big..........
I don't love how obscenely tall+wide it is, but I can live with that, for a 6 inch screen.
However, it is simply too thick and the non-removable battery is too small.
The Nexus 6 is thicker than all its 6-inch contemporaries (Mate 2, Mate 7, Vibe Z2 Pro) and in the case of the latter two, significantly so.
I could even live with this thickness if it packed a huge battery, but it does not. All 3 of those contemporaries have batteries that are at least 25% larger. People are quick to point out that the Nexus 6 has the same capacity as the Note 4. Well, this same battery is powering a .3" larger screen in the Nexus 6, and unlike the Note 4, is non-removable.
I am a huge lover of Nexus devices. I love everything about the stock Android, developer friendly devices. But I will very likely not be getting this new Nexus, after owning every iteration beginning with the Galaxy Nexus.
the note also has to power the wacom digitizer, and is a lot more software heavy which will put extra strain on the battery
Too Big !!! to handle ...
Screen size should really not exceed more the 5". 5" is good enough for a smart fone
It's going to be big, but I will get used to it. I just can't pass up a Nexus phone with those specs.
*edit
Pretty neat tool to compare its size.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Google-Nexus-6,Apple-iPhone-6-Plus/phones/8626,8908
With the case I have on my Nexus 5, its not that much bigger. I may have to go caseless tho.
Specs to add:
Wireless Charging + Turbo Charging
F2.0 Camera
10.1mm thickness with a curved back. It's razor thin on the sides.
Compared to the iPhone6+, Iphone6, and MotoX (2013).
Honestly, I am hyped and I cannot wait to upgrade from my N4 to this!
Love Back Camera Style
Nexus 6 is good in features. It has large screen, latest Android and all other stuff but the thing that I liked the most is camera representation.
Like apple , Nexus should go with a logo.
Sorry as much as I like nexus based phones I will not buy any phone without an SD
card slot.
Love the phone, but my first impression after a week is that it was built upside down.
The heavier, thicker part feels better in the palm of my hand, rather than at the top where the device ends up feeling top-heavy.

Your so right. I just flipped mine upside down and it's way easier to handle. Oh well. I still like it.

Flipping is a good idea.
I got the idea to check the lcd_density in Lollipop..
Google set this value to 560 dpi for the Nexus 6.
I do not understand that, because the native dpi of the N6-display is 493.
Changed the density from 560 to 493.
Result: better screen, smaller icons. Room for 5 columns instead of 4.
(Now looking for an idea to change the white background to black and characters to white).
Just Love It
Im coming from a nexus 5 - OPO...... After using it for more than a month,
I really love the screen and its size, Actually the smaller bezel on the bottom makes sense to me. when the nav bar is visible it looks as if the bezels are completely balanced. I like the design and the curves but after seeing some phones with damaged plastic backs Im very concerned about it now. I dont see my self selling this until the next nexus. Sorry about my english.
what i can say is without a doubt ill never go back to another type of phone. i cant believe i waited to long to find this out. how you can flash away without the risk of bricking, and the phone complaining about the software being changed. incredible
Front facing speakers are now a must have feature for me, absolutely love them!
i like
Like it, new system for me

TBH I wish it has the Snapdragon 810 with ARMv8-A (64-bit architecture) as it has a lot of new features and performance/battery improvements over the older ARMv7 (32-bit architecture). Other than that im super happy! I guess something to look forward to for the next Nexus, 64 BIT PROCESSING!!!
BUT THAT CHARGING THO!! 0-50% in like 15-20mins!!

