[Q] lcd has a shade starting from top - HD2 General

had to replace my glass and digitizer, so i did. after i put my phone all back together i get this weird kind of issue with my lcd. when i startup the phone it looks just fine, but then its like a shade is pulled down most of the screen. it will change depending on the background. just sucks when the main issue is fixed, something else goes wrong. anyone have this problem or know how to fix it shoot me a line.
thanks
Snickles
i tried to post pics but i am a noob and it wont let me. sorry

nevermind about not getting pictures. here they are.

Try reseating the display cable.

i had taken it all apart and back together again, and its still the same.

Did you try the old display? If the old one works, and this one doesn't, then this one is faulty.

it is the old display. it worked perfectly up until i replaced the glass and digitizer. even while my screen was cracked, i could use and see the phone just fine.

How did you get the glued down digitizer off? Did you start prying?
Oh, and you should have gotten an LCD/Digitizer combo.

i got it off by heating the edges carefully with a blowdryer and used the plastic guitar pick tool to remove the glass/digitizer from the lcd. it came off way smooth and easy.
i was thinking to myself i should have got the combo as well, but didn't have the extra 100$ now i totally regret not getting it. FACE PALM!!!

I looked again. You (somehow) broke the LCD. Look in the second photo at the top in the middle. See the dark spot?

If there is no physical damage, send it into HTC. You still might be under warranty.

That doesn't mean there is any visible physical damage. If he carefully replaced any void stickers, he should be fine.

that dark spot it just a piece of tape that is holding the generic screen protector on.
there is no more void sticker, and i purchased it from someone quite a while ago, not through a mobile service.

touchscreen does not "untouch"

Hi Folks,
I'm reading this forum since about 1,5 weeks, as I got my first smartphone then. Unfortunaly I sent it back today, as it got broken yesterday. It has the problem, that the touchscreen doesn't untouch. I made a picture:
I can get rid of this touched area by pressing on it with my fingernail and move it to the bottom.
I think it's from that lether case. Anybody else ever had a problem like that? Probably with another phone type?
Looks like condensation under the screen to me.
Reapply screen protector... That's it..
I thought about water also, but under the microscope we have seen that it wasn't water. I was able to remove it restless until I touched it next.
I removed the screenprotector, but that wasn't a solution.
Unfortonaly I had to send it back today, as I'll get a brandnew one within the first 14 Days after delivery
Wow that's new. Mebe condensation.
Maybe since the touch part is 2 layers, Glass and Plastic screen hovering on top of that, that it got too hot somehow and that the plastic part got stuck to the glass. mebe if you had let it cool or something it woulda unstuck.
Was the phone near any heat or in direct sunlight?\
This looks like a cracked digitizer, a touch sensitive layer above the screen itself. The screen underneath usually seems to be fine, but it doesn't have the touch capabilities anymore. It has a look of spilled liquid and you should be able to see dots of the touch grid, you can't see them normally. It happened to me on my Orbit2. I think whole screen has to be changed...

I thought about something like that too. Has the digitizer a "spazial" filling, so that you have a "soft feeling" when you tab it with the penzil?

I had the phone in my trouser pocket every day. No sunlight or heat. I tried cooling down...no chance. I had a Cassiopeia once and had a waterdamage to it. There I was able to get the water out of the touchpad by having it on my heating for a few days. But it looked not like this here.

Just had the same problem with my Td2. Not impressed. The phone was fine one minute as listening to my music on it, popped it in my pocket went upstairs ang got this blob right in the centre of the screen.
Glad I took the insurance now as this is going to have to get sent back. Not overly impressed as only had the phone for 6 weeks and having a problem with the build.
Just a quick question for those that had this problem. Was the damaged screen visible under all types of light?
I ask this because taking into different rooms in my house and different types of light it seems to disappear, then reappears under other light sources. I will test in the daytime tomorrow but am now starting to wonder exactly how long it has been there...

My "blob" couldn't be seen when I looked straight from above. As on my pictrue I had to look from a angle to see it. Also it was hard to see under bright daylight. Hope that helps.
But I have a question also: You all used the leather bag shipped with the phone? I think the case isn't plain enought inside. I think there is a higher pressure one the display while wearing it in my trouser pocket. Anybody else who can tell more about that?
I've the same problem, at least I think it is the same. Touch still works fine, but it seems like there is some condensation underneath the screen.
I can confirm that it has nothing to do with the screenprotector.
If I put my finger on it, it moves to the sides. Sometimes it seems to be gone, but after a while I notice it again.

