Really impressed on how the Z2 did in this test, considering how the Z1 one was rendered inoperable after AA did their drop test on it. Only slight structural damage and the dead pixels with no shattering of the glass.
Even I feel the test really made me very happy.I just loved that even after 3 deadly drops the phone was as good as New.

Wow it took some time until someone made a drop test but thats really good results.

Awesome! I watched the videos, was the only one left alive in this test! The rest either stopped working or broke the screen!

Do keep in mind that Android Authority's Josh Vergara dropped the phone on what looks to be a very flat surface. From the cracks on your phone, it looks like it might have landed on a pebble or something that could have applied more pressure on that one spot on the screen. It's just bad luck
It is rather odd how norms in society change. Drop tests? We all seriously do realise that this concept is absurd! Who purchases any such mobile device then starts to drop test it? I have just paid 1100€ for new glasses and am not going to drop test them! Guess what, if I did they would break or scratch...SURPRISE.
Any one dropped tested their new born baby yet? Equally absurd and distasteful. WHY would one even expect such a device to survive such drops? Is it designed to be dropped? There are industrial accredited mobile phones and lap tops that are built to survive a certain amount of abuse BUT they are not general consumer units.
I truly find such tests absurd and very immature. Please tell me we are not going to accept such 'tests' as the norm? Any one going to drop test their ultra book costing 1200€? No? Their new car. Drive it into a wall to test the airbags and crumple zones? No? I simply despair at some of the things we now accept in society. Drop tests on technological devices? So absurd it beggars belief.
If you drop your mobile it will be damaged. Is that not as obvious as driving our new car into a wall? What manufacturer says one can drop their device and have it survive? Where is this even written in the specs?

I am GENUINELY sorry you dropped your mobile, that truly is a pain in the neck.
What surprises me is you are surprised it broke? You do realise that its a mobile phone made from Glass and other sensitive interior materials?
One cannot drop such a device and these absurd unofficial 'drop tests' should be taken for what they are, silly and stupid. Problem is they will build into the public this false idea that such devices are designed to be dropped when no manufacturer would dare write such a thing.
Again I am sincerely sorry you dropped your phone. I hope it was insured?

Looking at the crack pattern, it would seem that it landed on a stone, or something that focused the pressure on a very small surface area, the cracks seem to originate from a very specific point, if it was just the shock that cracked it you wouldn't be able to see a specific origin point from the cracks, whereas this one you can.

No I'm not surprised.. I have friends who broke their S4 screen from having it on the back pocket.. But this is the first time this has happened to me as I have dropped my S1, S3, XZ many times without breaking the screen. In-fact I never had a casin for XZ. I'm not saying that we should worry about the durability of the Z2. This could be just bad luck as it went facedown probably hit something like a small piece of stone like you said..
So my point is don't look at those drop test videos and think your phone will survive in real life conditions when it drops. Make sure to have a full leather casin or something.

Butthurt much? First of all it's their choice to drop test the phone. How does it bother you that they drop and break "expensive" phones. If they are so expensive for you don't buy them. Second of all they are probably sponsored by the companies.
With iPhone 1 surviving drops was not required because it was in the early years. Now phones develop and dropping is a real issue, because smartphones does not have the same strength as old phones. Phones now a days should survive normal drops, and this test shows that it does (or does not). It helps people with clumsy hands to choose which smartphone they should go for.
Go troll somewhere else.

It's a durability test , it's done for hundreds of thousands of items in many different ways depending on the item in question! Why wouldn't you want the same done for your device? The only thing wrong with this imo is that someone had to go and pay for a phone to do this rather than it coming directly from Sony themselves.
Your car argument is completely invalid, manufacturers are REQUIRED to have the car crash tested before its even allowed to go on sale just as scratch resistant/proof glasses, glass etc etc....

There is a similar post for the AT&T model.
Since I got the unlocked international version through Amazon, I have no warranty support at all here in U.S. This sucks.
If I had known about this problem, I would have never bought this phone. I am really pissed, and will not buy any Samsung phones designed this way.
I've read that Galaxy S3 also has this problem. I imagine that Note 2 will probably be the same.
3 MICRO cracks after 9 months and you say 'do not buy' Seems totally over the top to me.

