Yes, the top left corner is squeaking when I speak on the phone. Doesn't bother me too much though.

Maybe this is part of the build? If others are experiencing it I wouldn't worry about it.
are you in UK? Do they cross ship? Will they pay for return shipping?

Mine squeaks ever so slightly at the top part if pressed too. It doesn't really bother me. I have a squeaky Thinkpad x220 that nonetheless is as strong as a tank. You can always find faults on these products, I have a feeling if I get mine exchanged for such a small thing I'll end up with a new device with something else to be bothered about.

You'll kick yourself if the replacement comes back with an even worse problem. Like dead pixels/bad screen tint.
Not in HK,,, i went to the store and open at least 2 units to choose....and of course full test ...
Got it replaced ...with aperfect one. but it probably squake again after a while....after some stress on my pants...hehehe
Anyone experience otherwise?

Just noticed bezel near volume rocker is squeaking, n I hate it.
Mines squeaks too, but it's more of the back cover than the bezel.
Might be the way the cover is designed, after a few openings, it deforms slightly?

Guy the top bezel is squeaking because of that feature in the movement settings.. The double tap on the top of the phone makes you come back at the top of the list of your contacts for example.
Try to enable that feature and press two times the bezel that is squeaking.
It wasn't like this in my gs3,but it's more sensitive now.
But this squeaking is a physicsl defect...???

I completely agree. There is no such thing as a perfect device. Everything has an error here or there. So if there is no real problem then be happy I'd exchange mine for problems with the screen or camera. Buttons too. But because it squeaks a little? I'd say forget about it. But that's just me. It's a premier device and you deserve to be satisfied. if you're not satisfied then I'd suggest getting another.

Being a long time Blackberry user in the past device squeaks were very common.
A couple months after release a daring owner would take it apart find squeak post fix in forums.
I expect the same will happen with this device.
I'm picking up Sprint Version on Thursday , If it squeaks I will post fix
Hey everyone,
My Xperia Z1 Compact has been sent in to the repair center now because of a waterdamage caused by a leaking backcover / frame whick killed the camera button first and then the mainboard. All flaps and so were closed and no water got in that way. 2-3 weeks and I'll have my Z1 Compact again.
Anyone else who've been sending in their phones on warranty because of waterdamage? How did it go? Did they replace the phone or did they just repair it?

Yes, I was terrified whem my phone broke as I've only had it for 2-3 weeks . I hope that they'll resolves it, otherwise I will just use my insurance.

2 weeks later, now, no issue at all.

Man, I don't even want to know how Sony is going to handle warranty claims based on water damage.
It's going to be a nightmare. At least in Germany, where mobile phone companies try a lot of things to avoid a warranty repair / exchange.
How will it be possible for the consumer (and Sony) to determine whether it was an open port or a valid claim....?
How are things going to play out if Sony claims that it was an open port - and I'm sure it wasn't.
Those are the concerns that make me keep my Z1c dry at the moment...
Regards,
Yoko
maybe replace it with a refurbished one

Yup happened to me.
What happened was, I bought this in Taiwan on my honeymoon and to test the "WaterProof" claim, I threw it in the ocean in Guam, took under water photos with it and it died a few hours later.
Sony said that they it is waterproof only in FRESHWATER but the repair center was nice enough to send me a brand new replacement unit. Since this was a product outside of the USA region, they actually went out of their way to import it and send it to me. The process took a month but I'm happy they made the effort!
yep, my phone is for evetualy rain drops or drops from bath, i dont trust this device in the pool...

WOW!
That would never hapen in Germany, at least I have never heard of such a customer service!
Indeed the Z1c is only rated for fresh water with the explanation that salt water will conduct electricity between the two magnetic charger points...
I don't know about that, but at least they gave an explanation...

