I am getting terrible battery life, and it happens because the proximity sensor doesn't work right. I don't know how to fix it, I tried to flash another phone.apk or something to disable it, and it just crashes whenever I try to make a call.
The same thing happened on Evo deck as well as Cyclonic.
Another problem is that whenever I reboot, the battery stats are wrong. I will reboot at 57% and it will be 43% when it starts up again. I am almost sure it is a hardware problem, unless this happens to other people.
For the battery part try recalibrating your battery then run it till it dies then charge till 100% and you should see better battery life

Try flashing the ruu and see if you get the same result. Since you are already rooted, rooting again should be simple.

Rebooting always causes battery drain because of the boot animations. I have a new update on rom manager with sysctl mods in it that lower the battery temp a lot, puts your phone in laptop mode, and a few other things that seem to help battery. But I try not to reboot very much because of how much it drains. I made the rom on rom manager because of battery drain issues in particular and I was getting pretty sick of it as well.

I'm having the SAME problem but I was getting excellent battery life until I started using SS9 App2SD. Does having my apps installed on my SD card because it suuuuucks now. Even before on SS9. Whyyyyyy????
Buy this:

If you messed up your charging port this will charge your battery directly through AC without needing the phones micro USB port.
As for the "proximity sensor" you might want to take it in to a Sprint store and have it looked at. I would run RUU 2.2 before you do that though.

Try flashing Dodge Kernel 1.6.
Why does using Apps2SD use more battery life? Because your phone uses more CPU to access the SD card while starting an application I would guess. You should ask strapped365 via PM or ask in the SS9 thread.

Constantly switching from 3g to 1x also kills battery life majorly. If you are getting bad 3G service turn off 3G and switch to 4G. This will actually improve battery life. Your phone only needs 1x to receive voice calls and send SMS messages.
credit to newkidd on this too.
Apps2sd incorporated into S.S. "fools" the system to think that the ext partition is part of the system... Majority of the wear is on the sd card, I'm guessing the cpu might be working a little more, but nothing substantial enough to drain your battery.

Idk. I've tried recalibrating it, letting it run down, charging it up. Even on AOSP roms it's worse now. Could it just be that at this point it's just my battery?

Having the A2SD on a Rom does not use a significant enough amount of battery life to affect your battery life the way you stated. As you stated " Even before on SS9 " . My guess is you may have a rogue app. You can try booting into recovery and wiping battery stats. Also as VICODAN mentioned, if your on the stock kernel. You can try the dodge kernel, it's quite good.
EDIT : Just saw you post above. If it does the same thing regardless of what Rom your on. Then your battery is probably done.

IDK ever since I rooted this phone my battery life has not been very good. I've followed the cm wiki on troubleshooting battery drain (wipe battery stats, drain battery all the way let charge back up ect), and nothing seems to really help much. I wouldn't say it's the charging port as much as it might be the type of charger. My usb cord for my pc sucks for charging until I went out and bought a cheapo wall charger that seems to do a much better job. So yeah that charger you mentioned would probably help a lot. My battery isn't warped or anything, you should of seen my G1 battery lol.
As far as network I use wifi when I'm at home which drains the crap out of my battery more than 3G. When I'm out away from home my battery is pretty decent though. But differnet roms have differnt wifi settings so that's probably another one of the issues.

I didn't know wifi drains the battery faster??? I always thought it was saving me battery haha wow i was wrong but even with wifi on all the time i still get over a day of battery life. Now i'm gonna have wifi off and see the results i get
I forgot to mention that I used Spare Parts Plus or its cousin Blade Runner or something to remove boot animations, so I don't think its boot animations. It never did that on my Evo or my Droid.
I have recalibrated the battery, and even used different batteries. The battery life is still atrocious, worst than my Evo ever was.
Sparksco, do you have your rom on here? I would very much like to try it. And was the battery life good before you rooted it?
Does anyone have the high android system usage problem? I don't think I am the only one who has it, but if I am, lemme find my battery stats...

It was so long ago honestly I can't make a fair comparison to then and now. But since then I've done a lot of things. Flashed my splash screen, recoveries, radio updates, roms. Which radio are you on? I've heard radio's can effect battery life quite a bit but not sure if it applies to the shift very much. Now that you mention the Evo I'm thinking about trying to port salvagemod gingerbread just for fun to see how it pans out lol.

The only thing that won't come through is picture mail, but you'll get a message telling you to download it. I think you'll have to turn 3G back on to download it.
Although, doesn't wifi take precedence over 3G in the first place? So essentially wifi shuts off 3G except when a picture mail comes through?

If you've already done a reset, I think you should return yours. There should be no lag, Antutu should be around 48000, and screen on time at least 4 hours.
I'm facing some issue with my AZP 2 4GB Version.
1. Sim 1 4G Sim network goes in every mins. If i use 3G or 2G sim in Sim 1 slot it works fine. with 4G sim it gives an error as well Unfortunately, the process com.phone has stopped. Did factor reset. I was on firmware 2.15 when i did that. Yesterday i has=d upgraded to V2.17. need to test again with 4G sim. Is it the same or still had an isuse. If yes than i'll return the phone with cash back.
2. Circle Flip cover does not work. I have purchased it in Rs. 499 and after applying the cover, nothing happens.
3. 2 to 3 times a day i have an error Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped
What should i do??

Whats the solution to battery life and overheating during regular use (not on the charger)?
You realize your issues with heat build during charging are because of the fast-charge technology, right? Totally normal, as a ton of power is flowing into the phone. You can always use a slow charger to charge the phone while in use. You shouldn't have any heat build up during use when not also charging. I know I don't. The hottest the phone gets is slightly warm.

For overheating, use a different adapter if you have the 1.8 GHz version. Battery life, just get a third party battery saver and turn on airplane mode. That will save you a ton of battery. I did it for mine and the phone last from 6 A.M to 10 P.M.

Very dependent on ambient temperatures as well.
Anandtech has confirmed that the panel in the ZF2 is inefficient compared to competitors, so not much can be done about that aspect. Their analysis of the phone is in depth, as are their other reviews.
I would like to return mine because the battery is performing right under the Optimus G I owned. With 3000mAh I was looking forward to battery comparable to the G2. If the next OTA improves battery, then I'll keep the Asus.
"I'd Totally Hug You, If That Was Something I Did"
Dang, so the bad battery is a hardware related (screen tech) issue based on that review.

Yeah. The people from Anandtech are pretty good at evaluating devices. Also this would explain why the battery drains rapidly during use & barely when inactive. Battery life is very important to me, so a phone with a removable battery might be best.

One thing to keep in mind, is that though the display uses a lot of power, the Intel chip itself seems very efficient. Not only does it sleep well, but as is shown in the PCMark testing on the Anand website, it uses its power very efficiently. Thus, though the phone's maximum display on time is much lower than the other phones, its practical usage time is fairly similar. I get around 5 hours screen on time with 1-2 days of sleep time.

For me getting even 4hrs is requiring me to disable apps, use greenify to kill background apps, and use min brightness. I tried factory resets, so doing those over and over isn't improving my battery. Honestly I just want a new phone with the battery life of my G2, since development is slowing down for it.

Besides battery I don't have any performance complaints. This is the main aspect I complain about. I'm still impressed that mine rarely warms up, signal is better than my G2, the battery cover has the brushed look like my Asus laptop, and so on.

So I would like this tip to be there for as many people as possible and not let it get lost in some thread. Already got some great feedback from other who tried this too.
I do not have any feedback yet from snapdragon users, so results could be different there
In settings ==> apps==> show system apps.
Disable and then enable the following:
- Google Services Framework
- Google play store
- Google Play services (here, only wipe all data en cache).
After you enabled it, these services will update themselves again in a few minutes. But with one big change: a great standby battery usage!
UPDATE!
So it seems I had forgotten some other settings that I changed also, until I read someone else his post. So for here some additional steps:
- privacy -> location -> increase precision: set wifi en bluetooth off
- privacy -> location> location history: remove location history, and turn all other devices other then THIS DEVICE, to off.
After doing all steps, do a restart. Just to be sure .
Let me know if it helped you too
Just did it, will report back with results

What i did last night was disable it that 3 and go to bed and charge the phone and this morning i turn in the 4G to go to work , and what i notice was the battery last i bit more , i notice the difference.
But as we know we can live without google services.
Now i see google services is one of the problem.
The standby only at night i can tell something.
Already losing only 2% battery overnight on wifi lol
How do I wipe the cache here? Also no option to disable or even stop here.
Nevermind I figured it out.
Unfortunately, this didn't help me. I'm still losing ~2% / hour, even overnight on WiFi.

I have had Google backup disabled prior. Battery life still miserable. Did this trick seeing how it works.
This is where I am at now. I don't think this solution had any impact on my battery life. I was able to achieve these kinds of stats day one of the upgrade on tmobile with APG1 FIRMWARE. prior to that update less than 4 hours SOT. Where I'm at now isn't terrible, but it certainly could be better

I'm assuming you're referencing the WiFi glitch you noted on your device? In that case I generally don't use wifi much. Even when I'm at home I just never think to turn it on. I'm a nurse, so at work I'm moving around and jumping from modem to modem, plus all lines are monitored and I just feel uncomfortable with that. There is one unsecured connection which happens to be where my office is located, but like I said I bounce around at work a lot.
While I never thought I would see the day that I was able to achieve 6 hours SOT, somehow I did. I'm attributing it mostly to the most recent Tmobile update although I did follow the instructions in this video, but based upon previous usage drain prior to applying this method, it seems to be on par.
Granted I do have location services turned off as well as Google back up, which has not been of any help historically. So with that being said I am finally pleased with the battery life I managed to achieved. However I will continue to monitor it as battery drain on this phone just seems so day to day.
nevermind. Happy it helped

I came from a Galaxy S4 so to me there were no issues. Now I have been off charger and off wifi for 4 hours and only lost 6 percent battery as opposed to roughly 15 percent this time yesterday.

Mine isnt showing at all now, since mentioned my fix I allowed the auto band frequency and it hasnt came back up...going to try undoing each one for a few days see if I can pinpoint just one cause
Two theories, well 3.
One, it's a false flag. With light use, or streaming, especially without charging for awhile, which you wouldn't need to do with the light use, wifi is really using that much but it's not bad considering the uptime. How's your actual battery life?
This is the most likely scenario.
Two, did you auto restore apps during setup? An app from your Nexus 6 could be been installed with Nexus 6 settings.
Three, the wifi is definitely being reported differently.
Battery stats on this phone kinda sucks. Or it coulld be a bug which goes back to theory one: how's your actual battery life?

For me personally once I was able to get wifi off battery usage my battery life improved vastly. Average usage during the work day...originally I would be down to around 60% when I got off maybe a little less, now Im staying around 75%. Was having to chare around 7 in the evening, now just plug in it around 10 until it charges unplug it drop to 95-96 when i wake up...it was dropping about 20% overnight before
It's wifi scanning in locations that gets left on and drains the battery. I have to go in every once in a while and disable it then my phone is all good

so its farewell for android...!! apple gives updates regularly not like android oems, who just launch phones and let users cry, and yeah better performance and ram management..!! but i will still miss flashing
manually toggle data on/off not a big deal.

We are talking about the radioactive mobile bug which is well documented and permanent. How switching data would help?

On a 24h hour use, what ne number of minutes with "mobile radio active" on?
For me on the last charge it was nearly 2 hours. It's too much.
Some custom kernel "contain" the drain but problem is still here.

No just trying on full days use (when your battery is empty) and whan you have moved (taking subway, connect to a wifi, then going back to 4G, changing 4G point....). Maybe after an airplane mode night...

It's not a "bug" as you think. I just point that you could look at the batteyr stats after ONE full days without charging the phone. Doing it on multiple days, and see if the value of this "mobile raduio active" is constly low, or if sometimes it really increase on your config with your use.
It can change if you use G+, facebook, facebook messenger, Whatsapp......
