I've searched and searched for a solution but to no avail. I have uninstalled hangouts updates and reinstalled. I put messaging classic on my N10.
There is no options anywhere to choose a default sms app. when I try to tap 'Message Classic is not your sms app' nothing happens.
It's like there is no sms capability at all other than sending a msg to another hangouts member.
If I go to settings>more there is no sms option.
I can use google voice app but that's it.
So has anyone with 4.4.4 been able to choose a default sms app and if so, how?
Thanks

Hello,
I cant believe that Galaxy S stock sms client cut of long sms messages and you have to dig deeper in the sms client to see the entire message.
Is there a way to change this behavior, so that you see the entire message in the stock sms threaded view ?
I have installed Handscent sms to solve the problem but it would be nice if the stock sms client could do the same.
And another question,
If I would like to change what starts if I press the "message icon" on the home screen from the stock sms client to Handscent sms client. Is there a way of doing that, so when I press the "message icon" Handscent sms start immediately.
Thanx for you time,

Dunno how handscent works, but just go to editmenu, and replace the messaging icon with the handscent icon?
edit: Applications -> menu -> Edit -> move the applications around
SWEET
I never understood that you could switch the home screen icons as well.
I'm impressed with that...not so much when they cut messages short but anyway...
Galaxy S is getting more and more pleasant to use

Hello,
I've got a weird problem I'm trying to solve with bettercut. I think it should be relatively easy, but I'm stumped and was wondering if somebody could help me out.
I use an HTC Legend and I like SenseUI too much to change to another launcher. I use an App called SMS Popup to notify me of new messages, but this app - combined with SenseUI - creates a bug with the default Messages shortcut.
Basically, when I mark a message as Read with the SMS Popup, the default Messages shortcut keeps the notification badge telling me I have unread messages. Which is annoying, because to fix this I have to go into the messaging app, scroll to the message I've already read in order to convince SenseUI I've read it.
So basically, what I'm trying to do with BetterCut is launch the SMS app without the system treating it as a Shortcut that needs a notification badge. I read all of my SMSs immediately mostly so I never need it to tell me how many I need to read.
So far, I have the intent as:
android.intent.action.RUN
and the data as:
com.android.MMS
However, when I select this shortcut, it says the app isn't installed.
So could somebody help me either:
1. Make a shortcut with BetterCut to the default Messaging app which won't show notification badges
or
2. Turn off notification badges entirely, because I don't use them for email either and they kinda piss me off.
Thanks!
PS. I've searched forums and google extensively for this, so I wouldn't be asking if I hadn't already tried
Cheers
EDIT: Ah, this was supposed to go in Android General. Sorry.
you can also opt for an other sms program at all
for ex http://www.appbrain.com/app/handcent-sms/com.handcent.nextsms
this is an sms manager with an popup function in one
Hi guys, tried searching the exisiting threads and read the help forum, but cant fina an naswer to my problem.
I downloaded and installed the jellybean messaging app for my S4 i9505 as I prefer this messager to the default Samsung one. But every time a message comes through I get two icons, two sound and two notifications for every message, So i uninstalled the default app thinking it just a shortcut to the messaging system and now no messages are coming through. I can still access my messages through the jellybean app.
Does anyone know hoe to recover the default messaging app?
Thanks
Actually would removing the default messaging app actually cause my phone to totally stop sending and receiving sms messages?
ok guys, so turns out it had just been disabled and appears way down at the bottom of the all apps section of application manager
So you can just re-enable it there. Although not sure if my sms is still working if not its obviously a network issue
I'm trying to synch Hangouts app as my default SMS provider, but there's no way in this ROM!
My problem is that I don't want to use two apps with notifications when one of them is capable of doing both tasks. When I had my nexus 5, I used to send and receive SMS only by using Hangouts (an app that I also use for many other things), but now I don't have any SMS options: Neither an option to choose the default app for SMS in my system nor a function in Hangouts to add my SMS number as an account.
Does anyone know how to sort it out?
Thank you!
Hangouts just removed SMS capability. You need a switch to a new SMS app.
But the last version of Hangouts of my Nexus has SMS capability, how can I get a similar version?
When I add another sms application to my Samsung S8 plus the messages I have sent do not appear in the new sms app. I only see the messages I received and I have gone in and made the new sms application the default app. I have tried using Google and Textra for sms with same results. Odd issue but I saw someone else posting about this on a different forum.
Anyone know why the messages I have sent are not showing up when trying to use a different sms application?
