Does the downgrade trips Knox?
(Don't know what should we do, L is unusable in terms of battery life, so there is no choice but to go back to KK.
Did you check your Modem version? Uhm..try clearing cache? Use some battery life track app to find the culprit?)

Downgrade does not trip KNOX

[Q] : Stock ROM Flash (without rooting), what about Knox?

Hi to all,
My battery is worst since i've updated to last version of firmware (UDMJ7) with the OTA way.
If I flash it with Odin, does my Knox will be enabled (0x0 -> 0x1)?
Thanks for future answers.

Yes, definitely. You won't be able to downgrade back to previous bootloader. Even if it is booted you won't have any sound and data. But you can still downgrade to MJ6 firmware where there are reported case that it is successfully done.
And regarding on your battery issue, just stating your battery is worst doesn't help. I would suggest you to download BetterBatteryStat or WakeLock Detector. Then it will give you a better statistic on what is draining your battery. In fact I find the MJ7 battery life is better than MJ1

Yes! Of course you can flash stock firmware without tripping anything.
Just don't flash rooting files or custom recovery...

If you want to be able to go back to a lower version of firmware if you want, root your phone with URDLV and then install MJ7 with Mobile ODIN Pro....
MOP doesn't flash bootloaders leaving you the option to try any rom you want.
Just be aware rooting with cf-autoroot, flashing custom recoveries or kernels WILL trip Knox counter.

Knox failed to install in kitkat

Hi folks!
I upgraded to KK via OTA.
I'm using knox a lot (don't laugh)...
When I tapped to open knox, it starts to install. This is where the problem is. Installation always stuck, randomly at any point. The furthest I got was up to 78% and it just stuck there.
I had cleared the cache partition using the N3 recovery as my phone is not rooted. Same issue.
Also I notice that after upgraded to kitkat, copy n paste doesn't work all the time...
Can anyone shed some light on my Knox n copy paste issue?
Thx in advance

Potentially an issue with KNOX on KK, buuuut, I'd hazard a guess you need to do a full wipe as the old JB file system is probably interfering with it, JB + KK have different structures so maybe causing the issue.
Oh dear. .. I always hated full wipe on a stock rom...
Thx for the suggestion though

Hi, I too have exactly the same problem and it happened after I downloaded the latest updates released by Samsung for Note 3 (KK) in India. I am a regular KNOX user. I have dropped a support query to Samsung. Let me see what response I get.
It is surprising to see that there is no way to re-download and re-install the KNOX apk. Googlling only gives you ways to uninstall KNOX
I wish there is a way out without factory reset.

Hi,
Had the same issue and fixed it without the wipe. All I did was to go to app settings and clear the cache of knox installer app. After the reboot knox updated successfuly.

Question is, is there something you need in 4.4.2 and not got it in 4.3? When not I would stay on 4.3.
Some changes in KitKat are the lower RAM, better Battery (a lot better), some security things and a lot of other changes in the background
is there a changelog for 4.4.2 somewhere?

Sorry mate ,
Samsung only gives a changelog number , no a changelog list.......the higher the number the higher the change

Yes but this are all small changes. The permission of writing to SD Card is also a bit different. But I would upgrade
I didn't felt any better battery drain after upgrading to 4.4.2.
Unfortunately, after upgrading to Kitkat I experienced a lot of problems in the camera and screen.
Now I'm using custom rom and developer options to solve these problems.
BTW, my device is I9500.

Yes I rooted it. I installed custom recovery, philz touch recovery, and than it autochecks if you got root when you leave it, so you have to apply or not if you want it or not.
doing this you tripped knox, isnt 'it?