Wow, so offensive here. No I'm not drunk. Yes I know it's just a device, albeit a poor quality one. it's not a scratch, it's a real crack. A plastic piece separated into two or more pieces. Big difference there. Third, I'm not trolling so please stop trolling.
I paid $600 for a high end device, and I expect a certain level of quality with that price tag. I'm not as rich as you guys so I take care of my gadgets and use it for at least two years. I found mine having this crack after 9 months of careful use, most likely developed over time. It's just now that I found this while cleaning it.
This is not an isolated issue as I can easily find people with same issues. Here are some of the "0.001% of people" complaining about the cracks because the bad build quality/material.

I don't understand why you guys are so defensive about this.
I bought my black note in Feb 2012. I just looked at mine with a magnifying glass, no micro cracks in mine. Little rough on one corner where my Macbook Air fell on it, what a heart attack that was. It just ripped my screen protector. I say just throw a tpu cover on it and forget about it.
White historically has issues. The HTC One X had issues with white and I remember the White HTC Vouge for Verizon had a slight cracking issue. I wonder in order to make it white they have to add too much TiO2 in and less plasticizer making it more brittle. I usually try to avoid white phones.
Just checked my black Note, purchased in November 2011. No cracks at all, and I've dropped it a couple of times including one time when I dropped it face down onto a wet concrete floor (the rough type you find outdoors).

You pretty much have to expect rudeness when posting here. Report them or ignore them.
As for the warranty -- are you sure you don't have one? Check with Amazon. I thought anyone selling in the US has to provide the manufacturer warranty.
Of course they might not cover cracks anyway since it would be hard to prove it wasnt dropped.

I dropped my Note couple of times and i've got at least 20 scratches and guess what?
I don't give a f**k
I buyed a damn phone, he didn't buy me for me to be his slave
Im also proud of the little dents and scratches as long as I caused them and I can get the phone up and working again.
But i can never defend the build quality which is less than satisfactory.
Well, Samsung uses "cheap plastic" but then again look at Apple - most expensive anodized aluminum and 1/3 of iphones 5 came scratched out of box.
What i'm trying to say... im just like you, i treat my gadgets like eggs, but we're talking about things we use all day every day - they will get damaged no matter how you try so its best to get over it. Anyway i think your case is not very common.
about this micro cracking, don't wast your time to send your phone to sammy, i try it ( because me too i don't think sutch craking are normale on a 600€ phone ) and sammy don't take that in warenty, they sad it my fault... crap plastic and crap warenty... it was clear that sammy don't wan't to eard about that lol
I got some cracks and spots on my note to but it is better to have crack in ur phone then have phone in ur crack.
My name is luxor and i am a flash-o-holic and xda is my pusherman.
I checked mine too. I got it in August 2012. Im pretty careful with it also. Got a case for it too. I found one of those cracks on the right side. To be honest..its covered with my case..and its not on my screen...Its not a big deal.

If you don't have this minor issue then great. But to flame someone who does is just pathetic. Thanks for drawing attention to yourselves, I'll now keep an eye out.
I've had my One from Rogers Canada since launch day last Friday.
I've been reading all the issues here about the build qualities of this phone. Mine has a hair gap on the top and the screen also rises slightly at the top edge. I've decided that these were ok and happily used my phone with great care.
No I do not have a case, and neither did I use a case for my previous Samsung Infuse which I used 2 years without dropping it ever.
Today when I turned my One over, the camera glass was cracked! It looks like it got hit somewhere and just gave in. Seems pretty impossible as the rest of the phone is in perfect condition without a single scratch. I keep the phone in my pocket top down, screen facing inwards as I always have in the last few years.
This is so frustrating...I'm afraid if I get an exchange I'll end up with one or more of the several build issues that people have been seeing.

