Why on Play display dont periodically light up (in case of some unread notifications)?
I have 2014X, and there every few seconds display light up...
Is there some option for this?

my phone just lights up the screen when it's busy. it uses the gyroscope. moto x 2014 used infrared sensors.

I know that, but Play display don't breathe when is left at flat surface and have some unread notifications, so to check them I have to pick phone and check. Is this normal on Play?

Yes it is, and that's probably due to using an LCD on the Play vs AMOLED on the Moto X 2014.
That must be either a bug or a really ****ty implementation of Motorola. The Moto X Style with LCD screen does breathe.

My new Moto x Pure seems to have vertical streaks that can be seen across the screen on white backgrounds more noticeable when the brightness is up. i couldnt get a good picture of it .
Definitely not normal doa return

Question 1)
Can I use both? Will ambient display show messages... Then when screen closes, the led kicks in?
Or would screen light up and led at same time
Question 2)
I use AC display... Which is sort of ambient display(never owned a moto or nexus 6).
Is ambient display basically the same thing? Meaning I won't need that

I have the Nexus 6 and when I get a message the ambient kicks in as well as the LED. . I am rooted to get light flow to work, but I imagine the 6P will be the same.
I had the original Moto X, and the ambient display worked just fine for me. It's a lot better than an LED, because it's bigger (therefore lighter) and you can see exactly what it is. And, as a bonus, you can check the time by simply picking the phone up (it doesn't turn on randomly).

1. Yes, you will be able to use both without any issues. Unlike the Nexus 6 one, this is a fully working RBG Light.
2. It is pretty much the same thing, yes. But I think AC Display is designed to look more like the Moto X Active Display thing. They do the same thing though.
I'm guessing the turbo 2 uses a pentile display. When scrolling with white text on a black background, the text becomes green. Anyone else experienced this?

This is basically a common problem on all OLED displays I've used. This includes all Galaxy devices.

The 2013 moto x didn't have this problem, it's one of the few non pentile displays. I guess I got spoiled by it.

Hi everybody. Yesterday I bought a used Moto X Force and have some concerns about it. (Yes, noticed them before paying, but the price was appealing )
First of all, I think there is a missing top screen layer (or some kind of a factory screen protector) because there is a hole where the front flash is sitting. Can you confirm that it must be absolutely flat screen there? And if yes, can you recommend some nice thin screen protector (I am in Europe and will not have the patience to wait for it to come from China...)
The second concern for now is the screen colours. I have Moto X Play and the screen is much more bright than that on Moto X Force. When in Settings menu, the basic colour on Play is much more bright. Same is when I look same picture on the two devices. That is very, very strange for me. Plus, there is no COLOR MODE menu in Display Settings, that I have on X Play. Any thoughts about this difference in display performance?
Third - WiFi make some battery drain - it is on top of the list with 10% for the night. On X Play it even is not on the list (same settings).
Well that is what I have found for now. Will be glad to see your opinions here.
I confirm you that the screen should completely flat. If the last layer of the screen is missing you can buy a new one directly from Motorola.fr, .uk or .de (about 30€)
Screens colors of the moto x are not correctly calibrated, it's a known issue when compared to the moto x play/style
Wi-Fi drain is a also known bug of Android 6, battery settings shows it drains a lot but in reality it's the contrary, you can install app like BetterBatteryStats to confirm it
Send it back. You are missing a screen layer!!

I'm coming from a '13 Moto X. Moto Display is one of my favorite features. With the play, it looks terrible when the clock comes on, and the whole background is grey.
Is there any way to only show when there is a notification?
Does it fade to black when you pick it up for anyone else? Like the loss of gyroscope means it doesn't know I picked it up to look, and if I'm too slow I can't get it to come back on without using the power button.
This and a couple other things that bother me make me want to go back to my '13.

1. Your Moto X used AMOLED screen. X Play, X Pure use IPS LCD. With LCD whole screen lights up, AMOLED only lights up pixels accordingly. The clock is the main interface for Moto Display, I would say it is not possible to adjust it to show only when getting notifications. You'll probably could turn off Moto Display and use an app called AcDisplay instead.
2. On Lollipop the timeout is too short and I always missed to touch it and ended up using the power button. With MM the timeout has been increased probably an extra second, it is better now.

Thanks. I know its IPS and I personally think it looks terrible with Active display.
I still think the time out is to short, and it doesn't seem to ever know that its actually in my hand. I'm going back to my 2013 model.