Exatly it tripped the f***** Knox, but I wont use the Knox app so it isn't a problem. My garanty is also over so there is no point not to do it that way. Towelroot don't tripps knox, but the in the newer firmwares towelroot don't work anymore

[Q] I9505 android 5 battery issue

Hello All,
i just updated to official android 5.0 (got the update this weekend) using the OTA.
After update the my s4 is very slow, and on top of that the battery is very poor. 5h with nearly no use i have lost 80% of battery.
What could i do?
I searched to disable fast dormancy (like on 4.4.2) but can't find anything.
I have an official build no root or nothing.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Many people had issues after OTA update. Some could solve them by flashing the same firmware with Odin. Others had to factory-reset their phone.

If i flash with odin i loose warranty?
Factory reset it not my favorite solution for now, i need the installed application and not possible before end of the week to reinstall all of them (i'm travelling)
Other tips?
No, if you flash an official stock firmware with Odin you don't lose warranty. So I would try it first.

I did mine because of xposed and also I think I encountered several crashes on Lollipop.
I tried to give lollipop a chance but after 2 weeks and a couple of hard resets the battery life was still significantly worse than Kit Kat.
Flashed back yesterday and after investing 3 hours setting everything back up I'm really happy with my decision. Battery life is looking good again and I now realise that you loose more than you gain from running lollipop in is present state.
Can you downgrade without root? I know I've tried to downgrade from BOC5 to BOC3 with Odin and didn't work.

I was able to go from BOC2 to AOA1 via Odin full firmware flash on the sm-n910u.
Maybe you could try going back to 4.4.4 and then up to BOC2.

You should be able to. The root has no effect on Odin. Did you set it to download mode first?
It was giving me a headache but it's simple... Go into recovery while still on lollipop and do a factory reset, then a cache wipe, then do your Odin, it works no problem.

i am seriously thinking about downgrading back to kitkat !!
Can i just download the KITKAT from sammobile and flash it via odin (after a factory reset and cleared cashes in recovery?)
another question, i want to root if i got back to kitkat, but on the website of chainfire the root file is made for android 5.0.1, can i root my Kitkat with this autoroot file ???
and do you know if Blurred UI (Xposed) works on kitkat ?
i dont like the UI on kitkat very much
Thanks in advance !
You will need to find the correct version of cf autoroot for the version of android. at least on my F version i did.

i read somewhere that you have to do something with the bootloader to succesfully downgrade back to kitkat, is this true ?
Almost downgraded back to kitkat because of battery life, factory reset saved lollipop. Now it's smooth and battery life is much better

I did two factory resets and my battery life was still up the fugg. Apparently there is a known bug in lollipop that keeps apps awake and polling mobile data even when they aren't using it (or something like that). Even if your battery life is better after the reset I doubt it's back to kit Kat levels.

Yeah !
but i cant root with the autoroot file from chainfires website, it fails.. it says something about recovery...
i dont think this has anything to do with it but, i downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile from Vodafone ( my phone was vodafone but on lollipop roms i downloaded the unbranded version) could this maybe be the problem ?
i fixed it, reactivation lock was still enabled ( i wanted to go to fast )
I downgraded because of Xposed and a better battery life

I too shall be downgrading, I have really tried with Lollipop but its a bag of ****, my phone is laggy and the performance is terrible, I get about 6 hours less battery, this is after doing 3 factory resets now lol.
I know that the OD builds are meant to be better but Samsung have fudged the general LP rollout.
Rolled back yesterday and soooo relieved. My apps aren't being killed off, and I don't have horrendous Antutu.
Lollipop IS pretty though, KitKat is so Boring! Still, I'll wait for a better update, I'm very happy.

Rolled back too, and there is such a big difference in touch response and general performance. Staying on Kitkat until they sort out Lollipop.

yes bug is there. apps can drain battery but eventhough i have 100 apps or something it only happens me with twitter and nba game time app. so battery can be changed by people cuz they use different apps. battery is great for me in lollipop alteast its totaly same with kitkat still 6 hours sot easyly.
general performance is way better in lollipop i compared it alot of times lollipop is much responsive smoother and faster in everywhere for me.
