So is there a hack for getting around the whole exploding problem?
Do you think he rooted his phone? If so was this the first case of the Efuse getting revenge.

He probably had his Droid2 overclocked or heavily modded and it overheated from the strain.

Maybe he didn't read the notes about when u root ur phone the dev is not responsible for ur phone blowing up or killing ur cat or malfunctioning lol... yes i know he prolly wasn't rooted cuz it was only a few days old according to the article or at least so we think... but nonetheless I still immediately thought of every post the devs put up when flashing a custom rom hopefully his hearing is not affected in the long term.

OK, I think that this is fake; or to be more precise; guy is faking.
I think that he did had some sort of accident, and due to his lack of medical care, he decided to blame it on phone;
1. only thing that can explode inside mobile phone, is battery. So if she blow up, then there will be more damage on back of phone, and less on front side.
When battery blows up, it makes a lot of heat, so there will be heat marks on phone.
And of course; guy will have his hand injured, not head (or there will be at least some injury to hand)
2. look at this picture:
you can see that part of housing where is hole for speaker is clearly dented inwards (biggest red arrow)? That cracked screen was result of phone being hit by something, not exploding.
3. if there was a explosion, there will be parts of screen missing due to outwards thrust of explosion and that parts will produce injury on guys ear, as he did have his ear injured, but as I can see, all peaces of glass are still holding on, and non is missing, so question is; what have injured his ear??
4. blood on phone looks like it was dropping on to phone (smaller arrows); it's not looking like a splash that will be result of some explosion and spray of blood. And it surly didn't happened afterwards, because guy has mentioned that he notice blood pouring down his neck, and If you had you phone exploding in to your face, you will drop it as far away ass possible; you won't hold it next to your head, so that it can get bloody.
And just to make it clear; this is only mine opinion, based on images and video found on internet, and as that, I can be totally wrong; only legit thing that will make this clear is official investigation.
And something else, not related to that guy and his phone:
4 stitches and a cat scan 4000$ ?!?!?!?! WTF?! Do you in US have golden threads for stitching, and do you get Tai massage while getting cat scan (or even something more)?! That's crazy!!

Yeah; just take a look what battery did to iPhone:
If that happened, then cut on that guys ear would be least of his problems; I have found couple images of some unfortunate peoples hand after that kind of incident, but I won't post them here, because images are to graphic.

They say that it was not a battery, but it was a pressure; they say that he has probably squash phone to hard, and screen broke (and it looks like that, especially if you take in consideration image from start of this post).
Same thing may happened to this guy with Motorola; he was talking to someone on phone, get upset, and squash phone to hard (it's possible if you are really pissed of), and screen broke, and cut his ear. If that's a case, then it's his own fault, and he has no right to ask for compensation from Motorola (but I think that they will pay, just to keep him quiet).....
But I can't take my eyes from that image of phones screen; it totally looks like screen was hit with something.
And one more thing that bother me; i think that was totally lame to play "kids" card by guys wife. It's not like all phones will suddenly start to explode and kill kids. Man, I hate this paranoia that's got in to people these days.

This idiot just dropped his phone and didn't have insurance or something. This pic looks exactly like my phone did when I dropped it. I don't believe his phone "exploded" for a minute.

Fascinating, isn't it? Just be thankful your country actually puts its citizens' health before that of corporate profit margins.
And yeah, I think you're onto something... the story doesn't really make much sense.

I agree 100% that that is an impact to the front of the phone. Even if the battery melted down or popped it would not take out the speaker. This is an a$$#ole lookin for a paycheck.

So if that phone is still working, how can he then explode with enough power to injure this guy, but still be working after that???
So, that from quote in beginning of this post makes a lot of sense; he broke glass on phone by some accident, and while using still functional phone, he cut him self on broken glass.

I think there are more factors pointing towards fraud than legitimacy... first off nothing in that phone is powerful enough to exert that kind of force other than the battery which we all know if exploded the phone would not look that intact, it would not be functioning as flashing status light indicated in video, and he would prolly not have hearing on the affected ear. Two the fact that he doesnt have insurance but has a droid 2 seems to be backwards priorities but to each his own... this looks like simple owner negligence nd he wants motorola to give him a free droid nd pay for his self inflicted injuries.

