Hi,
This is just one big cry for sympathy.
I know it's my own fault, it slipped from my cold fingers. But now my magician is stone dead, no blinking led anymore, no activity when connected with usb, nothing when you press the power button, soft-reset or whatever. I removed the battery & the sim, inserted it again, nothing happens :-(. Now it just feels strange, sort off naked without my magician on my side, no 7*24 web-access anymore :-(
So any response is welcome, even if you call me names. If you got any idea how to solve this pls let me know. Otherwise it will be going off to the repair center tomorrow afternoon. I'm even thinking what my replacement will be: a wizard, a prophet or just wait till the HSDPA devices come out this year.
Refards, M
hi oltp,
sorry to hear that (
i'm with you...
bad, bad, bad..
i'd better wait for small factor HSDPA/HSUPA device...
my hima was dead once, and those three weeks were like eternity...
buzz
Tnx buzz,
Three weeks without it, only the idea makes my wanna cry & all shivery. I think I'll follow your advice, but first wait & see what the repair center will do. If I'm very lucky it will be repaired under warranty, it's still covered by it. Only normally not valid for this kind of damage :-(

Good luck
Small update: Went to the shop I bought it at last june. Good news it's covered in a two year warranty & they ship it for free to the repair center. Bad news they needed the invoice as well & I didn't bring it with me. They didn't even wanted to check their computers to see what data is in there about my magician or whatso-ever :-( Now I've got to go back tomorrow again & they take around ten working days to fix it, so a three week period without magician will be reality I guess.
Man I do feel stupid.

What are these devices?
HSDPA & HSUPA
Those are the next generation devices. Now we got GPRS, which will be replaced by UMTS, which will be replaced by the even better HSDPA.

Hi oltp,
Thats really really sad to hear and i know how incomplete it feels when we are without our device, even for a day..
Anyway hope everything goes fine under warranty.
But i heard that warranty expires if you do a ROM upgrade or a patched Big Storage. Hope the repair centre doesnt finds it out.
Il pray for you, don't worry..
Regards
Carty..
Hi Carty,
Thanks man indeed I'm worried about the 'minor changes' made to my device. The rom-upgrades I've done don't worry me the least, cause they were all TMO supplied, but the other changes might be dubious. I've send it in wednesday and the lovely lady at the desk assured me it will all be ok, maybe they'll give me an other one she even said. Nothing heard anymore since then, which is normal in my opinion. So now I count the days...
Regards, M
Last update on this:
I got a NEW magician, they covered it under warranty & I'm about the happiest person on the forum for today. Course I got the patch the rom to BIG Storage again to be able to restore my backup properly, but that's peanuts. & I need to buy a new screen protector, which will be delivered tomorrow. The old one wasn't returned & I didn't want to make a great fuss about it. They're actually sending me a new standard one, but I like the Brando ones more.
Thanks everone for feeling with me.
Cheers for now, M
Congratulations! Getting a replacement for free is something that doesn't happen in many countries. Just take good care of your new baby.
You bet I will ;-)

Phone would not vibrate at all. Confirmed this was a hardware not software issue.
Called HTC, got them to send me a shipping label to have it serviced, I'm happy.
Warranty expires next week. This is one of the first N1s ever made.
Anyway ..... today I accidentally drop it down my carpeted basement stairs and now the vibrate works. I should be happy but I'm not because now they won't fix it and this is bound to happen again and when it does I won't be under warranty any longer .......

Before calling htc, did you do the nandroid back up?
Just wondering: Why would your warranty expire in 1 week?
Nexus One hasn't been out a year yet and they come from HTC with a 12 month warranty right?
Only reason I could think of is other countries get screwed on warranty lengths?
this is one of the first nexus one's ever - even before the google employees got them -
I got it from a google exec

i'm having the same issue...i was wondering if you could tell me if you rooted your n1 and if htc is being cool about it or not.
it is happening to me too. I've having problems with vibration/haptic feedback for some time now. At first I though it was a software issue and switched from rom to rom but it keep happening even with stock rom. I called HTC and requested a swap because of dust under the screen . I knew that dust was my second warranty after I rooted and left it there until I really needed it gone . New phone should arrive in two days.

My haptic is messed up too, I'm really hoping HTC will fix it.

I was also having that problem. CM6 has an option to manually set values for haptic feedback. That kind of made the trick, but I have the feeling vibration keeps going softer and softer every time...
My haptic feedback stopped ONE time for just a couple minutes.. it started working again and hasn't happened since. Hope thats the end of it

I'm not replacing it because of haptic feedback problem, I'm replacing it because it has dust under the screen and dust under the scrren does not have to do with software issue
I received a outplacement phone and already sent the old one back. HTC repair status says: "We are currently testing your phone."
I'll update you guys when they close the ticket.
On other tough, I really don't like that Haptic Feedback Tweaks on CM at all. I find no use to it, and I believe that it was the cause of vibration ending up dead. I which that there will be an option to leave it stock. Just my opinion
Update: Looks like they closed the ticket:

I recently gave my phone to samsung since my home key was not working. When i got back my phone, i saw that they had given me a different battery than my old one. when i asked them. the service guys told me they changed my battery because my old battery backup was not good.
Now i wanna know if there is anyway i could check the manufacturing date of the battery.
the manufacturing date is written on the battery. at the back. the bottom most thing. and the date doesn't matter much. you could have a battery that was manufactured a long time ago, but since it hasn't been used, it's technically a new one.
hope this helps. if it does, press thanks please =D
If the battery wrkin fine...den k...else screw them....

if the battery is unused one, i do not have a problem.
but if it was used and then left unused for a long time, the backup wont be good.
saw the manudacturing date and it is 8 months ago and samsung told me it is a new battery. I am gonna SCREW them

Was the key completely disfunctional? Or, does it not respond at times? I'm having that problem. It takes atleast 3-4 clicks to get the screen to light up when the phone is locked. I was wondering if it was a problem with the hardware and if I should take it to the Service Centre
Hi,
The power button is broken on my Acer A501.
For 1 year I kept it going without rebooting. Plugin it to the wall would turn it on from deep sleep.
Now just messed up unplugging a usb thumb drive and the tablet frozen and discharged completely.
I can't find a way to force it to boot anymore.
Is the a way force it to boot without using the power button?
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks,
Francois

Hey Francois, the answer is no unfortunately. However, several people in the past have had the same issue, and basically they take the case apart and glue the PWR button back on. Should be some old threads in the Q & A which cover what they did to repair it.
Seems these tablets are starting to fall apart this year. Mine just hard bricked for it's final time last night. None of our good tools can get it back, and I'm one of the "BrickMasters":laugh:
If you were in Moscow, I would just let you change your mainboard, into my case (PWR button works)

Thank you Moscow Desire.
I don't have the pleasure to know Moscow yet, unfortunately.
I'm aware of the the button repair with glue or soldering, which is beyond my technical abilities. I do software, not hardware... I know I could get it repaired for $50 in USA, plus shipping, but that approaches the cost of a replacement tablet as prices have lowered a lot. The A501 was a great, awesome product 3 years ago, but its age starts to show...
Before sending for repair or thrashing it, I wanted confirmation it can't be jump started... Your answer confirms it is not possible.
I'll check with some more technically inclined friends to see if the can fix it.
Thanks,
Francois

Yeah, pretty much they just aren't worth the cost of repair. Heck, I think you can buy a working one for about $50 bucks anyhow.
But the glue method is pretty easy I think, if I remember right.
Here's a link to the service manual

But hey, if you're gonna thrash it, how about sending me it's mainboad?
My bootloader memory partition got corrupted beyond repair yesterday (my little girls entertainment).
I have an A701 (nice display, but rest of tablet is junk. No more Acer for me) Think I will got Sammy for the newer 10.1 model.

Thankd for the manual. I might give it a try, with some help.
Do anyone know if it could be booted up using a docking station? http://www.acer.ae/ac/en/AE/content/model/LC.DCK0A.001. I see a Power button on the remote control. Or directly via the dock pins, maybe shorting some?
Just checking.
Thanks for any info.

I have no idea. Docking stations never were that popular, at least not over here.
Good luck Mate!

My snapdragon phone started acting weird today. Was slow and locked up for many minutes doing just simple tasks.
Took a backup of the phone and ran a factory reset.
The phone was fast and smooth after this and i was satisfied. But then i did a reboot, and the phone never booted again.
It does not even charge. Just dead.
Anyone else had this issue? Had the phone since release, and it has never been rooted or anything that would break warranty, so i will contact the place i bought it from.
But can this might be battery related? In that case it would be much easier for me to get a new battery.
Have tried to charge it for a while without any result. Does not seem to draw any power either as the charger is cold..
but when i plug it in the pc, windows detects something for about 2 seconds, but claims it's unrecognizable...
Rocking my Nexus 4 now, smooth phone with android 6.0, but camera and battery sucks bigtime... I want my note back..
I have exact same problem. But my phone was rooted and service center told me my warranty is void. They told me the mainboard is bad and need to be replaced. It will cost about half of the new phone price...
Try pressing "Vol +" + "Vol -" + "Lock" + "Start" buttons for a few seconds
Pd: wrong section, this should go on troubleshouting

Take it to a different store from your carrier and this time don't tell them its been rooted. Tell them it hasn't been if they ask and they should replace it.
Have tried every combination possible with holding in buttons. No sign of life.. Good thing i got a backup while it was still "working"
I have had many plans to root the device and get in some custom ROM but i have been satisfied with stock and never found the time to do it, and i am happy for that now
Sorry for posting in the wrong place. Maby an admin can move this post?

This has been checked and it's not the problem. But thanks for suggestion.
If i get a new Note 4 on warranty i will probably sell it and get a Nexus phone, or install an clean ROM right away. Stock android is so much smoother than touchwiz.

Yeah, i don't know why the note 4s hard brick them selfs like that, must be a bug/glitch.
Seems like the store i bought it from has 2 years warranty. But in Norway we anyway have a 5 year "mini warranty" on electronics that is decided by law. So if the problem is not caused by mistreatment or water damage you should get it fixed for free within 5 years anyway.
Motherboard was faulty (as suspected)
Try to re-install a stock firmware (latest version) from sammobile with odin. This is the fast mode to revover your phone .