You will get an exchange for a damaged phone that was caused by you (intentionally or unintentionally) ? They should kick you out of the store for asking that or hang up on you if you call to simply get it exchanged without paying for the damage.
People these days .....
Probably wasn't a high impact hit. You probably leaned on the corner of a table or something without realizing it and the pressure from the corner was focused all on that point.
The do not believe that I should be held responsible for this glass. It should point to the fact that the glass might have been fractured slightly so that slight pressure pushed it in from the beginning.
The argument is that I have used this phone for 3 days, taking exceptional care of it, and ended up with a cracked camera glass as opposed of my previous phone, which I used for 2 years and doesn't have a dent in its plastic, let alone cracked glass.
Also, why be so offensive Mr insomnia? Is the fact that the One's build quality is way lower than expected hurting your fanboy heart?
Probably be a great time to buy a case, don't you think?

even if you didn't do this, You're going to have a hell of a time proving it. You very well could have just leaned on it too hard during the day and put pressure on the glass. You need a real friendly service rep to accept the possibility there was a previous fracture

Times have changed, customers expect more because companies are providing more. If I can get better quality service why would I settle for less?
Also, phones shouldn't be designed with cases in mind. I shouldn't need to have a case for my phone to prevent camera glass shattering through normal daily use.
I'm heading back to the store tomorrow and see if I get a nice rep to help me. I'll let you guys know

Thanks! Don't worry though, I'm trying to point out this problem and see if anyone else has similar experiences and we can pinpoint an issue.
I don't game on phones at all, so my device usually stays quite cool. It does warm up a bit after ~10 minutes of screen time but I doubt that could cause any issues.

Just in case this starts happening more, my phone is from batch FA346W
Was raining the whole day today so didn't go to the store, will update once I do
Hm, might have been that the phone got hot enough to make the metal expand faster than the glass....
Not that I doubt you on for your mishap. But knowing Rogers and their ways - my family has been with them since they were still AT&T - you will need hell of a lot of explaining to convince the CSR to make them comply to your exchange request. And online sources won't make much of a statement in their mind. Try play the loyalty card and plead for forgiveness.
As to the picture above, it seems more like an impact hit as the glass seems to fracture in the center of the piece and the cracks don't extend to the edge.
Looks like the phone was abused. Hope you have Insurance because that is definitely not a warranty issue

not meaning to be patronising but the glass is more brittle than the casing with lower impact resistance. so a load that might not necessarily damage the casing will more than likely damage the glass. the chances that the damage is simply contained to the glass region though is odd and one would expect there to be at least some signs of wear/ scratches etc even close to this region as in a typical case.
the main thing is how it happened which appears to be the mystery and the exchange will ultimately be based on this. looking at your picture it looks like an impact dead on the centre of the glass from the outside in. hard to be totally certain considering your pic.
i cant think of a viable scenario though other than something along the lines in my first paragraph considering the metal is in perfect condition.
i would just tell them what you have stated.
Hi OP,
I had exactly the same problem. My unit was only a day old with not a single blemish anywhere on the handset besides the crack on the camera. In fact I'm fairy certain it cracked whilst resting on my table which I found to be very odd. Anyway I did manage to get a replacement with very little hassle.
A note to some other users:
In an incident such as this the consumer is entitled to a refund or replacement or a repair depending how old the item is since purchase. There is even further statutory protection specifically under the sale of goods act. This is an expensive (£500) phone and as such it's quality and durability should be commensurate to the price paid. Thus if the OP can establish the crack happened without having dropped the phone or damaging the phone in some other way then he will be entitled to a replacement which seems likely as there are no other scratches or dents anywhere else on the unit.
I am open to listening to others' opinions but should stress that I am a lawyer and therefore am quite knowledgable on matters such as this.
I made a underwater test with my Xperia Z in the pool and wanted to share with you all.
I can say no problems.
Submerged it deeper than 1m.(So 1m50cm)
You can't press anything on the screen when the phone is underwater.
I made the images pressing the volume rocker(Camera Zoom FX app)
If you want to ask something more about this, don't be shy.I'll answer

I think that the Xperia Z can go under the sea too(salt water) without any problems.
But,washing it after with clean water.

I respectfully and strongly suggest you read with care and attention the manual that came with the XZ ad the threads written on this forum regarding water resistance.
You CANNOT take your mobile into a swimming pool. For the sake of sounding like a parrot I will again write water resistance is far from being water proof PLUS chemicals will affect the water resistance functionality as will temperature and water force regardless of depth. Take a look at some of my more detailed post on this subject, you could save yourself a fortune.
Regards.

