My smg900f goes into bootlop with cm12 alpha http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ent/rom-cyanogenmod-12-0-android-5-0-t2945538
I tried with the latest versione of philz touch, with all of build and tried also another 5.0 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/unified-development/nexus-experience-rom-t2944276
if you don't trust me see this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXZ82O-A36Q.. i waited for an hour and i don't know what i wrong

Just don't use cm12. I tried it a couple days ago and didn't think much of it and thought the ui was incredibly ugly. If I were you I'd just wait until more features have been implemented

Have you tried with other recoveries? Like TWRP or CWM? I've used Philz in the past and had nothing but bad experiences. TWRP hasn't ever let me down.

Well man I'd say your just SOL on this ROM. Your either doing something wrong or it's just not compatible for some reason. Sorry dude but it's time to let it go

I have the same result. However, it is with every Android 5.0 Rom out right now. To me it appears that the recovery (and I have tried them all) is just not fully flashing the rom. Whenever flashing a ROM that is 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 the progress bar goes up as its flashing the rom, then when it finishes the rom is installed. However with the 5.0 Android ROMs or cm12 the progress bar does nothing for about 2 minutes, then when it does start going up it only does part and the finishes really quick and seems like half flash.

I've been using CM12 for basically since the day it came out, I've had no problems yet...It is not as fluid as Touchwiz, but it works for now. I flashed it with Philz. Philz has never let me down until now...

[Q] I keep getting a recovery error for my i9505G. Please help

I've been trying many things to no avail. I am able to get recovery on my i9505G (which I have read is built into the CWM version now for the i9505) and it seems to work fine. I have the 01/08 nightly CM11 on the phone, but whenever I reboot and select "recovery" it gives me this error. Sometimes if I hit the restart the device, it will boot into recovery correctly. I've even started fresh by wiping the entire phone and the multiple partitions (from having started on 4.2) and flashed a fresh 4.4.2 stock (rooted) tar through odin. From there I flashed the recovery, installed CM as I always have, but it is still happening.
What am I doing wrong?
The photo u attached is STOCK RECOVERY. If u want install CUSTOM RECOVERY for install CUSTOM ROMS: HERE
* EDIT: Dont flash custom recovery/Roms/Kernels/Basebands of i9505 for ur i9505G. Its completely different

That is the weird thing, it does have the custom CWM recovery on it, but this happens when I click to reboot into recovery in CM11. I've tried reinstalling CWM numerous times, but I still get this same situation after the first time.

Well here is what I am trying to do. Root isn't a problem, but getting recovery on it is. I've been using the jltflexx builds of CWM and Cyanogen because I read that it was built into it. They both install with no problem and I can get up and running. The problem I run into is getting back into custom recovery and I get that picture error above when I try. I don't know if the custom recovery is getting overwritten by something or what, but it does get installed otherwise I wouldn't be able to get CM11 on it in the first place.

That is what I don't get. How could I have flashed the custom CWM recovery, used it to install CM, but then have stock recovery and can't get back into the custom one all the time? It is really bizarre.

Recovery MAY be the problem. Can you check quickly which version it is? And is it PhilZ Touch, TWRP, or CWM? It should flash with all three but the version decides if it will.

[Q] Need help with Custom ROM

I'm trying to install a custom rom onto my ATT Galaxy S4. I have Safestrap installed and I can boot to the recovery.
I've tried putting BeanStalk on it and it shows the "SafeStrap Enabled" and then shuts off. So then I did some more searching and put ProjectChaos on it. It'll boot to the custom bootlogo that I've chosen and it just stays there. It won't go past that.
I don't exactly know what I'm doing wrong here...
Can anyone give me any insight?

I don't know about ProjectChaos, but thought Beanstalk was CM based. You can't run CM/AOSP roms. Only TW based with TW kernels--
Check out Mapleleaf rom.... it is tw based and runs beautifully with the googy-max kernel....dumb question but you are wiping between rom changes right?

I am assuming ProjectChaos is TW, I got it installed and it's running nicely.
The only problem I've had thus far (I just got it installed a few hours ago) is when it boots up it says "com.android.phone" has stopped when it boots up.
I had to go back into SS and Fix Permissions and rewipe cache, etc. because I was having a reboot issue. But that solved that.
Thanks for the help everyone!!

