s6 dissapointment - Galaxy S6 General

So i bought it when it was released with idea to not upgrade for longer bit. What can i say now. I hate looking at screen with pink color tint in the corner and i hate to touch noisy wigly home button. Men that screen is stabbing my eyes.

You obviously have a defective handset!! Don't judge a device when you don't have a fully functioning one. I've had mine 6 months now and I've had no issues.

Sounds like u got a deffective device thats a bummer should have taken it in for warrenty when u noticed it. I just picked a s6 edge up a week ago and i love it, it will easy last me 2 years.

In my country they dont change device into new one only because "i think this is defective device". At beggining screen seemed ok, and did not catch that wiggly home button. but after using this phone for over a year i feel dissapointment. If screen was ok and home button firm, it would be excellent device for me. now my eyes are bleeding when i see that tint on corner of my screen. 600€ for luxury flagship lol. scam

pic is taken with good old xperia z3 compact. never had any troubles with it, never felt like rubish compared to s6...

You've been obviously scammed by buying it. Have you even tried returning it?
I live in Iraq! and I've got refund for 2 devices from Samsung in the past.

maybe you have a fake/counterfeit S6

Nah not fake rooted, knox wrecked by chainfire root, using back to note rom with adam kernel. and tripped knox before noticing problems. i know it shouldnt void warranty, but as far i know gives lots of troubles when having to deal with warranties

oh sorry about kernel, its arter97 v11

If you've been using your S6 for over a year, then I suspect it might be a fake.

oh sorry detective carrot : Released 2015, April. fact about time was not correct because i am not thinking about it constantly, bought just after release. and that makes it fakes? you are fake

also thats offensive to say, that i could not tell difference between fake and original after using it that long. even when purchasing it, from authorised seller.

Exactly because the phone hasn't been out in the market for that long, it was unveiled at march 1st if i'm not mistaken Lol

Why taking it personally and bring offensive when people say it's a fake? We are just moving you in to the right direction to check for yourself if it's a fake or not. There are various of methods to check whetever it's fake or not.

Apologies if I came across as not helpful.
A screen with that pink tint definitely isn't normal and would seem to be defective. As it's under a year since you bought the phone, would you not think about trying to get it repaired under warranty (it shouldn't really matter that you've rooted/tripped know or whatever).

Yeah well i guess, when galaxy S7 will come i will not buy it, for at last half of year, read xda for all possible issues and decide should i get it or not MAYBE this time they will make proper unit, and yeah, many people have this issue, with pink tint in corner, and wiggly home button, thats pretty "standard" and "normal" for this device it seems.

Just my two thoughts... I wouldn't normally reply... but this topic absolutely doesn't make any sense... you had your device for over a year, you tripped knox etc obviously invalidating warranty ( unless EU) and now you starting a topic abt how disappointed u r with your device... take your grief somewhere else, every device can develop some problems over time, but bcs u were smart enough to trip knox knowing u will loose warranty... well now is on you..

Standard and normal, go on where's your proof? Show me how many other people have reported your issues, you have a faulty handset, live with it, no one cares if you don't buy another Samsung device again.

i believe that most of "consumers", that are buying this phone, and dont even know basic stuff about it, such about chipset, ram, resolution, etc., would never spot those defects, so imagine, how many faulty screens are being used daily, without even noticing this problems i bought used samsung galaxy s3 neo for my girlfriend to use, it have screen burn in that are visible on white backgrounds. did she notice? ofcourse not.