Yeah, but you know, the manual is also just a guide.
The guide only gives us the conditions that the phone can/needs to handle in order to meet some certain points. For example to be water/dust resistant/proof.
The manual states that you can hold the phone under water with a depth of 1m. Well I'm 99% sure that if you held the phone 2meters under water nothing spectacular would happen, after a while tho the pressure could become too much for the phone. Same goes for the 30min mark, if you hold the phone 31minutes under water doesn't mean that it will suddenly start to leak.
And yes, I know that we're talking about sea/chemical water here, but we've seen numerous videos of people filming while they are in a pool or in an ocean/sea and nothing happened to the phone. If something might happen then it's their own fault of course.
One last note: Lets say you hold the phone under water (depth 50cm or something) after a few minutes/seconds you take your phone out of the water and you notice that your phone has water damage. So you send the device to be repaired, who do you think has going to pay for the costs of the reparation? It will be you... even though you didn't violate the the rules that were stated in the manual.
@Ryland Johnson
You are right.
I readed it all.It says no swimming pool,no sea water.No submerging,nothing.
I understand what you wanted to say with water resistance.
But I was curious to find out can it go underwater in a swimming pool cause I saw some videos on youtube.

I can see where you are coming from and to an extent agree. Point is in your ultimate paragraph. You write the real world consequences of water ingress in the XZ. It will be the client who pays and why? Because so many of the claims will be due to genuine abuse.
With regard to the chemicals from a swimming pool and salt from the sea, of course the damage done will not be immediately obvious but over time it will be as the seals will become less and less efficient and start to perish. The XZ has an advantage over most other top end similar mobiles in that it can be exposed to a degree of water be that rain or dampness, a degree of dust also BUT the fact is the XZ is still not a commercial mobile and still needs to be treated and respected as a technical device that is still very vulnerable in many areas.
To ME to take the XZ into a shower or swimming pool is absurd? Why would a customer do that in the first place? Who uses a mobile phone IN the shower? Now one takes a shower and leaves the mobile inside the bath room and with wet hands replies that's its real strength. Its not an underwater camera either as we are seeing on this very site.
I guess we will all as customers have to pay our cash and accept the consequences of our actions. It IS a shame some abuse such a wonderful device. I think we are going to read more and more threads regarding owners having water damage with this phone. I still maintain it has been poorly marketed and Sony have given the wrong impression of the XZ's true capabilities.
Kind regards.

I understand, there are many clips now of owners doing the most absurd things possible to the XZ like dropping a lump hammer onto it or dropping it on the floor numerous times to see how many times it can be dropped before it breaks!
As long as we understand some of these clips are taken by rather 'challenged' people then we would be best to avoid copying them .
If you look after your devices they should look after you.
Best advise is to treat the XZ as one would any other device of this nature and not expose it to deliberate situations where it may become damaged. If the XZ comes accidently into contact with some water it should be fine.

This is a debatable section. Why would someone take a phone into the shower? Well lets just leave that in the middle, some people just like to take their phones with them when they take a shower. Of course the phone doesn't get wet in those situations. I know many people that take their phones with them because they can listen to music that way, I never got why people did that, but it's just my point of view. Just like I don't see why people use their phone while they are taking a dump, it's all based on the person.
When you take the phone (non water proof) with you in the shower (Not wetting it of course) it's also bad because of the condense.
Anyways... let me get back to the story....
Why this is a debatable subject: What is the difference when rain falls on the phone and when you take a shower? Not everyone showers with hot water, and I believe that's the only reason why showering with the phone isn't advised. Taking a shower with the phone is the same as rain falling on the phone, they are just drops. 1 from a tap as the source and the other has clouds as the source.
You must have a weak shower. Mine would knock the phone from my hand (if I was silly enough to bring it in there), so a bit more powerful than a few droplets of rain

What makes the difference in water resistance under all circumstances be it a submarine to the XZ is pressure and movement. I have no doubt if the XZ was used in a hurricane with xxx force winds and rain water may enter the phone? The other problem is the soap we use in the shower. This can also degrade the seals on the XZ?
I still maintain the point of all this is ones intent. Accidental water contact to a degree should be fine but to deliberately 'test' the phone is perhaps not a good idea? Its human nature after seeing some of the Sony clips to try it out but......Not for me, I keep my XZ well away from water and think of the water resistance properties as some small form of accident insurance nothing more.