So there are more people who've been encountering this "issue". Hmm

My fones back is somewhat creaky.. should i be worried about this waterdamage stuff? I use it in water alot and dont want to ruin it but i got a waterproof fone cause i wanted a 'waterproof' one! I want to install the glass back to maby make it more solid.
howdy all,
bought my device early february in germany and took it into a freshwater pool standing and taking a couple of underwater face shots via the camera button.
shortly after that the display startet to get all distorted and i powered it off all the way and took out all cards. i thoroughly airdryed it with the car vents on my way back home and was able to revive it.
a couple of days later i repeated the procedure in the said pool and it killed the device - it shut down and upon restart it got stuck at the battery symbol.
all indicators had turned red even though i am sure i closed all holes correctly and did not exceed the depth limitations!
since there was no saturn in my city i returned it to mediamarkt, who luckily exchanged the device to a brand spanking new one- i doubt they send it to sony care center before that!
lucky me, i guess!
left wondering how far i can go with my new device and what the cause for this dreaded leakage might have been !!!???

Thanks for sharing your story. Maybe in this way Sony will realize that when they write IPX7 on their specs, people expect that rating to be real.
Sorry folks but I am not going to take a risk to use the phone under water just to take two silly pictures. I think it's nice to have a phone that you can use while it rains, but if I really want to take pics underwater I just buy a camera. Also this 30 minutes limit sounds kinda silly, I never heard a waterproof device that goes by time.
I am not sure how sony got that rating approved, or even if the rating is approved or not.
i put mine under water quite a few times (fresh water) never an issue. be certain your flaps are closed 'n stuff
i even showered with it for the heck of it
Update:
It seems like I will get a new Z1 Compact, as the servivce status has been changed to:

I had my 64gig note5 for 3 weeks. I treated it like every other phone i have ever had, including pulled it out in a light drizzle for 2 seconds to check a text.
Apparently this phone is not water safe at all.
My screen started acting up and i sent it in, and they say it has water damage, from just having a few dots of rain in it, IN A CASE.
Last Samsung product I ever buy. And I have bought a lot from them.
Be careful. Buy insurance. Or don't buy this phone.
When i get it back i will do a tear down and show you were it is vulnerable.
This says otherwise... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOSS_YeeKRs
2 seconds of light drizzle will not damage this phone in that manor. Maybe we need to define what "light drizzle" is. our definitions may be different!
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Light drizzle as in when I wiped it off and put it back in my pocket the screen had maybe 8 raindrops on it.
As far as how other phones do in videos, IDK, all I know is my phone and how I treated it and how Samsung denied my repair.
I asked the guy when I called them how he knows there wasn't a failure in manufacture of the glue or whatever and they refused to even talk about that, "It shows water damage inside", that was all the proof he needed that it was not the phone's fault.
I actually added up all the TVs and such I have bought from Samsung, it's over $10k, and I could probably buy that again in future stuff easily. It's too bad they have terrible service, they have lost a lot of future income.
It's not surprising Apple is beating them up again.
If I did something like dropped this phone in water or spilled a big gulp on it, I wouldn't be complaining, that's my fault. But NO $900 phone should be toast from a few rain drops. It's pathetic.

Sorry I just can't imagine 8 raindrops damaging a phone like that........$900 for a Note 5? That's crazy. Where'd you buy it for that price?
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
It's from Sprint direct.
Is it even water damage? Or is it just Samsung's poor service? IDK.
Yes, it's crazy. Yes, I can't imagine a few drops of rain can destroy a 3 week phone, and that they see "corrosion" inside when it was only a 2 weeks old when I pulled it out in the drizzle.
Yes, I can't imagine it either, but it happened.
What's even worse though, is Samsung didn't even offer to fix it for cost. They say it costs MORE to fix than buy a new one. Which is completely a joke. They can't put a new motherboard in it for less than $900? That's just insane.
Imagine if you bought a new car and blew up the engine and it cost more to put in a new engine than to buy a new one?

