I'm currently running kennethpenns 2.3.4 beta 3 GB rom, and at first the fingerprint sensor worked flawlessly, now it never works. Even after I reboot, the sensor doesnt work.
Not quite sure what thee problem could be. The only mods I've installed are the battery fix and the 1% mod. Anyone else experiencing this problem? I'm considering just doing a fresh install of 2.3.4 using either kennethpenns or cherryblur

I have the same issue. It started happening after I flashed Kholk's kernel which messed up my wifi. Since then, I have tried changing kernels and such, to no avail.

Yeah, but not a fingerprint data restore though. Only apps. I just did a factory reset and the fingerprint sensor won't even scan when I try to add the security lock now

No new kernels at all. Flashed the kennethpenn's 2.3.4 radio, though that was a few weeks before the fingerprint sensor just completely stopped working.
Also, seems like the lock pattern no longer wants to work as well. I just set a pattern lock, fresh install of 2.3.4, and sometimes when I unlock it'll ask for it, and sometimes it won't.
There has to be something wrong here. Maybe it was the enable wake on volume mod? Though thats not installed now on my fresh install of 2.3.4
I really hate double posting, but does anyone have a solution for this? Should I just go to att and get a replacement?
Finger print scan fix
this should fix it. go in and set your pin code. reboot the phone. now go back in and set up your fingerprints.
I had my phone on 1.83 and used the bootloader unlock, root, then a modification to the SQL to get unknown sources avail. I had to use RSD and an sbf for 1.8.3 in order to get the ota to GB to install correctly. after that i factory reset my phone just to be sure. when i was setting it up i had this issue. the above got it working.
Unfortunately that didnt fix it. Whatever the issue is, is deep in the system data because flashing new roms doesnt fix the problem.

Unfortunately that didn't fix it either. Cleared cache partition, dalvik, and did a factor reset/wipe of data.

pure stock, after OTA gingerbread my fingerprint reader stopped working entirely as well.
Don't care as I don't use it, but irritating to know, I was actually hoping it would improve performance so I would actualyl start using it.
I had the same issue after installing 2.3.4 and read somewhere that turning off your phone, removing the battery for a couple minutes and putting it back would fix it. It did fix it in my case.

my fingerprint scanner stopped working...tried to restart, remove batt, change the diff types of lock options...no successs. any suggestions?
Yeah this issue is really annoying. I'd hate to have to go through the whole process of getting a replacement. Its crazy that both the fingerprint sensor won't work, and the pin code lock won't work either.
Bump Bump Bump
This worked for me also. Stock with 2.3.4 OTA update. Set up a pin. Then chose the fingerprint sensor option. Thanks!
Hi,
I have a very big problem.
After I’ve flashed this rom (Unofficial cm13 Mr. Coldbird), the fingerprint sensor disappeared from the settings
How can I fix it?
P.s
It 's my first message , I hope I used the correct section of the forum
Do you flash mm-firmware.zip?
for me it works sometimes and sometimes keep hanging " just vibrating without unlock " .. sometimes it says " hardware is not found "
i entered the recovery and flashed mm-firmware.zip again and the same problem exist ... i'm thinking to back to COS 12.1 it was working perfectly !
I have exactly the same problem, fingerprint option totally disappeared from my lockscreen settings. No idea how to fix it.

Same Problem here.. In cm13 official and Mr coldbirds Version.. Even with installing mmfirmware.zip
I have the same problem too. It have tested on official CM13 and om Mr.Colbird CM13 versions.
me too
the problem of vibrating that was because of third party app like " screen lock " but if you locked it with power button or double tap the fingerprint sensor will work perfectly :good:
I happen the same. Since I installed unofficial CM 13 (Mr. Coldbird) fingerprint sensor has disappeared.
I have even tried to solve it installing stock COS with qfil, but although the app has appeared again, the sensor doesn't work. I put the finger on it, but no signal arrives to the phone.
I have tried hard reset, install mmfimware, official CM 12 and 13, unofficial 13, but nothing work.
Any idea? Thanks.

Fastboot reboot or just press the power button until the phone shut down. I don't know went it didn't help you but i have recovered my fingerprint reader already twice with that procedure. You will lose nothing when just flashing the modem and the bootloader. My guess is that the persist.img is the partition you need to restore for the fingerprints. My fingerprint reader has been acted really crazy when i tried the unofficial cm13. Until it stopped working. I restored my backup and did the procedure to recover my fingerprint reader. I'm now on self built odexed cm13 nightly 's with working fingerprint reader.
Stopped working here too. Tried to restore COS but even if the setting is there, fingerprint doesn't get detected (phone keeps vibrating)

Yesterday my fingerprint stopped again too. So I did the same procedure again and it didn't work anymore for me too. So I tried to flash the official cm13 again. First it didn't work but after a few minutes it started to work again. I really don't know how this is possible but there is one difference. The radio from official cm13 is newer than the one from COS. I'm happy that it works fine again but I'm afraid it will stop again when I try a different rom again.
I've had my phone for a few months now
I flashed the Skydragon 6.0.1 ROM yesterday and I wanted to move back to 5.1.1
So I did, I flashed the TWRP for 5.1.1 and I flashed the Stock OOS 2.2.0
But now, my home button works and Im able to register my fingerprint but after I selected use fingerprint to unlock it doesn't unlock
I've tried every solution on the Internet such as
1) Force stop com.oneplus.fingerprint and hard reset
2)Use software nav buttons
3)Factory reset
Nothing seems to work
I love the fingerprint feature in the OP2
Someone please help me out.
When I dialled *#808# and checked the finger print auto test and it said PASS
So Im sure its not a Hardware error
You should probably flash the old modem back. Can you please get into the security settings inside settings and tell me if you have a force close. If you get a force close you have to flash the old modem.
By saying modem I mean firmware. You can find it in OnePlus 2 Android development > taker18's cyanpop's second post.
Or in blissmallow thread second post.