Thinking about this how is it possible? Do you mean actually using the phone while in the shower under running water? The noise from the water would make it difficult to hear or be heard PLUS as soon as the speaker and microphone on the XZ get wet the performance of both are drastically reduced until they are dried out? Did you actually wash your phone, I mean like soap and hot water?

I've spent 8 hours there, i've always kept the phone with me, in everty attraction of the Termal resort, iven in depth till 5 meters,
in the hot waterfalls, in the swimming pool all the time, also in the descending course and in the pool with the mud.
I made several calls around, also playd with Internet to check email, and made several shots (i can post some).
In the evening in rinsed the phone with warm water to clean from mud and from SULFUR (there was sulfuric water).

I've had a pretty bad experience with my Moto G, so thought I'd leave a friendly warning for anyone on the fence about this phone, or even for those who already own one. I ordered one of these from Tesco about a month ago for £129. After 2 weeks of taking perfectly good care of it as I do with all my devices, I had the unfortunate situation occur of it falling, less than 2 feet I might add, from my bed onto the wooden floor. My first thoughts were, damn I should be more careful, but was incredibly shocked to find when picking it up that the screen was completely smashed.
Having owned many smart phones over the years, they have all at one time or another taken a fall far greater than this, yet this is the first time I've ever had a screen smash on me. Still in shock at how it could break so easily I did some research online, got some contact information for Motorola, who replied giving me a number for the repair center. I phoned them and was given a quote of £59. Feeling annoyed at the price, I still decided to send it off, thinking that despite how easily it had broken, it had still fallen and Motorola had only my word that it was less than 2 feet.
A few days later I received the quote through the post, for £71, with a £15 charge if I decided I didn't want to go through with it and wanted the phone back, otherwise they destroy it. This almost felt like holding my phone ransom. Still, none of this is what I'm here to warn you about, the biggest problem I had with this situation, and the reason I'll never purchase a Motorola phone again, is the responses I got when contacting Motorola again. Being unhappy about being charged more than I was originally quoted on the phone plus a ransom fee if i wanted the phone back un-repaired, I e-mail Motorola again to complain, firstly about the cost, secondly about the structural weakness of the phone, that something was clearly wrong for it to smash so easily.
They responded with a very frank reply saying the Moto G is not shock or knock proof and was never advertised as being so, they also claimed the repair price is standard and correct, but didn't bother explaining why I was lied to on the phone. I then replied explaining that I knew full well it wasn't advertised as shock/knock/bullet proof, but that there are basic levels of durability that you expect when buying something, they are not advertised because they are common sense and taken for granted, and the Moto G didn't come close to meeting them, whether I had a dodgy unit or it's the whole range. They replied saying the Moto G is a "budget device", and that it's "not capable of withstanding any knocks whatsoever".
I made it very clear in my messages about how easily the screen shattered, and they are saying they are ok with that, it's expected, and basically saying you get what you pay for, so be warned, you might think you're getting a bargain, as I did, but as Motorola were keen to point out, if you pay a budget price for a phone, expect it to fall apart at the slightest knock.
Your mileage may vary I have dropped my lady moto g a few times so has she our only issue with the phone is our network and at times the radios itself.

My problem isn't necessarily that the phone broke, although obviously that is a problem, the issue is with Motorola itself, fully understanding how easily the screen cracked, treating the situation though it's expected to break, and then using the price to justify how incredibly fragile the build quality was.
I have no problem posting their e-mails here if anyone want to see them in full to see how frank they are about the lack of quality of the Moto G because it's "budget" I was a little shocked by them, so told them if this really is their attitude the public deserves to know, and they welcomed me to share "my opinion" with people, so I'm sure they'd welcome we posting their responses here if anyone is interested.