Yeah, exactly; and also, ear is full of small vessels, so even minor injury to ear can look messy; and 4 stitches indicate small cut; I has once one injury as a kid, where I got cut in ridge between my eyes (top of nose) and it was bit more then 1cm long (let's say half inch), and I got 6 stitches. And all cuts on face are bloody; that cut that I had, make me lost around 1 liter of blood before I manage to stop it, and till time I got to hospital, I was starting to faint. There they got me couple units of blood and stitch me up, and I was fine.
So, if I had to bet on more likely scenario; I would bet on cut by previously broken glass on phone.

Well, it's not all great here eider; but at least, first thing that passes through you mind when you get injured is not "omg, how much will that cost me?!" And people don't do crazy stunts while trying to come up with money for health bill.

So, in mine opinion, there are 4 possible scenarios:
1. Some fault in phones glass, that made it crack under normal circumstances and normal operational conditions.
2. User induced stress on phones glass that made it crack
3. Accident not related to phone, and then phone was intentionality damaged to make it look like a phone is cause of that injury.
4. Phone damaged in unrelated incident, but then damaged glass on phone induces injury to guys ear.

As the guy apparenly did not have medical insurance and obviously the hospital came after for payment, he made up the 'explosion' story to try put it on Motorola's bill. How 'shallow' story that is.
I guess explosions are "the fruit phone" specialty /end sarcasm/

Cracked S2 screen from a short drop. Depressed.

A really stupid story, and I am sure not that uncommon either. Was in the college cubicle this morning (adult college, English ex-pat learning Finnish) and some bright spark had set the automatic lights at something like 2-3 minutes. Cue darkness and yours truly having the bright idea (no joke intended) of grabbing my phone and using my bright-as-the-sun SAMOLED+ screen to regain composure in pitch darkness and reactivate the lights.
I accidentally dropped the phone from knee height (please, imagination not necessary) onto the tiled floor leaving me with a dim partial screen lightup and many many problems, especially as I use my phone heavily to help with my language course. AAAAAAGGG.
Well, this is definitely going to be a lesson to anyone who doesn't think it will happen to them (one more educated user down, many to go) and haven't invested in a bumper case or at least a silicone cover. The only recourse I am aware of is the screens from aliexpress.com which both cost approximately a 1/4 of what the phone is worth....unless anybody has any better sources they can share?
Before I debase myself further, I have to mention that I am a 35-yr old who moved country with his family and is currently on a government-sponsored language integration course, and is therefore on the equivalent of unemployment-level finances until at least August 2012 with books to buy and all that depressing stuff. My phone is my only real luxury at the moment (cry cry, etc) and has become a lifeline helping me improve my language skills to become employable again in a very skill-oriented country. In that respect it is more than worth its (albeit svelte) weight in gold to me.
Despite me not being an existing contributor here as such, not having accrued reputation and therefore not being seen as an investment, I plan to provide a screen replacement tutorial (laced with comments like "BUY A BUMPER CASE!") when I can afford to buy a new screen. In that respect, I have set up a "Donate To Me" button to the left in my profile chit:

Many sympathies. And good luck learning Finnish, it's horribly tough. I gave up and learnerd Swedish instead from my Finnish ex - helluva lot easier.

@OneZeoN - I've never actually used a case before, and it is only recently (well, July 2010) when I bought my first large format screen phone. Before then They were semi-bricks like my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music which you'd need to stab with an icepick to damage. My original Galaxy S never failed either. I've always been very careful (or lucky).
I guess I fell for the svelte design and feather weight of the S2. It's a shame that form is taking more precedence over function in some kind of counter-productive race on thinnest-flattest-lightest-shiniest, as the walls of material physics are being hit hard. Shock-absorbancy doesn't marry well with thin and stiff as my S2 proves.
I'm going over whether to run a silicone skin or a proper bumper case. Given that every Euro counts at the moment (upcoming school books and my wife needs a nurse uniform "for school", woof) I'm a little worried that silicone might not provide the protection and assurance an expensive phone like an S2 really needs. As you say, more than likely better than no protection!
@B3311 - Finnish is unfeasibly hard. That said, it is very logical like German is. You can read Finnish straight from the page and even if you don't know the words or the sense of what you are reading, everything can be vocalised. The grammar is the problem, cramming that system into your head and then realising you haven't had time to absorb any vocab so you have nothing useful to say. I keep telling myself that two years of intensive language courses will pay off for the rest of my life. Swedish is easy, yes.