Wasn't the concern about the Snap 810 was overheating?
Either way the phone goes beast mode through anything.
Charging is definitely where its at though!
big feel heavy IN hand, screen wide enough for me

Only problem? Samsung. They've never been amazing with firmware updates. Their app drawer is also really, really ugly.
"Successor" seems a bit of an exaggeration, too, considering this uses a 1 GHz Snapdragon anyway. It's the same generation. I'd consider a device a "successor" if it's the next step up--1.5 GHz processor at the very least.
I bet it will be awesome...until the next version of android comes out.
what about rom/ram?
I'm impressed they have xvid/divx playback in there. I imagine it won't be long until we get that on our nexus one.
And the size??
I mean 4" screen is cool to have, but the whole phone gets bigger...SamsungPad ...but I like the front camera

That's true. I'm eagerly awaiting the next batch of processors, but who knows when that will be?
In the mean time, this has me salivating.

LOL, the exact same thing I thought when I saw it say Samsung.
While I am impressed at all the support for various files, they couldn't force that hideous UI on me.

N1: 59.8 x 119 x 11.5 millimetres, 130 grams (battery included)
From: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2200&c=google_nexus_one_us_htc_passion
S: 64.2 x 122.4 x 9.9mm, 118g
Thinner and lighter. Width and height are just barely larger, which is impressive considering the extra 0.3" on the screen size.

This I can't disagree. The S looks like an iPhone clone. The N1 has its OWN style.
Also, there's the HTC Supersonic: basically a HD2 but with Android on it. Sleek as hell, WiMax/4G support, and an even bigger screen! It's about the only phone currently that makes me lust a little.
cool phone, unfortunately looks too much like an iDoesNot.
I just want the codecs/binaries ported!
Super amoled is amoled and touch sensors in the same layer
Htc supersonic ftw!!!!!!!!!
I dont see this phone being thinner as a good thing. The N1 is thin enough as is. Make the Samsung a little thicker than the N1 with a hard keyboard and im sold.
Hmmmmm...
No sir, I don't like it.
WHY DON'T WE GET THE GOOD PHONES IN CANADA I hate that....
Not bad, not bad at all.
Would ditch that UI though.
Samsung has just revealed the Galaxy Note 10.1 - it's 10.1-inch and "only" with the same specs of Galaxy Note:

Specs:
1.4 GHz Exynos DC
10.1 Inch Screen (1280x800 Resolution)
Android 4.0
3 MP Cam
16GB/32GB/64 GB
S-Pen
Same specs as the Note, except for the camera. This has 3Mpixel camera as a main one. According to PCworld, the built-in S Note program spawns a window to the right of the Web browser, so as to take notes while still surfing. 7000mAh battery, Android 4.0 and will come in 16, 32, and 64GB models. Keep in mind this has the same resolution as the Note.
However, i still wouldn't buy it. The reason is portability.
meh ill pass i already have a Gtab 10.1, cant wait for the Note 2 tho .
Im a bit sad as it does not have 1920x1080.. would have been awesome though!

Don't you think that's an overkill for a tiny screen? I think 1280x800 or 1600x900 is plenty...
Many 30 and 40'' tv's still have only 1366x768.
Always the same discussion. The difference here is that you so not sit 10 inches from that 40" TV. You usually sit 10 feet away. So the screen is bigger but also you are farther away.
Also we are forgetting the big difference between the 5.3" and 10.1" Note, the smaller one is a phone, has 3G radio.
The good thing about this announcement is that it has ICS on it, and, as the internal hardware is the same as the 5.3" Note, it means it should not take much time to get a ICS ROM for our note. They just have to add drivers for the phone and FM radio parts.

Agree with above
I was hoping it would be a new a15 processor, but sadly it seems that is not the case :-(
As great as the specs of the note are at present, they are going to be quickly over taken once the Snapdragon S4s and Tegra 3s start hitting the market.
Also the resolution of the screen, whilst acceptable, is going to look outdated in less than a month.
I know these are the perils of buying any high end android device, but I was hoping Samsung would be smart enough to be 1 step ahead. Seems not.
With Apple releasing a retina display for iPad 3 1280x800 is a bit underwhelming for a new tablet. It's not a penile screen though, so that differs from the note.

Here's what Slashgear thinks about it:
http://www.slashgear.com/samsung-galaxy-note-10-1-eyes-on-27215509/
One great thing about it is the bundled Adobe photoshop touch and Adobe ideas software that you get for free. They look really nice, and they cost £6.99 or $9.99 each to buy on their own, so it's great to have them included.
Would it be really optimistic to hope that once the original note gets ICS, those apps will be added to the Samsung app store for note owners to download for free?... Pretty please Samsung?
since the the galaxy note has basically the same hardware.. i wonder if we can just interchange roms

These tablets feel like a refresh, probably the real game changer is the rumored Tab/Note 11.6 which is probably on a separate event.
No AMOLED display? sigh
Even though AMOLED colors, dynamic range, and 'white balance' (too warm) stinks, but, i'm accustomed to its super contrasty fakeness
Well yeah, same name but bigger, dont think they will upgrade it so much
Can it make phone calls? If not, then I perfer the 7.7
great ! I need the phone with the same size !
Personally I'm quite excited by this.
GSM Arena have reported that its the same screen as the standard Galaxy Tab but with a different Digitizer to support the S-Pen, According to them its quite a bit quicker than the S-Pen running on the 5.3" so hopefully the ICS upgrade will be including the new drivers to upgrade the performance of the pen.
Other than that, its a fantastic idea. Sit in the office all day designing using your regular Photoshop Set-Up with a Wacom tablet, Then go home and chill on your sofa and continue your design using your 10.1" Wacom Powered Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and then continue your work on the bus on your Wacom Powered 5.3" Samsung Galaxy Note 5.3.
This makes the device a designers paradise, I'm not a designer and I never will be... But I think this is a good shot by Samsung to try and take a device away from the regular Power-Users.

lol. "penile"?
Think i'll wait for ver2 to appear in 12 months or so - it may have a quadcore by then, which would make it a real powerhourse for photo editing RAW files striaght from camera.
It's been 24 hours since the launch of SGS3. In the forums and the blogs in general, I saw a lot of negativity about the phone. This feels a lot like the iPhone4S situation. I wondered if Samsung actually dropped the ball. I felt it was a decent upgrade, and also something different that Samsung is attempting for first time. In every previous launch event, all they showed was specs, power etc., This time they just concentrated only on services and features. AFAICR, they used the term Android maybe twice and did not even mention the speed of cores. Then I saw this thread about how HOX is so much better. I thought why not do a proper survey w.r.t various parameter. So here it goes:
1] Looks: HTC is better. HOX looks more sophisticated. SGS3 is a "safe" design IMO. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary either. Not a deal-breaker for me.
Verdict: HOX
2] Build quality: Maybe same. Once we have the SGS3 in hand, we can be more sure. But in all probability, both phones should be equal in this respect.
Verdict: Tie
3] Display: More sub-pixel on HOX. Many people don't like PenTile. But at such resolution, I don't think it would be such a big deal. The display in SGS3 is 21% bigger area than SGS2. With this comes 60% more sub-pixels compared to SGS2. So, this should be definitely better than SGS2 display. Note that Sensation had more pixels compared to SGS2 (qHD vs WVGA), still it didn't stop SGS2 to sell few times more than Sensation. Needless to say texts will be crisper on HOX, but SGS3 wins hands down on contrast and black levels. Common folk tend to like the AMOLED screens just for this. As per Anandtech: Take the Galaxy Nexus, subtract the luminance grain, make it a bit bigger, and you have the SGS3 panel.
Note that AMOLED is a big selling factor for common folks. There are only 2 brands in mobile display - Retina and AMOLED. IPS / PLS / SLCD / AVS does not make any difference for general people. I can bet that HD Super AMOLED logo itself will sell a lot more units for Samsung. Plus or no Plus simply won't matter.
Verdict: HOX for XDA-nerds, SGS3 for general public.
4] CPU: Exynos is just too good. Check AnTuTu, BrowserMark, SunSpider.