1) Sometimes it is not the height, but the angle of you dropped the phone. I also had a Nexus One shattering its screen from a minor fall, but my other HTC, LG and Motorola phones survive drops that are much taller. Also Moto G has the latest Gorilla Glass 3; I honestly doubt if it had been any other phone it would fare any better. And if you have a shatter iphone screen, it cost a lot more than 70 quid to fix it.
2) Welcome to real life kid. If I drive a car with problems into a repair shop, I will be charged even without any fixes being performed. It is called labour, shipping and handling, and whatever. Motorola is not under any obligation to mail your phone back for free. Motorola employees who opened your package, logged the item, performed a visual inspection are not volunteers.
3) You are absolutely right to be ticked off when you were quoted £59 and then £71. I would be. You absolutely have the right not to buy any future products. It is called poor customer services on their part.
These are separate issues. But for its price, Moto G has no comparison in terms of build quality.
I would be ticked off, but most servicing costs by the half hour. The design has to take into account some misuse, but it's a grey area and hard to dispute whether the industrial designers made a poor design judgement or your actions were outside the specifications it was designed for. You could always take it to a consumer ombudsman.
Would a screen protector have help in this situation (envisages dropping phone)?

I saw in youtube drop test for MOTO G and yes it broke, the screen was shattered. This happens to every phone, high end phone's screen can be broken as well when you drop it, we need to be careful and protect our phone.
Moto G feels like a sturdy, well built devce. I haven't dropped mine yet. I guess it is the angle at which you dropped the phone which caused the screen to crack or the phone itself was faulty. I still feel it is better built compared to other plasticky samsung phones.
£59 is the ex-VAT price. 20% VAT takes it up to £71. A standard sneaky trick usually carried out by garages on the unsuspecting and totally illegal. Get in contact with trading standards.
In future, whenever getting a quote online or on the phone, check that VAT is included and always take down the name of the person you have been talking with.

I second that, I've lost count of the amount of times I've been happy with customer service to find they told me wrong advice and I couldn't prove who I had spoken to, first thing I do now, write their name + time of call ect.
Also, with my old iPhone 4S I dropped it over 20 times mostly over 3 or 4 foot and only scuffed slightly in the edges, then I dropped it from roughly 2 foot and it completely shattered to bits.
It really is about the angle you drop it at BUT... I took it into the apple shop and they swapped out no questions asked to my surprise, I may have been a lucky one but I was sold on apples customer service then (pity they make such terrible restrictions on there phones, Android FTW).
So yeah, bad on customer service for Motorola, have you searched weather you could fix it your self for cheaper? Screens are usually cheap online and cheap torx set. Failing that, unfortunately recycle online and buy a new one + case?

Think you must have been unlucky and it has fallen at just the wrong angle, havant dropped mine but their are a few youtube vids around where it has survived a reasonable fall.
build quality seems decent for a budget unit.
one of the problems of buying a cheap phone is the cost of repair, its usually not worth doing as its almost the price of just replacing with a new phone.
If your unhappy by the product and the way your issue was dealt with then your quite right to keep away from moto products in the future..

Wow, you must have lots of spare money.
The only problem I've come across so far is that the play store hardly ever works. :/
Falls from greater heights are better because the phone has more time to rotate and land, hopefully, horizontally. Dropping it from a short distance to the ground increases the chance of it falling diagonally.

No provider will EVER replace a phone with a cracked screen. As you say you dropped it...get over it.
I recently purchased a galaxy S5 from the carphonewarehouse in the UK and noticed that my screen was slightly off-centre with a wider black space between the white bezel and the screen on one side and at the top. I went back into store to look at some of their display models and they all seemed to be off-centre either to one side or too high or low. I exchanged it for another device which still is slightly off centre but not as much as the original. Has anybody else noticed this. When I mean off centre I'm talking 0.X mm. Once you notice it though you cannot un-notice it. Its easier to notice when comparing each corner with the black spaces.
The best way to notice is to get a pure white screen up by saving a white image in the gallery.
I'd rather not notice it!

