Note 4 Half Screen Issue - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi. i got my Note about weeks ago. i got it imported so cant get any warranty claim what so ever.
last night i was on tomshardware website and looked at exactly this page of gaming monitors. i tried to load the desktop site but it didnt.
i scrolled down to the bottom as everyone does. and i saw this issue for like 2 seconds, and then it said that browser has stopped. then it was ok.
now, today i woke up in morning , and out of no where, after like stopping my alarm, my Note 4's half screen started flickering and the image got stuck there.
then it stopped on its own.
now i went to Samsung test menu with *#0*# and checked that the screen test is ok, spen test is ok and everything is ok.
i started a game, and it game me that flickering again. what happens is like this . i dont have a camera to capture it, so thats why adding these images.
IT HAPPENS JUST LIKE THIS BUT ON MY DEVICE ITS THE LEFT SIDE, EXACTLY HALF OF LEFT SIDE OF DEVICE
i took the screen shot and its not the software. it shows all fine.
it stops when i rotate the screen and then happens again on its own, especially in games.
i know its ****ed already, but its sunday and markets here are closed, so as a last option im asking you guys is there any solution?
i have stock, unrooted lollipop.

Motion Sensing not working on Fascinate. Hardware or software related?

So i have had my phone for the past 9 days and love it, never really played too many games or anything but a couple of days i noticed that when I watched a movie, exiting would keep the home screen horizontal and it wouldn't flip back to vertical.
didn't really think anything of it until last night when it did it again and then I installed a game also that uses the movement of the phone, however the dude would just fly straight and wouldn't go up, down, or in any direction. then ran into a bridge and kept bumping into it.
So i downloaded a leveler program and even that stays centered. can't find anything to try to calibrate it.
I have the orientation check marked under display settings and even unchecked it and checked it again trying both but no go.
called tech support but they couldn't figure it out.
I have my phone rooted, and i did freeze a few basic programs but nothing related to the display.
is this most likely hardware related? the motion sensing isn't working at all for the phone, movements don't do anything.
probably going to go exchange it tomorrow at verizon. just wondering if something software related might have messed it up.

[Q] My screen freezes, whats the problem with my phone?

Hi all.
I'm having these days a really weird issue with my G2. It was working fine while I was using 20G update, but after updating to 20H I have an odd issue with my screen. I updated via OTA (first time I do in that way) and it was successful, no errors or problems there. After one or two days I started to have problems with my screen, it was freezing sometimes while I was using an app. In the beginning happened like one per day or two for a few seconds, but now I'm getting annoyed since is like that almost every time I need to use an app.
The problem is that I don't think is a hardware problem like many others had, seems that is a software issue, so that's why I first decided to do a factory reset. Nothing changed, so after that I decided to flash a downloaded .kdz from different zones (20D, 20G, 20H from North of Europe and 20G, 20G from Open Europe). I still have the issue.
I recorded a video about my problem that you can watch here: youtu.be/5rYQiMQtpDg
As you can see, while the app freezes I still can use the sliding bar and bottom side buttons (back, home, menu) and I can open others apps that in a few seconds will freeze too. Sometimes when freeze appears there is a second issue with the screen or touch. Look in the video when I'm drawing lines, you'll see that there is a column in the left side that isn't working (sometimes seems that when I'm drawing in the rest of the screens, some lines or dots appear next to the frame). By the way, my screen don't have any dead zones. When my left column isn't working I still can slide down the upper slider.
Another thing that I saw is not working like should do is the brightness. Every time I switch on my phone is like when I bought it, with 100% brightness that I never use. Seems that my brightness configuration isn't saving or something.
I'm afraid of sending it to repair since is something that is only happening sometimes. I'm sure that they'll install everything and send me back the phone again, saying that they don't see any problem.
Any idea of what's the problem with my G2 or what can I do?
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my text. English is not my main language

Random issues on separate days (SM-935FD)

Hi all,
I have a black S7 Edge International version (Dual Sim version). The phone as a whole has been working great. I have been having certain issues though, they don't happen very often. So I'm not sure if its related to certain apps I have or if it's an issue with the phone.
Each issue happened on a separate day.
First problem: The phone froze when I was editing a photo on Adobe Lightroom. This was the first time I was using the app, so I launched after installing it. I tweaked a photo and noticed the phone lagging. They it froze, and I couldn't do anything on the screen. Nothing worked until I did a hard reset. Afterwards, the problem didn't occur again, although I haven't tried Lightroom since, so maybe I should, to see if the problem is with the app. Does this happen often with lightroom? Or could this be a phone issue?
Second Problem: On another day I had my phone randomly start vibrating, like it was receiving a call. I had just made three calls to my wife, and thought she was calling back. However, there was no call notification, and nothing on the drop down menu. There was also no ringtone. The phone kept vibrating, and wouldn't stop. I pressed the power button and reset, then the problem stopped.
Final problem: Today, I've been using the phone fine. However I was playing angry birds and then pressed the home button, so the game was still on it's memory, and being multitasked. I used the phone again a few times, then I noticed on the bottom that the game launcher circle (was on the bottom of my homescreen), even though the game was not open (still in the multitask window - I assumed) I tried to click the multitask window, and the button lit up, but nothing happened. The multitask window had frozen. Again it required a restart, and now it's working.
Given that I'm having these three issues (none have repeated themselves though), is this just the phone needing an OTA update, early phone bugs, specific 3rd party app issues, or is it a more serious problem?
Should I take the phone to Samsung and ask for a replacement, or should I wait it out?
Would love some advice from people, and would also like to hear if you've had similar problems.
Current firmware I'm on: G935FXXU1APB6
Thanks!
Does anyone have any feedback on this? Thanks!
I have the first problem on my phone.
But I didn't use adobe lightroom
and I've seen many user reported this problem in many different threads. it seen a known issue.
Thanks for that stone... Hopefully it's a bug... Would love to hear if anyone thinks that it requires a replacement... Also, i just found a dead pixel on the top corner of my phone... it's completely black...
Is that grounds for replacing the phone, or is samsung wishy washy about the whole thing?
I have the second problem; sudden vibrations with no reason, no app pending or anything else; I start to think it is associated with the Smart Alarm being activated (in Advanced settings).....
Anyway, really a bug, in fact the Smart Alarm and Smart Stay are known for having made other problems previously, but seems they didn't correct all the bugs.....

