First off, welcome to XDA
Secondly, do you mean the 3G Camera or earpiece or the light sensor?
Can you provide image of what you are describing?
Check out page 25 of manual
Thank you Spartan for you hospitality, no this sensor in the left side, it is not camera and light sensor! you can see it only in some angle, stright look will not show you this place. later i will try to highlight in pic.

No sensor, just your imagination, scratch or build defect.
I dont mention that it is sensor, but what is this? please see in the angle to your apparatus and you will see it, maybe something that producers did for future uses? just take a look!

I have check on my girlfriend's TouchHD and there is....... NOTHING!
There is nothing there. Your phone might have some kind of minor manufacturing flaw that makes you think there is something there. I have had my HD for a year and have never heard of anything being there. I looked at it from all angles, and compared it to the right side. My phone shows nothing. Both the left and the right side look the same.
Thank you all for your attempts, but I will tru to put pic of it (if camera will capture it), and maybe than you can explain me this place usebility. Will try to give a pix on monday!!!

I highly doubt there's anything. I've recently opened up my phone to replace the screen and had to mess around in there with the camera/speaker/light sensor and there was nothing else.
Please see attached photoes, can anybody explain this window dedication? Waiting for your replyes.
looks like a air bubble under the screen protector.
Oh common guys, it is not bubble, not scratch, please look on top of htc logo untill calldynamic, this thing placed between them. Mayby mine is special, super-assembled!!!
ok, i was doubtful but i checked anyway and couldnt see anything, then i saw your pics and thought id give it another try and nope, nada, then i figured id pull it to bits and have a gander and inside and still nothing.
Whilst this was slightly entertaining im affraid to say you have probably got a bubble under the first layer of screen.
That is the most likely explination, the chances you have a one off device that no one else has which has some mystical new sensor is so small you'd be better off putting your life savings and the money you made selling your house on the lottery in the hope you'll hit the big one!
Ok, if accept the version that it is bubble under first layer, can you explain why this bubble has so right geometric forms? The guy next to me has an IPhone, and even him thought that it is porximity sensor like his apple has. Strange and Mistyc!!!
I agree that the shape is very geometrical, and I can understand how it would make you think there is something special there. It is unique, but I still don't think it's related to any functions or features the phone has. Look at the letters "htc". You have a slight frame around each letter that is the same shade/color as the "window" you are referring to. My "htc" letters have no such frame around them. The black of the phone comes up directly to where the white letters start.
So, I think it's some kind of strange manufacturing effect.
I'll even attach the service manual for you to look at.
Download service manual here
To be truthfully honest I thought you were seeing things until you posted your 3 pics. Yes, it does look geometrical in shape, but I can assure you that this is not a sensor, button or anything else intended by HTC. As stated by others previously is looks like a flaw in some way, either on the device itself or caused by the skin protector. If you take your device to any retail shop and compare it with another HD this may ease your concerns and I'm sure the staff in the shop would also say as everyone else here has.
Absolutely agree with htc letter, before your post i don't even see this feat, well, i think i should agree with that this window has no any function. Besides i saw off. manual, no-nothing. OK, waiting for another variants of reply.

Well, first of all device was bought not in EU, second, in my country very hard to find even person who owns device, too much expensive for our market, i'm even not talking about shops to compare my apparatus with others. By the way, does anybody know, whether in this forum chats somebody from HTC. i would asked him directly.

Hi guys i got the nexus 7 delivered from staples last week. today I noticed the "screen flex issue" . Pinching together the screen and the back of the tablet causes it in one corner. I also happens if I slightly press on the screen. Just wanted to know if anyone else is facing it.
..
Screen Flex/ Ripples
Sorry for Bumping the Thread . But can some of you guys please check pressing the screen around the cornder and see if you notice any screen flex or ripples??
I am not sure whether i should return it. If is a very common issue ther no point in returning. right?
Please help.
Here's the deal. Way too many people are making an effort to search for "problems" with their tablets. It's almost to the point where it's pandemic. Every little thing is getting scrutinized. If you cleared the forum of complaints and questions about whether someone has a bad tablet this place would be a ghost town.
Use your own judgment. If the screen "issue" bothers you then return it.

My finances mom's does this in the bottom right corner. But its also only noticeable with high brightness on black/dark grey screen. Also if she moves her headphone plug around while in the n7 it makes ripples the exact size and length of the plug.

Some weird S-pen behavior was brought up in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935657&page=3
At first I was not aware (like most of us?) that my pen too suffered from these flaws but I decided to try it and discovered that I too could indeed replicate the "errors" mentioned.
I think it is time we bring some light into this matter so here is how to test if your phones S-pen behaves erratically or not:
- Go to your dialpad
- Enter *#0*#
- Press 'Wacom Test'
- Draw long diagonal lines from upper left to lower right. Also try drawing in the lower right (and left) corners.
- Press and hold the pen-button while pressing and holding pen at screen to take a screen-shot.
- Result is stored in Storage/SDCard0/Pictures/ScreenShots/
My belief is that all phones share this "flaw" and that those saying they don't, simply haven't tested it properly. But this is just my guess and I may be wrong about this.
Anyway, please give it a try and report your results here.
Here is a link to an image showing the problem:

My test:
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/k0nane/SamsungGalaxyNote2/Screenshots_2012-10-20-14-19-32.png
I believe it is a matter of how fast you are doing it.

