Hi,
I've created a Wiki Page at XDA for our (almost) beloved phone.
Here's the link : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SonyEricssonXperiaX10
Please feel free to add some tips and/or tricks in this page with the EDIT button.
For the ROOT part, i suggest to list all the solutions that the devs could have and the result for each one.
Great idea!
I'm happy to see some positive stuff in all these whining and moaning in this (kind of unmoderated) forum.
It makes me happy, that there are some people that really like to do some work for the community.
I'd like to add some of my disassembly / spare part / repair device stuff if you guys like.
Unfortunately I've no clue how to do it, what is good and what not and so on. Never worked with a Wiki before, as I'm more the "handcraft" guy and less the Web 2.0 co-worker / lover...
Is there anybody with wiki experience, willing to give some helping hand / advice?
Unfortunately nobody helped in my Disassembly thread.
I know my gramma, phrasing and spelling is more than bad.
So I don't like to copy and paste it to an wiki...

hey McKebapp's, it would be great to have all the stuff from your thread on wiki, just click on the EDIT button and you can edit the whole text as well as add your own titles/subtitles etc...it's not that hard and i'm sure somebody will correct your spelling if necessary so don't worry, i'll check on you if you'd like

Someone might want to update the Wiki with information from the 1st page of Xperia X10 Rooting and Custom ROM Development.
Added a German review + edited "my" links a little...
Hope I didn't do it wrong
I added "Compass" in Connectivity...
- redirect to current wiki page added
- JIT install link added
More about 2.1 please ^_^, like LED did work only when the screen if off for example. Hope the wiki will become more of info. Great job.

I edited the memory info. Specifically RAM info. It's 384MBs, not 256
It still show 287 MB at OS monitor app.

As there are so many different (and not so different) ROMs available for our Xperia Z (C6603), it becomes somehow difficult to find the best (in terms of smoothness and features) ROM for daily use. I know there are already plenty of threads comparing general features of different major ROMs. However, these might appear to be very general and totally not device related, especially for new comers. That is way I would like to start and maintain this thread.
In this thread I would like you to post you current rom and rate it on a scale from 1 (for very poor) to 10 (for f*cking hilarious). I would appreciate if you'd post your ratings each time you flash a new rom.
Please indicate following infos:
ROM NAME
(eventually) ROM base (e.g. AOSP, CM, etc)
ROM Version (e.g. 28062014 Nightly, 3.1, etc.)
Android Version
And your actual ratings for:
Features (that are implemented in other devices but not yet in ours)
Current available features
Overall smotheness
Overall satisfaction
How likely are going to advice your friends to install this rom (from 1 - not likely to 10 - very likely)
If you have already submitted your ratings on one of the previous posts in this thread, just create a new post and indicate your previous post number. Thus, I can adjust the rating in an appropriate way (Basically, your previous rom will receive bonus points if it was rated better than your new rom and I will deduct some points for the rom being rated worse than the new one).
Further information on rating calculation will come as soon as your first ratings get processed.
Any feedback and critics are welcome and very anticipated!!!
Hopefully will soon get enough responses to evaluate all available roms and help us to quickly find a 'new' for the daily use.:good::good::good:

Thread Closed.
Please create a new forum for the z3v. It's a different phone. It has a different camera. It has different hardware. It has different issues. We have one thread right now that must include everything. It's a tad difficult to sort things out.
Someone opened a photo sharing thread for teh z3v, and you closed it because "there's already a photo sharing thread". Understood, but that thread is for a different camera on a different phone.
Thank you.
David Troup
I agree as well. I have already posted this in the official device forum request thread but of course it's buried and ignored with a ton of other requests there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56223999#post56223999
I concur. We need our own forum.
It would be nice as it is a different phone.
+1
Camera is different, so picture comparison shouldn't be together.
Screen didn't have the battery saving refresh feature, so battery life can't be compared to regular z3
Dimensions are different so cases are different.
Either create a new device thread, or let us open separate threads under the z3
Agreed!!
I agree
New device page is needed.
Is there any development at all for the Z3v? Pretty sure they make forums based on popularity of devices and an actual device community, a locked bootloader Z3/Z3v wouldn't really get much development...
Text message duplicates. Yall still having that problem, or have u fixed the issue.
Yep, I'm not here to read about the regular Z3.