If there's a dead pixel I would return it.... There has been alot of people talking about freezing and rebooting... I've experienced too.... Most likely a software issue.... When I got the S6 last year my phone would reboot 3-5 times a day until a software update came out.... The continuous vibration I haven't heard anyone talk about... But if your still in you grace period I would get another phone for the pixels alone... Too nice and new to have to deal with that
Galaxy S7 edge
Hey, I have the same phone with the same firmware. I experienced the freezing right after I opened the camera from the lock-screen, it lasted for a few minutes and then went away. I'm waiting till Sunday to get the OTA and if I don't, I'm just going to update using Odin, considering how the firmware for the SM-G935FD and SM-G935F is the same.
Sounds good, thanks for the advice guys... I went to Samsung, and they said they would replace the phone for the dead pixel... Will take a week to arrive, but I'm just glad it's getting replaced...
I would return it immediately while it is within your return period.

Thanks Yerevan... I wanted to wait to see if I'd get an OTA update... Do you have the changelog for this firmware? What are the updates/improvements. THanks!
i mostly had camera freezes from lock screen and random reboots.... hopefully a software update will fix it

Software Update

Just got hit with a Google software update
I pulled the update package to Inspect it.
It's 251mb and seems to address security issues.
My phone has been very laggy since I installed the update. Keyboard takes several seconds to catch up after I type a sentence. Swiping and scrolling is very jumpy. Now half my screen goes black sometimes, or when I switch apps half of it freezes on the screen and I can only see half of the home screen. Have you heard any other reports, or plans to roll back the update? Don't want to unlock and void warranty if I need to return it.

Same sh#t with mine. And it seems to be a usual problem for 10 Evo/Bolt as you can watch different videos on YouTube describing the problem.
HTC is still silent while some folks tell that they've problem with screen after 3 or even 4 replacements. I love the brand for a long time. But now they are really disappointing.
BTW, try to fast-knock the upper-center part of the touchscreen with 2*usual force. My screen goes black for 5-10 seconds and then works normally again.
camera lagging and playing video lags
Not sure if this is in the right thread but my Bolt was fine for about 6-8 weeks than seemingly out of the blue i noticed my videos lagging and when i move my camera around there is a lag before the new spot is focused in on.
I started with 1.17.651.15 and upgraded to 1.17.651.22. If was sometime after the upgrade that i noticed this. When i factory reset my device it will seem to work fine especially if i leave it alone. But after re-installing apps and setting up the phone this lag comes back. also notice on the keyboard entries and sliding down and acrosss the screens
thanks,
Tim

Samsung Galaxy S8 G950F freezing

Hi.
I know it's early days for the European market to be using one of these phones, but I have had mine since Saturday. I'm finding that it will freeze for about 20 seconds before switching itself off and then restarting. It doesn't matter which app I'm using, at one point I was playing music and it made the most horrendous noise before doing it. Other times I've been playing videos, I've been on the Internet or on Facebook or something and the same thing has happened.
I'd first set this phone up through SmartSwitch, so I figured maybe do a factory reset and reinstall all my apps fresh. This has made no difference. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I have mine since Friday, not one issue. Freezing and restarting sounds like software or hardware issue. If I was you I would factory reset again and run clean without installing any software yet (could be a program you're installing). If it's fixed, then load few programs at the time to try to identify which batch has a bad program in it. At the end, if you don't want to bother or it still doesn't work, just return it.
Hi Pete
I have a feeling it's a screen issue, the last time it happened there was a thick jagged line about 5mm going across the lower half of the screen. Could well be hardware/screen. Obviously I just got it so I'm going to probably going to have to return it. Thanks for the quick reply
Galaxy S8 Freezing here too
I purchased a Galaxy S8+ for myself and an S8 for my daughter. We got the phones on April 20th and since then only the S8 has frozen twice. The clock on the front of the phone stops, the only way to 'wake up' the phone is to press and hold all of the external buttons for ~15 seconds.
What is the Samsung warranty like in the event that this becomes a real problem?
Is this still happening to anyone? I have the T-Mo varient of the S8 and I have returned my first one, now its happening to my second. It just freezes randomly, once or twice a day.
This just happened to me. Was watching youtube before the screen froze and the speaker started playing a buzzing tone. It restarted after a few seconds and during bootup, a blue bar appeared at the bottom of the screen
