It's been a long time since the last poll,so I waited for someone to make another poll but no one did.
Recently got one, without knowing about this issue. Got a 603, but now I'll be constantly worried. Yesterday a reboot took unusually long, and I was ready to freak out. lol

I read on reddit that someone with the same serial number got bootlooped, so keep backing up just in case.Btw,what's your hardware revision?
H815T 505 , So far no failure

I guess I'll regret trying LG. Oh well.. I'll make sure to keep things backup up. Do I need to worry about the data on the microSD card?
Hardware revision is 1.1, I think.

Hah, my G4's motherboard was changed with new one with this S/N 603, HW version 1.0. After 4X HD, Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2, Nexus 5, G Pro 2, G3, definitely the G4 will be my last LG phone, if bootloop again! [emoji1]
With respect to the HW revision, I assume that the number on the back sticker of the packaging is the one to look at, right? It start's with MEZ, then a bunch of numbers and ends in (1.1) - so that should mean it's 1.1, right? Because there is no mention of the revision on the phone itself/behind the battery. I can only find S/N, IMEI & the model number H815 there, but neither rev 1.0 nor rev 1.1?
All stickers show only new SN, IMEI and model number. I can see the HW Version only in Hidden menu-> SVC Menu-> Version Info-> HW Version. As i said mine is v1.0.
I think 505 should have it's own spot in the poll. Most failures seem to be 505

most fails are on 505 because it's the first batch(so the oldest),so it tends to fail sooner than others.Anyways,lg didn't acknowledge the issue before jan 2016,and it's been known by a lot that 506-509 should be affected too .
has anyone with hardware revision 1.1 ever experienced bootloop?it's weird how newer G4s like 603 got 1.0,maybe that's why they are failing.

There is a vast difference between 505 failures and any other model
505 had an almost 50% fail rate
Others may be within normal limits for an electronic device

Just try to get a S/N 510+ and build date on 12 / 2015
This poll does not distinguish between single or dual sim. And i'm beginning to think it ain't a problem on dual sim.
A friend of mine bought a duel sim on Hong Kong, after 4 months the phone won't recognize sim anymore, we tried everything it's just broken.

If you can get the serial number and it starts with 600+ ,then MAYBE you won't have any problems, but as you can some 600+ are also failing,soooooo...I recommend not buying it unless with warranty.

I have a problem with my unit so I'm going to send it in for servicing. I had KG3 on it and I reverted back to the official ROM.
Anyway while playing around with the device I noticed something weird. on KG3 the HW revision was 1.5 now I've reverted back to the firmware that came with the device (KF2) the HW revision has changed to 1.4.
What are you using to view the HW revision so we can all look at the same page and see if it also hold true with our units.
You own a repair shop right, couldnt you have your technicians fix it for you instead of sending it back for the 2nd time around ?

/me gasps and looks ahead with a meaningless expression on his face.
Why would I destroy the warranty on a new unit?
I'm pretty sure the same thing happened to me. On the original firmware i was 1.4 but when i changed it using odin i was 1.5. I wasn't sure if i'd remembered it incorrectly but i'm quite sure it was 1.4.
From memory i was also 1.4 on one of the first batches sold . Now 1.5 .

I dont think there is a way to check if your RMA is brandnew or not.
I think you should focus on whether your RMA is satisfied or defective.

I would probably check the revision by booting into bootloader. I doubt they would be any rev_10 models still lying around. I would check the serial number as well. Theres a thread on here somewhere where you can find out when and where your device was manufactured using the serial number. That should give you a good indicator.

As someone who just returned his 3rd with dead pixels, my only recommendation is to buy from a place that you know will let you return it.
It seems to be a random **** shoot, I see all these people reporting they have units that are good, and then there's me and the others in the dead pixel thread.
An update has already been released to fix the multitouch and GPS issue.

Like you said most issues are fixable by update which are rolling out now but depends on your preference. I was thinking the same thing but waited a month. The current hardware which is what I have rev. E, seem to be issues free. Have spoke to others both 16gb and 32gb who are so far issue free under this rev so it really just depends where you buy it if they're still on the initial stock or if they've gotten new batches. I bought mine off amazon, through amazon them selves, meaning no separate sellers on amazon and got lucky with no issues but as said under rev. E, now I'm not totally sure how true that is that's what was explained to me by someone else while we are waiting for the current update, so I guess your best bet is to talk to someone who is experiencing these issues souch as multi-touch, random reboot and GPS issues. See what rev the initial stock was. Other wise like you mention you can just wait a month or so which most issues should be ironed out by then but seems as if they're getting a good handle on that so should have to wait too long if you choose to do so.

I got you on that, haha.Normally refurbished models come problem-free,right?I am considering waiting for it,then. What do you think?Bcz its a question of importing one.
The thing about 'lots of issue' reports is that folks are bound to announce when they are upset, but majority or folks enjoying the products is keep enjoying it instead of complaining. So, it may seem like there are a lot of issues, but it actually isn't widespread in any way.
I got one and loved it, but I returned it. I didn't any issues. I returned it because I want the LTE version instead. So, if you want to hold out, do it if you want the LTE version (just $80 more than the 32GB wifi version), not if you're waffling about quality issues. But if you are concerned, by it from a brick & mortar store so you have a return window.