The note 4 has international forum + one per carrier in the us and it's the all the same hardware. No root for the Verizon phone note 4 yet as far as I know.
They have forums for a lot of other new phones that don't have any development or root yet. Amazon fire 6/7 doesn't get lumped with other fire tablets because they don't have development yet. Droid turbo is in a separate thread, although it has droid in the name. If you go to the main forum page and look at the specs shown at the top, it's not matching the z3v. As a matter of fact, doesn't seem that the same boot loader rooting methods that work on z3 would work on z3v.
If after all this we don't get a new forum, at least let us have separate threads. As mentioned before camera is different, can't compare pictures with other z3 phones. Screen is different, needs different white balance thread. Screen doesn't have power saving feature like the z3, need a separate battery life thread. Body is different, no strap hike to that potentially leaks, can't use any of the cases for the z3.

I don't have the phone yet, but i have seen this issue popping up. Folks are saying that you need to disable all but one of the messaging apps. I believe there are two that are running on the stock set up. Then a reboot couldn't hurt

The Note 4 is also a LOT more popular than a variant of the Z3 locked to one carrier. The Z1s never got its own forum. If a thread is for the Z3V then start the title with [Z3V], that's about all you can do.

That's our complaint. We had a thread for pictures for the z3v and it got closed because there's a general z3 picture forum.

Let's not forget about the lack of a luxurious use of a wrist strap which defeats the one of the biggest selling point of the Z3, functionality of its waterproof structure. XP

Hello to all who will potentially read my thoughts. I think and corect me if I am wrong is that we have to big generalisation of topics. To me idea about easy access to information is when a specific topic on a specific part of bit bigger theme is takled over on a smaller scale. It is not easy to filter 30 pages , not to mention that if a topic is to big it can be even 200 pages long. In they light I don't think that every topic regarding battery is for one place or that every idea is for official firmware section...
I wouldn't want to have 50 same threds, but if there is a for example a specific update I don't think it can be showcased in one place like the rest of the much more general topic.
Because every thred with word battery could be then closed and transferred to a general battery thred ... And so on and so on ...
I have respect for our community and I consider my self as a part of it even I have a status of only member. But please don't do over generalisation of topics.
Thank you.
P's. I don't think that this will be open much longer so give me your honist opinion, not one bound by rouls, just say what ever you want, I am not going to be offended.

Welcome to XDA's silly forum where the rules are more important than user experience. I've been complaining about this for 3 years so don't expect changes anytime soon. The closed 5.1.1 topics right now are a perfect example of basically killing brand new discussions for the sake of who knows what.

Thank good someone with a sense of what is important ... In my opinion that was my favourite discussion and they colesd it ... I am here also some time and even as of today I got to be a senior member ... And I really don't know how but that is nice to see ...

I get your point. Indeed the closed 5.1.1 thread is a very good example. Ist very difficult to discuss just this update in the General Firmware thread since there are different android Versions, phone models, countries etc.
But I think the main reason is that there are People opening threads for the same Topic or issue over and over again and that is kinda annoying, confusing and difficult too.
I agree closing the 5.1.1 threads was not called for especially when users were pointed to a thread that does not hold all the firmware images i.e. XEU. Also it is pointless complainimg about it as it always falls on dead ears.
Thanks for posting this. It irks me every time I see a legitimate thread closed and then traffic is directed to a much larger, much more cumbersome, and much less user friendly thread. Why should we leave all discussion about battery life, for example, in one large, unwieldy thread? Is there an actual reason for this other than bureaucracy? NO ONE wants to sift through 30 pages much less 200 pages.

You are write ... But then you should fallow the rules in certain way, and people should be more careful when opening a new thred ... But to close all threds regarding the update is funny ... There should be a system when someone opens a thred that there is the same topic ... But there is no system warning about it ...
One of the reasons that this happens is just what I already told and it is that massive mega general threds ...

For now I am going to wait a bit more to see other people's thoughts ... And I will write aslo my new ideas and other things I think are not corect here ... I only hope that me going against the moderators is not going to misunderstood as a personal attack.

