Red Screen after LDC Replacement - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an original Nexus 7 bought right when it came out and have not had any issues with it. Recently the glass was cracked so I purchased a touch screen and digitizer and decided to replace it myself.
Things went well , only had a little difficulty separating the bezel adhesive but did get it off successfully. Connected everything and reassembled easily but when powering on the screen is all red background instead of black. Can see the Google logo in white clearly and the boot animation but everything that should be black is red. I rechecked all the ribbon cables and everything is secure.
Any ideas as to what the problem may be now? Could it be the small LCD to motherboard cable was damaged during removal and needs replaced?
Thanks for any help.

Well I just ordered a new LCD to motherboard ribbon cable off eBay for $8. I'll report back of that fixed it or not. If not time to save up for a new one I suppose.

I am happy to report that replacing the LCD to motherboard ribbon cable solved my issue. Hopefully someone else will find use of this one day.

Obviously it wasnt put back together correctly, most likely the ribbon cable is either loose or broken.
LCD ribbon cable is either not pluged in fully or the cable is ripped

Ribbon wire connector and funky screen discoloration?

My G2 has been out of commission for a while now, it had been getting this green/red screen discoloration and eventually went black and wouldn't display anything until just today. I played around with the ribbon connector a bit and got it to display again. My question is if I were to open up my G2 and connect the ribbon better or replace it entirely, would it be possible to breathe new life into this old phone? Answers much appreciated.

if it is exactly as you said, then it might justmean that the ribbon that connects the display to the board probably came loose... or is busted.. so replacing that ribbon might do it.

Screen Problem

Recently the digitizer gave up the ghost and cracked into a million pieces after being dropped. I ordered a replacement which arrived today and proceeded to follow the instructions on youtube on diassembly and installation. After going through erverything and putting the phone back together the phones LCD now displays a screwed up image. I took everything apart and checked all the connections and everything seems to be fine. Has anyone else had this problem, did I mess up my LCD somehow?
It's either defective or has a bad connection/ribbon cable most likely.

[Q] Replacing Nexus 4 digitizer (but not screen)?

I got my Nexus 4 (very) wet, and it destroyed the battery. I've replaced the battery, and almost everything is fine, but the bottom part of the screen doesn't register touches. I now can't hit back/home!
Is it possible to replace the digitizer without replacing the whole LCD and glass? The LCD and the glass are absolutely fine, and really quite expensive, so it would be a bit silly to chuck them away.
No, the digitizer and the screen are connected (might even be the same thing) so you would have to buy all of it, sorry

For this model (and for 99% other) LCD screen and digitizer is piece - let's say - a hamburger. It can be changed only as one piece.
AND - if phone was wet You can`t know for sure that digitizer is that part that must be replaced. Maybe there is problem on motherboard that causes this.

[Q] Nexus 4 Screen Problem

I recently broke the screen (glass and lcd).
I bought a new, replaced, and now when I switch on a cell phone, the screen does not work (just black screen), but touches react.
Is dead or has a chance? some advice? anything? I'm desperate.
Try taking phone apart again and make sure the components are attached right and clipped down securely. I'd advice to test it before putting it back together

Agreed. Sounds like a loose connector to me. I would recommend reseating the connectors (you should feel them gently lock into place). If that still doesn't work, I'd consider evaluating whether the connector is actually damaged or if your screen is DOA.