AnTutu scores for SGS3 are in range of 11000-12000.
Verdict: SGS3
5] GPU: This is where Tegra3 is left embarrassed.
Tegra3 has a single channel memory controller. Exynos also uses 128-bit internal bus like A15's. While all other A9 uses 64-bit AFAIK.
Verdict: SGS3
6] Audio: Beats is pure meh! Here SGS3 is clear winner just because of the Wolfson DAC. Trust the guru:
http://twitter.com/#!/supercurio/status/198149523724439553
http://twitter.com/#!/supercurio/status/198151127534018560
Native sampling rate: 44100 Hz. It means music played will be sent as-is to the DAC instead of being processed by a software up-sampling routine as it is on Galaxy Nexus or other devices with codecs accepting only 48000 Hz.
Verdict: SGS3
7] Camera: Both cameras look same. Nothing much known about the sensor SGS3 uses. It's S5C73M3 BSI sensor. Whereas HOX uses the Samsung sensor S5K3H2YX. This was one of sensors in SGS2. HOX has the same sensor used in SGS2. F stop is much better in HTC -- 2 compared to 2.6 in SGS3. But that's just one part of story. We have to check the sensor capabilities. Like I mentioned HTC is using the sensor from SGS2, and SGS3 uses a brand new sensor. And HOX never proved to be best shooter even before the SGS3 launch.
HOX review from GSMarena: The first two charts play to the One X strengths and shows it as a good shooter, though still not the best in the 8MP game. The third chart shows good too, but also some artifacts due to the sub-optimal processing of the One X.
There are other novelties associated with both shooters -- burst mode, best pic, scene selection. It's virtually same here.
Verdict: Still up for debate.
8] Video: SGS3 is clear winner here. HOX does not record in High profile. It records at mere 10 Mbps Baseline whereas SGS3 does High Profile recording at 17 Mbps.
Verdict: SGS3
9] Battery: Bigger and removable battery in SGS3. Also better lithography in 32nm HKMG.
Winner: SGS3
10] Storage: More options for SGS3. Also MicroSD upto 64GB and 50GB dropbox.
Verdict: SGS3
11] RAM: Both 1 GB.
Verdict: Tie
12] Communication: Wi-Fi / NFC / GPS / GLONASS / MHL are same on both devices. SGS3 though have Wi-Fi Direct for real faster data transfer.
Someone can compare the radio / baseband and other related entries.
Verdict: Tie
13] Accessories: Almost same again. SGS3 has Wireless charging. Good for publicity, nothing more.
Verdict: Tie
14] Sensors: HOX has Gyro sensor, G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor.
SGS3 has Accelerometer, Magnetic Field sensor, Orientation + Gravity + Linear acceleration + Rotation, Light & Proximity, Gyroscope, Pressure sensor.
Verdict: SGS3
15] Misc Novelties: These might not matter much for XDA-geeks, but are a good way to attract customer. Lets talk about HOX first - the most visible parameter is Beats audio. Not sure if they include it now, but it's a nice gimmick for consumers.
SGS3 clearly is aiming for a lot of such experiences/services. S Voice, Smart stay, Direct Call, Pop up play, Social tag etc.,
Verdict: SGS3
16] Sense vs TW: Again purely subjective. I can live with both. Each has their own style. I would have liked for more darker theme for TW as it has the AMOLED screen. The colours "pop-out" and shows great contrast level with a darker theme. Would have made better use of the AMOLED screen. Sense, on the other hand should have gone for a more luminous theme. The screen has high Nits value. So brighter theme would be more suitable.
Verdict: Tie
I plan to modify and add items as we discover more about these phones. Comments supporting and opposing any phones is more than welcome.
cheers!