Oh there is a whole bunch of waves on the right side of your screen-shot. They are very subtle, but they are there.
They will become more visible if you draw longer lines and at slightly more than 45 degree angle.
I went to a mall today and tried their Note II and just as I expected it had the very same "flaw" when I tested it.
So I believe the people claiming not to have this issue, are either not doing the testing the same way as described, or simply not noticing the flaws.
It is not a big deal for most users of course.
But for people doing a lot of drawing it can be quite bothersome, since these "flaws" will affect all kinds of drawing in a subtle way, not just when drawing diagonal lines.

It could just be that your hand is not drawing straight. Remember its plastic on glass, not much friction. Try doing this with a ruler and see if its any different.

I think the problem lies in the wacom pen. I noticed a slight displacement of the tip in relation to the pen. The slower it gets the more dramatic the waves.

The tip may seem a bit wonky, but I am now pretty sure the waves comes from some kind of (magnetic or otherwise?) "interference".
As I went to the mall to try out their S-pen, I noticed a HUGE wave-bulge in the middle of the screen! First I thought that some customers had just poked the screen a bit too hard, but then I flipped the device over and discovered an electronic(magnetic?) anti-theft-gadget attached to the exact opposite side of the device, where that big wave-bulge (looking like an onion) appeared when drawing.
I even took photo-proof of this. I'll try to upload them here if I can find the time.
Here are photos from the mall.
One photo shows interference in the shape of an onion.
The other photo shows the security-device on the back causing the bulgy waves.
Maybe this will help someone with more technical knowledge deduce what causes the "normal" smaller waves on all our phones?
Bulgy waves:
http://wfurl.com/e0a662e
Security-device:
http://wfurl.com/ac3d39e
Hmm, Wacom active digitizer pens are affected by magnets so it's not surprising that large bulge thing happened in the store.
Don't know if it's the same thing with the Note2 screens though. My Note1 has a similar issue in the very top left corner (you can't draw straight lines there).
Supposedly even metal parts near the screen can actually affect the writing ability of the Wacom digitizer but the driver is supposed to compensate for that. Perhaps the driver isn't calibrated as well as it should be.

Afternoon all,
So yeah I'm loving this phone greatly, but I've noticed something horrible for a phone so well made.
If anyway else owns one can you please check if your headset has a tiny gap ( Im really do mean tiny gap) between the front metal casing and
the cream looking plastic band around the phone. So were the headjack and on switch is . . . .
I noticed it last night and if I press the back and front together the gap closes.
After speaking to P4U they said no one else has rang in with such problem and they said they would exchange it wen more arrive in stock.
I ended up going in store were I discover they ave one there but is a pre ordered handset. The guy did open it up and checked both handsets.
They new one did also have a tiny gap but not as bad?
Bit shocked as I havent really used the phone alot as Im still using my S3 till I pay my contract off.
Anyone else got this?7
Cheers
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I have read somewhere 2 weeks ago it is a problem for some demo set. But seems it existing on retail phone now. Also I heard iphone5 has such problem but people think it acceptable.
So maybe other users can give their view.
And you would better to have a clear photo upload others can judge.

Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I got mine today, have looked but not used the phone yet. On both the top and bottom, I can squeeze and a hairline gap will come together, but I don't think this is a problem really. It is negligible and it probably won't have any impact at all, the phone still seems premium and solid in the hand, and it is not like they advertise it as being waterproof or anything in which case this would be an issue.

This gap may be engineered to provide for thermal expansion differences between glass and aluminum
Definitely looks like a defect to me. Lint, dust, water etc could all get in there very easily and cause problems down the line. I'd get it replaced.

If I'm looking at the same thing is u on top of the phone theres a very very small gap between the metal casing and plastic filler.
Can't see I'm bothered about a gap of 0.25mm though. I don't think I'd ever want a replacement.

Sounds like u got a deffective device thats a bummer should have taken it in for warrenty when u noticed it. I just picked a s6 edge up a week ago and i love it, it will easy last me 2 years.
In my country they dont change device into new one only because "i think this is defective device". Apologies if I came across as not helpful.
A screen with that pink tint definitely isn't normal and would seem to be defective. As it's under a year since you bought the phone, would you not think about trying to get it repaired under warranty (it shouldn't really matter that you've rooted/tripped know or whatever).

Yeah well i guess, when galaxy S7 will come i will not buy it, for at last half of year, read xda for all possible issues and decide should i get it or not MAYBE this time they will make proper unit, and yeah, many people have this issue, with pink tint in corner, and wiggly home button, thats pretty "standard" and "normal" for this device it seems.
Just my two thoughts... I wouldn't normally reply... but this topic absolutely doesn't make any sense... you had your device for over a year, you tripped knox etc obviously invalidating warranty ( unless EU) and now you starting a topic abt how disappointed u r with your device... take your grief somewhere else, every device can develop some problems over time, but bcs u were smart enough to trip knox knowing u will loose warranty... well now is on you..

Standard and normal, go on where's your proof? Show me how many other people have reported your issues, you have a faulty handset, live with it, no one cares if you don't buy another Samsung device again.
i believe that most of "consumers", that are buying this phone, and dont even know basic stuff about it, such about chipset, ram, resolution, etc., would never spot those defects, so imagine, how many faulty screens are being used daily, without even noticing this problems i bought used samsung galaxy s3 neo for my girlfriend to use, it have screen burn in that are visible on white backgrounds. did she notice? ofcourse not.