Already onto my 2nd Hero. Dead pixels et al

Folks,
After complaining to T-mobile UK about the gap at the top of my G2's screen and a couple of dead pixels (see thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542534) they kindly sent me another within 3 days. Unfortunately though this one has no gap (thanks) there are now 3 noticable dead pixels on the screen (most noticable on startup at t-mobile splash screen).
I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and get a bead on what others are doing about it. Problem is now I have already had a swap out these guys are now saying the policy is to bring the phone into a t-mobile store and have it sent off to be checked which to me is TOTALLY unreasonable as the handset is supposed to be brand new.. ARRRGGGHH!!! Am I just being REALLY over the top? Should I just have to put up with the dead pixels??
i suppose it really does just depend on how bad they are.
I know you would just be on the edge of HTC's policy on pixels...they usually won't touch anything under four unless they're really obvious
Hmm.. Well there is one which is REALLY noticable during the startup and less so during operation. The other two are not quite as obvious during startup and practically invisible during normal ops. Thing I really want to know is whether or not this is common among users of this phone and they are just living with it as it doesn't really affect the use of the phone or is it just me that this is happening with?
People. If any of you are out there especially if you are on a UK t-mobile contract could you please try switching off your phone then switching it on and check you screen while the splash screen loads and see if you notice any dead pixels or see if you can get a black background and check.
I would be reluctant but prepared to put up with this if it were something which was the norm for the majority of new G2 handsets and really dont want to keep swapping my phone only for the dead pixels to be more noticable on the replacement. I guess it's just a peace of mind in numbers thing.
with current LCD technology, the odd dead pixel here and there is fairly normal, but thankfully not as wide spread as it used to be.
I've not seen any on the ones i have seen, and never had a dead pixel on the HTC built devices i have personally owned (going back to 2003/4), although my one and only PSP, which i bought the day it was released, had a crap load of them and was sold very soon afterwards!
I don't think it is particularly widespread to be honest, but there will always be one or two devices in a run that get a dodgy pixel or two.
have you checked the market to see if there is a pixel conditioning app? I'm sure i saw one somewhere. They don't always work, but it cant hurt to try...sometimes they come unstuck after a while.
oh, and i also have a t-mobile one. None on mine.
Dude.. Fortunately the only guy responding to this post is a guy who is being as helpful as you I can;t say I am even aware that pixel conditioning apps exist.. I'll have a look.
be lucky, i'm actually in a good mood at the moment! i guess it's the prescription painkillers i'm on (legitimately i might add...i'm not some sort of addict) overriding my natural hatred and grumpiness of being at work on a weekend....god bless opiates!
i've already pissed someone here off this morning before they kicked in!!
I bought a sim free Hero from Mobilefun. I'm now on my THIRD Hero due to replacing the last 2. The current one and first didn't have any screen issues but the second one did. As soon as i swithced it on, big bright spots. Sent it back straight away of course, as this is unacceptable.
The current one has a minor cosmetic flaw but I'm keeping it this time
Don't worry about being OTT about this. You pay a lot of money, you want something top notch.
Edit: Incidentally, Mobilefun customer service is the best I've experienced. Both handsets were replaced and in the palm of my hand again within 48 hours!

I have a t-mobile contract hero, I can't see any dead pixels on the splash screen.
There is a tiny gap at the top (ie you can see some copper if you hold it at the right angle to a bright light, but It seems to be the same as all around the rest of the screen and so it doesn't really worry me.
Dude.. As far as the gap in the screen goes there SHOULDN'T be one. I had one on the last handset and changed mine. As I explained this one has some dead pixels but the gap is gone. I repeat it should NOT be there. All manner of dust and debri will eventually get stuck in there and on the underside of the display I am sure. If you can change it I certainly would. I think I will be attempting to change mine again (sigh)
definitely should not be a gap.
my first one does not have one, i'm waiting to see what the state of the second one is when i get home this afternoon. i hope it's ok.
I have a dead pixel as well in the top left corner but it's only noticeable on the startup screen so I don't mind. It's actually quite common with LCDs, my girlfriends iPhone has a couple and I've had phones in the past with some. You can google nearly any phone and find people dead pixels..palm pre, iphone 3gs, blackberry etc. You can return it but then you run the risk of getting a phone with other issues or more dead pixels.
my HTC Hero has 3 dead pixels but they dont bother me at all .

You know i thought i had dead pixels at startup under the hero word, but when i loaded a pixel fixer app to check the dead pixes by cycleing different colours on the screen nothing showed im convinced the start up animation is glitched and makes it look like dead pixels!! get the app and check!!
I have a dead pixel too and mailed to the company from where i bought it. I mean, did pay a lot of money for it, 440€, so i expect a device wich has no dead pixels or gaps at all!! .
Let you know how things go.
cheers
I have 3 dead pixels on the startup screen one in the very top right. I don't notice them when the phone is in normal operation. if I get anymore I will be tempted to send. it back.

Sorry, now back to the topic....
second g2 arrived and no gap or dead pixels on that one either.
Right, I've decided to ring T mobile about replacing my Hero due to the gap. Will it be an issue that it's more than 7 days since I recieved my phone?
T-Mobile will usually try and be funny with anyone requesting the return of a handset after 7 days but just stick to your guns.. The item is faulty but not instantly noticable. If you catch the rigt person you will be ok.. Just try calling back a few times if necessary. I think half the time I get stuff from them I because i hassle them so much.
By the way.. Can anyone recommend a good pixel testing/fixing app??

Should I buy this N1?

Someone is selling one for $300. It comes with everything including a case, extra battery, and charger. The only problem? There is a scuff on the top left corner, both on the chrome and on the black part of the LCD.
What do you guys say? Yay or nay?
My main device right now is a BB9700, solely for the UMA. I also have a HD2 and a new Vibrant I'm trying to get rid of (unless the later gets 2.2 ASAP).
I would say
1) make sure the power/lock button works reliably and feels solid
2) while charging, turn on gps navigation, and then start watching some flash videos in the browser in warm weather and make sure the thing doesn't reboot on its own from overheating.
3) when you boot it, does it show an icon of a padlock opened? if so this means the bootloader is unlocked, though not necessarily a bad thing, could spell trouble getting it serviced under warranty.

