LTE Versions of Sony Tablets do not have Multi-User Mode. That is a long standing issue and called a FEATURE by Sony in several of there Support Forum Threads. That is also why the LTE Version often get their Device updates earlier than the Wifi versions, because they just have to rework the Phone builds a bit. So if you need Multi-User you should not get a Sony LTE Tablet.
(BTW. I am owning a Z3 Tablet Compact LTE and owned both Xperia Z and Z2 Tablet LTE)
That's right, I also fell for this.
Got my LTE Z3 Tablet a few days ago... sucks that it comes without multi-user support, since it's basically a large phone.
But maybe this will change with Lollipop... phones will get multi-user support, so maybe ... just maybe... the Z3 Tablet will, too.
So there is a multi-user mode on the only-wifi model? I've just tried the LTE version.
yes, the wlan only has multi-user mode.
Where to find it in wifi only devices?
Will sony make it possible on the SGP621 with an update. Maybe?
I believe multi-user is in the specifications for Lollipop, so Sony will have to let go of their draconian thoughts soon enough.
The one thing that pisses me off about my LTE version is the inability to have a 'work login' and a 'personal login' for my tab.

If this is to be believed the DVP will not be able to be used as a wifi hotspot. Havent had a need for this so far, but anyone else wanted this feature?

It would have been nice to have. It appears as though composite mode is working again after the mango update (coming from beta). So long as I can at least have wired tethering I am happy. Haven't tested it yet though.
More importantly though, it could also mean we can't access hidden wifi networks. That is just pants on head retarded.
Edit: I can confirm usb tethering is working again.
Yeah, it's the feature I miss most from my Android and Blackberry.

I can see Hidden networks...on my HD7....not my vine ripened Dell Mango Pro....did you see it in any of the betas?
Yes - disappointed that the wifi hotspot functionality isn't possible on the DVP. Would have been a useful feature on occasions.
Re: hidden wifi, the other XDA thread says that the chipset used in the DVP is the Broadcom 4325.
According to the website below, the iPod touch 2nd Generation also used the Broadcom 4325.

iPod touch 2nd Generation seems to have been able to connect to hidden SSID (see below).

So still hopeful...

We're not sure that the dvp is actually equipped with the infamous 4325 chip
people are investigating on it HERE
Hi All,
Im hoping someone can help. I have looked around these forums and been trawling the internet in search on an answer to the following with very little luck.
I have a Karbonn Smart Tab 1 with the following specs.
SIM: 2G, 3G
3G enabled: yes
Screen size: 17.8 cm
Screen quality: Capacitive 5 Point Multi Touch Screen
Processor: 1.2 GHz
OS: Android v4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
Primary camera: 2 MP Front Camera
Expandable Memory up to 32 GB
Full HD Video Playback up to 1080p
Color: Silver grey back and black sides
Its a very nice little tablet for the price you pay.
The problem im having is connecting my Huawei E173 dongle.
When i plug it in all i get is the storage registering and thats it.
I have contacted the manufacturer to ask which dongles are support and non of them are available to me (problems of living in Zimbabwe)
My questions is:
What is the best way to build in support for this device on my Karbonn?
Is it something a noob (like my self can do).
I did use Free BSD about 6 years ago but have had little interaction with Linux / unix since then.
Any help would be appreciated.

Why do you need the 3G Dongle when your tablet got 3G support already built in?
No sim card slot

The 3G is provided by a list of supported dongles and not (unfortunately) by a sim card slot.

Ah, ok. Confusing spec.
In general, implementing support for a new dongle is quite complicated require a new Linux kernel build, re-flashing the tablet etc. Not very noob friendly at all.
But if you are very lucky, your tablet already got the required drivers compiled into the kernel. The trick is that the kernel can't see the 3G modem as is right now. This is because it is identifying itself as a storage device, and not a modem. In the dongle there's a software switch you need to turn, changing it from storage device to modem. Try flipping it, and see if the kernel and the rest of the table accepts it.
You need a software to flip this switch you'll have to download and compile. You able to compile native code for your tablet?
You find the software here: http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/
Edit: You are in luck. there's a pre-compiled binary for ARM at the same site. http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/usb_modeswitch-1.1.9-arm-static.bz2
Edit2: You want to read this as well I just stumbled upon: http://iamswagat.blogspot.in/2012/05/configure-funbook-to-use-any-dongle-and.html
Hello forum, jumping through blogs in my country (Argentina) i got to this proyect of some guys who are planning to give monitor mode and packet injector in broadcom wifi chipsets 4329 (Nexus One) and 4330 (Galaxy SII) at the moment, but said that they may release for other phones in due time.
Currently its just monitor mode and support for the airmon-ng but maybe we will be able to aircrack with our phones, here you have the link to the website (i read the rules and didn't see anything against external links, and this is freeware so i think there will be no problem, if there is a problem just tell me and i will try to copy the web's information.

Hi guys, I own a S4 (I9505) for more than one year and didn't bother to tweak it (no time ). Previously I owned an S2 and S3, and played a lot with them (rooting, new ROM, etc). Since then I kinda missed the game, I confess I tried to read some instructions how to root/mod S4 and didn't understood completely the procedure
Now I need more battery time from my phone without switching off all the goodies (data, sync,etc...) so my first thought what regarding the mobile connection, which from my experience eats a lot, especially in 4G mode. So
1) I would like to recommend me a ROM that supports autoswitching of 2G/3G/4G modes, meaning that when the screen is off the mode would be 2G and once the screen is on the mobile data switch back to 3G/4G. I know that there are/were applications (like JuiceDefender) that could do this but they required a ROM that support this.
2) An application that do the above ! Juice Defender was an option but I see is no longer updated
3) A link to some clear/detailed instructions about the rooting procedure
Many thanks in advance !
Hi folks!
I have the original Nexus 7 Tablet and the latest Android. Unfortunately, it seems that somewhere during Android updates Google screwed up the wireless and it now prefers any other network then the one I want it to connect to .
Like so many others, I've been complaining over on the Google forums about it but it doesn't look like Google will be doing anything about the issue any time soon.
Is there any way to lock the damn tablet to one specific network? This would make my life a lot better.