Less than 24 hours after I got it I dropped mine from about two feet. It landed half on the grass half on the concrete patio. The back glass cracked. Rather than rant that the back shouldn't have cracked from that particular drop I owned it and called Samsung to get it repaired. It's $76 including them paying roundtrip 2 day shipping. I'd say that's pretty good service. The progress of the repair was available to me step-by-step onine and it was quite detailed. Do you mind posting yours? I'd be curious to see what led to it being beyond economical repair.

If I put diesel in a two week old gas-powered car not too hard to imagine at all. You admit you got the phone wet so the part that's gray is how wet you got it. I left mine outside face up on the patio table and it got caught in a sudden rain shower. It was fine in every respect afterward. So at least based on my experience it's not that water sensitive. But each drop and water encounter is different so everyone's experience is YMMV.
Yeah samsung will not fix anything at their cost once water damage is confirmed from that little sticker.

Anecdotes do not equal facts...
Title of this thread is misleading.
First, Samsung never claim this phone is water resistance or Water proof. Second, You just have the ****tiest luck, Mine was in my jeans the other day, soaking wet from heavy rain and it still working.
What you should have try is turning it off and sat it in front of a fan for a couple hours to see if that fix it.
P.s it not physically possible that a light drizzle can messed up the screen...unless rain got through the ear piece. or you just trolling around.
One drop just got in the wrong place, like through the connector in the bottom or something
a 2 sec rain "drizzle" dropping into the bottom connector, frying the motherboard is an unlikely event lol.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
All I can say is "Murphy's law".
Just bad luck, I had self broken back glass on Z3 and stuck autofocus (constant macro shots lol) which I fixed by shaking the phone, looked like lense was stuck.
And yeah I'm even more impressed by your accident considering all the waterproof tests which S6 passed or lasted for very long till fully dead.

Water dots can be activated if you have it in the bathroom while taking a hot shower...
Anyone who damages their note 5 due to him/her taking it into an environment extreme enough to cause water dots is user error. Not the fault of the manufacturer!

Understood. I was just stating an all to common issue based on my experience as a service and repair technician for Samsung devices. There is no wiggle room when the water indicator is tripped. Only option is insurance replacement.

Hello everybody,
I am a worried owner of a Xperia Z5. I have had it for a little more than a month now.
I have discovered that my phone is bend and it's not the result of a particular accident. It's bend in my jeans pocket. It's my first Sony and i have never had this problem with other brands.
It's bend just where you put in the SD and SIM card. I guess the frame is weak at this spot
Am i the only one with this problem?
Kind regards

Considering the place where it's bent and the phone dimension I would say front pocket with 'heads' down or back pocket with 'heads' up and then a quite strong force applied by sitting down and having the pants get tight and thus bending the phone against your leg. A sturdy casing would be good in those situations.
Are you one of those lads who wears those skinny jeans that are designed for girls?

Maybe....but I have never had this kind of issue with another phone. I think I will avoid phones build of only glass and a metalframe. I guess they can't cope with my definition of normal use.
The other phones may be made of soft plastic instead of glass and medals. It happens more often than people think. Instead of a bend some phones it equals a broken screen even when the body is straight as if there was no impact.

I'm sorry, but I've got to agree with Sensination.
The phone didn't bend on its own. It was because you were storing it wrong. Sony has every right to refuse a return.
It's obviously not a widespread issue. Just make sure you store your next device in a better pocket.

As i said earlier they did not acknowledge the bend as covered by the warranty. The answer was that the bend was from wrong use of the phone. After that I decided not to fix the bend, because the phone isworking fine.

However one thing that bugs me is the dirt and dust being accumulated in the slightest gap present between the display and panel behind it especially at the top and bottom

Confirmed!
I can not tell how high pressure can be but the water coming from the sink is ok. Takes more time tho.
It would be best to use a hand shower and one of the streams but I am afraid that the water will leak into the device .
If someone is brave enough or have a test model in home he might test it :good:
