So finally the oneplus x journey for me is over, with the pretty good bugs (infamously the mightty cell radio active bug by google),
I will be finally moving to Iphone 7, cheers guys, it was a great journey with all the devs, rooting flashing and all
TC
But why the iPhone? You could get something like the OnePlus 5
Too big screen maybe?
And radioactive bug is an optimisation problem still persisting on Nougat. Maybe on OP5 too...
op5 looks like opx
fed up up of android, they are not able to fix that radio active data bug, since lollipop, it can make any beast phone retard, oneplus 5 is a copy i really dont prefer oneplus after the way they ditched oneplus x , oneplus 2 and now oneplus 3t in just 6 months of its launch..!!
so its farewell for android...!! apple gives updates regularly not like android oems, who just launch phones and let users cry, and yeah better performance and ram management..!! but i will still miss flashing

On a 24h hour use, what ne number of minutes with "mobile radio active" on?
For me on the last charge it was nearly 2 hours. It's too much.
Some custom kernel "contain" the drain but problem is still here.

It's not a "bug" as you think. I just point that you could look at the batteyr stats after ONE full days without charging the phone. Doing it on multiple days, and see if the value of this "mobile raduio active" is constly low, or if sometimes it really increase on your config with your use.
It can change if you use G+, facebook, facebook messenger, Whatsapp......

I have the newest leak v4 installed and only have radio 2.41.04.02.02. The wifes phone got the ota last night, every version number is the same except the radio, she has a newer! And it isn't listed on the radio forum. It's 2.42.00.04.12. Mines rooted and hers is not. Anyone have this radio extracted for us to install? Thanks!
I tried both radio, root and ota. Not much of difference... signal strength remained the same but throughput speed seem to improved though, not by miles... I'll say about 1-2 seconds faster while loading a webpage in browser.

Obviously some fixes or they wouldn't make and release newer. Too bad we couldn't get release notes! Lol. Anyone know how to extract?
check out the link below, he just post a link for this newer radio... found it by using forum search and you should try that next time.

I've been running the 4.12 radio for over a week and have had no problems.
Performance increase over prior versions is difficult to ascertain, but as was stated the newer version fixes something or they wouldn't have released it.

if you go to about phone in your settings and click on battery you will see battery use (click on that)...if you see cell standby and it says 50% (or more in my case being in a basement of my building at work) then you have that bug...
people have a "fix" for it by plugging in your phone and going to airplane mode. hit the end button and have your phone go to sleep for 1 minute. Unplug the phone and restart.... when you let it sit again for a littel while and go back to the battery thing it shouldnt say 50% anymore.
i change Roms so much lately i forget to do the trick... not sure if it is hurting battery or not.

So I would like this tip to be there for as many people as possible and not let it get lost in some thread. Already got some great feedback from other who tried this too.
I do not have any feedback yet from snapdragon users, so results could be different there
In settings ==> apps==> show system apps.
Disable and then enable the following:
- Google Services Framework
- Google play store
- Google Play services (here, only wipe all data en cache).
After you enabled it, these services will update themselves again in a few minutes. But with one big change: a great standby battery usage!
UPDATE!
So it seems I had forgotten some other settings that I changed also, until I read someone else his post. So for here some additional steps:
- privacy -> location -> increase precision: set wifi en bluetooth off
- privacy -> location> location history: remove location history, and turn all other devices other then THIS DEVICE, to off.
After doing all steps, do a restart. Just to be sure .
Let me know if it helped you too
Just did it, will report back with results
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
What i did last night was disable it that 3 and go to bed and charge the phone and this morning i turn in the 4G to go to work , and what i notice was the battery last i bit more , i notice the difference.
But as we know we can live without google services.
Now i see google services is one of the problem.
The standby only at night i can tell something.
Already losing only 2% battery overnight on wifi lol
How do I wipe the cache here? Also no option to disable or even stop here.
Nevermind I figured it out.
Unfortunately, this didn't help me. I'm still losing ~2% / hour, even overnight on WiFi.

Did you enable Google backup? Just trying to find out why it works. It's the only thing I have disabled while using this trick.
I have had Google backup disabled prior. Battery life still miserable. Did this trick seeing how it works.
This is where I am at now. I don't think this solution had any impact on my battery life. I was able to achieve these kinds of stats day one of the upgrade on tmobile with APG1 FIRMWARE. prior to that update less than 4 hours SOT. Where I'm at now isn't terrible, but it certainly could be better

You're saying my stats are great? I have GPS toggled off and Google back up disabled. I think battery life largely depends on what you're doing. Seems like you get much more life out of watching YouTube versus texting, or something similar. Also, no wifi usage today.

I'm assuming you're referencing the WiFi glitch you noted on your device? In that case I generally don't use wifi much. Even when I'm at home I just never think to turn it on. I'm a nurse, so at work I'm moving around and jumping from modem to modem, plus all lines are monitored and I just feel uncomfortable with that. There is one unsecured connection which happens to be where my office is located, but like I said I bounce around at work a lot.
While I never thought I would see the day that I was able to achieve 6 hours SOT, somehow I did. I'm attributing it mostly to the most recent Tmobile update although I did follow the instructions in this video, but based upon previous usage drain prior to applying this method, it seems to be on par.
Granted I do have location services turned off as well as Google back up, which has not been of any help historically. So with that being said I am finally pleased with the battery life I managed to achieved. However I will continue to monitor it as battery drain on this phone just seems so day to day.
nevermind. Happy it helped

Me personally I turned off scanning...went to device only gps and 2.4 ghz only...wifi is no longer in my battery...and battery life is vastly improved.
May want to see if any of your apps have permission to alter wifi state...not sure if any of the social media allows this as I do not use them.
I came from a Galaxy S4 so to me there were no issues. Now I have been off charger and off wifi for 4 hours and only lost 6 percent battery as opposed to roughly 15 percent this time yesterday.

Two theories, well 3.
One, it's a false flag. With light use, or streaming, especially without charging for awhile, which you wouldn't need to do with the light use, wifi is really using that much but it's not bad considering the uptime. How's your actual battery life?
This is the most likely scenario.
Two, did you auto restore apps during setup? An app from your Nexus 6 could be been installed with Nexus 6 settings.
Three, the wifi is definitely being reported differently.
Battery stats on this phone kinda sucks. Or it coulld be a bug which goes back to theory one: how's your actual battery life?

For me personally once I was able to get wifi off battery usage my battery life improved vastly. Average usage during the work day...originally I would be down to around 60% when I got off maybe a little less, now Im staying around 75%. Was having to chare around 7 in the evening, now just plug in it around 10 until it charges unplug it drop to 95-96 when i wake up...it was dropping about 20% overnight before
It's wifi scanning in locations that gets left on and drains the battery. I have to go in every once in a while and disable it then my phone is all good

Hey Everyone,
Can someone please tell me what's draining my battery? I used 32% of battery and didnt even get 2 hours of SOT. I do see that my connection is bad.. (at work right now on the 11th FL). I did turn on airplane mode but it seems like the mobile radio wont turn off? Anyone else facing the same issues?
Currently on stock OOS 4.5.14 Kernel- Simplegx Kernel
I don't know. I'm on stock 4.5.14 and stock kernel. I am getting about 9-12 hours of SOT and .3-.6% idle drain for a combined drain average of about 2.2-4.5% an hour depending on medium to heavy use. I don't do anything to crazy with my setup. I just turn off my google account sync unless i add a contact or something then i manually sync them, turn off background data for each app that has no need for background data usage. Work email is on push and personal email is set to fetch every 3 hours.
Seems you're not alone, my 4G+ isnt' great, never seems to connect in the same places my old phone did, and even when it does its nowhere near as fast.
Data is sub-par compared to other devices, it's that simple i've been through every single setting, nothing can change it.
I don't know ow either. I have my OnePlus 5 since a few weeks ago and so far its battery is showing being the best I've ever used till now (I upgraded from a G4+).
I usually get 7-8 hours of SoT with medium usage:
- WhatsApp
- Phoenix (Facebook/Messenger)
- YouTube
- Some gaming (Free Fire Battlegrounds)
- WiFi + 4G+ (switching between them depending on where I am).
I leave home early on morning with full charge and get back with about 30% left.
About the 4G+, it's showing really good here, nothing to complain about it.

**** i realized i dont have my previous cycle. i'll upload gsam and my reg battery stats tommorow. Sorry for the hassle. Im currently on oos with lighting kernel. I'm tryna see the best kernel for battery.
10hrs of standby take ~ 5%. I can go for 3-4 days without charging. Recharging is super fast and I'm only running Greenify with few extended features.
Not RR or LOS gave me this kind of performance...
P.s. from the moment I bought the phone, I installed magisk module Magic Charging Switch, it stops power intake at 90% until it's I think 80%. Uses some scientifically proven methods to extend battery life
I have a guy in one of our forums who managed this.
5% battery draining in 10 hours standby time is too high. On custom ROMs such as AEX, RR, AOSIP, it's only 1% or hardly 2% in 10-12 hours of standby time.
I an 100% stock, no root, no greenify, no magisk etc.
I easily get 4 days standby if the phone only has little OST, this of course reduces the more I use it but easily 2 days with lots of use.
Right now its showing 75%, low usage:
Last full charge 22hrs 39min