Yep mine has this too, noticed it first day out. Mine has a slightly thicker black boarder on the right side and bottom though...
that doesn't bug me as much as my home button, the silver boarder around it has a small 'gouge' in it where it looks like its slightly peeled up.. It's tiny, but still.. Fit and finish is a little 'rushed' for these phones I feel. but as long as it works, it's good therapy to calm my OCD that everything has to be perfect, so i'll learn to get over it
Yes my first one had a thicker bar at the top and on the left side. This one I have now is only off centre a tad to the right.

I can understand functional defects but this has to be about the absolute worst complaint I have ever heard about a phone. It does not affect your usage AT ALL. I used to work retail and hated to deal with people who would return a laptop because the printed T on the keyboard was slightly off centered. Get a grip on reality. Jeez.

Are any of you mechanical engineers or familiar with production and automated manufacturing equipment. If you were familiar with them, I guarantee you would have a much greater appreciation for engineering put into a device like this. Not only from a design perspective but also from a manufacturing standpoint.

That's your opinion and I appreciate it, but I don't agree with it.

Lol. Dude, you spend good money on something, it's suppose to be right. Something like the screen being dead on center is to be expected. Come on man. It's the same when you buy anything of "quality" So what it doesn't effect performance?
Would you buy a brand new car and be ok with it having a huge scratch down the side of it before you leave the lot? Doesn't effect performance does it?
Didn't think so.

This isn't the equivalent of having a huge scratch on the side of the car. It's the equivalent of complaining that your A/C button has too much play or the logo on the hood is not centered by .003 microns. The type of precision you guys are requesting would fall in the medical devices category which falls in the thousands of dollars because the precision is exact down to the micron. If you are willing to pay $3000 to have a perfectly symmetrical phone, then I say you could complain. Absolutely ridiculous.

Ehh...I disagree. Your phone is with you all day and you probably stare at it more than anything else you own.
I think most here with disagree but hey it's all good!

are you willing to pay $3000 grand for a perfectly symmetrical phone? I'm sure the inexactness of the display falls within quality control parameters. The type of precision you are requesting would cost a lot more than $700. Are you willing to pay more?

$3000 to make a phone symmetrical made me chuckle quite loudly. Brb, my $18 dollar calculator on my desk has a perfect screen, brb, perfect display on my conference phone, brb the knife I am carrying has perfect blade centering, which is tougher to do then make the screen perfectly in the middle of a phone. HAHAHA. Bro..just....bro

Seriously comparing a calculator to a cell phone? I work in manufacturing. There is a reason that $2 worth of metal costs $100 when it is formed into an exact size down to .000001 of an inch. Samsung does not have quality controls or manufacturing processes in place to have this amount of precision. Why? Because it is unnecessary and I doubt they care that one whiner like you complains about the screen being off centered by .00001 inches. Do you think a metal hip replacement, which is only $50 in materials only costs $700 to produce? Since it has to be nearly exact in size, it costs a lot more than that. Stop being ridiculous.

The human eye can't detect .00001 inches lmao. Might see +/- .01 but not past that. From your dialogue, I highly doubt you work in manufacturing.
What do you manufacture? Footlong subs at subway?
Agree to disagree!
I work in medical devices manufacturing. I dare you not to look at the camera lenses also being off centered on the front and the back. Totally ruins the phone right?

You pay lots of money for an expensive car. Do you really think from model to model that every single button, display, crevice, vent, molding has exactly the same spacing? Is the stitching on the upholstery symmetrical? Are all the printed logos exactly in the same spot for every part on the car? By your logic, if I'm buying a BMW that every single tiny little piece of hardware, no matter how insignificant should be absolutely symmetrical and perfect even if it does not affect the use of the car? Seriously. Instead of using ad-hominem attacks, why do you refuse to use logic?

Or look at it from this standpoint. If you're Samsung, would you invest 10 million dollars in a new automated glass digitizer fusing machine that is capable of the precision you guys are demanding? It makes no sense to waste money on something that 1 in 30,000 people will complain about. They could tighten QC and have to rework or scrap thousands of display assemblies because one guy on XDA whined about the tolerance? Sorry. You lose.

No one's going to respond to this bc they know your trolling. 10 million buys a jet. It doesn't take 10 million dollars to make a device to make screens dead center. Solid troll job though lmao. Pro status.