All electrical items should have at least one year warranty so there should be a few months left
Its a good price for a great phone, especially if youre a developer.
The metal scuff wont be visible if you use a case.
Go with what #2 said. The second point is an extreme stress test. I'm pretty sure my phone in its case would reboot if the room temperature is above 100F.
i would buy it. good price and the scuff shouldnt be a big deal unless u have ocd with scratches like me hehe.
but a case should come to your aid

Warranties don't transfer, do they?
get it. i paid 300 for a used nexus one with a few body scratches and the name "gabriel tran" engraved on the back. a $3 case from ebay and one cyanogenmod6 flash later, i'm a happy camper. don't regret a penny spent on this bad boy.
EDIT: one thing to check for also is screen burn. didn't think about it when i bought it, everything looked peachy. but later i noticed a pretty bad screen burn where the status bar always is at the top of the screen. doesn't bother me since it doesn't really affect anything, but keep your eyes peeled since it's pretty ubiquitous on amoled displays.

probably in their gmail inbox, assuming they didn't delete it.

Home button issue

Hi
I have my s7 edge for 3 weeks now, and I started to notice that when I press the edges of the home button it sometimes won't register a click.
What I do is just press an edge of the button with my fingernail with low amount of pressure to create this issue.
I can't return it because it's been too long, and I'm afraid to use my warrenty because I'm afraid it won't remain water proof...
What would you do?
I have same thing. It's waterproof. Don't worry about it.

No. This is absolutely not normal. My old device had the issue and I made a video of it and exchanged it. My new one doesn't have the issue.

Had this too.... It drove me nuts...its a button shouldn't have to think about pressing it in the middle everytime.... If your still in your grace return period I would exchange it....
I thought I could live with mine but after 2 days I had to return it.... Replacement was perfect...
Edit* Oops noticed you've had it for 3 weeks.... Most companies give you only 14 days...... Guess you may have to just live with it........Is your fingerprint sensor working good?.... The biggest problem I had was I always hold my phone in my left hand then use my thumb to press the home button.... But hitting it on the left part of the button worked 1 out of 5 times.... You'll just have to get used to pressing in the middle

I have the exact same issue with mine, strangely it only became more apparent after about 3 weeks of owning it, meaning I would have to send my device off for repair now; I've decided to live with the issue for now and see how it goes. Personally I don't think they will say anything.... Samsung quality control has always been a little shady.... Actually this was the first Samsung phone I didn't have to take back since the S2.... But after a couple of days I realized people could barley hear me cause my microphone was I supposed to and out.... Got replacement and everything was perfect ? except the damn home button!.... So one more return later and now I have a perfect screen and a buttons work great
....... I'm really picky and OCD about phones when I get them.... I took my S6 back twice also.... Had a home button rattle and also dust under the screen...... If you ever get sick of it... I use button Savior app.... It replaces all your hardware buttons but you can gesture it or put an onscreen trigger to open it..... I like it better than other onscreen buttons because its always hidden until you need it

Mine does the same thing even when I pressed in the middle. I had to click twice since it didn't register the first one. Happened about 5 times but since I received an update from Tmobile, it doesn't happen anymore, or yet... Hopefully it'll stay that way.

When i realized i have an issue it was already 2 days passed the 14 days so...
When i approached a samsung rep he told me that this is how the button works, and that i can send it to the lab but its going to take a few days so i passed..

This is something a certified repair center can easily handle without losing the waterproofing. Certified centers have been trained to fix these models, and they have all the tools to do so, while uncertified repair centers won't necessarily have the training, and they won't have the official tools, so they can't guarantee that the waterproofing is still intact after a repair. If an official Samsung rep told you it could be fixed or whatever, then I'm sure it should be fine. You have warranty, and it should be used for things like this.
If you send it in, you'll probably sit where you are now in a week or so with a fully functioning device, or you can just ignore it and still sit where you sit now in a week with a defect device. I would do it.