Does it affect the way your screen renders things or is it only on the gorilla glass?
My friend dropped his belt buckle on his LG Optimus 2X and cracked his gorilla glass but it still turns on and renders without problems. He sent it back to LG and got a replacement (only the glass) for $5 + $10 service fee.

If you find a source for the bits, I would be pleased to hear about it.
My buddy's son did the same thing, but the display underneath is OK, but the glass is cracked. He now has my spare gel case, but needs to find a new glass.
Someone else, with an iPhone 4, told me his agent charged £180 to replace the glass when he did it.

The screen, glass and bezel seem to comprise one unit. I haven't taken my S2 apart any further than the rear plastic cover and bezel as I only really want to try this once I get around to replacing the screen for real. It seems it will be a "full body transplant" of all components and boards from the old damaged (well, killed) screen straight across to the new unit.

Most of this evening will be spent looking for sources. Amazon and "Ali Express" seem like the most likely sources, however I haven't even found suggestions here really. Has nobody broken their S2 yet, unlike me?

I sympathise with the OP. I cracked the glass to the left of the home screen button, it shattered in an area 6 x 10 mm and propogated from the bottom left hand corner, with 4 long cracks running into the main screen area. Fortunatly for me the it still works and the long cracks are very fine and not too distracting.
It was in my pocket when it happen and i don't recall bashing into anything. I assume it was a glancing blow from the handle of a cupboard door which matches the hight where my phone would sit in my pocket. When I first pull it out I thought I had my friends phone (HTC Touch HD2 since he has cracks from where it fell from his bike) gutted when I realised what had occurred.
I have looked up service centres in the uk and was sent to CPW in Bristol, spoke to "the Tech Guy" they quote £150, 2 days lead on the part (incidental anecdote: and their engineer isnt in because he has a bad back. The guy told me had had a similar crack in his sgs2.) Have found others offering fitting for £125 but would much prefer the recommendation of a stranger on a website i lurk in . I have put a cheap screen protector on top so not to loose further glass.

I believe I will need to inspect the screen assembly when it arrives, as this may not involve a "full body" transplant and might just require the Gorilla glass debonding from the bezel rather than a full disassemble. I'm not sure which of these I actually prefer however...
@s1lvf1sh - those propogating cracks must be a complete nightmare as any pressure will surely apply stress along them! I don't know whether the glass can be replaced on its own as it seems to be that it is bonded to the SAMOLED itself. Perhaps this goes some way as to explaining the high cost of glass replacement services? I hope to see Samsung using flexible AMOLEDs in the next couple of years, as they appear to be all but immune to convential damage.

Pulled the trigger on a new SAMOLED screen from a UK reseller for a reasonable price. Should arrive next week, so unless I get some good time during the day that week I will be documenting the replacement process next Saturday and uploading the same or the next day or thereabouts.

I'm no expert here..... but on my O2 mini I had many a year ago I had the screen go garbled like that after i dropped it. Now I understand that this phone is a amoled where my O2 was an lcd but I found the problem with the O2 was the flat cable connection for the screen to the motherboard....
Just a thought and doubt your problem is the same but you have to pull the phone apart anyway so worth a check.

It's unlikely that I am the first person with a broken S2 LCD/LED given the number of them up for sale out there. In that respect any fatal design flaws should have been reported by now, so I doubt it will be a similar problem however I never rule anything out until I have appropriate evidence so I will definitely examine the damaged screen and trace the source of the crack back through to the initial shock transmission point in the (relatively) inelastic case.
In other news, I am heavily tempted to buy an aluminium Taurus case.

don't buy the story. My SG2 fell down 3times. One time even from more than 2.5 meters hight. No impact on any function so far.

Story? It's far from being a story at this end of the Internet! I'm stuck with "using" a GT-S3370E whilst I've been rejigging money to cover this repair and have discovered the downside of syncing all your contacts with your Google account....when you move backwards to an older phone that can't do that, you find that you have no numbers on your phone. Bleh.

No scratches in mine. I suppose that just makes it worse, that I wrote off a pristine Gorilla Glass screen by cracking the LED underneath. I hated the scratch in my original S. 3mm right down in the middle, two-thirds down. Grr.
Considering a Zonus leather wallet case instead of a bumper. Not a fan of the portrait ones though. A little too Star Trek communicator for my liking....reminds me of Ace Ventura too....