It's not under warranty of HTC, at least that's what they told me...

too bad it seems like they classify it under 'cracked display' - and according to the user manual it is not covered by warranty.
Probably, but I think it's just an error of HTC. The way they treat their loyal customers is, in my opinion, verry disappointing. It was the same with the problems everyone had with the TytnII.
Today I got my phone back from my provider...the same broken one. In the letter they told my I sent it back too later
Now I'm dissapointed from o2 Germany, cause the customer support told me what to do and I did it.
guys i had the same problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519441) and i got a replacement. but i tell you.. this is caused because one time the phone got hit by pressure on the screen and the screen itself kinda felt into the phonecase. check out from the side.. you probably will see that the screen is lowered - then when you use fingers on the touchscreen this blob appears. in my case the screen didnt work anymore as soon the blob appeared... but was able to get it out with some tissue and rubbing.
also i saw some oil liquid under de screen - depending on the light outside.
so.. just take care.. this phone is very sensitive to any pressure on the screen and using it in a trouser pocket is already dangerous!

[Q] Scratch removal

Hi,
after my wife dropped my phone (accidently she swears) I have some small scratches on the phone. (See Picture below)
Someone knows some ACME Cleaner&Scratch remover for that?
Greetings .. seems that I have had the HD2 for the longest time ...
OOO!! Ouch! Looks like it's time to see the phone doctor. Or, if you feel brave enough, you can fix it yourself. They have replacement screens on ebay. Since you have the EU model the contacts for the screen and the digitizer are soldered together. So you have 3 options. 1. Take it to someone else to fix it. 2. Attempt to order just the digitizer and if you have some time and surgical skills solder the contacts yourself or, 3. Get a fully assembled LCD and digitizer that is already soldered together and swap them out. The cheapest would be to just get the digitizer but if you have to factor in the time and headache of soldering those tiny contacts together, I think getting the assembled parts would be my choice. The US T-Mobile model has a small plug-in type connector on it so there is not soldering. I replaced mine and it is quite a chore. You have to be very careful and don't rush it or you will break things. Good luck!
Yeah you've got more than scratches there! You've got a smashed screen
You'll have to replace the glass
the guy above stated pretty much everything you need to know but here's a link to a lcd+digitizer combo that is fairly cheap: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LCD-Dis...192999?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45fdf14d27

That's great. Like I said be very careful in taking it apart. Especially the flex cable that controls the volume rocker. Take your time and you can get it fixed.
Check out this website: http://pocketnow.com/hardware-1/official-htc-hd2-disassembly-assembly-training-videos-leaked
It has some videos on disassembling and assembling the HD2 just so you see what you have to deal with. Also another good investment would be to see if you can get some double sided tape to stick the back of the LCD to main frame if you can't salvage the stuff that's there already. It can't be too thick though because you'll run into problems of getting it put back together. They have that on ebay also.

Nexus 4 Back glass shattered, won't power on.

Hey All,
The other night my phone back glass panel shattered while inside my pocket. I'm not sure when/how it happened. Now, I have a solid red light when charging and the phone will not turn on. I've tried various combinations of holding power + volume down, but to no avail.
I've got a ton of pictures and some saved games data I'm trying to get off the phone. Is there any way to do this?
Also, I called google and they are sending me a new one, but I didn't mention the broken glass. Do you think this will be an issue? I've also had it rooted for about 1 month now.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to open the back cover and unscrew the two screw pins that are holding the battery. Flip the plate over and put it back in and screw them back together. You will need a T5 torque screwdriver and small philip screwdriver. The phone should power on now.

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't charge you for the second phone: the screen on the first shattered - mechanical damage, it has been opened - this is not allowed. All these will leave you without warranty.

Oh I did. The lady said broken glass voided the warranty. So I hung up and called back and just didn't mention it.
I don't get it, whats the warranty good for if shattered glass voids the warranty?...
the whole phone is practically a glass statue.

Exactly. The glass breaking randomly should be covered by the warranty, since it's the damn problem. They even updated the design to include nubs on the bottom of newer models to prevent the glass from touching any surfaces 100% flat.
I had to order some plastic tools to open the case. They should come tomorrow. The new phone hasn't came either, ordered Friday night.

it may be a manufacturers defect, but the fact the device is going to be tampered with, and opened up; at least from a business standpoint, they shouldnt have to replace it. i hope it all works out for you, but on their end, giving you the refund/replacement would be questionable business practice. they lose money from it but gain customer satisfaction... tough call lol.
Update:
My pry tools came into today and I was able to remove the back. I then removed 1 battery screw and I cannot remove the second one. It is so ridiculously tight that it started to strip the screw. I switched to a flat head that fit exactly and the screw bent the flat head. (cheap metal i guess)
So my plan now is to go to the hardware store and get a brand name 1.0 precision flat head which will hopefully work. If that doesn't work I think I have a small enough drill head to drill the screw out.
One problem after another... this phone is really pissing me off.

