Got a galaxy s4. It reboots and sometimes can't turn it on for ages. Then sometimes you can turn it on straightaway.
I had golden eye running it did loads at work last night. tried a few other roms all the same
Seems a bit strange...any ideas anyone?

i would say with yours mate thats just the update being a pain? rather than a real serious issue, theres a thread on xda relating to this update just search for that thread bud
Its strange so far with this s4
ive replaced the battery with a battery from ebay, looks like an official samsung one..no difference
reverted to stock..no change still reboots.
tried a few custom roms, reboots occurs. tried google edition, still the same
lowered processor speed, for some reason when i go to rom toolbox the phones whacking out at 1820 mhz..i dont know if thats normal?
another strange issue. When the phone switches on it takes a fair while for the mobile network to connect, ive owned a fair few phones but this one really does take a long time,
anyone have any idea at all, before i got to send it back to samsung and wait for 5 years to get it back
If it shuts down and you can't reboot anymore, then it's a hardware issue.

No..at times what happens is that the power button gets stuck and it does not release...or maybe there is some glitch in the hardware underneath the button..
Get it checked or check it yourself..

i know there are like 20 other bricked vibrant threads but mine is a unick question.
alright so i called t mobile like 3 day ago. and i told them i had a phone witch would not boot into recovery threw the key so they send me a new one. so the one i had at home i tried to unroot but some how i ended up bricking the phone. the problem with the phone is i cant boot into recovery since my phone is hardware lock. and when i tried to plug the phone to the charger it would start charging and the freeze on me. and also when i turn the phone on it would show me the vibrant screen and then it would go black and the key lights up, help and dont show me the booting s screen after the vibrant screen it goes black. and would i have any problem if i send this phone to tmobile bricked even thought i called for a hardware defective phone.
Try crying. SRY... meant searching.

can i just send the old one back. it was ok before i tried to unroot. i have a new one but as you read i got it because i told them i had a hardware defective phone.
If they have already authorized the swap, you are good.
Tmo is very root friendly. Two of their top app picks this month are setcpu and ROM manager.
I've swapped out 2 phones that were rooted with them without a hassle. The last time I swapped my myTouch, I didn't even bother taking Froyo off it. Not a peep from them.

Thank you!!!! Very much. You just took a big waight of my shoulders. Am now happy since the new phone they send me can boot into recovery and also is not laggy at all and gps can pin point were I am in like 4 seconds. And the market opens up withought having to take seconds to load the apps.

no problem. I was scared to death when I took my Vibrant in the first time. I re-paritioned the internal SD instead of my external. This was before I was ok with Odin and within HOURS of buying the phone. The guy took a look at my phone and asked me what I did to it. I told him and he promptly grabbed me a new phone. He swapped it out in their computer and said "See you tomorrow!"
I <3 Tmo.
Ram quadrant standard got 909 good for not having any lagfix. Againg thank you!!!! For answering.

You're welcome.
Hi,
I've searched and searched and I actually come to the conclusion that it is certainly bricked but all the related answers have somewhat different problems not exactly the same as mine.
Basically I was doing a firmware upgrade from 2.2.1 to 2.3.3 with Odin and it failed right at the end, the phone was stuck on the android download screen and Odin stopped.
I could not do anything, the phone wouldn't get out of that state and Odin was finished. I took out the battery and now the phone does not turn on on any mode. Tried simply turning on the phone, nothing, recovery mode, nothing, download mode, nada... The phone simply does not do anything, it is as if it didn't have any battery.
The conclusion I guess is that it is bricked and nothing can be done other than going down to service but would like to triple check just in case.
Grateful for any help.
Thanks

That's the only thing I have not tried, before doing the walk of shame to SCS I will do that, i will be a little pissed if I butcher a usb cable for nothing but will try and let you know.
Would SCS cover it under warranty if I made up some story about laptop freezing mid update or so?

Hi
My Nexus 4 is 8 months old and recently for no reason, my power button started behaving weirdly. Sometimes gently pressing it wont turn off the screen and other times it turns off the screen and turns it on again and on some occasions it works perfectly. It is not a ROM issue because sometimes the phone, if shut down, wont even power up.
But as days are passing by the behavior is getting more and more weird. I do not really need the power button coz I use alternatives, but some day if I need to turn on the phone when it is shut down or force shut down the device when it does not respond, there is no way to do so. (EDIT: Pressing volume down button while connecting to AC supply or USB puts device in fastboot mode. Then it can be rebooted using "fastboot reboot" so I am not very worried now)
I checked other posts on XDA but they claim the button is becoming harder to press. My button is not harder to press; it gets pressed just fine and even gives that clicking feeling when you press it. Only the resulting behavior is weird. Has anyone else had this issue? What could be the problem?
(EDIT 2: The power button seems to work properly if I use my thumb nail to press it)

I purchased the phone from the US but don't live in the US so there's no chance of RMA.
Same thing happened on my phone, mainly after I get my back cover replaced. Now I have to use navigation shortcut to lock the screen and volume button to wake.

did u get done with the rma? is it covered under warranty? coz my power button is acting weird but i am worried if the service center guys would say it depends on wear and tear or someting like that..
I'm have exactly the same issue with my 6 month old nexus 4. I'm feeling a bit reluctant to send of my phone for repair, even though it is in warranty and I have not modded it in any way. The thing the issue seems to be getting worse over time. Has anyone sent there phone with this issue of for repair yet?

I could normally press it , but the screen won't lock. But if I press it for more than 2s , I got the power off menu.

Got mine back on Friday, button now works as new. Although, the official repair description didn't really mention what was wrong only that two parts where replaced, no more detail.
dabby91: I recommend you go to the LG website and schedule a repair (lg.com/uk/support/repair-service/schedule-repair). I was without my phone for just over a week and they did a factory reset as well.
today morning i lost the vibration on my note 3 exynos factory 4.4.2. i mean lost it as in no haptic feedback..checked and my haptic feedback was on and no power saving mode enabled. i rebooted the phone and it was back.
just now i was showing off features to a friend with an iphone like smart pause pen window and an all.. and suddenly i lost the vibration again. no haptic feedback no vibration during call no vibration while typing.. its become very scaryy..
i rebooted twice checked that all settings are correct. no power saving enabled. i tried turning off and off the vibration. wiped cache from stock recovery am not rooted.
and even i did the vibration test from *#0*# no vibration..
please help....pleaseeeeeeee....

If no vibration on vibration test, go to Samsung customer service to check on phone or replace it if you just bought it, again never buy any electronics online.

Hey guys I have a issue with my S5 keeps freezing and vibrating twice before rebooting constantly I have tries flashing stock firmware via odin, repartitioning, custom roms, updated modems and still it keeps doing it at random intervals.
The other day it ran for about 48 hours without freezing but I have no idea what I did or didnt do that caused it any help would be much appreciated.

Since you tried all software fixes you could think of, problem's in hardware. Try another battery and see then. If even then it reboots it's something far more important than the battery and you're screwed :| (have to give it to repair shop).

I had the same problem and fixed it by changing to a new battery. It seems that the older battery doesn't hold enough peak charge whenever the CPU tried to stay at 100%.
already tried changing batteries that did not work for me.
Time for the repair shop route.. Or if it cost to much to fix, you can find a good used or new for cheap on ebay or swappa.
