LG G2 Rooted On Stock Rom- No "Software Update" In Settings - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

"Software Update" option doesn't exist. Stock AT&T G2, rooted, Jelly Bean.
Hopefully this is just a really quick question...
I never updated my phone ever since it came out two years ago, so it's been on Jelly Bean.
I decide to update today but the option for 'Software Update' under 'About phone' isn't there. Neither is 'Update Center' in the settings menu.
I don't remember exactly what I did when I first got my phone, but I do know that it's rooted and is on the stock ROM. I've read that rooting shouldn't affect OTA updates, so I'm kind of confused about why this option doesn't exist. I thought that even if it was never pushed to my phone, the option should still exist in the menu?
Also, flashing firmware or doing anything that would wipe my phone isn't an option I would consider.
Thanks for any help.

Won't that flash my firmware and clear all my data? Not an option I'm willing to consider at all.

[Q] How to remove OTA downloaded Kitkat firmware

hi,
I have recently received the Kitkat 4.4 OTA download for Kitkat for my Galaxy S4. Having heard issues with the SDcard access by certain apps, I would prefer to remain on Jellybean 4.3. However, having received the firmware downloaded onto my S4, I keep getting reminders to update my firmware every 3 hours (maximum that I can delay it).
Is there a way to delete the downloaded Kitkat 4.4 firmware? I don't have much space on my S4 internal storage and I would like to remove it as well as the irritating notifications. My S4 is not rooted.
Thanks for any help!
You can't delete it, but u can disable for no receive notifications about. Go to Menu Settings- More - About device - System update and untick there: "Automatic Update" and "Only Wi-fi" and reboot ur phone :highfive:

Thanks for the advice, but I have already done that and the notification remains intact.
Can't take the constant nag screen to update much more...

[Q] [HELP]Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 OTA URL

Hi XDA,
I have a Singtel(Code: SIN) Galaxy S4 International LTE version on XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2. I've recently rooted my phone, and started playing around with my system. However, soon I found out about the 'Custom' Device Status preventing software updates and wanted to re-flash back to stock un-modified official Samsung 4.4.2 Kitkat ROM. I didn't want to use Odin and flash the .tar.md5, as I felt that that wasn't the real "Official" ROM. I wanted the Kitkat flashable zip from Samsung's FOTA servers, but I couldn't find the link. I Googled all over and nobody knew. I would appreciate anyone's help in finding the URL for the flashable ROM zip file. Thanks a lot! I'll need the zip ASAP, as my father wasn't pleased with me modifying my phone either.
Use Triangle Away for reset your flash counter and change the status CUSTOM to Official. This is a good way for receive OTA/Kies 3 updates :highfive:

I'm sorry, I'm afraid you don't get me. By "Official", I mean in Settings>About Device>Status, under "Device Status", it says "Official", not "Custom". Triangle Away only sets the "Current Binary" to "Samsung Official", but not the one under the Settings app. If the one under Settings isn't "Official", you won't be able to use Samsung's OTA update feature. However, Triangle Away only allows you to claim warranty, but not software update.

[Q] Can't update to 4.4.4

I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 (I337) It's unlocked and currently using it on T-Mobile's network.
It's running Android 4.4.2 and I am trying to update to Android 4.4.4 but it always says "Software Update Interrupted" & when I try to update again it says "Software up to date, try again in 24 hours".. I contacted AT&T and they said to turn data off and leave WiFi on and try again. I did and this time it did take longer to look for update but it said the same thing again. I contacted Samsung and they told me to try the "Samsung Kies 3" method, I did but it said " 'SGH-1337' does not support initializing." I told Samsung & they told me to go to a local Best Buy and ask them to upgrade the software for me.... But I don't really have time for that, so can somebody please tell why it's doing this / how can I fix this problem? / how can I update it?...
By the way, no , my phone isn't rooted.
Reset
Try removing youre sim card and doing a factory reset and go through the setup only connected to wifi and then check to see if it will upgrade that way

Are you rooted? Once it downloads it probably won't flash correctly.
Do you have a ATT SIM card? I believe you HAVE TO be connected to ATT to get the update. It won't update if your on T-Mobile network.
What firmware are you on? Depending on what firmware you are on you should be able to find the stock .cfg file here in this forum somewhere. You MAY need to INCREMENT each update manually though. For example if your on NB1 you would need to flash in stock recovery the .cfg file for the next firmware to NC1. THEN flash the next .cfg from NC1 to NJ4 (or something along those lines with each firmware). NJ4 is the newest so you will end up there.
Give more info on what your firmware is? If rooted or stock? If custom recovery or stock? Any other info so others can help guide you better.

[Help] Unrooted my device (ze551ml). How to I upgrade to M now?

Hey everyone.
I have Zenfone 2 ze551ml (ASUS_Z00AD) for a year.
Apparently, it was rooted by the seller, I wasn't actually aware of it being rooted, acknowledged it only after I had tried to install some applications required for my job - they wouldn't install on a rooted device for security reasons. And I haven't used any benefits from my device being rooted (Are there any at all just because of the fact it is rooted?).
Later I found out that while rooted you don't really get any updates unless you manually upload them to your phone.
So last night I did unroot my device using "SuperSU" app. The only difference I've noticed - there is a lag spike when pressing "Home" button while in main menu - it does really annoy me, as I haven't seen this lag before, though I'm not sure if it is "unroot-related problem". Should there be any performace change since I've unrooted it?
But main question is about updates. Finally, there is a Marshmallow OS update - how do I upgrade?
I haven't got any updates since the first day of usage - I believe it is because of the root feature I had preinstalled. But now it is not rooted, and still I am not getting any updates.
I would love to "Check for updates" if there was such a feature - but in settings menu "Settings" -> "About" there is no "Check updates" function. How do I force check for updates? Will I get them automatically if I wait long enough? Or I won't since my device was sometime ago rooted in the first place?
I am sorry if the question was already mentioned here and for my bad englando.

G935T - Software Update Menu

My G935T is on PK1 version, rooted previously but currently unrooted, device status is Official. However the software update menu has changed. I remember seeing Download updates manually & Scheduled software update, previously. But now, I see only one option "Software Update" and it does nothing when I clicked on it. Any ideas on what is wrong?
