bricked vibrant need answer. - Vibrant General

i know there are like 20 other bricked vibrant threads but mine is a unick question.
alright so i called t mobile like 3 day ago. and i told them i had a phone witch would not boot into recovery threw the key so they send me a new one. so the one i had at home i tried to unroot but some how i ended up bricking the phone. the problem with the phone is i cant boot into recovery since my phone is hardware lock. and when i tried to plug the phone to the charger it would start charging and the freeze on me. and also when i turn the phone on it would show me the vibrant screen and then it would go black and the key lights up, help and dont show me the booting s screen after the vibrant screen it goes black. and would i have any problem if i send this phone to tmobile bricked even thought i called for a hardware defective phone.

Try crying. SRY... meant searching.

can i just send the old one back. it was ok before i tried to unroot. i have a new one but as you read i got it because i told them i had a hardware defective phone.

If they have already authorized the swap, you are good.
Tmo is very root friendly. Two of their top app picks this month are setcpu and ROM manager.
I've swapped out 2 phones that were rooted with them without a hassle. The last time I swapped my myTouch, I didn't even bother taking Froyo off it. Not a peep from them.

Thank you!!!! Very much. You just took a big waight of my shoulders. Am now happy since the new phone they send me can boot into recovery and also is not laggy at all and gps can pin point were I am in like 4 seconds. And the market opens up withought having to take seconds to load the apps.

no problem. I was scared to death when I took my Vibrant in the first time. I re-paritioned the internal SD instead of my external. This was before I was ok with Odin and within HOURS of buying the phone. The guy took a look at my phone and asked me what I did to it. I told him and he promptly grabbed me a new phone. He swapped it out in their computer and said "See you tomorrow!"
I <3 Tmo.

Ram quadrant standard got 909 good for not having any lagfix. Againg thank you!!!! For answering.

Headphone jack?

So I went to try out slacker on my phone which is two weeks old now ever droppd, never been wet and I found out the headphone jack does not work??? Anyone else having this problem if so I will assume its a software problem before going to sprint..... let's hope the epics are not faulty and pulled in three months like the moments which they are finally admiting to people where ****

If the audio isn't going through the headphone jack when you plug in the headphones (as in still coming out of the speaker) then you have a faulty epic.
Sprint will replace it if you are under the 1month warranty.

Have not had time to take it in but yea thi one has some major problems the proxcimity sensors are ****ed too I have to tap on them repetedly to make my screen turn back on while in a call sucks cause I rooted this thing and got rid of all the fat no I have to do it again

no proximity sensor issues or headphone jack issues here.
When I got my evo on launch day I couldn't get the head phones to work. I found out for done reason there was a pace of plastic blocking the hack grok going all the easy down. I forced the jack and it worked. So weigh I gory my epic I just forced to jack all the way in cause of the evo. I haven't had any head phone issues

Got my new phone today seems to be working better I had a bad one for sure couple things on the new one work that where not working on the old one. The proximity sensor works normal and so does the head phone jack, also I notice that the soft keys stay on when I'm doing stuff not like the old where they would flash all the time on and off. So I just need to root it and ill be happy again. While I was at bestbuy I had them put a zaggs screen protector on the new one for me which btw was free since the one dude there kept ignoring me and taking care of other customers that where behind me when I got there. Anyone have a rom that they would reccomend? I never got one on the old epic cause **** was all messed up.

I am using the rom manager from the market and it shows that I have clockworks mod installed but it fails saying it can not find the whole update signature, my old one was doing that crap too. What is wrong here am i doing something wrong? It also does this every time i boot to the recovery console.

The ROM Manager install method doesn't work very well. Download the One Click Clockwork flasher, and run the run-try-first.bat. This should install Clockwork directly to where it needs to be, and let you boot straight to it with Vol Down + Camera + Power when the phone's off.

