S-View Cover Scratched Screen? Samsung sent a shipping label - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently bought an S6 Edge+ and an S-view cover case for it. The case with the square window cut out. The case has scratched my phone screen. I called Samsung and they said they cover the S-View clear case but I didn't get any information about the S-View cover.
I called them a few times and they gave me a case number and a shipping label. I was wondering if they are for certain going to change my screen or inspect and return it if they believe it's "fine". Their customer service is horrible.
Does anyone have any experience with sending in their phone for repair?
Thanks,

somewhere around online (do a bit of searching for it, its not too hard to find) there is the leaked samsung repair guide for this - search for it based on the clear cover case though.. it describes the exact process that they will follow to assess the damage and what they will or won't do in regards to it

Warning: Not only Clear View but S View Cover scratches phone too

Samsung is offering warranty for those people with clear view cases scratching the screen but they have no official statement regarding the s view cover. Samsung came with an official response after an XDA thread on the issue, so I would like to know if other people are affected too.
I would love to show some photos but they are extremely hard to shoot with my htc m7
(clear view thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...s/samsung-view-case-scratched-screen-t3107467 )
Lo mate!
I can confirm that they also change the screen on warranty when it got scratched by an official s-view cover. It happened to me a month from now, i wrote an email to samsung support describing my complain and also included some pictures of the issue.
As you mentioned it is not easy to do good pictures of it but i recommend you a really bright light source above it and then playing around with the right angle...
Don't forget to include a copy of your bills for the cover and the phone. Afaik they only do it for phones not older than 3 months.
They told me to bring the phone to the next samsung support center with the email printed out and there they changed the screen.
I must confess that after all this was really nice customer support :good:
On the first day i got my phone back i installed a screen protector
Greetings from austria :highfive:

my phone is older than 3 months, I really hope they will fix the screen, the damage is so clearly caused by the s-view window, the bottom half of my screen is pristine, the top half full with deep scratches (which I can even feel with my fingertips) mostly in the same direction too (parallel to the width of the phone). I am quite pissed already, the s view cover was quite expensive too. Today they will pick up the phone, I will report back later

I totally understand you mate, i was also really pissed about the issue as it clearly was because of the original samsung s-view cover which they sell as a compatible cover to protect the screen and not to be the cause of the scratches!
I wish you all the best and good luck! :highfive:

That's how mine also looked like. :crying:
I hope they change the design of the s-view cover (it would be enough if they would raise the clear part a little bit - like it was on all previous s-view covers..) until now i will stay with my wallet-flip cover.
I'ts a pitty that the s-view feature can't be used at the current state!
ps: when using the wallet flip cover also never ever put a credit-card into the designed slot as it will also scratch your screen! - they really must improve their overall cover designs...
My screen got replaced under warranty but they asked me to send me both phone and cover and they only returned the phone, so to be continued because the cover was pretty expensive too

Good to hear your screen was replaced! :highfive:
But don't put the cover back on the phone without a good screen protector!
Denmark - Yes - I can indeed second that - that the S -view cover is poorly constructed - Cause my wife and i experienced the exact same thing. We have 2 S6's and we bought both the s-view cover and used it from day one so the are not 3 months old. We contacted the stored where we bought them - and they refused to replace the screens so now i have to struggle with Samsung. It is clearly where the window are placed on the cover it is as it is transferred onto the screen itself. I will call them today when i get home form work! I will let you know how it goes.
What are those cases made of? Sandpaper? How can a case scratch a screen? Is it the case itself or sand particles which trapped between the case and the screen?

I have no idea - but the facts speak for it self - sorry i don't have any pictures yet. Even though the transparent cover plastic is build in the cover the concentration of
the scratch's is around within the area of the window. My previous 2 year old S4 with no screen Cover had fever scratches after 2 years - something is clearly wrong.
We are still waiting for the phones to come back for inspection - then i will post some pic's.
Yes - The Samsung support Organisation in Denmark will not replace the displays because they claim they have no fault in this. I am sorry to say i am very disappointed with Samsung's poor decision and they claim they have no knowledge of this issue with the S-view flip cover, even though their own support specialist knew of the issue. Next time i will not go for a Samsung i am also tired of all their bloatware! So i can clearly support this claim that S-view scratches up your phone. :-/