LCD screen white after replacing digitizer.

Hi,
I've replaced the digitizer and battery on my LG G2 D802. This was done after the original digitizer was cracked from a fall. Before the repair the screen and phone worked perfectly and half the digitizer was functional.
The battery was breached while attempting to disassemble the phone, so this was replaced as well.
When booting back up after the repair, the LCD is now having issues (no issues prior to digitizer replacement). The screen goes all white on boot up, and seems to be grey in it's turned off state, as opposed to the normal black colour. The phone seems to function besides the screen, and the digitizer seems work.
What do you think is wrong and how can I fix it? See pictures below.
Possible malfunctions according to myself are:
- I've read that white screens can happen when new hardware is not recognized. Maybe a factory reset will fix it?
- The connectors for the LCD screen not being tight (they seem fine to me);
- The screen got messed up from the heat or melting glue when heating the screen to peel off cracked digitizer.
I would very much appreciate your help on this issue, so thanks!
Pic 1: Screen is turned on and an all white screen is shown. Pic2: Screen is grey in its off state (looks like a 90s Nokia or a calculator). The bubble in the middle is caused by residue glue. Pic 3: G2 grey screen compared to normal black LCD off state of an iPad.
look like lcd was damage during removal of digitizer
When phone is powered off is that LCD still grey? If yes then probably its been damaged. Is there any colour problem it is definitely damaged. Also you stated that you replaced the digitizer and battery. AFAIK G2's LCD and digitizer are fused together so when you replace it will come as a unit. Maybe it was cheap clone?

I didn't say that. I said it is a possible reason as to why the screen is now grey. Except for the colour it doesn't seem heat damaged. There are a bunch of videos on Youtube doing this same repair, so it's definitely not impossible. For all I know the screen might be greyed out if it's not connected to the battery. That's why I'm asking here.
Could anyone point me to a reliable supplier where I can get the LCD and digitizer as a unit without paying a fortune? I live in Europe btw.
same problem, how did you get it fixed ?

Oneplus Two Screen replacement

I broke my OPT screen when I dropped the phone. I ordered a replacement screen on ebay and disassembled the OPT using videos I found on the internet. The OPT was relatively easy to take apart.
The replacement screen arrived. When trying to place the replacement screen into the frame, I noticed that it lacks the glue on the edge of the screen to attach to the frame.
Any ideas on how I can attach the replacement screen on to the frame? Is there any glue that I can buy? Or will regular glue like super glue(permanent glue) work? Just don't want to risk damaging the replacement screen.
Any ideas?

Sorry, have not been on xda in a while. I paid about 25 USD on ebay.
Its pretty easy to replace. Takes a lot of patience.
Since the thread has been revived already, I'll drop in my $0.05 since I just replaced my screen last week
* The assembly/disassembly is fairly easy following video tutorials, it's not even necessary to remove all parts if you're careful with the heat.
* Remember to move the fingerprint sensor, the glued-on touch buttons and the phone speaker cover on top to the new screen.
* As always, you need to be patient when heating and ungluing the old screen from the frame (luckily it's glued only on the borders).
* I got my screen from aliexpress just under $20. Couldn't find any difference between it and the original one.
* As previous posters said, do not use any cyanoacrylate glues (superglue, etc), they leave white stains on the glass.
* I was also surprised by no glue on the frame I didn't have time to order adhesive strips, used a really thin layer of silicone adhesive, worked well and there are no gluing signs.

It certainly looks the same, both internally and running on the phone, compared to my gf's OP2 which still has the original screen.
I bought this one, but I guess all the aliexpress screens are the same
I dropped my phone too sadly. Contacted the local repair centre and they said I do need to replace outer screen and the digitizer. And the process is more than $100 if I convert it.
In Alixpress just about $5 for the outer screen. Do I need to replace both or just the outer screen?

I don't think changing just the glass is a good idea, I think there was video of a guy trying and braking everything. Just like the guy before said buy a screen for $20 and follow a guide. I also broke mine, but ordered a screen + frame for $50 because I thought it would be easier to just move the hardware.