Agreed, closing the 5.1.1 threads seems a little overzealous from the mod.
It's certainly a good way to get users to turn to different forums.
I just take a look at the thred that we supposed to use and one guy was talking about root, other one about kernel, then one guy has problems after flashing French 5.1.1 ... And I don't think he will get any help there ... So ...my point has been proved again
Sent from my SM-G920F using XDA Free mobile app
I agree, the mega-threads are terrible. Any time I visit these forums I seek out the smaller threads with fewer replies, because I know they will have relevant information in them.
the mods here are just a bit silly... they've closed and merged a whole bunch of camera threads as well... it's hard to find info in that gigantic camera thread....
I'm hoping the mods see this and actually give us what we want. Does anyone out there actually prefer the megathreads?
I don't like the megathreads very much either, but they are better than the alternative, which is a ton of mini threads on the same topic. It is far easier to search a single thread than to search an entire forum or even worse...all of xda. These megathreads typically only appear in the forums of really popular devices, and I think it is the best way to manage the traffic so that more important stuff doesn't die under the weight of things like a thread for every carrier & country version of firmware, thousands of battery tweaks, millions of camera discussion threads, etc. It really is not about just closing stuff to follow some arbitrary rules, it really is about trying to optimize everyone's user experience.
If you have any ideas about how to better manage the megathreads, or if you think some threads have been closed unfairly, please feel free to PM me...I have big ears..
Thanks for trying to understand!
Note: This is NOT a place holder thread. It's just an official announcment.
Hey everyone. The source for Android N is released, and my friend, @Gustavo RD78 is currently busy on developing the Android Nougat Kernel for the Xperia Z2. He has already developed an awesome working Android N kernel for the Z3C, along with Android N FOR the Xperia Z3C. This kernel is currently under development, and if we can get this kernel working on our loved Z2, then we can all have a working Android Nougat ROM for our beloved Z2.
We currently also need kernel and ROM testers before we actually release it, to make sure there are minimal bugs in the kernel/ROM. To have access to this you must first read through the rules here down below...
1: I, and no one except YOU, is responsible for bricking your device if something goes wrong. Always make a backup. You should be responsible for YOUR actions, so be aware of that.
2: This is for BETA testers ONLY! Expect digital bugs crawling all over your Z2 screen! Be also very aware of that as well.
3: You must swear not to mirror or publicly share this ROM. Not only will others have to suffer with bugs and some occasional bricking, but all the blame will be placed on YOU.
4: You must help us out with at least one thing before we send you the link. (More info down below.)
5: You must follow these rules accordingly and honestly. Don't be rude to us if anything happens to YOUR device. Thank you for reading.
More info on getting Private BETA links...
To have access to the ROM/Kernel beta links, you have to PM me and not only beg for a link, but also promise at least one thing that you will help us out with, like Mirroring the ROM to a different website, or fixing a bug that may appear. All people doing this will be set onto a waiting list. Once we get too much people helping us with the same thing, like multiple people wanting to mirror to a certain link, then we will have to ask you to change your help to something else. Once link is set and ready to go, you will get a PM or Email to the Beta folder's link. If you prefer to be emailed the link, then just please include your email in the Beta test request PM, along with the sentence: "I prefer to be emailed via (insert email here.)" If you are not sent a link, then check down below if I sent the link already or not. If it says down below in this OP: "Status: Link sent to beta testers," and have not yet have gotten your link, then please contact me as soon as possible. Down below is a list of stuff that is already planned by people and not needed from others anymore.
Status: Kernel Under Development
Spots already taken and not needed:
-Mirroring to Google Drive.
-Mirroring to MEGA.
-Mirroring to Dropbox.
Thanks for reading all of this info and reading this announcement. Together we can all make Nougat a dream come true!
Nice start guys, but i can't send you a PM , lol... is there any problem or it's just my browser ...

This not good news at all, but my phone wont charge (unless I use magnetic) and won't send any data or receive data, I know that this is quite a let down! I originally had a charging port that had become faulty over time, so I bought a new one and soldered it on, but is not working the way it should ! I can still mirror the links and do some other things when they come up. Once again, I am so sorry for the letdown. Until I buy a new motherboard I cannot start any testing or debugging!
Hope you understand!

Mohamed
