Why messages still show up? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Have a Verizon s5. Was wondering. Even after I delete my messages in the stock messaging app. They still show up under phone -> recent -> all messages? Is there a way when I delete the messages from message app it's totally deleted. Instead of doing a double delete? Thanks

Try going to manage applications and look under all programs and clear cache on phone

I did that. Will show up again after u receive new text. Only solution I see is to delete it from messages and then also delete from recent messages.

Unread meaage found in notification but not in the app

I'm having a notification about this ONE message, and it keeps nagging me, but when i check Chomp or even the default SMS app i can't find the message anywhere, we've even tried sending a message again from that same number but the problem won't happen...now the only problem is that i can't seem to find that message and just delete it...it's very annoying!!!
PLS HELP
Problem solved...hehehe
how did you resolve it? i had the same issue, i tried different sms apps, backing up and clearing the messages and restoring it but that didn't help. i also tried a full factory reset.
what i was finally able to do was install handcent back up messages to a xml and edit the file to remove the message then restore my messages again.

how to restore default Samsung app

Hi guys, tried searching the exisiting threads and read the help forum, but cant fina an naswer to my problem.
I downloaded and installed the jellybean messaging app for my S4 i9505 as I prefer this messager to the default Samsung one. But every time a message comes through I get two icons, two sound and two notifications for every message, So i uninstalled the default app thinking it just a shortcut to the messaging system and now no messages are coming through. I can still access my messages through the jellybean app.
Does anyone know hoe to recover the default messaging app?
Thanks
Actually would removing the default messaging app actually cause my phone to totally stop sending and receiving sms messages?
ok guys, so turns out it had just been disabled and appears way down at the bottom of the all apps section of application manager
So you can just re-enable it there. Although not sure if my sms is still working if not its obviously a network issue

SMS storage limit

Previously on Lollipop there was storage settings for SMS. Refer below link:

I cant find this on my Nexus 6P. I do not want my messages from being deleted which is happening automatically now. Please help me fix this.
Use the archive function on the stock messaging app. It seems to keep everything in the cloud as far as I can see and brings it back when you get a message from that person the next time. I could be wrong though.
If using hangouts then the following
Hangouts > settings > SMS > delete old messages (turn it off )

Android Messages Limit ?

My Moto X pure (on At&t) just updated to 7.0 and the messaging app changed to android messages. I can't figure out how to set the text limit, also are these messages now saving to the cloud ? If so how many messages does it save ?
deleted
Stock app is now Android Messages by Google, not an AOSP app... It does not store messages to the cloud at all, and it doesn't have the ability to set message limits that I have found. If you want more control I would suggest trying an alternative message app like Textra SMS or something similar.
So how many messages are stored before they are deleted ?

Umm unlimited? If you do want to backup to the cloud and use Android messages, checkout an SMS backup and restore app on the play store.