I would send it in too..... But sometimes it can take 6 weeks... I had to send an S4 in once and it came back almost 2 months later.... If it's something you can't live with send it back..... But you should have a 1 year warranty if anything actually goes wrong with it...... It is a pretty widespread issue in the Galaxy S7 edge line hopefully they get it fixed in later batches.... But if it were me I would probably deal with it rather than send my brand new phone out... Unless they can guarantee you a return date

Reverse Dead Pixel!!! (Tell me your opinion)

Hello every one how y'all doing? Hope u having a great weekend so far.
I need your opinion/advice on something.
I discovered a reverse dead pixel on my S7 edge! What I mean by reverse is that it's only visible whilst displaying a complete black picture. Like for example a black picture in the gallery or aod. This pixels never turns black it's so to say lit! It's in the dead center of the screen and only visible if I'm in a very dark room and my eyes adjusted to the darkness. Maybe you would ask what's my problem seem's not that bad. But first it's kinda a defect which after spotting it get's on my nerves, and secondly VR I honestly haven't tested it out yet but I can imagine whilst using the Gear VR this dead Pixel would cause a Problem.
Do u think I should do something about it and take it to samsung? My concern is as follow, Knox is tripped and I don't trust those baffoons at those service centers. The last time one of my device had something was a iPhone 4 many years ago and I repaired it myself because like I said I don't trust service center people. But in this case getting a new screen is very expensive and I don't believe those r 100%new and genuine no matter where u buy a replacement screen. I think they r just professionally refurbished.
I've read many people having a bad experience with samsung service centers causing the device to have more issues after a repair which I believe. OK I admit most people make a thread after something went wrong rather them being happy and everything being fine.
I don't like the thought of some idiot opening up my Phone. Probably losing water resistance. Even if they agree repair my S7 edge with Knox tripped in case something going wrong (maybe even on purpose) them just saying Knox is tripped we don't care. This happend to someone else on xda! how crazy is that?
So what would u do? leave it or take it to samsung? and r my concerns valid or just a load of bull bull?
peace out
My S7e had gotten the screen replacement once by service center. They will test the water resistance before sending it back to you. This is in Thailand though.

It's a "stuck" pixel you have. There are dead pixels and there are stuck pixels. A stuck pixel can be fixed sometimes if you are a bit lucky. Just search the Play Store for "stuck pixel" and you should see some apps that can try and fix it for you.
I had a line of dead pixels on my phone. I just phoned them up. UPS were round the next day. They picked the phone up, and dropped it back to me in a week all fixed good as new.
I had a different problem though. Mine were more green I think. It wasn't like it all the time though. Sometimes theyd be normal, then it would be like a green line down my screen. It was worse with light backgrounds.

How bad is the Pink Line issue?

I'm looking into getting a secondary device. I'm seeing pink lined S7 Edges or 1/3 of the price of normal ones. How bad is the line? I can live with it but does it mean the display is going to fail or can I use the phone for months to come?
Why don't you check your local phone repair shop how much does it cost to change the screen? And if its worth it, buy it.

That's basically the plan but I want to know how long it will hold up, might be a month or two before I change the screen. Will it be able to get thru?
The problem is that red/green line may appear on replaced screen as well. It's Samsung's fault, I believe.

It's a bug affecting both hardware and software, so nobody can answer your question with certainty.
Regardless if it expands or not, you should consider two things:
1. You will need to replace the whole screen, so even if it expands or not, you will pay the same repair charge.
2. It will not affect the OS or your media files (so even if the screen turns completely pink, it will not affect your files).

Alright, Hopefully it holds up for 3 months or so. The link don't bother me but the screen is bound to go out later I guess.
I bought an s7 edge with optional pink line recently for cheap and it's now stuck in a draw. The fault is way too distracting for me I'd rather have a cracked screen. Unless it's a proper bargain or you can source a cheap screen I'd say avoid.

I have an iPhone using already, I don't think it will bug me that much. I'm going to get a new screen for it in the future anyway. Just want to get one now, maybe I can get it for cheap as people want to get rid of it for Christmas and stuff.
Cracked Screen and Line basically will lead me to replacing the screen in time. Where can I get a screen thou? I normally use iFixit but I think their out of the stock.
i also wondering if this issue will get worse with time? i can live with 1 or maybe 3 pixel vertical line. Any other problems will happen in the future?
i got a good deal for $150 with 2 pixel line, if this phone can hold for a year, im okay with that.
my choice is this phone or a flat s6 with slight burn in.
I read somewhere in XDA land, someone had the same problem, found some sort of pixel (?) screen checker app and ran it, and per report, said it solved the line issue for them.
I had the pink line issue on my s7 edge, bought new screen (250eur) problem solved.
I haven't found anything specific online through searching, but it there any known information whether this pink line issue affects all s7 edges? Have samsung done anything about it in later models? Was it more a exynos or snapdragon thing etc?
I can't tell from what i have read whether all handsets are ticking time bombs for this problem?

Within 3 weeks of purchasing my Samsung 4, I got the pink line. Despite it being under warranty, Both from Samsung, Best Buy and the purchased one, NO ONE WOULD TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR IT AND FIX IT! However, I used the phone for 4 years with that pink line. It didn't affect the performance at all.
Hope this helps.
