Good evening, I recently got a SM-G900F Samsung galaxy s5, I've noticed recently that sometimes I'll have few hour spurts of where I won't receive text messages, and I also have issues with receiving iPhone text messages from friends too was wondering if anyone had any insight on this.

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I recently changed from Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S5 and for some time I stopped receiving text messages from most of the people that I normally text.
I'm not quite sure what the problem is, I have signal, can make phone calls, send text messages but they just won't come through if someone else sends them.
At first I thought it was because I was using Hangouts I my default messaging app, but recently I changed it back to the stock messages and still no improvement.
The thing is that if I put my sim card back to my Galaxy S4 the messages come to me in about 2 or 3 minutes, and then when I put it back to my S5 it starts to works fine. This is the 3rd time this has happened within 1 week or so.
Any suggestions? I searched for this problem but I couldn't find anything related.

Same problem here, maybe someone could help ?
Might you be on the T-Mobile variant? If so, the recently released firmware update supposedly fixes this ( or a similar? ) issue.

Friends of mine were at my house over the weekend and he had a samsung s4 and had the same problem after logging onto my wifi. It is the wifi causing the problem. I had an old modem and netgear router that we hooked up and then we were able to receive calls like you should. We switched out the modem/router combo on Sat to my older setup and my phone is still working normally! I called my dsl provider and told them about the problem as I just bought the modem/router combo from them recently.
They never heard of anything like this. I do find it hard to believe that the home wifi equipment disrutes the cell phone signal. But my phone is now working!!! Anyone ever heard of this or that can explain why this would happen I would love to hear about it.
A co-worker of mine bought a Droid Turbo 2 on Verizon and they recently rolled out Marshmallow 6.0. Since the upgrade, if he completely deletes a text message thread to someone, and then goes to send that person a brand new message, it still shows the text history from the previous messages, even though they were deleted. Anyone else seen this issue or know if there is a way to get rid of that? I have looked at several other devices running 6.0 or 6.0.1 and they do not have this issue, like my Galaxy S4 running 6.0.1 does not have this problem. Setting somewhere? Thoughts?
I'm on AT&T running AOSPA 6.0.3. I've had an MMS group chat with 3 co-workers (4 including myself) going for several months with no issue until a few days ago. I know this dude has a Samsung/Android phone of some sort and is on Verizon. I can receive images from him, but not text. I have tried changing/resetting my APN but it doesn't seem to do anything. The other 2 people in the group receive his and my messages with no issue. Again, it's just MMS text I can't receive from one particular contact. We can SMS each other no problem. I thought maybe there could be some tower issues and it'd fix itself in a day or so, but now it's been nearly a week. This is by far the weirdest issue I've ever encountered.
I have this same issue. Did you ever figure out a solution?
I can send/receive texts/MMS (group texts and pictures) from everyone okay besides my sister who has a Samsung galaxy s6 edge. We are both on AT&T. The messenger app says there is a text waiting to download but won't let me download it. Any ideas? Maybe an issue with the Samsung phones?
Try to send one MMS in Safe mode. Once it sends it, then reboot the cell. It should work. My wife has a Nexus 6 and this happen for no apparent reason and this fixed it. Hope it helps.
Sorry, life got busy and can't say I really ever figured it out. The safe mode thing sounds interesting. I finally flashed a Nougat ROM a few days ago and so far everything seems to be back to normal. Maybe my phone just needed a reset?

Hello, I have my Nexus 6p on 6.0.1, I can't remember when the problem started but my brother went from a S6 to a S7 and after that, my family always talks on group messaging and I suddenly stopped receiving his messages. I tried updating to Nougat but the problem still occurs on Nougat! I downgraded back to 6.0.1 and ALL THE SUDDEN his messages started appearing back in the group, but suddenly stopped again! All that happens is I get a notification on a separate thread from the group message from just him and it says 'message not downloaded. Tap to retry. No matter how many times I try to redownload, it never goes through. If I send him a single SMS, it works. I've tried resetting and using custom APN settings, different SMS apps, clearing cache, turning off wifi, rebooting phone and reinstalling Google message. Im able to communicate with everyone else in the group okay but it is just my brothers S7 group messages I'm not getting. There are 5 iPhones and 2 Galaxy S7's in the group which is odd that it's only happening to one of the s7's. I'm on 6.0.1, AT&T, rooted and have Xposed installed.
There is a new messenger version maybe try finding Google's messenger messenger from last year and keep it from not updating. I use to get group messages but haven't for awial didn't think it could of been because messenger stopped letting me get them. Rest of the family uses iPhones

Quick update, I was playing with my APN settings again and tried 'NXTGENPHONE' Then rebooted and told my brother send a test text in the group. I got it, then I asked to send another, it FAILED again.... Something is really wrong
I had the same issue on AT&T as well. Starting using a different messaging app (Textra) and haven't had an issue since.

Did anyone ever figure out what to do? I had the exact same experience as Krician and only with group MMS text with people who had Galaxys. It started off with only my cousin in the group text (he has an S7), and then eventually his MMS messages started coming through normally. Then this week, my brother's MMS group message wouldn't come through (he has an S6 edge). I decided to trial using a backup S6 edge this week to see if I get the same problem. In the meantime, I miss the Nexus 6p.
My s8 has not been receiving sms messages since Friday and it's quite annoying. I've tried resetting network settings , removing sim card I've even done a factory reset still no luck. Anyone else having this issue ?
Mine started doing this a few weeks ago as well?? Not really sure how long it's been going on now, could have been going on for months for all I know?
I've tried:
Yaata
Textra
Chomp
Pulse
and the stock messenger...
It *mainly* seems to be from iPhone users, but I get them fine from my wife and some friends that use iPhones.......So, it's not all the time?
It can be in the same thread too? I'll have some replies, but then they just stop..... I'll call them up and ask if they got my text, and they'll send me a screen shot (to my email) that shows they've been replying?
Any fix? On the latest At&t version.
