Has anyone had any charging port issues? I figured it is my phone acting up. I have 3 different Samsung Quick charge cables (OEM) and 2 Motorola quick charge cables. Each one either charges the for slow ( non fast charge) or displays the "Moisture detected" Error and doesn't charge.
The catch is that my Tronosmart 5 port QC charged at work still charges it fast.
Wondering if I need to contact Verizon to get a new phone or if a Factory Rest will do the trick.
I took it swimming back in may and maybe submerged it once in 1 ft of water for a couple seconds at most. So I'm positive its not that.

Hello,
There is a strange issue here. I've got Nexus 7 (the old version) and two Xiaomi Mi2 phones (one of them is Mi2s). All have latest firmware. All of them had their own AC adapters and cables. After some usage I needed to buy new cables so I've bought 5 pcs of these: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1048600 They are great cables, look strong and build quality is perfect. The only thing.. they do not charge my devices properly. If I take Nexus' charger, Nexus itself and this Samsung cable - Nexus shows charging sign, it gets hot, but charging percent just doesn't change. If I turn the screen off, then it gains about 30-40% of charge overnight. But if I use the tablet while charging, it gets very hot but charge goes down! If I just replace the cable with the native one Nexus charges in 3 hours, Xiaomi in 2.
Even more strange thing happens when I use a powerbank instead of wall charger (like this: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1340502 + 3 x https://www.fasttech.com/p/1143803). With original cables it charges as fast as the wall charger. With Samsung cable - Nexus doesn't charge (but shows charging sign), Xiaomis just go crazy, they start vibrating and flashing their charge indicators, do not charge.
Moreover, I've noticed what sometimes when Nexus is "charging" with Samsung cable its screen starts to touch itself like crazy
The question is... WTF? Aren't those Micro-USB cables all the same? Do they have anything but the wires inside???

There are two types of cables. Data + charge cables and charge - only cables. The data capable cables will charge more slowly than the charge - only ones. The difference is dramatic as you have seen. So, no, all those cables are not the same.

Well.. In this terms all the cables I use are the same. All of them can handle PC-device communication AND charging. So this is definitely not the difference..
Guage of wires and length also affect it. Shorter & thicker the wires the better they will do. I got tired of the confusion & just got some charge - only cables. These are great for charging but no data through put at all.

Hey guys,
I was charging my note 4 with the adaptive fast charging today, and when I reached about 73% it stopped charging. The brick (plug) was bricked. Did not show any charging, thought it was my cable so i changed the cable around, but no success so I used a different charger (non adaptive fast charger) to charge it, which did work.
Upon discovering this I contacted Samsung and was told that non of my retail stores had any replacements in stock. Now i must wait for them to get a shipment of the order.
My questions are:
1. What could have caused this? My charger is only less than 2 months old.
2. Would using alternative chargers harm the battery or the phone?
Thanks in advance

Firstly, this should have been posted in the Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Answers to your question:
1. Could be anything, from faulty charger out of the box but was working for a bit, to bad power socket, to lightning strike.
2. Using alternative charger won't harm your phone or battery. Maybe just untick Fast Charging when using other chargers.
Same issue

I had the same issue..the fast charger just wont charge my Note 4. Got the adapter and cable replaced. They didnt hve it in stock, had to wait a week. ..used the normal charger till them. Normal charger did its job, but took bit longer compared to the fast charger.
burning car charger, Note 4
I just purchased my Note 4, swapped out my sim and then connected it to my Belkin cigarette lighter/USB car charger.
5 minutes later travelling down a freeway ,when smoke started to pour out. I yanked out the chord and
still managed to burn myself with it. 2 weeks later I really needed to charge my phone while camping
thinking/hoping it was my old chargers fault. I also turned off fast charge and it blew my car's fuses and it got
super hot again within seconds. Is this normal. Do I need to know which USB's I can use and where?
Or is my phone busted?
just use a wireless qi charger. it avoids all these issues and no wires to worry about.
fast charging is bad for your phone and battery anyway.
So I cant charge my phone while I drive?
just get a wireless qi car charger cradle.
Has anybody used one of these?
Before I buy one I was wandering if anyone has used one and if its any good?

Phone used to say rapid or fast charge when charging but my charging port wouldn't"snap" the connector in place so it contestants fell loose. So last night I changed the daughter board/charging port out with a genuine Huawei one for this phone. But now I never get rapid or fast charge. Only "slow charge" and "charging". I used to run pure Nexus all the time and recently went over to Resurrection remix. Maybe it's the different ROMs showing different charging status's.. I'm not sure. But here's a screen shot of ampere. Any ideas?