Love it.
I love all the Samsung name calling that's going on in the comments of the article in the OP.
So, lets look at this, 9 million devices pre-ordered, god only knows how many others sold, already. 1 in 9 million catches fire and melts, and all of a sudden Samsung has gone completely wrong?
I wish people would grow up. As for the one guy with a One X, I just like a comment I read here on XDA somewhere that people justify to themselves their purchase by making out they got the best device for one reason or another.
All I can say is, when it comes from an S3 owner, it's true, we really do have the best consumer mobile device on the planet xD

If you bothered looking up the other discussion thread and the original photos of the damaged phone, you'd soon see that the battery is one of the few components it could NOT have been.

i hope that fake picture does work it's magic like it was supposed to.
so guys, please watch those pictures closely. it' is claimed that the phone melted by itself, right ? so this means the heat source has to be inside of the phone. if you burn something from the outside with a lighter for example you will get black marks on the item where you hold the lighter to and not so dark black marks on the areas around it.
so when this phone did melt because of an very high internal heat source, why is the most black part of the phone on the outside and the less black marks further away from the phones border?
in addition to that just look at a picture of the disassembly of the phone and where the heat source would have needed to be, if it melted because of inner parts of the phone. (keep in mind it's still BS because the marks that are visible on the phone point to someone using external heat.)
at the point of the black marks is only a screw hole (left to the microusb port), so do you really think the holding of a screw or a screw itself would magically heaten up to such an extent?
if you check the other ifixit-teardown pictures you clearly see that apart from that metallic holding for a screw there is not even a chip where the supposed melt down occured. surely the creater of this fake picture wants to make you believe that the empty space did heat up so much that it melted, lol
i don't want to point fingers here, but it is extremely telling how much energy some people spend just to convince others that the galaxy s3 is crap and their phone (most of the cases the one x) is better. there is no reasonable explanation for those people other than psychological deficit which leads them to spend unusual amounts of energy to worsen samsungs reputation or justify their own choice of another phone. a healthy human being would just not care about other phones. if you are satisfied with your own decision you are at ease and would not even try to point fingers at others and how the others are (allegedly) worse.
the fact that samsung said "it nows of that case" is the standard call center reply, to let the customers think that "everything is in check". just think what the feel of the customer was, when the support tells him "hey, we never heard of such a thing and have no clue what to do".

If you actually check iFixit yourself as you suggested and check the back of the board at the same position you will notice that the bottom capacitive microphone is in exactly that position, and since it is a type of capacitor, it can blow up like that. Stop with your consipiracy bull****, malfunctions happen and this is just another of them, although a weird one. It had nothing to do with the battery or any other of the more complex components.

Defect - Plastic around the screen cracking with light use.

I was cleaning my 9 months old Galaxy Note today, and noticed micro fine cracks, (THREE OF THEM!!) around the plastic that is surrounding the screen. I never dropped it or handled it rough. It was always in a protective case, with a screen protector.

There is a similar post for the AT&T model.
Since I got the unlocked international version through Amazon, I have no warranty support at all here in U.S. This sucks.
If I had known about this problem, I would have never bought this phone. I am really pissed, and will not buy any Samsung phones designed this way.
I've read that Galaxy S3 also has this problem. I imagine that Note 2 will probably be the same.

Maybe it is acceptable for some people... I would definitely not accept anything like this happen to my gadgets. Heck, there shouldn't be any micro cracks even after 2 years. All my gadgets looks new after years. That's how much I'm careful with these things.

You got three, that's THREE tiny cracks on your phone and you're freaking out after 9 months? Also, i have never heard of this before, so this is clearly an isolated incident. I have no cracks and i bet 99.999% of people out there doesn't have it either. Go home son, you're drunk.

Wow, so offensive here. No I'm not drunk. Yes I know it's just a device, albeit a poor quality one. it's not a scratch, it's a real crack. A plastic piece separated into two or more pieces. Big difference there. Third, I'm not trolling so please stop trolling.
I paid $600 for a high end device, and I expect a certain level of quality with that price tag. I'm not as rich as you guys so I take care of my gadgets and use it for at least two years. I found mine having this crack after 9 months of careful use, most likely developed over time. It's just now that I found this while cleaning it.
This is not an isolated issue as I can easily find people with same issues. Here are some of the "0.001% of people" complaining about the cracks because the bad build quality/material.

I don't understand why you guys are so defensive about this.