Sprint warrants the phone for one year, not one month. any problem in the first month gets you a new in box at any Sprint store because they don't want you to cancel, but that is not their warranty, which is one year from firs activation. Warranty without insurance service is given free for purchases before Oct 25, and is $35 for purchases after Oct 25.
Also some makes/models of phones have less robust physical parts. They would have run the 3.5 mm jack through at least 1000 cycles and established some failure rate. But who knows. certain Palm models had widespread failures of 3.5 jacks. It is too early to tell if the jacks on the galaxies hava problem. One would need to see who they are doing among people who use headphones 5 times a day after six months to a year.
Its stupid though my hero has two blow speakers and a dead trackball they say to warrenty it I need to go through htc now? Its stupid they already have ****ty customer service why are they making it worse? Sorry didnthave time to update the thread name this is my first non htc adroid phone and I know with all the data lock problems the moment has that samsung has some major hardware issues

Flash back to stock if the #1 key is broken??

Hi there,
I'd like to flash my phone back to stock because the volume up, 1, Q, A, FN, Shift keys are all not working. However, it looks like the first step in flashing back to stock is "enable download mode by holding down #1 and Power"
Well gee, that's impossible now . :-/ I was hoping to bring this into the sprint store to get a replacement... however when they see me running the Viper rom, I'm not sure how willing they are going to be..
Any ideas ?
Well my idea is this if you don't already have the insurance ... add it. Flash the stock rom threw clockwork and a kernal that doesn't interfere with the boot logo, then they won't even check in store if u go in for a keyboard problem.
But if you wanted to go all the way, break off one of the copper battery pins where the battery snaps in so the phone won't power on. Or apply a super small piece of scotch tape to them, and make sure its postioned where it can't bee seen easy, and the phone doesn't power on. Then go to the sprint store and say the phone will not turn on and for the past week or so before my keyboard keys bla bla bla have not been working.

Well go figure........the keys are now working again......sigh. I didn't try to fix it at all on purpose.
I would odin back to stock and still go. To sprint store for replacement. And at my sprint store the guy didn't even power it on when I complained of screen wobble, or check for sd card. He just went to back room and grabbed another one. I suppose every store is different though, depending on how they follow rules.

... this is insurance fraud.
You can use clockworkmod to flash the stock di18 rom. After that, you can use clockworkmod to flash an update that restores the stock recovery. Both files are posted in the development section. I did this when I exchanged my wifes phone (the usb connection was broken so I couldn't odin) and didn't have any problems.

So odin will not work for neither my computers.. and bricked.

So i accidently bricked my phone trying to update my modwm to the newest froyo one.
Now I keep trying too odin back to stock but it wont work. Ive bricked before and used my laptop and it restored but now it doesnt work on my laptop nor my desktop. They either both say the device is unknown or it connects and when I try to flash it either freezes on file analyses or param.
Im going to go to the sprint store later today and try to get a new one. When I try to turn my phone on i get the little phone arrow computer sign. Do you think if I tell them that my phone froze so I took out the battery and that happened they will believe me? Idk how much of rooting the sprint employees know. Should I deny everything?
You will likely need to tell the tech that you had some bugs (force closes or something) and tried to do a reset through recovery mode and ended up with a non-working phone. Techs will likely know a bit about rooting and roms, especially if they have their own android phone. They also know that rooting and 3rd party roms void your warranty and they are supposed to deny claims where the phone was running 3rd party roms.
Can they tell if I rooted it just by the phone to computer sign? I went to a sprint store earlier and they told me to go to the corperate store because he didnt know what that meant.. Also I bought it from bestbuy so if sprint doesnt cover it would bestbuy?

Bestbuy won't cover it. And if you plan on exchanging the phone, you'll have to go to the Sprint Corporate center. I bricked my phone the other day and it was only a $35 exchange for a new Samsung Epic. I only had to wait a day for a new one. They won't give you a new battery or SD card, so make sure to hold on to those.
Sorry about your phone.

I don't think it would matter, truthfully. If the computer doesn't recognize the phone to begin with, putting the phone into download mode won't have any effect.

Different usb cable maybe? If sasha101 can get into download mode the phone isn't bricked and there is at least still hope. Maybe re downloading odin and other files as well. Just a thought.

I usually have to rotate between the different pits (512, 513, 528, and no pit) before I can get it to succesfully flash, so this is something you can try.
I would definitly try a different cable. I wasn't able to use odin to load 2.1 and in fact I bricked (I think). Tried 2 different cables and tried someone else's pc. NO go. Went back to the best set of directions I had found, redownloaded all the software needed, borrowed my wife's cable and started over. Everything worked like I was told it should. I really believe I had cables. Will try to find a new good one for the next time I try Odin.
Good luck and Marry Christmas.

