I am chatting with T-Mobile customer service now, we'll see what they say but as of now if I go online a T-Mo page pops up and this is what I get:
"To connect to the web with the device you are using, you will need a webConnect data plan"
Did anyone have anything like this happen to them?
same problem here. i called they had no idea plan looked fine and told me i would need to call htc. weird thing is i have a nokia n900 that is fine i swapped the sims and same message on the nexus but the n900 still works.
Same here, I hope they fix it soon. Worked fine last night.
Did it just start for you? I didn't notice until early this morning. This might be happening all over. The t_mobile said my network needed to be updated. Had me remove the battery and still nothing. She then said it's outta her hands and gave me a Google number.
I am not calling yet. Still waiting to see what happens. Thing is, I can go to google and search -- results come up. So the web is working, its just like t-Mo restricts it when trying to go any further.
The lady said they might have me swap out the phone. But my phone is perfect - no dust, or anything like that, so I will do what it takes to not do that.
I am guessing this rep doesn't know what's going on. At least I hope.
EDIT: I am from the Philadelphia area BTW.
Double Failure in West Texas, best I can say it it was around 2:30am Mountain. TWO Nexus (Nexi?) crapped at the same time, wifi connection still worked.. just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they tried to pass me off to Google and I dug in heels and got a supervisor... and he said they had a LOT of calls coming in for the same thing. Got them to file a trouble ticket. Gotta be something in their network, was SHOWING a solid 4 bars of 3G AND/OR EDGE (I swapped them by hand) and nutting, nada.. "you need a webconnect data plan"... and they checked our account and it was all set up right.
Sounds like someone farkled something up real good.
Wow so it doesn't seem to be just in my area. I too always get 3-4 bars of 3G. I wonder if this is just a problem for N1's?

I moved the sim card over to one of my old G1's (thank goodness still had battery in it) and things worked just fine.. so yeah, someone ginked the T-Mobile network to.. not recognize the N1 for a data plan? Since it's 'not a T-Mobile device'??? Ohhhhh this is gonna get ugly..
This just popped up on the T-Mobile forums...
"Nexus Webconnectivity Issues: 1/29/10 (starting around 3:30am cst)
There is apparently an issue going on with web connections that started around 3:30am cst today. A phone call to T-Mobile tech support got routed to HTC tech support, and they are well aware of the issue. They say they have been flooded with calls regarding the issue. As of 6:30am, they have no idea what is causing the problem but are looking to the issue. They hope to get the issue resolved as soon as they can identify the problem. If anyone representing T-Mobile can get us more information, it sure would be appreciated. Tech support was rather vague."
Just out of curiosity, is anyones nexus 1 receiving data on T-Mobile right now?
Only via WiFi
webConnect data plan
Same thing just happened to me at about 7:45 am. It was working fine earlier this morning, then suddenly I get the webConnect data plan message and it won't connect over 3G or Edge. I live in Indianapolis, IN.
Wow why now, when I'm ordering mine today. =/
Something tells me that its a scheme of them trying to lock everyone into that awful 500a month 80 dollar plan...
Same Issue in NYC as well!
I have called T-Mobile and HTC. This is without a doubt a TMO problem and the reps have no clue! All they do is switch you over to HTC Tech support, lol! The endless loop until someone figures out whats wrong.
Out of curiosity, are those that are having problems currently enrolled with the G1 data plan? I am still using my older G1 data plan for 24.99 per month and was told I did not have to change my plan.
Also, its not totally out. My VOIP software is working and connecting fine. Seems to be only web browser.

So it twitter connectivity via API
I'm thinking Old Data Plans are the problem!
I am thinking the only N-1s with a problem are G-1 converts that have older "cheaper" data plans. TMO can't force you out of that plan but maybe they tried switching something and forgot to include that! Maybe a stupid idea but it is a feasible one. The newer "android" plans are alot more money!
I'm on the android plan and not working
Maps and G mail also broke.
My cellphone's internet stopped working. I had the 4G status icon and 4 great bars, but the browser, twitter, market, still would not work. After pulling out the battery several times, playing with the settings, etc. I turned 4G off and then all of a sudden the cell worked on 3G.
I showed up at the Sprint store and they told me "....hmmm, you know, the satellites,... you know.... are not working...... mine doesn't work neither...." (sic) It was true. The salesperson's EVO wasn't working either.
OK. they showed me a terminal screen stating that 4G was not working as expected, they were preforming tests.
The problem is that for about an hour I thought my phone had gone bad, until it occurred to me that I should turn 4G off. Then it worked, slow, but it worked. (to tell you the truth, I even went back to factory settings).
I told them that out of courtesy, they should send affected costumers a SMS or email advising about the 4G outage.
I noticed the same thing. Didn't realize it was because of an outage though. What's weird is that 4g service worked great via the hotspot. Just not on the handset. Weird, right?
I don't know what you are talking about....I'm in NYC and 4g is working fine for me ....I am using it right now.
I am on cm7 but that shouldn't make a difference.

