This is unacceptable !!!
I will ask for replacement ..
Do anyone has the same issue..??

Yes, the top left corner is squeaking when I speak on the phone. Doesn't bother me too much though.

My top bezel squeeks. I contacted handtec for a replacement. No word yet

Maybe this is part of the build? If others are experiencing it I wouldn't worry about it.

are you in UK? Do they cross ship? Will they pay for return shipping?

Mine squeaks ever so slightly at the top part if pressed too. It doesn't really bother me. I have a squeaky Thinkpad x220 that nonetheless is as strong as a tank. You can always find faults on these products, I have a feeling if I get mine exchanged for such a small thing I'll end up with a new device with something else to be bothered about.

You'll kick yourself if the replacement comes back with an even worse problem. Like dead pixels/bad screen tint.

Not in HK,,, i went to the store and open at least 2 units to choose....and of course full test ...
Got it replaced ...with aperfect one. but it probably squake again after a while....after some stress on my pants...hehehe
Anyone experience otherwise?

Just noticed bezel near volume rocker is squeaking, n I hate it.

Mines squeaks too, but it's more of the back cover than the bezel.
Might be the way the cover is designed, after a few openings, it deforms slightly?

Would someone upload a video?

Guy the top bezel is squeaking because of that feature in the movement settings.. The double tap on the top of the phone makes you come back at the top of the list of your contacts for example.
Try to enable that feature and press two times the bezel that is squeaking.
It wasn't like this in my gs3,but it's more sensitive now.

But this squeaking is a physicsl defect...???

I completely agree. There is no such thing as a perfect device. Everything has an error here or there. So if there is no real problem then be happy I'd exchange mine for problems with the screen or camera. Buttons too. But because it squeaks a little? I'd say forget about it. But that's just me. It's a premier device and you deserve to be satisfied. if you're not satisfied then I'd suggest getting another.

Being a long time Blackberry user in the past device squeaks were very common.
A couple months after release a daring owner would take it apart find squeak post fix in forums.
I expect the same will happen with this device.
I'm picking up Sprint Version on Thursday , If it squeaks I will post fix

Normal or defect?

Does everyone xoom back cover where the top and bottom cover meet has a slight creak when depress between the left speaker and camera? The area can be depress slightly also.

Don't think so, I believe someone else posted about this and exchanged theirs. I wonder if this is a defect in many devices now that you're posting on the same thing.

mine can be compressed, it doesn't make any noise though.
In the end -- they're two pieces, a little movement is expected.
Just checked, mine does not creak at all. Might be a defect, i'd take it to a VZW location and compare it to the sales demo or a new model.
Mine does this too

Cracking sound when holding it

When holding with my both hands I can hear cracking sounds on the frame up left side half way down anywhere I press around edges on the black frame it bothers me a lot. Is this how is on yours or my is faulty anyone please.

I'm not getting any squeaky, quirky or "cracking" sounds on mine, it's very sturdy and tight. Maybe you got a slightly defect one. If it bothers you then you should obviously return it.

+1 - nothing like this on my a500, had it for nearly two months. Trade it in.
Make sure all corners are snapped firmly in place. Like others have said, just return it and get a replacement if there isn't any obvious fixes to your issue.
no creaks, squeaks or otherwise here, as others have posted, if you still have time, exchange it!
Thanks guys, good enough, I gonna replace it even though there is no gap and looks tight but something is wrong cuz every time I press it cracks like something is not snap tight.

I probably did get that one which you have returned. ;-) The same noises in the upper left corner. Unfortunately that is a big pain in the ass to replace something in Poland. BTW it is 530 USD to buy it here. Anyway is the new one free of that cracking sound??
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I have only seen 3-4 people complain about this so it seems to me that it's a very rare build defect, probably just a bad batch of plastic somewhere? Of course, what I have or haven't seen is just anecdotal evidence, but I'd feel returning it and getting another one should have quite good chances of actually getting one of the good samples

New tab owner, wondering how build quality holds up?

Had the tab for just about two days and I have already noticed some slight creaking from two spots on the bezel where the screen meets the edges of the back plate. I actually love this device and coming from the xoom the light weight and slim design are priceless. The only thing is it appears it may come at the expense of some durability. I have handled this thing very carefully and haven't done anything reckless or abnormal with it in this short time so naturally I am a bit unnerved to already hear creaking noises slip out from the sides.
It definitely feels on the delicate side (which i guess is ok because I have no need to use it as shield, hammer, or battering ram) but if it can't endure normal or careful use, that is a concern.
Is this is a normal problem? I saw that some handed out at Google I/O had the screen warp up from the body, were these replaced under warranty or have others had their tab serviced by Samsung for a similar problem?
Thanks in advance to all the commenters.

I bought my Tab yesterday and I started using it and noticed the screen was lifting from the top on both corners so I exchanged it and this new one seems fine so far!!
Had mine 1 week. No issues. I dont treat it like a rental car or anything. I treat it like a $600 investment that I would not want to A) be without, B) pay to replace (although i have a SquareTrade 2yr warranty w/ accidential coverage.)
But not reallh looking for issues. It feels right and solid in my hands. I see some on this site pushing in on the screen and backside, and clicking around on things. I guess I dont go looking for ways to annoy myself with something I enjoy. Its like picking a fight with your signifigant other just to find a reason to breakup with them.
But to amswer your question: great solid build and most top gadget sights concur in their reviews.

Oh yeah, it must have been that frisbee game I played with it to break it in. Thanks for the good advice though, I was a bit hesitant to throw it around like that butin the end i decided what the hey.
And just so you have your facts straight, when the screens on galaxy tabs handed out by Google started peeling most top gadgets sites covered it.