Not sure what to think? I want most of the specs from the 6P to be in the 5X, 5.7 screen is just to big
that's too bad, even the 32GB version only has 2GB of RAM. they're going to miss a ton of sales due to this alone.
no SD card was expected, but people who are new to Nexus devices won't like that either.
sales will be even softer due to no carriers or brick & mortar retailers selling it.
for those wanting a ~5" device, next one to look fwd to will be the OnePlus Mini which should be out by Christmas.
I thought other leaked info indicated camera sensor is RGBW?
Well now we know that the price for 16GB is $379 (probably will be well over £300 I reckon) we can safely say this thing is not that competitive really, on specs or on price. Makes it an easy decision for me.
4K, 340fps?? really?
I skipped the nexus 6 last year, now again I'm disappointed. Not buying this.
Tapping on the toe with a new hat
dissapointed. but well see on the reviews
Wow really this is it! Was deciding the sell my oneplus two but now after this I'm keeping it!
HTC is announcing new phones tomorrow as well, including a 5" phone with mid-range specs (SD 617 chip) that looks just like an iPhone on the back. pretty sure that phone only has 2GB RAM as well.

no, but just figured i'd mention what else is coming available in the 5" size. of course, you could just unlock, root, and install a custom AOSP rom with HTC.
Hmm...so no snapdragon 820 and QHD display that were rumored.
hexacore. rrriiiight. I think I'll just get this for $140 and call it a day.

That's what i thought when i bought the lg g2, but since lg never released lollipop in my country every lollipop aosp rom had issues. Look at the galaxy s6 forums, no aosp in sight.

That wasn't a rumor, it was a pipe dream. SD820 isn't coming out till next year.

there's no AOSP for S6 due to the proprietary processor Samsung uses, it's essentially closed source so developers don't have access and thus really can't bother.

My eyes popped out looking at that too. Has to be a typo, unfortunately.
2GB ram is kinda retarded... I just cannot undestand why they did this....
I don't understand why the hell everyone wants more than 2 GBs of ram. It's a bloody phone...
I am happy with it. Just miss a 64GB option. And maybe G4's 3000mAh Battery.
Am am sure this will be again a hot seller...
For me, all they needed to do was pretty much an updated version of the original, but this time sort out the camera and battery.
I know many find the specs to be under what's expected. But in a few months time when the 5X is still smooth running the latest M and the S6 owners are still waiting, the 5X may be the smart choice.
Lets see what the reviews say about the Camera & Battery.
Hi all
This thread is for general discussions regarding the Sony Xperia Z5's specifications and design features. Feel free to post why you picked the Z5 over its competitors, and why.

I really like the green color, waterproof/resistant, the vibrating motor is amazing (I think this is a part many overlook in reviews but I hate rattling vibrator motors).
The battery life could be better but its not disappointing in my opinion this will probably get better with marshmallow. Oh and the low light camera performance is slightly worse than what I was expecting.
Overall I think its one of the best android devices this year. No other high end smartphone has IP65&IP68 while keeping a pretty design (the S6 active is ugly plus touchwizz dont even wanna think about it). The camera in daylight is amazing much better than the iphone 6s plus(I own both devices).
Thats about it I think as far as why I picked the Z5.
Spec wise, to me, it's the only complete package phone of 2015 besides the lg g4.
I wanted a ~5 inch screen, had to be FAST and a have great camera. I like pointy rectangles in my phones and a close to stock Android interface too.
Samsung S6 is an ugly phone with a gaudy UI - never considered it even though I could've bought one for €200 less...
Regret: Should've gotten the green one.

I had the Z2! Really felt an absurd difference in the vibration of the Z5! Very good! Sony changed the vibration motor?
I like the design of the phone. Ergonomics, finger print scanner, frosted glass design. Enjoying my device
The vibrator motor in my Z1 was enough to make it fall off my desk if someone was calling (I had to tone it down) and all I hear about Sony from any decent reviewer is the vibrator motor is enough to break your femur
Hello guuys i've a question,
it is supossed that z5 has SD810 v2.1 rigth? , so why cpu temp shows mine as rev1?