yes, that's what I mean. You get the 4G icon and you think everything is fine. But it works only partially, so it's hard to realize that you need to disable 4G in order to get the internet working...

It worked for me again for 30 minutes then the internet (browser) wouldn't work again, so I disabled 4G again. It wasn't working for any of the guys at the Sprint store. So it must be on and off. I also asked them when was this outage going away, they couldn't answer. they just told me if I go to another tower (area) it might work.
It wouldn't turn on for me today around 4. I needed it to refresh my twitter faster so I can get free UFC tix from Dana lol but I didn't get crap

Same here- I work in midtown (east 50s); for the past couple of days, 4G has been intermittent at best (for me, whether on the handset, via wireless tether or via easytether)- but today, it just went out altogether. shows as connected and getting 2 or even 3 bars, but it won't connect to email, browser etc. when using the speednet app, I usually get time outs (999ms ping), but occasionally will go thru and get about 2 down/1 up (vs 5-7 down when working).
I guess I'd be a lot more pissed off about it if I hadn't picked up a Thunderbolt this morning... as much as I like Sprint and my Evo, that damn LTE has got some serious speed to it.

noticing the same issues in Chicago. Have been intermittent the past two days, and I can't even connect to 4G today.
4G is currently working in Inwood (Manhattan) but it wasn't this morning. ....
Rhis morning I had the 4G icon with 4 bars, but the internet would not work.