I bought my black note in Feb 2012. I just looked at mine with a magnifying glass, no micro cracks in mine. Little rough on one corner where my Macbook Air fell on it, what a heart attack that was. It just ripped my screen protector. I say just throw a tpu cover on it and forget about it.
White historically has issues. The HTC One X had issues with white and I remember the White HTC Vouge for Verizon had a slight cracking issue. I wonder in order to make it white they have to add too much TiO2 in and less plasticizer making it more brittle. I usually try to avoid white phones.

Just checked my black Note, purchased in November 2011. No cracks at all, and I've dropped it a couple of times including one time when I dropped it face down onto a wet concrete floor (the rough type you find outdoors).

As for the warranty -- are you sure you don't have one? Check with Amazon. I thought anyone selling in the US has to provide the manufacturer warranty.
Of course they might not cover cracks anyway since it would be hard to prove it wasnt dropped.

Im also proud of the little dents and scratches as long as I caused them and I can get the phone up and working again.
But i can never defend the build quality which is less than satisfactory.

Well, Samsung uses "cheap plastic" but then again look at Apple - most expensive anodized aluminum and 1/3 of iphones 5 came scratched out of box.
What i'm trying to say... im just like you, i treat my gadgets like eggs, but we're talking about things we use all day every day - they will get damaged no matter how you try so its best to get over it. Anyway i think your case is not very common.

about this micro cracking, don't wast your time to send your phone to sammy, i try it ( because me too i don't think sutch craking are normale on a 600€ phone ) and sammy don't take that in warenty, they sad it my fault... crap plastic and crap warenty... it was clear that sammy don't wan't to eard about that lol

I got some cracks and spots on my note to but it is better to have crack in ur phone then have phone in ur crack.

I checked mine too. I got it in August 2012. Im pretty careful with it also. Got a case for it too. I found one of those cracks on the right side. To be honest..its covered with my case..and its not on my screen...Its not a big deal.

I've got a black note and I've dropped it a couple of times, no cracks.
My Mrs has a white note and hers does have cracks the same as the OP, but then she does have Teflon hands hahaha

WARNING! Read before considering a Moto G

I've had a pretty bad experience with my Moto G, so thought I'd leave a friendly warning for anyone on the fence about this phone, or even for those who already own one. I ordered one of these from Tesco about a month ago for £129. After 2 weeks of taking perfectly good care of it as I do with all my devices, I had the unfortunate situation occur of it falling, less than 2 feet I might add, from my bed onto the wooden floor. My first thoughts were, damn I should be more careful, but was incredibly shocked to find when picking it up that the screen was completely smashed.
Having owned many smart phones over the years, they have all at one time or another taken a fall far greater than this, yet this is the first time I've ever had a screen smash on me. Still in shock at how it could break so easily I did some research online, got some contact information for Motorola, who replied giving me a number for the repair center. I phoned them and was given a quote of £59. Feeling annoyed at the price, I still decided to send it off, thinking that despite how easily it had broken, it had still fallen and Motorola had only my word that it was less than 2 feet.
A few days later I received the quote through the post, for £71, with a £15 charge if I decided I didn't want to go through with it and wanted the phone back, otherwise they destroy it. This almost felt like holding my phone ransom. Still, none of this is what I'm here to warn you about, the biggest problem I had with this situation, and the reason I'll never purchase a Motorola phone again, is the responses I got when contacting Motorola again. Being unhappy about being charged more than I was originally quoted on the phone plus a ransom fee if i wanted the phone back un-repaired, I e-mail Motorola again to complain, firstly about the cost, secondly about the structural weakness of the phone, that something was clearly wrong for it to smash so easily.
They responded with a very frank reply saying the Moto G is not shock or knock proof and was never advertised as being so, they also claimed the repair price is standard and correct, but didn't bother explaining why I was lied to on the phone. I then replied explaining that I knew full well it wasn't advertised as shock/knock/bullet proof, but that there are basic levels of durability that you expect when buying something, they are not advertised because they are common sense and taken for granted, and the Moto G didn't come close to meeting them, whether I had a dodgy unit or it's the whole range. They replied saying the Moto G is a "budget device", and that it's "not capable of withstanding any knocks whatsoever".
I made it very clear in my messages about how easily the screen shattered, and they are saying they are ok with that, it's expected, and basically saying you get what you pay for, so be warned, you might think you're getting a bargain, as I did, but as Motorola were keen to point out, if you pay a budget price for a phone, expect it to fall apart at the slightest knock.