Umm.. if its not recognizing your phone you either didn't download the drivers; or they didn't install right. So.. (re)install them..
If this doesn't work its your cable; you'll need a new one.
Also; android isn't bricked until you can't get into download mode anymore.
Just because it doesn't boot doesn't mean its not bricked.

[Q] Mytouch 4g power button doesn't work

I've been using this phone for about four months brand new back in July. I was using my phone just perfectly yesterday with my power fully fuctional. Then it seemed like the button got stuck without a click and limited use, when i pushed down really hard. Now it seems like it feels like it did normally but now it does't work. My phone died and i tried to power it back on and nothing happened. Please help!! ):
The phone is borked. Call t mobile. They should send you another one.
The power button isnt something you can work around. And you might be able to fix it if you cracked the phone open....but why void the warrenty when they will give you a replacement now?
Faulty Power button is apparently on their list of known issues with the mt4g. I had to replace mine as well over the summer.

You don't need to press it very hard..I have never had any problems with it.
My power button has been hard to push for a couple months and I finally decided to call in cuz my year is almost up. After being hassled and having to call three times, I'm somehow getting a replacement (this will be my 4th MT4G in a year) and also a new phone for shipping costs, $5.99.
I picked the Amaze, but I'm not certain on it and can trade it if I want. If you had to pick a new tmo phone right now, what would you get?
And also, call tmo and keep telling them you're not happy. Worked for me...

The Amaze or Sensation are the direction I'd go. I'd probably steer toward the Sensation just because it's a little older and the rooting hacks have been found (not sure if they have for the Amaze yet) and because there's a CM7 available for it that's not perfect, but it's supposed to be good enough for a daily user.
I don't know how you pulled that off. I've had my MyTouch for 3 months and am already on my 4th one and they refuse to offer me anything but the 4GSlide, which I REALLY don't want with the thicker chassis and smaller screen. Plus I hate slidey keyboards.

They're getting there with the Amaze, no s-off but there's.ROMs and kernels...hopefully the dev scene grows.
I'm amazed it happened, too. I've been with tmo for like 12 years, but they also put the whole contract (5 lines) in a new 2 year, without telling me, ha. I think I told them about ten times I wasn't happy and that they needed to make me happy, so they finally did.

My wife's evo has some hardware issues with the camera. It is rooted, would you all recommend unrooting if going for a replacement?

Iv ran into this problem in the summer. My charger port was a little funky and non stop went into car mode. i was rooted and at the time was not able to unroot it. I asked for a replacement and when i had to send it in i did EVERYthing possiable so they wouldnt be able to even turn it on to see its rooted lol.
i cracked the screen badly.
shoved a screwdriver into the charger port so they couldnt charge it.
messed up the battery charging cells so no battery could power it on.

Yeah i went a little overkill but i was not able to unroot at all because my phone would not connect to any PC. It was the only other way lol! it worked though!
This question has probably been asked at least 50 times on here. The general consensus is that most sprint stores won't care if you are rooted, as long as you are on a stock rom. However, it is very possible they could flag your device and void your warranty. Since unrooting and re-rooting only takes 5 minutes, just do it to be safe.
The second part of my question is more my interest. I am aware of the general consensus.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
If you're gonna unroot (which I've never found necessary, after numerous screen and camera and speaker and bezel replacements), and remove any root related app, I'm not sure what more you could do, or what you're asking.
sent from AOKP heaven
The reason I say yes is because it's really hit or miss, it depends on the employee who is taking care of you. There are many people who've had success without unrooting and plenty who haven't.
I'm just a better safe than sorry type of guy. Rooting and unrooting only take a couple minutes anyway. Also there are enough refurb evos that most stores will take in your phone for repair and have you pick up a refurb the next day while your phone gets sent off to be repaired for the next person.
But if you plan on not unrooting then I would suggest a stock rooted rom without any root related apps and also a cleared SD card. I've heard a few stories of being turned down for repair for root related material on the SD card even after they unrooted lol.

I've heard a few stories of being turned down for repair for root related material on the SD card even after they unrooted lol.

id say pull your sd card, they wont give you a new one anyway. whenever iv got a new phone it didnt include sd card or battery. They just reused my old ones.