What is rma i am new here and i dont know too much about android
RMA is the process of sending the phone back and getting a new one.
Short of cleaning the lense, if it is internal to the phone you will void your warranty if you do anything else but wipe it.
Have you tried cleaning the outside of the black visor? If so, then it's most likely underneath the visor, or even worse, inside the phone itself.
You could try to RMA the phone if you bought it directly from google (think Google Store and not BestBuy, or Amazon or eBay). If not, you could try to send to a Huawei repair store to have them fix it ; not sure if this covered under warranty or not. If both of these isn't available then you can always attempt to open the visor and check. It's pretty simple, but not easy: heat up the visor part to loosen the glue, try to pry it up with a razor blade while make sure it doesn't break, since the visor itself is pretty fragile. You can find the tutorial in ifixit's teardown of the 6P here, and the replacement part here
Thanks but in Cyprus google store is not available. How can contact Google to send my phone?

Front Glass replacement question

Hello everyone. So here am I, with a gorgeous S7 edge. The thing made it that some weeks ago this glass thing slipped through my fingers (even tough I had a case on it) and if felt exactly on one of the lower end corners, crackind it's screen. It's not a big deal, just 1-2 inches there, but the problem is that it is. And I struggled to hold on with this visual problem (since the display is fortunately intact), I still want to replace it's glass.
Well, since in my country the screen replacement almost costs half of the price I gave on this phone, I started to have different questions about the repairing, the most important of all being this one: Will replacing the glass remove it's water ingress protection? The repair shop advertises that it offers lamination as repair process, wich in theory should maintain the water protection, but since I can't find any certain answer to this question, I am hoping to find it somewhere here. So, anyone who replaced their phone's glass still has water protection or not? Thanks for checking by, and any answer will be greatly appreciated.
PS: Happy holidays to everyone. :victory:
Front glass cannot be replaced WITHOUT DAMAGING THE SCREEN, so you had to live with it, or go to authorized samsung repair center and give them the fee for glass repair, if your screen is damaged during replacing they MAY OR MAY NOT fix it for free depending on your country. As far as water protection, only samsung repair center can guarantee the water protection after repair. Can't say anything about local repair shops.

Ok, thanks for the info. Well, many repair stores in my local area now are repairing the glass without damaging the screen, and they guarantee the success, damaging the display (if it's the case) being paid from their side. I was just wondering if it's a posibility to maintain the water resitance after the repair, but I'll try to contact a samsung repair center and a local shop to see the fees and the posibility exists.

No one can guarantee this bro, even newly box packed phone cannot guarantee water resistance* as water resistance is NOT by any means waterproofed. Good luck

what u talkin? I've had glass replaced, The glue is removed with very cold temperature, without damaging screen.
any repair dont guarantee waterproof, even when original.
I've paid about 120$ in Poland for oca film. if you have courage nad ability to change it yourself, then repair would cost about 10$
When you go to Samsung they will replace both glass and display , the will re waterproof your phone as a policy , Everytime they open up the phone it has to be waterproofed .

Cracked glass on the front.

Do any one what shall be the repair cost for the only glass replacement on the front, or shall be the whole digitizer be replaced.
Has any one got any Information please share, As I purchased online and I am middle of nowhere in Saudi and it is hard to find a Samsung service center near by.
I don't think there is a glass only replacement for this device, though I could be wrong. In the event that you have to replace the entire screen, here in Malaysia, samsung charges around $250 USD for it to be replaced. It is terribly expensive, I know.
Samsung wont replace only glass of the screen. They will replace all screen with price about $200-250. And maybe that contains new frame and new battery too.

In 250 USD I can get a new Note FE, Here in Saudi Arabia, Thanks to all for the help.
I had my own Note FE in it's Samsung Smart cover case but it fell from my coat waisi pocket into the pavement and it got out of the case and cracked the top right corner of the screen.
Not big damage but I'm easily annoyed with that kind of stuff. There is a service shop here in the UK that offers screen repair for the Note FE for 110gbp. I have emailed them and I'm waiting for their réponse to confirm the details. If they can fix it indeed, then immediately after I'm getting an otterbox defender case to put it inside and have it fully protected from all sides...!

Samsung Note FE replacement batteries

Hi,
Does anyone know where we can find its replacement batteries? I've looked online and cannot find any dealer for it. I can open the back glass and take out the battery, but I can't find a source for it. On another note (pun not attended), I can't find the replacement back adhesive either, meaning phone will no longer be IP68 water proof.