Reboot into bootloader shutdown the hold vol down+ power, the hardware rev will be toward the bottom. As I said not sure how true that is haven't checked into this my self but would be good to know.
Don't listen to people to tell you to ignore complaints. There is a 30-something page thread about dead pixels going on since launch for a reason, and another about build quality that is huge as well.
The multitouch and GPS problems have been addresses in a (timely) update.
However, if you or your friend care about dead pixels or dust under your screen, it is something that people are indeed experiencing (again - i opened a july mfg unit yesterday and it had 2 dead pixels - my 3rd nexus with dead pixels).
I think the real question here is: If your friend opened one up in India with a dead pixel, some light bleed, some dust under screen, or any other blemish, would he be able to deal with it?

You are absolutely right. If its software issues like GPS and Multi-touch,it could be solved over updates but dead pixels and light bleeding can get him helpless. So its better to wait for refurbished models? If so will they come a bit late?
But are these common issues with every phone in this intensity?

Yes forgot about the dead pixel issue, that is true but not as all have it, its pretty much rolling the dice to see if your lucky enough to get one issue free, at least at the moment. So maybe to wait would be best or even a return but the return hasn't always proven true for me. I came from the Asus transformer which was riddled with ghost touch issues, went through 3 of them just couldn't get around it whether it was a return or not.

I haven't had the exactly the same problem as you, but have been in a similar situation where I bricked my phone. I'm here to help if needed.
Thanks for all the help everyone lets hope it goes well when i go to the shop tomorrow.
I have four G900Vs at home. Two of them have CID 15 and two have CID 11. Under the battery there is a sticker with the IMEI. The line above the IMEI has what appears to be a version number and I think it's the hardware version. Both of my CID 15 phones have 14.08 and one of the CID 11 phones has 14.09, the other is 14.10. My guess is that the CID 15 phones were the early runs and all probably have the 14.08 number while anything higher is going to be CID 11.
To the forum: Can everyone check that sticker and post the number above the IMEI line and what CID their phone has?
In checking 4 phones with confirmed CID's of 15, I see: 14.05, 14.04, 14.06, & 14.05.
I've found this to be a reliable way of getting a phone with a CID of 15. HOWEVER, I have come across a phone with a code of 14.08 and a CID of 11, so it seems that 14.08 is for sure the cut off, and that particular code should not be relied upon solely for a 15 phone.
So all below 14.09. So far this theory is planning out. I just didn't know there was anything below 14.08.

One of my CID15 phones shows 14.04.
Is it so difficult to run EMMC BrickBug Test from the Market? Or have a look at the logic board?
When you're trying to buy a phone from someone and you want to make sure it's CID 15 but they have already factory reset it, yes.

Ok, that's clear.
I'd rather buy a phone with Toshiba chip because it seems to me that they are more reliable than Samsung's ones.
FYI, I have here labels with numbers 15.01, 15.08 - don't remember what were the chips on these boards.
And I have one 16.10 - this one has a Toshiba chip.
Hope this will help you

Any idea what the CID were? I'm not familiar with the relationship between the chip manufacturer and the CID.
It is interesting that the version numbers are so wide spread. It still seems to hold out that the 14.08 and below are CID 15 and anything 14.09 and up is CID 11.

CID15 - Samsung EMMC chip.
CID11 - Toshiba EMMC chip.
Currently can neither confirm nor disprove your theory.
Too little material to confirm and no facts to disprove .
But those numbers look like dates, as for me. Not as HW versions.

We cannot know it for sure. But I think it may be a manufacturing date or something.
You can compare these dates with those that "Phone Info Samsung" app shows.
Mostly, they match each other for my phones.
And look. Even if these numbers are dates, your theory may be valid.

Checked three more devices: 14.12, 15.01 and 15.10. All of them have CID11.

Yes, SM-G900V is my family phone because it's excellent device for extremely low price.
I buy them "for parts" and don't pay more then $40 for each.

Understandable. My wife and I have been using the S5 for at least 5 years now. Love these phones.

And the last phone I can currently access shows 14.06 and has CID15.
BTW, these numbers on the stickers correspond "RF Cal" date, which is shown in info, accessed by dialing *#12580*369# (see attachment).

That's pretty cool. So one could assume then that it's the frequency calibration date for the modem?

Only Samsung konws for sure.
You may want to have a look at this ppt: https://ppt-online.org/55831
There's something about "RF Cal" starting from p.70.
But tell nobody about it

That slideshow is epic....Wow. Now I need a toaster over I can convert for heating phones.
I think you're on to something! I had three phones I could check.
CID 15:
14.06
14.07
CID 11:
16.08
This could really make it a lot easier to find the correct revision. Great observation!
