Previously on Lollipop there was storage settings for SMS. Refer below link:

I cant find this on my Nexus 6P. I do not want my messages from being deleted which is happening automatically now. Please help me fix this.
Use the archive function on the stock messaging app. It seems to keep everything in the cloud as far as I can see and brings it back when you get a message from that person the next time. I could be wrong though.
If using hangouts then the following
Hangouts > settings > SMS > delete old messages (turn it off )

All operator settings are correct. I can send SMS and they are delivered, but (problem #1) outgoing SMS are not stored in the folder "Outbox".
Then, I can't receieve any SMS (#2). Actually, I do receive them, but the only way to learn about that is to keep looking on the screen, because when the device is turned off it will turn on for awhile and that's all. Messages are not even stored in device, so I can't read any of them.
Concerning e-mail: similar problems but not the same. I do not receive notification message or any sound. But incoming e-mails are stored and standart outlook says "x unread messages" or something like that. Outgoing mails are not stored either.
What I tried to solve these problem:
1. made a Backup - removed ALL installed programs = didn't help.
2. hard reset - everything works fine - restore Backup - sucks again...
I'm a newbie user of such kind of devices and a little bit desperate at the moment, so I would appreciate any help.
Thanks beforehand.
First ragarding the SENT ITEM, in OPTION you must enable this option
in SMS go to TOOLS then Option and put a check mark under "save a copy of sent messages in the sent item folder" (or something like this, I'm just translating French to English)
Second: after your hard reset, install your programs one at the time, and see if this still work.
Do not use your backup.
So you can see what program is interfering with the SMS fonction
And you can then eliminate the program that mess with your SMS
Hope that help
So I took a few pictures on my Atrix that I wanted to share via a text message...no go.
I have not downloaded any SMS/MMS appz from the marketplace, so using stock/default appz.
SMS is converted into MMS when i attached an image
Send
nothing, image is not sent (not showing in conversation log)
SMS is converted into MMS when i attached an image and add text
Send
nothing, image nor text (not showing in conversation log)
Is this a known issue?
Anyone else have this problem?
Whats the fix?
I'm using Handcent and dont have this problem.
The only way I know to do it is
Gallery > select picture > menu button > share > txt message > resize > send to person
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Had the same problem when I first got my Atrix. AT&T had disabled Text Messaging for my line. Other family lines were fine, but mine had been disabled...
No problem since then.. also using Handcent now!
Image is probably too big. Try resizing per what DarrellRaines said.
Hi. Have a Verizon s5. Was wondering. Even after I delete my messages in the stock messaging app. They still show up under phone -> recent -> all messages? Is there a way when I delete the messages from message app it's totally deleted. Instead of doing a double delete? Thanks
Try going to manage applications and look under all programs and clear cache on phone

I did that. Will show up again after u receive new text. Only solution I see is to delete it from messages and then also delete from recent messages.
I've searched and searched for a solution but to no avail. I have uninstalled hangouts updates and reinstalled. I put messaging classic on my N10.
There is no options anywhere to choose a default sms app. when I try to tap 'Message Classic is not your sms app' nothing happens.
It's like there is no sms capability at all other than sending a msg to another hangouts member.
If I go to settings>more there is no sms option.
I can use google voice app but that's it.
So has anyone with 4.4.4 been able to choose a default sms app and if so, how?
Thanks
So I have ATT advanced messaging turned on. The problem is that if I use an app besides smart switch to backup sms messages, it only captures received messages. Apparently it's some restriction with Advanced Messaging.
Does anyone know of a way to view smart switch backed up sms messages? I have a friend that lost our conversation, and I was trying to provide a copy but nothing seems to work. Thanks!