4.4.2 Update from 4.3 on Galaxy S4 i9505

Pardon the noobishness.
My 4.3 was rooted via towelroot and has Nova launcher,
as I have read for months about recoveries, ROM's, Kernels, bootloaders etc
and am more confused than when I first looked into rooting!
3 days ago I decided to flash my stock ROM so that I could update from 4.3 TO 4.4.2 VIA kies.
Immediately I was underwhelmed!
My phone turned itself off randomly.
The K on the kit katkat screen did not spin.
I lost my root, so I thought I would try and re flash the i9505XXUEMK9. Odin said in yellow "failed".
I waited about 15 minutes and nothing was happening and unplugged, big mistake,
the screen had a yellow picture, oh FUDGE!
So I took it to the Samsung Store in Sydney and I was lucky enough that the store was empty and a tech came up to me(!?)
I didn't have a reciept, but I told him the story and he said he could help.
He connected it to his laptop and asked me what carrier, and 10 minutes later,
phone was working and he had flash the Optus logo onto it
I was so happy!
When the phone booted up there was the towelroot and Titanium apps on the screen, but he didn't even care
I take it home, towelroot doesn't work, so I investigate, and the answer is Chainfire, all good.
The stress of it all!
Then I decide to hell with a custom ROM, I found Xposed with Gravitybox
and spent all arvo trying to make it work and Nudda!
Are my dreams of custom ROMS over??
As I am really wanting a hybrid S5 ROM!
I'm so lost!
I back up with titanium. I don't understand why I would need CWM, TWRP or Philz?
Then, the wiping process, dalviks?
Then I know how to flash with Odin.
I would really appreciate if someone knows a comprehensive tutorial or just to be pointed in the direction of my
knowledge blackholes, I feel that I'm close to being full circle!
I really want the S5, Note 3/4 features but I can't afford the upgrade.
Any advice or comments will be appreciated
Indeed, based on your story you are a big noob (no offence). You tried to flash a 4.3 rom while you were already on 4.4.2. That's impossible.
So what do you want? A custom rom?
- Flash a custom recovery
- Flash the rom with the custom recovery
It's so easy.
And Gravitybox? You should read more. That's not for a TW based rom. It clearly states that in big letters.
Thanks
Thanks for stating the obvious Lenny.
I want a hybrid S5 Rom.
Do I just have to download the ROM then flash it?
I don't understand why I couldn't just re flash 4.3?
Thanks
Yes download and flash.
If you want to know why you couldn't reflash 4.3 read this.

OK.
I have flashed CWM 6.0.4.4.
I don't see the point of that though.
Next is to download a custom ROM and flash that?

What to do next after Cyanogenmod?

Hi I have an unrooted Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 on Cyanogenmod M11, Was on UK VOD stock but moved to Cyanogenmod which is still on 4.4.4 KitKat but I'm a bit worried about future development of CGM. I read about tussles with other companies and big aspirations for M12 but the regular updates I've been enjoying have died out. not even a lollipop stable yet, I'm beginning to lose hope.
I know I shouldn't be so skeptical but I want to explore other roots (no pun intended).
Currently which rom would provide me with a stable lollipop with regular OTA updates for future proofing my phone?
Thanks v much
Alternatively I guess I could go back to stock to get lollipop but haven't done it in a while Im guessing I just flash a stock image via odin
Those tensions don't really affect Cyanogenmod, though I understand your concern. However, the biggest issue you're going to have is that most - if not all - custom ROMs are built using Cyanogenmod as a base. Realistically, the only alternative available I can think of without going to Touchwiz is Danvdh/Kryten's GPE ROM. Going back to Touchwiz is a dead end. Samsung has stated that Android 5.x is the end of the line for the S4, meaning there will be no Android M unless using a custom ROM.
Thanks very much for the excellent advice. I will give Danvdh/Kryten's GPE ROM a go and see how I go. I'm going to post the link to the ROM thread if anyone is following the same route as me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
EDIT: I'm going to try http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2943934 first as its CM 12 lollipop which is what I was looking for really but will try GPE if i dont like that rom
Another question... sorry: i currently have CWM on my phone but the CM rom says to use TWRP with F2FS does cwm have this or do i need to remove CWM and install TWRP?

Don't use that version of CM. It's not what you want because it's not updated anymore.
Use this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696
or the Official nightlies.
I used the older one but realised too late (
got stuck with no gapps and the bloody thing wouldnt boot into recovery cwm or twrp :/ never had that before. so having to do stock flash It's failed twice LOL
EDIT: got it stocked well thats something at least. anyway tomorrow I'll try again and get TWRP on there properly, it was weird because cyanogemod had installed CWM on there before i couldnt get rid of it :/ so i ended up with no recovery manager doh! Thanks for the link Lenny