I've had the Wifi model since launch. No squeaks or other problems. I dropped it on one occasion, it survived with a slight nick on the corner.
All in all, these seem pretty sturdy. It isn't a tank like the Xoom, but I prefer the thinness of the 10.1.
I have a small creak up in the corner where the power button is, if I push the screen and backing together they squek, debating on whether or not to exchange it for a new one.
I know folks here will tell me that I should use a screen protector and a cover of some type, but I've put my Tab 10.1 in my bag and taken it to uni for a week with no worries.
I haven't had any issues with build quality for the two weeks I've owned it... though you could still potentially get one that may be defective.
I don't know how I would return a tab with a creak in the corner, I'm sure that because its before the 14 day return period, it should be no questions asked.

Hey man, I went and exchanged it for a replacement. They took it back with pretty much no questions asked. I just showed them the squeak and told them I was worried about worse problems down the road and they handed me a new Tab

Is this what everyone complains about?

Just got my nexus 7 in today. It seems fine, although, I noticed that con the cleft side of the screen, it seems to be slightly raised in the middle. The corners attached fine. Are people sending out back for this? It doesn't seem like an issue, just an annoyance
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it. Seems like it's always on the left side for some reason. It's lifts up over the bezel and you can push down on it and it lifts again later. That is how mine is... or was hopefully.
I heated it up with a game, then put a couple clamps on it, left it over night turned off, and today it has stayed down so far. Hope the adhesive that is suppose to hold the glass down sticks now.
I had a previous one though that was slightly different, it was raised on the left side, but I couldn't push it down. Seemed like a screw was tightened too far or something. I sent that one back.
Either deal with it or get a refund if it really bothers you. You can also try number of fixes that are posted on these forums. They pretty much all have this issue to some degree.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes this is it, but the real problem is if it makes a noise when you push on it. THATS the annoying part.
Mine doesn't make any noise, although it definitely is a tiny bit squishy and if you try and push hard on it, it does act a little like an LCD monitor. I just didn't care enough to try and return it, as I would have never noticed it if everyone hadn't had their panties up in a wad as much as they did. I figure the worst that happens is that it gets worse over the next year and I end up having to spend a whole $200 more on a newer model.
I agree. I can't imagine this truly hurting the experience. Oh well. Not a big deal as long as it works well

I agree, if it was a true issue I would get a new one. In my case, it is only raised in the middle, and not that noticeable. Everything else is fine. You can fix that too

Besides it shouldn't affect performance. I hope

When I got my second one from the play store, it looked like the middle of the left side was raised. I thought I pushed it down but it never came back up.
I keep looking at it and touching it but nothing. I don't know if I imagined it or maybe bad lighting.
Just install a TPU case where the lip overhangs the screen. Problem solved. Out of sight out of mind. I'm enjoying my N7.
If its a problem 6 months later then I'll call and exchange it. Big whoop.

I don't think that they all have this issue, only a select few. I have been lucky enough to get 4 Nexus 7's and no issues. I have seen the issue posted on the site several times though, and the fixes seem pretty easy. There are some youtube videos on fixing it too. Good luck fixing it mate, would take advantage of the warranty if I were you.

I am not talking about a problem to that extreme, I am talking about, a very slight raise in the middle, with no squeak. The only thing that I can think of that could be bothersome about that is that when you push hard on the bezel, a little bit of the left screen ripples

I have exact the same problem as described. They most annoying part is they "cracking" sound it does when tapping on the left side. I curious whether the touchscreen responsivness issue is somehow related to this problem.
Btw I thought it might be related to the processor since its also on the left side, maybe the heat causes the glue to detach ... if you know what I mean.

Who else has given up on lift?

Don't tell me I am the only one. Has anyone else just stopped caring about screen lift? I have ATTEMPTED to fix it, but it doesn't work that well. Who else
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I've just lived with mine. It's very minor (the raised glass is about the thickness of a sheet of paper) so I consider myself one of the lucky ones.
I kept my first one. Messing with washers and shorter screws helped the visual lift a bit but the screen is creaky and squidgy and doesn't feel too solid and plenty of rippling around the screen.
The second one went back and am now on my third. It had NO lift on day one and 10 days later it still has no lift at all. It all feels very solid and no screen rippling or creaking.
So there are good ones out there.
So it's down to which you can live with easier, the screen lift or the hassle of the returns process.
I really didn't give a crap. It's a tiny minor flaw I really didn't care. I mean really, it's 200 dollars I don't expect the world. This thing does everything I wanted and more and its a measly 200 bucks. I am too busy enjoying it rather than sweat petty little stuff.
minor screen lift on mine, its in a case now, so I can't see it anyways
Open it up and on the side where the creakiness is coming from you'll notice a small strip of black foam. Remove it. This will get rid of the creakiness (worked well for me).

You haven't had it then. I've had two with the screen lifting along the left side, and I've seen and used ones without it. I can assure you it is very real and is a big deal.
More generally, the 'what do you expect for £200' argument is a false one as the price is not set for faulty goods. I will keep returning them until I get a good one, and I'd suggest no-one settles for less than that. But, hey, choice is yours.

Nah. My argument us sound.
No product ever made is perfect and we all accept some level of compromise. When you buy a $4 hamburger your expectations are lower than a $10 one. For you the flaws are unacceptable. For others they reflect a 'cheap' but still satisfying product. Like you said, the choice is yours

set it level, and look at the left side.. if the glass is coming up above the silver bezel, you've got lift, chances are you'll be able to push it down and it will be spongy and pop back up

The dodgy screen lift has nothing to do with it being cheap, its a fault.
I've had my third nexus for nearly two weeks, it was just as cheap as the first and second but has no faults with the screen.

The glass is flat; it does not curve.
