credit card charges by google - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just had a quick question about how Google charges your credit card.
I was charged first time during pre-ordered by "GOOGLE *Devices" and that was removed after a few days. Now my status changed to processing and I have two charges from Google:
$538.92 by "GOOGLE *Devices"
-$538.92 by "GOOGLE *King"
Why double charges and offset each other? I don't remember this occurring when I purchased Nexus 7 and Nexus 5.
Thanks in advance!

Google has temporarily disabled Wallet provisioning

For those that use the Google Prepaid card portion of Wallet, Google has disabled provisioning for the time being.

"Second, we also take concrete actions to help protect our users. For example, to address an issue that could have allowed unauthorized use of an existing prepaid card balance if someone recovered a lost phone without a screen lock, tonight we temporarily disabled provisioning of prepaid cards. We took this step as a precaution until we issue a permanent fix soon"
This means you cannot add funds to your Google prepaid card (I found out first hand this morning), and I assume you won't have access to any balance that is currently on the card (I haven't confirmed this yet as I don't have a large enough balance to try to make a purchase).
It appears that you can use your current pre-paid balance for making a purchase, but you can't add funds to the account until Google re-enables provisioning.
"Cannot contact bank" soo stupid.
Verizon is probably behind this!?!
Verizon is not behind it, Google is worried about the security of the app that's why it has disabled the functionality of adding new funds. That number you should see where it currently says "can not contact bank'' is suppose to be your card number (similar to a credit card number). I assume a fix should be pushed this week.

That's strange. I was able to access and add funds to my account this morning.

yeah it let me add funds too then promptly went back down "not available at this time" I am usually pretty understanding but I am starting to get a little frustrated.

25$ play credit got added on wrong account

Hi Guys,
My sister bought me a Nexus 7 (BTW I live in India). Before sending it to me she unknowingly added her google account (assuming doing a factory reset later before she sends it to India). so the 25$ credit is added to her account now. Is there anything now I can do to get it transferred to my account. Does contacting google helps anything here ? She tried resetting/adding my account. nothing changed at all. Any suggestions for this awkward situation ?
My second account told me I have a free 25 credit waiting for me once I added a credit card to the play store so try that maybe?

So, you've gotten two $25 credit on 2 different Google accounts ( one $25 credit per account) using the same Nexus 7? I thought they closed that loop hole.

This worked in the UK at least, for me & a friend who bought a Nexus 7 from me after I'd already entered my Google Account details. And no I didn't get the Play credit twice! We each got it.
1. Make sure you have a Play account with a working credit card - make a test purchase of eg a free ebook (like the N7 guidebook!) to make sure the Play store recognises your credit card. Even using an initial instead of full name etc may throw it - make sure the details in your Play account exactly match your name etc as on your credit card. Or you could try buying a cheap ebook or app, but the free one worked to "activate" the account.
2. Once the Play store definitely recognises your credit card on your account, ie if the test "purchase" went through OK, go to your Nexus 7 and do a factory reset - but be warned that this will wipe out all your existing data. (Settings, under Personal it's Backup & reset, then Factory data reset).
3. After the factory reset, enter your own Google Account details into the Nexus 7. That should do it, you should get the email about your credit.
Hope that helps.

Where is my $25 credit + goodies?

I ordered the Nexus 7 and activated it today. When looking in the account I activated it on I see no mention of the $25 Play store gift card or the free movie and other stuff that should be included according to the product page. I looked at some other threads about this and they all said "it should be there" and I don't see it! I looked in Google Wallet and in my Purchase History in the Play Store and saw nothing! What am I missing? Or am I just a Bad Luck Brian that just doesn't get the gift card?
Thanks.
You don't get the freebies until you physically have the device in your hands and activate it.

Same here. I received the email within seconds of activating the device. You sure you actually don't have it? Check your balance at the play store and see. The email may have gone to your spam box. Just a thought.
The other thing is - did you get yours from the play store or a 3rd party? The cynic in me wonders whether someone purchased it, returned it, and Google play sees that device as already having received the freebies.

I bought mine from staples and I unboxed it, signed into google, saw the credit email in my gmail inbox, then unlocked and rooted and wiped the hell out of it and flashed a custom rom and kernel.
I thought maybe I wasn't going to get the other freebies because I searched google play store and they weren't free. But it was user error, I just had to install the specific apps for google magazines and google movies and books.

Activated it in the USA and I never got an email or anything! Very confused and I wonder if the latest batch of units have the deal expired maybe?
Edit: yes I bought it from google. I looked through my spam folders in a eventually found the message and it mentioned free content but the link sent me to Google help and I can't find the content.

It'll send the credit and extras to the first account you set up. I have two, my old one one for apps, and a newer one one for my gmail and music. I set up my email/music first when I got the N7 and it gave the credit to that.
Also, pretend like you're going to buy something and when it goes to the choosing payment section look in the drop down for the $25 credit.

I tried this and the gift card did not appear on the drop down. Nor can I find my freebies anywhere besides in the email mention from Google. I would like to mention I had changed my email address a few days prior to ordering Nexus 7 and all of the order emails including the one mentioning the gift card arrived in the old inbox.
Just tried changing the email back and looking in Google Play but still can't find the goodies or the giftcard so I changed back the email.
You have a really good reason to call customer support.
They will probably enjoy a call from someone they can help, and is not yelling at them.
Should be easily fixable.
He said to do a factory restore. Ugh, I just got this thing all set up!
Now that all my data is gone and lost, I got the email saying I got the giftcard!

Unless they fixed it you can get the $25 on multiple accounts from 1 device. I got two other people $25 dollar credits just from letting them sign in on my device so someone else getting the freebies isn't possible. Neither is getting multiple credits on one account even if you sign on two different devices. Also you have to have a credit card tied to your Google account to get the $25 credit

Factory Data Reset worked for me also
I am glad I found this post. I was getting aggravated that I could not get my credit.
The Factory Data Reset worked for me also. Once I activated it the credit was there automatically.
Now to reload all my apps, music, and books again.
But it was worth.
You guys should have just made a backup with the Nexus Toolkit. :/

I got my nexus 7 as a gift. When I activated it I didn't get the credit or the other stuff. I did the factory reset (several times actually) but to no avail. When I go to buy an app, there is an 'add card for $25' option which does nothing when I add cards. I tried deleting all my cards, doing a factory reset and none of that made a difference either. I tried calling customer support a couple days ago and he had to escalate since he didn't know how to fix it. I'm still waiting to hear back.
Isn't this your post too?

Yeah. Still haven't figured anything more out yet

Is there a way to contact Google via email to sort this issue out? The Contact Google page doesn't actually offer any email or something.
The factory restore didn't work for ya? Asked Google if there was any other way and they said no. Their number is found on Nexus support page.

[Q] About order status.

Hey, I ordered today the nexus 4 from the google play store in the US.
And my order status is still on "Pre-ordered" on the My Orders & Settings page
and "Your order has been sent to Google Inc" on google wallet.
The weird thing is, I has already been charged for the price of the device, even though there is no progress with my order.
Is this normal or something is wrong with my order? I am also afraid to cancel it and re-order, because I has already been charged.
Thanks in advance!
That can`t be happening

Google play cancellation outside the us!

Hello everyone!
Two days ago I ordered the nexus 4 from Google play store
Everything went smooth and the device was on pending state.
Today I received a message from Google that my order was canceled
I don't know what the reason is but Google sent me this reasons

The address information provided was incomplete and could not be verified.

Have you called them first off to find out what happened? All I can think of is that you goofed up your billing address for the credit card or maybe Google rejected it if the shipping address used and the billing address of the credit card are different. All the shipping addresses I use along with my credit cards are in Google wallet so they know I use different shipping addresses from that of my billing address and they are approved.
Should also make note that Google won't ship to an address outside of the location of the play store used. So for instance they would cancel your order if you placed it at the US store and put in a delivery address in Germany.

Is this your first one? It sounds like they think you are buying too many at once, but it also sounds like they think you are using a fraudulent credit card.
Some details:
In the settings tab I filled the US friend details (including the *name* and the address)
In the payment methods tap I filled *my* name and my credit card details US address and US phone
Maybe Google canceled the order because the unmatched names?

They probably canceled it because you are using your friends name and address and it doesn't match the billing name and address of the credit card. Which is a huge red flag for fraud and most company's should deny an order placed this way as it looks like a stolen credit card. Your credit card company could also have denied the charge for the exact same reason. To your credit card company it would look like your friend was using your card and if he's not an authorized user, his name has to be in their records, then they will deny the charge.

All I need to do is to match the names in the settings and in the payment methods?
It would not cause any problems in the shipping info?

If you use your name and his address as the shipping address it should work. If not then you could add his address into Google Wallet as a valid shipping address, if you have access to Google Wallet that is where you live. Some companies will only ship to addresses that you have registered with them if it is different from your billing address.
