So I took a few pictures on my Atrix that I wanted to share via a text message...no go.
I have not downloaded any SMS/MMS appz from the marketplace, so using stock/default appz.
SMS is converted into MMS when i attached an image
Send
nothing, image is not sent (not showing in conversation log)
SMS is converted into MMS when i attached an image and add text
Send
nothing, image nor text (not showing in conversation log)
Is this a known issue?
Anyone else have this problem?
Whats the fix?
I'm using Handcent and dont have this problem.
The only way I know to do it is
Gallery > select picture > menu button > share > txt message > resize > send to person

Had the same problem when I first got my Atrix. AT&T had disabled Text Messaging for my line. Other family lines were fine, but mine had been disabled...
No problem since then.. also using Handcent now!
Image is probably too big. Try resizing per what DarrellRaines said.

So, I realized yesterday that my phone does not receive picture messages, I can send then just fine, as well as sms. I can even receive sms messages fine. I called tmo yesterday and they had me delete the "telkila" (sp?) apn to no avail.then they had me do wipe/factory reset. After all that I still don't receive mms. I'm out of town and plan to call them this afternoon when I get back home, but before I do, I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem or maybe has any suggestions. Rooted, using handcent sms...

I cannot send MMS and have not received any so IDK if people have tried to send me any or not otherwise I would be sure I had recieving MMS problems as well...
I can send and recieve SMS fine though..
I just sent an MMS (I think it went through...)...I think it depends on the method...it didnt work when I view the picture, tap on it, select the SEND OUT icon and then I tap Messages....
it DID work when I did this method:
I had the SMS open, clicked the PaperClip icon, attached the picture, then input the persons name....
weird? -maybe the expresso UI is interfering with froyos native mms ability?
I have a quick question. Is there a way to force a "text" message to be sent as MMS instead of SMS using the stock messaging app? It looks like right now, if the message is all text, then only after the 6th 140 character message will it convert to MMS, otherwise it stays on SMS and splits it into 6 SMS messages. I want to choose to convert it sooner if I want. Is that possible? I know that if I insert a picture then it will convert to MMS immediately, but I want text ONLY MMS. Thanks!

So I take it this is not possible?

Don't know why you want to force txt mssg to be sent as MMS but there is a setting in stock messaging app that combines all the split mssgs to be send as one whole mssg. Don't know if this what you want tho.

Create a google voice number. Then use that number with whoever you want to text as a group text. It'll become MMS instead of SMS for group texting.
Previously on Lollipop there was storage settings for SMS. Refer below link:

I cant find this on my Nexus 6P. I do not want my messages from being deleted which is happening automatically now. Please help me fix this.
Use the archive function on the stock messaging app. It seems to keep everything in the cloud as far as I can see and brings it back when you get a message from that person the next time. I could be wrong though.
If using hangouts then the following
Hangouts > settings > SMS > delete old messages (turn it off )
I sometimes take a photo and then share them via the camera app. I always choose GoSmsPro since it's the text messaging program I use. I then select the recipient and add a message. Clicking the send button does not send the message. It simply ques the message in GoSMSPro and makes me go into the app to send the message. I only found out about this when I never got a reply and went to make sure the image was sent. Additionally, GoSMSPro used to turn on my data network in order to send photos and then turn it off when finished. Now it simply tells me to check the network.
How do I get GoSmsPro to send the messages and insure that they actually go without having to compose the message in GoSmsPro since their add a photo feature is less than easy to use?
All I could think of to do is to enable your mobile data before you send, try sending, and if it goes through, disable it. My phone used to auto enable like yours did, but now it does not.

I'm having this strange issue where my messenger has decided to start converting conversations to MMS automatically for some reason. It seems to be when I am texting iphone users, but I can't 100% confirm that.
For simplicity's sake let's say I start a new text message conversation with someone. I add them to the recipients section and send them a message. First one works fine. Now I press the back key to go back to the screen where all my conversations are shown. Instead of the contact name that was there when I started conversation, the phone number is displayed followed by the @provider.com (IE [email protected]). If I go back into the conversation i get a little popup at the bottom saying "Converting to MMS." The contact at the top is still listed as the phone number and not the contact name. If I try sending a message it doesn't go through.
I scrolled through my conversation window and I noticed that my phone also converted several old conversations in this same fasion (changed the recipient to a [email protected]). Now anytime i need to send a text to one of these people I have to start a new conversation every single time.
I tried to clear cache out and data for the messaging app and it continued to happen. The weirdest part about this is that the default messaging app, and gosms both convert the conversations, but textra does not.
Has anyone ever experienced this type of behavior before? I did some googling but couldn't turn anything up.
Something similar: when I write slightly longer SMS, it tells me: converting to mms, and they don't go through. This didn't happen to my previous phones. . But I did not notice the change in recipient ID.

I think you cab set the max length inside an XML in system. I can't remember which duke though, sorry.
It sounds like you have a short limit, which causes the text to become an MMS.

try another sms app!
if it works fine with another app then go to setting > apps > select samsung sms app > storage : clear cache & data then force stop!
:good:
