Crack on the back of the camera..how to fix? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just noticed a crack on the back of my camera going across, the plastic/glass part. How can I fix it? Can I just take it off and put on a new one? Do they sell those online anywhere?

if you mean the part with camera glass then it isn't that hard to replace but if back cover is also damaged then you will also need g2 back cover and using a video like g2 screnn replacement but you only need about the first 5 minutes which is about removing the back

Thank you for the link, it is the glass. Is there no easier way? Only the glass needs to be replaced. http://i.imgur.com/2yu1zmH.jpg

[Q] lcd has a shade starting from top

had to replace my glass and digitizer, so i did. after i put my phone all back together i get this weird kind of issue with my lcd. when i startup the phone it looks just fine, but then its like a shade is pulled down most of the screen. it will change depending on the background. just sucks when the main issue is fixed, something else goes wrong. anyone have this problem or know how to fix it shoot me a line.
thanks

i tried to post pics but i am a noob and it wont let me. sorry
nevermind about not getting pictures. here they are.
Try reseating the display cable.
i had taken it all apart and back together again, and its still the same.
Did you try the old display? If the old one works, and this one doesn't, then this one is faulty.
it is the old display. it worked perfectly up until i replaced the glass and digitizer. even while my screen was cracked, i could use and see the phone just fine.
How did you get the glued down digitizer off? Did you start prying?
Oh, and you should have gotten an LCD/Digitizer combo.
i got it off by heating the edges carefully with a blowdryer and used the plastic guitar pick tool to remove the glass/digitizer from the lcd. it came off way smooth and easy.
i was thinking to myself i should have got the combo as well, but didn't have the extra 100$ now i totally regret not getting it. FACE PALM!!!

I looked again. You (somehow) broke the LCD. Look in the second photo at the top in the middle. See the dark spot?
If there is no physical damage, send it into HTC. You still might be under warranty.

That doesn't mean there is any visible physical damage. If he carefully replaced any void stickers, he should be fine.

that dark spot it just a piece of tape that is holding the generic screen protector on.
there is no more void sticker, and i purchased it from someone quite a while ago, not through a mobile service.

Nexus 4 Back glass shattered, won't power on.

Hey All,
The other night my phone back glass panel shattered while inside my pocket. I'm not sure when/how it happened. Now, I have a solid red light when charging and the phone will not turn on. I've tried various combinations of holding power + volume down, but to no avail.
I've got a ton of pictures and some saved games data I'm trying to get off the phone. Is there any way to do this?
Also, I called google and they are sending me a new one, but I didn't mention the broken glass. Do you think this will be an issue? I've also had it rooted for about 1 month now.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to open the back cover and unscrew the two screw pins that are holding the battery. Flip the plate over and put it back in and screw them back together. You will need a T5 torque screwdriver and small philip screwdriver. The phone should power on now.

Yeah, I'm not really sure. If I fix it myself... they might not take it. But I really want those pics off so I'm going to give it a shot anyhow.

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't charge you for the second phone: the screen on the first shattered - mechanical damage, it has been opened - this is not allowed. All these will leave you without warranty.

The black glass shattered while it was in my pocket. The screen is fine. It sounds like a manufacturers defect to me.

Oh I did. The lady said broken glass voided the warranty. So I hung up and called back and just didn't mention it.
I don't get it, whats the warranty good for if shattered glass voids the warranty?...
the whole phone is practically a glass statue.

Exactly. The glass breaking randomly should be covered by the warranty, since it's the damn problem. They even updated the design to include nubs on the bottom of newer models to prevent the glass from touching any surfaces 100% flat.
I had to order some plastic tools to open the case. They should come tomorrow. The new phone hasn't came either, ordered Friday night.

it may be a manufacturers defect, but the fact the device is going to be tampered with, and opened up; at least from a business standpoint, they shouldnt have to replace it. i hope it all works out for you, but on their end, giving you the refund/replacement would be questionable business practice. they lose money from it but gain customer satisfaction... tough call lol.
Update:
My pry tools came into today and I was able to remove the back. I then removed 1 battery screw and I cannot remove the second one. It is so ridiculously tight that it started to strip the screw. I switched to a flat head that fit exactly and the screw bent the flat head. (cheap metal i guess)
So my plan now is to go to the hardware store and get a brand name 1.0 precision flat head which will hopefully work. If that doesn't work I think I have a small enough drill head to drill the screw out.
One problem after another... this phone is really pissing me off.

Replacement camera lens glass (back).

So I turned over my tablet today to find that my back camera glass is smashed. I have no idea how or when this happened . The back camera still works but I need something back there to protect the lens. I found the part number and description from this thread
"60.H6002.002
CAMERA GLASS FOR 5M CAMERA (INCLUDED WITH BACK COVER)
A500
MISC "
I have no idea what to do with this information though. I can't find anything through eBay thus far.
You have to get the entire back panel. Either that or get a unit with a broken screen/digitizer and pull the MB and back cover. Use the back cover, then sell the MB. I had a back panel I could have sent you about a month ago, but I needed to get rid of stuff.

I tried searching eBay for A500 back cover but didn't find anything exact. Is it possible to just get a piece of plastic or something (like from the 3d glasses you get at movies) and glue it into place? I don't necessarily need anything fancy just enough to keep dust and debris out.

Wow, did that thing get run over? Unfortunately, if you look at the pictures, the the lens cover is missing from this unit so it wouldn't work.
Here's a back cover. Seems to have the camera window intact.

Replacing JUST the N4 back glass on the battery door?

Is it possible to JUST replace the back glass on the battery door? Has anyone attempted this? Ive looked and seen that the whole part (glass and door) is around 60 dollars which is kinda pricey and just the glass is around 20 which is alot better in my book so I was wondering if it is at all possible? Thanks for any info!

Not to be jerk but it's not rocket science. There is no best way to open it. There's only one way to do it. Just take off the back case and replace it with the new one and that's it. don't worry about the stuff inside the back cover. It's glued tight.

Thanks but I emphasized JUST the glass cause thats what I want to do JUST the glass not the entire back cause its potentially cheaper to go that way not the entire back which I know is easier to do but it costs more. I havent seen anyone actually replace JUST the glass which is what I was asking about. Idk if its glued to just plastic and i can break it apart and pry it off then clean and re-glue or stick, or if the nfc and wcharging contacts are glued to the glass in some way or what, thats where I want to be careful
it is possible. the best bet is to go ahead and remove all the glass pieces and that will determine which part to order. be carefule because the nfc and wireless charger are glued directly to the glass so if you rip the nfc or wireless charger you need to buy the whole thing. there is a foil attached to the inside of the back that is extremely easy to rip. mine was shattered into a lot of tiny pieces so it took a long time to remove all of the glass. so now i can just buy the glass instead of the whole back cover. it is a pain but it can be done.

ok interesting i thought it may be like you described. My back isnt completly shattered just by the speaker grill and then its spread out in large cracks so its not a terrible shatter. Do you think it would be easier to remove the glass since it isnt completely shattered? And should I use heat to soften the glue and lessen the chance it rips off the nfc sticker? And would you happen to have pics or know of pics of what it looks like under the glass or with the glass removed? Thanks for your help and info!
I can pull the back off mine later and get a pic. But I'll have to wait until I get off work.

heres some pics. i outlined the foil so you can see where its at. i have a wide peice of clear tape where the glass was at to hold the wireless charger in until i get a new glass. heat definitely helps to soften the glue.

Oh wow thanks man! Looks like there's a few gaps for the glass and the nfc charging coil is loose without the glass. Interesting. I wonder how it will look on the inside after the new piece of glass is placed like messy or as clean as the original look. Do you know what should be used to stick the new glass? I'm still debating if I should do this lol

Im not real sure what to use either but I'd say to use some epoxy of some sort. I don't know if it would eat away at the paint on the back side of the glass or not. So I'd test it on something besides your phone first. I don't think two side tape would stay very well.

You're going to have to look very very closely at the alignment tabs, your Motherboard etc.
Without seeing your phone in person, its going to be impossible for any of us to tell you why your back isn't sitting flush.
One other area you can check is the glue edges on both the midframe and the back glass.
Perhaps your removal process caused them to shift positions and no longer gel back together smoothly.
IF this is your problem its an easy fix...very tedious but easy.
You'll have to purchase an adhesive template for the Redmi Note 7 from Ebay, Amazon, Witrigs etc.
Then heat and VERY carefully remove all the glue residue from the back glass AND the phone's midframe surface where the glass reconnects.
If you feel this is too much, pay a shop to do it for you. You'll be MUCH happier in the end with a better looking phone vs having one where the glass is sticking up in a corner or along the edges

Hello, thank you for the reply...
I actually can't get the back to slide over the the camera and sit flush with the rest of the phone... I don't want to force it because it's glass and for sure it will break.... Something seems to be stopping the back from going down over the camera and sitting flush with the rest of the phone... Hope that helps...