(Edit 1) Found a fix already! Read post 2!!!
Hello there,
I've been having a OnePlus Two since 4 months already, and had like 2 or 3 home button not working issues.
They used to fixed by themselves after a couple of days of not working, but not this last time.
I tried already the reinstalling system (after formatting system via TWRP), clean it several times, hard reset (hold power button for more than 20 seconds), complete drain battery and fully charge it again, force stop fingerprint service, take out the tempered glass screen protector, and none of those solutions worked.
I here attach (copy the link, can't upload a video directly to this post) a video in which you can see that whenever I power on the screen (still locked), the home button works for several times, but as soon as I unlock it (pattern lock) it stops working. This makes me think that the problem is software, not hardware, but as I said before, already tried reinstalling OOS 3.0, wiping system, cache, data, internal storage, etc.
I compressed the video so it wouldnt be too big, but quality is good enough, just rise the volume so you can listen to the "vibration" that the home button produce.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Daniel Castro
Fix for the issue!
Forum people, I found a fix!
Ok, the solution for making the home button work again (with fingerprint sensor) is the following.
-Factory reset while in OOS 3.0
-Set up everything up and then reboot into fastboot mode
-Install OOS 2.1 via fastboot (you will need to search the forums for it)
-Set up everything up and try to set up fingerprint (it wont work)
-Copy OOS 3.0 (Beta) in the root of the phone
-Reboot into stock recovery and flash OOS 3.0 (beta)
-Factory reset it and set up everything again
-Voila!
Feel free to try this method and reply to this threat or P.M. me for any help.
Sincerely,
Daniel Castro
I have the same problem
Tomorrow i'll try your method
I've posted a questione about this issue,
I think the One plus team should find a solution to this problem that afflict many users
Also, don't forget to rotate your phone 720 degrees, counter clock wise! ? hocus pocus....

Most probably hardware design fault, solution would be to redesign the phone and release a fixed design, will probably not happen unless oneplus3 is the solution.
And I second that it's just coincident behind these back and forth flashing of firmwares "solving" it, almost religious. But what are people to do when oneplus is not a company that takes responsibility for they're mistakes.

If it works, its worth a try . And yeah, but we are not in any OnePlus Forum, neither debating about if they are gonna do anything about their own issue, we are trying to fix what an irresponsable company wont.
can we make together an official request to one plus to give us an answer or explanation about this? a lot of users are facing this issue, it's not normal

Unfortunately that is not the case, it's a hardware design bug.
However you can f-k up your finger scanner by damage your persistant-partition if you flash up and down between different ROM/bootloader revisions. But it's easily fixed by flashing the image file for that partition again.

50/50 moisture sensitivity and driver issue.
Home button has been working fine for a year, installed 3.0.1 today and suddenly home button only works in OOS 3.0.1. No longer works in CM 13, yet works fine in OOS 3.0.1. Definitely a driver issue.
Tried installing OOS 2.2.1, wiping, then installing Grarak's CM 13 and home button refuses to work. Wiped system, data, cache, installed OOS 3.0.1 and home button works again. Tried wiping again and installed CM 13, home button stopped working. Wiped and reinstalled OOS 3.0.1, home button works again.
Odd thing, my phone will only work with CM13 roms and OOS 2.2.0 or less for fps and home button. Nothing will fix or ever work.
For me, the home button stopped working for a short while on Graraks, then it just jumped back to life again and I haven't had any more home button blackouts after that. If it's a driver issue, it's an extremely intermittent one.
The fingerprint scanner has stopped working from time to time at lockscreen, but this is acceptable for an official hackjobb supported scanner until official sources are released ?
Need Help with this!
Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks! I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet so literally dont know why it happened.
Thanks,
Max
Hello,
I just upgraded my phone to OOS 9.0.13 and xXx to 6.0. Since then, I can no longer use my fingerprint sensor properly. I can see the icon on my phone but it's a bit darker and when I place my finger on it to unlock, nothing happens. However, if I tap it multiple times, it tells me I'm pressing it too fast but there's no animation like there is when you unlock your phone.
I deleted the fingerprint I had already and now I can't setup a new one because of what it's doing. I power cycled the device, cleared dalvik cache.. still no luck. All I did was booted to recover, flashed the new OOS version, flashed TWRP installer, rebooted to recovery, flashed magisk, flashed Blu_Spark kernel, rebooted system. I've never had this issue before and the fingerprint sensor was working just fine before I made this change.
Any ideas? I've disabled xXx in Magisk and it still didn't work.
Thanks!

with every update it becomes quicker, no issues.. there is a big difference since the early updates.

Traditional sensors are superior in speed and accuracy the in-display fingerprint is garbage and not ready for market. If it's a dealbreaker for you stay with the 6.

I find it to be excellent. Slightly slower than my 3T, but just as accurate. And MUCH more accurate than my work-provided iPhone 6. The reader learns over time; after about a week or two it was working optimally.
Rear facing FP scanners are the worst in my opinion. A common use case for me is to have the phone on my desk and I like unlocking it without having to pick up the phone to access anything on the back.
