I remember on my gs2, I would get a FC.. But I need to try a factory reset right now but I just don't have my laptop with me until Friday and that's where my backup is of the apps that were removed.. Can I still factory reset even with those apps gone? And root should stay in tacked right?

You mean the Factory reset in Setting? That is a Factory Data Reset. It's only the data, not your SD and root.

You can still perform a factory reset and root access will still be there.
Hello guys, I have a S4 and I just received the OTA update for android 4.3. However, since this update, I have been getting lag spikes when I use my phone even if I am only using whatsapp. This only occured after I updated my phone. Is there any fix out there and will there be a fix by samsung?

It must have just been a bad flash. Have you tried resetting to factory settings?
Or alternatively, since you are on stock, use KIES (the Samsung software) to restore the firmware.

Just backup with Kies. Also try deleting the cache partition

I had a similar issue after the 4.3 update. I simply let the update finish, pulled the battery with the power on, powered up, rebooted and all was good.
just to tell everyone i did a factory reset and it worked so i guess that is the only fix ya
I am having issues with my phone, like not being able to connect to a computer (any computer).
Having another phone number in the ABOUT PHONE area. I bought the phone used and had it flashed to PagePlus.
If I do a factory reset, will it erase my PagePlus too?

What is PagePlus???
In general, if you factory reset, you will lose all apps you installed

Hello all title says it all. I should also mention that I am not running safestrap. My phone's battery life has been awful since updating to NI2. So I wanted to wipe and start from scratch. Is there an easy way to wipe and still have root?
Anyone? Just want to factory reset NI2 and still have root. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I believe you can factory reset to the original firmware NCG and then update and re root. Not 100% sure though
Factory reset will cause you to lose root, but you can regain root by using the same method you used previously on NI2...That's what I would do.
You could try the SuperSU Pro feature to maintain root as a plan A and if it fails just follow the steps you did previously.
I'm not sure why people are saying you will lose root after a factory reset...
Did mine yesterday and DO have root

From verizon: " Warning Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:
Google account
System and app data
App settings
Downloaded apps
Music, pictures and videos (It's recommended to backup this data)."
Performing a factory reset will not cause you to lose root. It just clears the data as stated above.
Hello everyone
Today I factory reset my galaxy s7 edge and it did not turn up with android 6, instead I found it on android 8.0.0 with September 2019 security patch, I didn't update my phone after the reset, I did the factory reset from the settings menu "general management" factory data reset, I had to reset it cuz my storage was always full after I deleted everything from it, it was still full and when I check storage settings, device memory, I see "files" occupate 15 GB I tried diskusage app and cleaning cache apps and everything else but couldn't find them hidden files so I factory reset my device and it did go well since I ended up on android 8, what is the issue here ? Can someone please explain this to me please ? Thanks in advance

If ota update is enabled, he can download the update and store it and when you reset the device, he installed this update. This is the single most plausible explanation in this case.

Another thing that confuses me is why it chose September 2019 patch update and not another one?
is there anyway to go back to android 6 without flashing the phone? I mean just using the factory reset option and did anyone else get android 8 after factory reset his galaxy s7?

This was probably the most recent version that was stored on your device. Android 6 only custom roms of portals of other devices, because due to the bootloader block, you will not be able to install anything other than the stock version for your device.
