hey guys
I've just received my nexus 7 2012 from Ebay.
The seller clearly stated that the device couldn't charge while turned on.
So now, is there anyway to charge it while it's on, or fix this problem.
It also doesn't interact with the PC when it is plugged in, which is why I bought the tablet in the first place.
Thanks,
Jem
Return it to stock firmware. If it still won't, it's hardware related... Though I don't see how... Haven't read any issues on your situation.

Did you try a different cable and charger?
Gsam from playstore will tell you what mA is using while plugged in. Curious to see what it says. ?

Thanks for your reply,
GSam shows no current being put into the device, and I think it is on stock firmware, I've just bought it as I said and I've done a root check just in case.
The device has already been factory reset when I received it so I'm certain it's hardware.
The previous owner said that the micro USB connected had been replaced, so i'm thinking maybe a whole I/O assembly would help fit if not narrow down the possible problem.
Also, do you think a new battery would help? It's only a power source but some wires to the little connector could be damaged.
Thanks again,
Jem

sweet! Can we also solder in an fm/am radio?
I believe you are going to need more than just a sim reader, like a 3g radio/modem. If you search on here, somebody has already converted their a500 to an a501 by installing a 3g modem and sim card reader in his 500.

are you serious
This has been discussed several times.as this would be awesome if it could be pulled off.
With that said there is more to a similar card capability then just the slot. There are many required support hardware chips.not to mention the support software. But I will not mention there is no connector where the micro card slot goes.and no card.
So sell your a 500 and buy a a501.
Or get a main board from one that has been damaged check eBay.
Sorry to drop the bad news first.

You should have researched even a little bit before you came to this, it's like you didn't even try: it's mentioned hundreds of times here on forums that A500 does not have 3G modem at all, there are plenty of pictures of it being taken apart and you obviously could've checked your own A500, too.

I have a hard time taking this seriously, and but for s&g could you post some of your more detailed instructions?
PS who wants the cost of an extra data plan? I'd rather be tethering my phone anyway.
Cheaper and less work to buy an a501

And OP please dont take it personal i can see how one would that if the casing slot is there the hardware must be able to be added.. But the real reason that slot hole is there it saves them money from building two casings.. Acer could have made some type of blank to cover it instead of tape...

The signs of "old", are in 2 places.
1, when the brain convinces the body it can no longer function.
2, when the lubricating fluids no longer flow.
As long as the previous 2 still work, hell, no problem.
Happy Holidays!
This is my friend's SGS3. It was working perfectly normal till today.
Then after pressing the power button(the phone was locked), it didn't respond.
I tried to go every way I could. No download mode/ Recovery mode.
The phone was stock.(Never touched for any mod, not even rooted).
But now it just keeps rebooting irrespective of the mode I try to boot into.
Even with the power cable in, it just shows the battery bar and just keeps rebooting.
This is really irritating. The phone is hardly 4 months old.
It's a type of sudden death. But a weird death where the phone hasn't died nor is it alive.
I can go to the service center as I didn't have any modifications done, but it is really annoying that so many SGS3's die so quickly.
Any responses will be appreciated.

I don't know if this friend of mine made a monumental discovery or is just plain stupid. He told me he used a Samsung USB Jig to get in download mode on the Nexus 7 when he couldn't flash through the usual method. I tried explaining to him that the USB jig can't work on it since the JTAG connector is configured differently, but he insists that it worked.
So, since I don't have the device myself I need to ask you guys. If you have a USB jig at home, please try iton the Nexus 7 and post the results. I suppose that if you have one, you know how they work.
Interesting story, I'll try

Hello,
I was just wondering, has anyone successfully gotten their cracked screen fixed through a third party? And if so, what was the estimated cost and time to get it done? I know this will vary from place to place but just wanted to get a general idea.
Unfortunately, I cracked my phone a couple of days ago, and since I didn't purchase nexus protect, I'm kinda lost on what to do. I'll probably start calling some local places, but I fear that many, if not all, will tell me they won't be able to fix it. Anyways, just trying to figure out the game plan so if anyone can shed some light on their experience, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I'm afraid the price won't be cheap if you let it be fixed by third party. Probably over $200+ cause I find the price for the screen assembly is $130+

hijacking the thread, my rear glass had shattered last Friday somehow. I'm also looking to find a service vendor that might provide repair services in Geneva, Switzerland. No luck so far.
Why don't you just insure your phone.

Damn...this will really suck. I'm pretty sure the turnaround time to get a new Note 7 will be bad. I use my spen a lot and I created a bunch of notes with he new Samsung Notes app which isn't backwards compatible with any of the other note phones.
Even if I backup to the cloud, what other device can I use to view Samsung Notes?

I wonder how that will work. I'm okay with waiting for the Sprint store to get them in stock and then I go exchange it, but if they want me to send it in then wait for a replacement, that's a no go...

That is not normal. My note 7 is perfectly cool (battery temperature below 90 F) while charging overnight.
All of the major news outlets are picking up on the recall: http://money.cnn.com/2016/09/02/technology/samsung-galaxy-note-7-recall/
Has anyone asked or heard anything from Sprint? I'm guessing we won't hear anything until all of the details are worked out. I've kept an eye on my phone and no overheating thus far...
According to a different article that I read as of yesterday (9/1) 35 devices out of the 2.5 million or so sold have experienced the issue. Percentage wise it's a very small risk. Just be careful and don't use cheap aftermarket chargers... (I know, I know, several were reported to use the Samsung charger).
Personally I wonder if it's a scaling problem (i.e. battery size) with their fast charge technology... This is the largest battery they are fast charging as far as I know. (I did NO research to verify any of this).

I've wondered the same thing. It's amazing (and nice) how fast these batteries charge, but I'd be okay if it was 25% to 50% slower. That would still be pretty quick.
Even better yet, use a battery that can handle the current fast charge rate.
My phone charges cool also but i don't wanna worry about future issues, the phone is fairly new

I love this phone. But how will samsung give us new phones? I called my local sprint store and they said don't bring it in? Are we supposed to be without a phone for some weeks or more? It is crazy, to think most of us just got this phone a few weeks ago.