I was having the same issue in Chicago this morning. Seems to be working as of about 15 mins ago though.
I've been having problems in downtown Columbus, OH for about 12 hours now. Couldn't connect to it last night to update my Facebook (I was at a hockey game). My GPS still worked though, as I'm an avid Foursquare user.
Hope Sprint gets this fixed soon, if I wanted only 3g I'd have stuck with one of the Desire Z roms
Ok now I'm getting the 4g issues. I'm in S.I. and my 4g works but speeds have dropped from close to 1mbps to 200-300kbps....
Did anyone's 4g get fixed in NYC? ....mine is still really slow...its actually just as fast as my horrible 3g speeds
Still having horrible 4g in NYC ...I did a chat support with Sprint ....they told me to do a profile update ....which did not help....then the Rep said they sent some provisioning over the air to my phone which did not help either.....is anyone else still having slow 4g in NYC or is it just me???
NYC reception in general
So all this talk about a AT&T taking over of Tmobile has brought me to Sprint as my new carrier. Ill be picking up the EVO 4G. Can anyone tell me how there reception is in and around the city "NYC/Queens"? In general is there good 4G reception.
Thanks.
I've never had good 4g here in Canarsie, Brooklyn.
Ok finally sprint fixed something......my 4g speed are back I'm getting 1000+kBps
Anyone recently have any issues in NYC with their evos on 4G? I haven't been able to connect for almost a week. I called Sprint yesterday and they said they are having 4G issues. They gave me a $25 credit for my inconvinience. Hell all I want is my coverage back on.
After dealing with Sprint's shoddy service and $100+ bill every month, you can guess how excited I was when my contract was finally up a few months ago. I started looking for something cheaper and better. I heard about Straight Talk's BYOP plan for $45/month, and I decided to give it a go.
Seeing as AT&T has better coverage in my area, I ordered a Nexus S i9020a ($130 on eBay), and an AT&T sim. After receiving both in the mail, I activated my SIM card, slipped it in my phone, programmed the APN settings, and off I went. It wasn't long before I noticed there were some issues. My phone would constantly disconnect from 3G/HSDPA, and there were some serious latency problems (1 minute+ before downloads started). Web pages would take up to 2 minutes before they loaded, etc. Seeing as I used Google Voice, this was unacceptable. When placing phone calls, it wouldn't even connect 2/3 times. When it did connect, it would take at least 20 seconds before hearing the connecting tone, and call quality was terrible.
Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. But I wasn't ready to jump ship and sign another contract just yet. I rooted my Nexus S and installed CM10 (stable), hoping that my problems would be solved, but to no avail. I just couldn't figure it out. Was there something wrong with my phone's hardware? Software, perhaps? Settings? Maybe there's something wrong on Straight Talk's end. Customer service couldn't figure it out, either.
I was nearing the point where I was going to sell my phone, buy a GSII, and head over to Solavei. I took one last desperate look through the Nexus S forums, as I was dreading the switch. I stumbled upon the i9020 radio thread
/showthread.php?t=1116884
I don't know why I didn't think of it before! A radio issue! Of course! My Nexus S had radio version UCKJ1, which was the most recent. I saw that people have had a lot of success with the KB3 radio, so I crossed my fingers, flashed it, did some build.prop modifications, and restarted my phone twice.
IT WORKED! I'm getting a constant HSDPA signal, no latency issues, phone calls are going through perfectly, downloads start right away! Now I see what all the buzz is about! Straight Talk's service is awesome! And I'm only paying $45/month!
If you're having issues with your i9020a on Straight Talk... try radio KB3. Happy Surfing Everyone!
So, since the forum search won't work... I'm making a new thread.
I was previously running Chroma ROM and I couldn't get my Project Fi sim to work for the life of me, so I figured it was the sim card that was the problem and I ordered a new one. New one arrived Monday, popped that sucker in and... nothing, still not working, so I reluctantly reverted to stock OTA and finally got it to read the sim card. Everything was working well except I cannot get a signal from T-Mobile on band 12. I'm in a area where band 12 is the only T-Mobile coverage. According to their map I should be getting "Good Signal" outdoors and somewhat indoors, well I get nothing, zip, notta. Now while I do get 1-2 bars on sprint 3g, I would obviously prefer T-Mobile LTE for many reasons. But even using the dialer codes to force T-Mobile, it would just time out or revert back to sprint after 5 minutes of no signal. So I chatted with a Project Fi rep and she tried her best but couldn't figure it out. So that is why I am here. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please help. Other than stock I do have the bootloader unlocked but that shouldn't matter. So if there is some magic script or file(s) I need to delete/change, let me know. Thanks everyone!
Oh, and I was running a verizon sim before that and was having the LTE bug. That's why I switched to Fi.

Where do you live, check this link if you haven't already and make sure you're in one of the good areas and not near the edges. That's all I can think of.

I was previously on Verizon and was running PureNexus, I connected to T-Mobile just fine on band 12, but my problem was it never connected to Sprint.
So ive had the phone since launch and in the past 3-4 months i'd lose signal quite often during normal usage. But in the past month it happens pretty much every time I use it. Im on T-Mobile and I know they had some problem with the Nexus phones on their service back in August but I thought that would have been fixed by now. And then an hour ago I lost service and I cannot get it back at all no matter what I do. Im on stock 7.0 Nougat, non rooted. Ive tried all the resetting methods and what not but no go.
Any help would be appreciated, hopefully its not hardware related
I don't think it's hardware. I have the same issue on my device. Rebooting usually brings it back for me for a while

Same issue here... I RMA'd my device last week and same exact issue on this new device. I'm also on T-Mobile and I even got a new sim...
If you keep up with T-mobile news. They've been getting outages intermittently in certain locations.
It's gotten so annoying I can't even use the phone unless I'm on wifi. It cuts off service like every 10 seconds no matter how strong the signal is
I've attached a pic of the service menu.. Everytime the service goes out it always switched to the CDMA network even tho T-Mobile is LTE and what not
mines been doing this too, even wifi calling will go to no service sometimes.
I've only noticed it since I've been on benzo rom tho, not sure if its related.
OK so my theory was true, tested it many times.. looks like something in software or hardware of the 6p is making it switch from LTE to CDMA causing it to drop service and then I have to manually switch it back to LTE
I feel as though it's related to the cell towers. I spent the weekend in DC and I didn't have any issues whatsoever. I came home to Pittsburgh and within 30 minutes if being home I had my first loss of service
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I'm in Atlanta where they should have good service but it's everywhere around here it happens
I just opened a ticket with T-Mobile so I'll follow up with whatever feedback they provide me withing the next 72 hours!
