[Q] Galaxy S5 - Broken Screen - Locked - Get Picutres - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am working on a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 and trying to get the photos off of it before i send it in. The screen is black and appears to not respond to touch. The device has a pattern lock screen on it. I have tried a MHL adaptor to see the screen but it would not show up on the TV. The device powers up and still receives notifications and calls. The computer recognizes the device but wont show the files as it is locked. When i try to use adb it says the device is unauthorized. I am unable to authorize it on the message that should pop up on the phone. Kies 3 recognizes the device but says it is locked. The device was never registered to the Samsung find your device page. Do any of you have any ideas left for me to try? Thank you in advance.

S4 broken screen and Kies does not recognise phone

Hello All,
I recently had an accident with my phone and the screen broke into a 1000 pieces but is still together in the mobile.
I am trying to recover the pictures in the internal memory of the S4, and then the insurance will give me an exchange phone.
The problem I am currently having is one that I havnt been able to find on any post on any website, The screen is broke so the touch screen doesnt work, the start button seems to not be working or does work but nothing is shown on the screen or on the LCD light to indicate its on. I am trying to plug the phone into KIES 3, But the phone is not found/recognised so dosnt appear on the screen, I try to press the start button but nothing happens to make it recognise the phone. So seems Kies is a dead end here as it dosnt pick it up, and I also know that USB debugging is not enabled, as I found out by trying to use DR FONE FOR ANDROID, I manage to get to the 2nd option screen but says the USB debugging has to be enabled to work, but without being able to see the screen I cannot enable it. Is there any programme to view the phones screen on the laptop/computer and be able to access the system and enable the USB dbug?
I am currently downloading the ANDROID SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT as I read in some post, but will this resolve my problem or am I gonna hit a dead end???
I am hoping that the ROM/software of the computer hasnt broken or got corrupted as then the phone would be dead.....
Can someone please help me asap, as meanwhile I am without any phone till I am able to repair this one....
May I add that the PC dosnt recognsise it either, no new item appears in MY PC....
Mobile version is: GT-I9505 with the carrier being Orange Spain

[Q] S4 with cracked screen not recognized by Windows

Hi all,
I'm shocked to see how prone the Galaxy S4 is to screen cracking! 80-90% on googling "samsung cracked screen" or similar yields results about the S4. Wow..
Anyway, I'm not here to ask how to recover my data if my phone is pattern locked. I'd like to ask for some help in figuring out the weird behavior.
So, phone is/was locked with pattern, it's not registered with Samsung Find My Phone, digitizer+lcd are broken, USB Debugging is disabled. If I boot it up, the phone vibrates and I hear the samsung boot tune, and the LED briefly lights up. Also the menu buttons briefly light up. If I call myself, the phone rings and vibrates.
If I use the volume up / volume down buttons, the phone beeps for either of them but volume stays the same (seems like max volume).
If I connect the phone to my laptop, phone beeps and laptop tries to install a driver for "MTP USB Device", but it fails. Device Manager status is "The device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Kies does not recognize the phone, saying "This device is not supported by Kies. Make sure that your device is supported and try again".
Question is, is it possible something else got damaged when the phone 'involuntarily' hit the ground? It should've just got recognized by the laptop, and Kies should have reported I need to enter the pattern to unlock it (at least that's what it does for my S3 mini), no?
Would the digitizer/lcd not working affect something else within its OS?
I tried connecting my S3 mini's lcd to the S4, but the connectors don't match...duh.
anyone?

Maybe when I dropped it damaged the micro USB port as well, you could try a different pc first.
If another pc works try installing twrp recovery with odin then booting into the recovery, because it allows you to make file transfers when it's plugged into the pc
Reinstall the drivers. It's clearly a driver problem.
I've already tried it on a different computer and it does the same.
There is no driver to reinstall, it automatically installs it when I connect the phone.
I'm thinking it's due to the pattern lock. Can anyone with an S4 connect it to a computer and leave it locked. Does it try to install driver for "MTP USB Device"?

Need access to a phone with a broken screen.

So, here is my situation. The screen is not working. The touch works, but the display is completely dead. I need to enter an 8 digit password to log in but cannot see what I am entering therefore it is difficult. I need a way to either control the phone from my computer or have the phone screen be displayed. I cannot turn on screen mirroring because I cannot see the screen on the phone. USB debugging is not available because, I CANNOT ENTER THE PASSWORD. I need a way to have the phone screen appear on my laptop or even on my TV. I do not know how, and anything I found online does not work for my situation. I cannot see my screen, that is literally all I want because the phone itself will not turn on. I can't even access the phone from my laptop because I cannot unlock it so that is out the window as well.
I would print myslef a picture with a password entering screen. Than I would put it on screen and touch on it the password.

How to recover data after display stopped working?

Hehy there,
unfortunately the screen on my mi9t stopped displaying. Really weird. While I was using it, the screen started flashing, just to turn black and never wake up again. No fall or water involved. The phone still seems to work fine, and even touch seems to work, but no display.
I opened up the phone to see if the connector got loose, but everything is well in place.
Now my problem ist, that I can not access the phone anymore. All my files and things are still on there but unreachable.
Here are the facts:
- no display
- bootloader is locked
- usb debugging is enabled, but my pc is not authorized
- I can blindly get into fastboot and to the lockscreen
- I am not able to blindly unlock the device
Easiest option would obvoulsy be to exchange the display, but unfortunately I can not get on here (South Africa) and shipping would take a month.
My favourite aproach so far was to mirror the screen via Vizor, but unfortunately it needs to install the according app on the device, which it can not while the device is locked.
Does someone here know how to recover the data?
Thanks
and a happy new year to everyone!

When I experimented, I was able to unlock my two SIM cards and Android by adb (replace xxxx by your PINs)
However, phone was rooted and shell was given the root grant:
adb wait-for-device devices
adb shell
su
input text xxxx
input keyevent 66
input text xxxx
input keyevent 66
input touchscreen swipe 930 880 930 380
input text xxxx
exit
exit
try fastboot apk
Mirror screen to pc with vyzor. You have usb debugging turned on, so it's worth a try.
If touch doesn't work, use usb otg adapter to plug keyboard or mouse
There's no other option.

Thank your for the idea! Unfortunately it does not work in the unrooted phone. I suspect that's only because I can't the adb connection to my pv authorized.
I tried this on an unrooted lineage os 17, which I have on my old Mix2, and there it works like a charm.

Thanks for the advice. I think i tried everything to get the apk installed, but I can not do anything through adb since even though debugging is activated, the connection to my pc is not authorized.
I guess I have to wait for the replacement screen.

Any water exposure? Ever?
May not be the screen; a mobo failure is just as likely even more so especially if they use no lead solder paste.
Maybe a loose or bad connector/cable if you get real lucky... and find it.
