NFC broken with back replacement - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
So I recently changed my black nexus 4 into a white nexus 4 using an oem (yeah right) back. I also took the opportunity to replace my aging battery with another oem (yeah, I know) replacement.
The backing has all the electronics for nfc and Qi charging on it, and the Qi works great. But NFC is completely shot, nothing is working. So, besides the electronics on the back being shot, are there any other things it could be? Does the battery have any nfc importance?

you can put back black cover to test NFC - then you will know where fault is - white cover (nfc antenna coil broken) or phone (maybe nfc connector pads) ...

Yup, figured that would be the next step, I just dread removing the white cover. When I took off the black one I snapped the little plastic around the volume rocker.....

Nexus 4 Back plate Replacement

OK, I have spent the last 45 minutes on XDA looking for some insight on the proper back glass replacement for my brother's Nexus 4. Low and behold, my family's first Nexus 4 back glass broke (3 N4's) and I am looking for the easiest possible replacement. Hopefully one with the inductive coil and NFC in place. I found one site that looks like they have the whole shebang. I don't want only the glass back. I have included a thumbnail of the site's Nexus 4 backplate, is this one with everything intact (charging coil, NFC)? Thanks for everyone's help. BTW the price isn't to bad, $53 before shipping. I have seen the "glass only" on e-bay for $25, so I am assuming the price and its statement mean they don't include what I need.
I have a spare back plate and judging from that picture, yes it does appear to have the charging coil and other antenna connectors in place already.
What site did you find it on?

Thank you. Here is the link I found. http://www.ptsupermarket.com/product_info.php?language=en&currency=USD&products_id=3490
BOGUS!!!!
I just received my replacement back from ptsupermarket.com and it is a fake and incomplete back. Their add said gorrila glass and in working order, it has no NFC chip and also no wireless pad for charging. I am so angry. $62 and a month later this site is a BS site. It's like a $5 China imposter back plastic plate!!!!
This is where I ordered mine from mate, its he new version with nubs too. Comes with NFC and wireless charging all ready to go. Came from Portugal in 2 days to the UK.

[Q] Nexus 4 Screen Problem

I recently broke the screen (glass and lcd).
I bought a new, replaced, and now when I switch on a cell phone, the screen does not work (just black screen), but touches react.
Is dead or has a chance? some advice? anything? I'm desperate.
Try taking phone apart again and make sure the components are attached right and clipped down securely. I'd advice to test it before putting it back together

Agreed. Sounds like a loose connector to me. I would recommend reseating the connectors (you should feel them gently lock into place). If that still doesn't work, I'd consider evaluating whether the connector is actually damaged or if your screen is DOA.

Red Screen after LDC Replacement

I have an original Nexus 7 bought right when it came out and have not had any issues with it. Recently the glass was cracked so I purchased a touch screen and digitizer and decided to replace it myself.
Things went well , only had a little difficulty separating the bezel adhesive but did get it off successfully. Connected everything and reassembled easily but when powering on the screen is all red background instead of black. Can see the Google logo in white clearly and the boot animation but everything that should be black is red. I rechecked all the ribbon cables and everything is secure.
Any ideas as to what the problem may be now? Could it be the small LCD to motherboard cable was damaged during removal and needs replaced?
Thanks for any help.

Well I just ordered a new LCD to motherboard ribbon cable off eBay for $8. I'll report back of that fixed it or not. If not time to save up for a new one I suppose.

I am happy to report that replacing the LCD to motherboard ribbon cable solved my issue. Hopefully someone else will find use of this one day.

Does the 6P have a magnetic back just like the Nexus 5?

One of the best hidden features of the Nexus 5...
no need since there's no wireless charging
It's just so nice not needing to put a case or piece of metal on the back of the phone to use magnetic phone holders while driving....
Exactly what I'm doing with my Nexus 5 right now... does anyone has the answer?
Highly doubt it. The reason why it existed in the n5 was for the magnetic wireless charger. Without that, there was no reason for it

bumping this up, any new info?
It's possible there's enough ferromagnetic metal on the phone for those to still hold it.
Just tried it.
It is not magnetic.
any pnone with a steel back plate would be held by a magnet, really has nothing to do with the wireless charging. i have other phones with a plastic back that wireless charge.
this phone wont hold to a magnet because the back is aluminum, and aluminum is not magnetic.
A 5.7-inch, high-resolution WQHD AMOLED display and front-facing stereo speakers — all housed in a contoured aluminum body.

I believe the Nexus 5 only had 4 steel plates at the back and no magnets. The magnets were in the wireless charging pad which would hold on the the phone. Nexus 6p will not stick unfortunately.

Cannot find NFC Coil replacement part on the market

I was fixing my N6p battery cover, by my bad luck i damaged the nfc coil.
Now it is dead, and looking for a new one, I seem not to be able to find it anywhere.
Even with the full battery cover. Does anybody replaced their coil?

The replacement covers on parts4repair.com (China) show the NFC sticker with the cover. I'd verify that with them before ordering though.
Edit- Just noticed that only the graphite cover shows the NFC sticker pictured. Weird.

Leys see their reply, if they do so.
But only Graphite has the sticked nfc coil. Pity a part lile this is nowhere in the market.

They said, the Graphite one comes with NFC coil, ordered, waiting, will confirm upon arrival.
NFC Coil is not coming with this backcover, the photo is "wrong" as the factory doesn't produce it with coil anymore.
That was their final answer
So I am now stuck with a dead NFC Coil.
Anybody ever looked for this? maybe if I find a service point of Huawei, will be able to find the part? (suggestions?)
What I did, is to use the heat gun to remove the NFC antenna from the old cover, and paste it into the new one.
I was disappointed to see that the back cover wasn't complete just before putting it. (I was trying to fix the power button. So I had 2 options, swap the power buttons or swap the nfc antenna and use the new shining back cover, I chose the second option and worked great so far.... I'm not an NFC user but I will start using Android Pay in a few weeks maybe...so I put one travel card and got some info like "mirafare app" blablabla so NFC seems to be working after the movement. ).
Yeah, let me know if anyone finds the NFC replacement. I had to reuse the old one and I didn't do a good job of removing it. Still works but my OCD kicks in just thinking about what's on the other side of the cover.

I purchased this rear housing http://www.ebay.com/itm/172144241461
It came with the NFC chip already attached. I was pretty happy, it took me forever to find one.