Hello,
Searching for slow charging in Q&A search box: https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/forum/4746?query=Slow charging
Led me here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/slow-charging-7-1-2-t3594207
Don't know if it's related, but others on RR 7.1.2 seem to have issues with rapid charging.
Good luck...
Thank you. I kept trying to search for rapid charge voltage or anything like that to see what numbers I should be getting in ampere but not had any luck. Guess I'll flash a different rom next weekend and see if that is it.
Thanks

Did you resolve this issue? I bought a new charging port / daughter board for my Nexus 6p from DIYMobileRepair and had the same issue. I messaged a different vendor (Fixez) asking about their parts and they told me "Our replacement parts will have some issue with data transfer it will charge slowly as well. These are unfortunately known issues with the replacement parts."
Has anyone found a Nexus 6p replacement daughter board that is fully functional?

Unfortunately no. I've tried 2 boards available online that claim to be OEM but neither worked. Luckily I got my money back on both. I did just order a used board that's pulled from a working Nexus 6p. So hopefully that along with the new battery I ordered fixes this useless phone. I was about to keep on of the boards that I ordered before and have it in my phone strictly for charging purposes. When the new pixel is released I may pick one of them up but I wanna be able to get the pictures of vacation and of my wife of my phone and I haven't had luck finding an app that can transfer pics from the phone to a PC over WiFi.. Only from PC to phone. And the Bluetooth on this phone is so retardedly slow to transfer 1 picture thru Bluetooth to my laptop takes 2-3 minutes.
Got a new H918, however when I use the fast charger it was supplied with the phone only charges for a short amount of time (5-10 minutes) then stops. After that, it slowly begins discharging all the while the charging icon on the battery symbol is displayed.
I had it plugged in overnight, checked cables... even bought a brand new genuine charger and cable and that made no difference either.
However when I use my four year old charger for the LG G Pad (still 1.8A but only 5V, no 9V support) it slowly charges to 100% as normal.
Tried a couple of other chargers, they all charge the battery slowly up to 100% as you'd expect. Fast chargers (Samsung or LG) on the other hand stop after 5-10 minutes as I said above.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'd like to be sure if it's the battery, the phone's hardware or its software.
I find it strange how the battery is fine when plugged into an old charger, but won't work with fast chargers at all.
Have you had the very same experience, or was your battery dead irrespective of the charging unit?

Mine would show charged, then pop up a msg saying invalid battery and shut down the phone. Battery suggestion was the easiest and least expensive option to troubleshoot your problem. Of course if the phone is under warranty I'd send it in.

I'd like to report back, in case someone else happens to stumble upon the very same problem.
Got a new genuine battery off ebay and replaced the one I got with the phone. It worked straight away - managed to (fast) charge it using the original charger from 0% all the way up to max.
What a relief! Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction @cnjax.
Could my work on my XT1575 cause the phone to charge very slowly? As long as I was using a good QC3 charger and a QC3-certified micro USB cable my MXPE phone charged fast. I have TWO working XT1575s. When plugged into the same charger with the same USB cable they both showed "Turbocharging" and both charged quickly.
Last week I replaced the back of one of the phones. -- exchanging the original back with an ebony wooden back. I had problems getting the ebony back to stay completely adhered so I installed it, removed it, installed it again with better adhesive. looks fine now.
Now, the back is securely in place BUT THE PHONE WON'T CHARGE FAST ANYMORE. Could I have damaged something in the phone while doing all that heating during the back replacement? I use a heat gun, always on the low setting, but I for the last installation I moved the heat pretty slowly around the back to increase the heat and hopefully improve the adhesion.
Everything about the phone works perfectly, both hardware and software. When I plug in a charging cable is shows "Turbocharging" but the charge time estimated by the phone is 7 or 8 or even 9 hours. That's about how long it takes too. And the phone won't charge past about 90%.
I've already replaced the battery. I have no idea how to further diagnose the problem. Have I effectively destroyed my phone while putting on a prettier back (to summarize how stupid I'd feel)?

Either you have a cheap low quality battery or you probably burnt it up with the heat gun. The NFC pad is on top of the battery if that still works then I highly doubt anything else was damaged but I could be wrong. Worse case scenario you desoldered something on the motherboard but I doubt it. First check the wattage on your wall charger if it says 5 volts and 1 Amp then that's your issue. Most wall chargers or USB ports I use have to be at least 5 volts and 2 amps or it will not charge and it'll actually get stuck at 90% like in your case because the charge rate slows down after 80% I believe and a crap wall charger won't have enough power to charge the phone like a high quality OEM wall charger would.