Your mileage may vary I have dropped my lady moto g a few times so has she our only issue with the phone is our network and at times the radios itself.

My problem isn't necessarily that the phone broke, although obviously that is a problem, the issue is with Motorola itself, fully understanding how easily the screen cracked, treating the situation though it's expected to break, and then using the price to justify how incredibly fragile the build quality was.
I have no problem posting their e-mails here if anyone want to see them in full to see how frank they are about the lack of quality of the Moto G because it's "budget" I was a little shocked by them, so told them if this really is their attitude the public deserves to know, and they welcomed me to share "my opinion" with people, so I'm sure they'd welcome we posting their responses here if anyone is interested.

Again mileage may vary depending on what it may be, something their fault covered by warranty something your fault its just that. I get they lied to you that was wrong to do followed by not telling you why they lied it could be you got someone new or someone covering their rear ends

1) Sometimes it is not the height, but the angle of you dropped the phone. I also had a Nexus One shattering its screen from a minor fall, but my other HTC, LG and Motorola phones survive drops that are much taller. Also Moto G has the latest Gorilla Glass 3; I honestly doubt if it had been any other phone it would fare any better. And if you have a shatter iphone screen, it cost a lot more than 70 quid to fix it.
2) Welcome to real life kid. If I drive a car with problems into a repair shop, I will be charged even without any fixes being performed. It is called labour, shipping and handling, and whatever. Motorola is not under any obligation to mail your phone back for free. Motorola employees who opened your package, logged the item, performed a visual inspection are not volunteers.
3) You are absolutely right to be ticked off when you were quoted £59 and then £71. I would be. You absolutely have the right not to buy any future products. It is called poor customer services on their part.
These are separate issues. But for its price, Moto G has no comparison in terms of build quality.

I would be ticked off, but most servicing costs by the half hour. The design has to take into account some misuse, but it's a grey area and hard to dispute whether the industrial designers made a poor design judgement or your actions were outside the specifications it was designed for. You could always take it to a consumer ombudsman.
Would a screen protector have help in this situation (envisages dropping phone)?

I'm thinking that it's a must have...

I saw in youtube drop test for MOTO G and yes it broke, the screen was shattered. This happens to every phone, high end phone's screen can be broken as well when you drop it, we need to be careful and protect our phone.

Moto G feels like a sturdy, well built devce. I haven't dropped mine yet. I guess it is the angle at which you dropped the phone which caused the screen to crack or the phone itself was faulty. I still feel it is better built compared to other plasticky samsung phones.

£59 is the ex-VAT price. 20% VAT takes it up to £71. A standard sneaky trick usually carried out by garages on the unsuspecting and totally illegal. Get in contact with trading standards.
In future, whenever getting a quote online or on the phone, check that VAT is included and always take down the name of the person you have been talking with.

I second that, I've lost count of the amount of times I've been happy with customer service to find they told me wrong advice and I couldn't prove who I had spoken to, first thing I do now, write their name + time of call ect.
Also, with my old iPhone 4S I dropped it over 20 times mostly over 3 or 4 foot and only scuffed slightly in the edges, then I dropped it from roughly 2 foot and it completely shattered to bits.
It really is about the angle you drop it at BUT... I took it into the apple shop and they swapped out no questions asked to my surprise, I may have been a lucky one but I was sold on apples customer service then (pity they make such terrible restrictions on there phones, Android FTW).
So yeah, bad on customer service for Motorola, have you searched weather you could fix it your self for cheaper? Screens are usually cheap online and cheap torx set. Failing that, unfortunately recycle online and buy a new one + case?

Think you must have been unlucky and it has fallen at just the wrong angle,havant dropped mine but their are a few youtube vids around where it has survived a reasonable fall.
build quality seems decent for a budget unit.
one of the problems of buying a cheap phone is the cost of repair, its usually not worth doing as its almost the price of just replacing with a new phone.
If your unhappy by the product and the way your issue was dealt with then your quite right to keep away from moto products in the future..

Wow, you must have lots of spare money.

The only problem I've come across so far is that the play store hardly ever works. :/

Falls from greater heights are better because the phone has more time to rotate and land, hopefully, horizontally. Dropping it from a short distance to the ground increases the chance of it falling diagonally.

Ottorbox provides good protection but adds too much bulk to the phone. I have an amzer tpu case on my moto g.
