Does anyone own Airave? It seems that I get a strong 3g signal when idle or browsing the internet when airave, but for some strange reason, when I make calls the signal drops down to low-to no signal and it couldn't detect airave.
For people that own Airave, is anyone have this kind of issue for NAE modem?
Thanks
EDIT: NVM It works again by resetting Airave.
I also have an Airave but have notice no change in signal. It's always good to do a power down reset every so often as it also forces a software update if needed.

I have been having substantial problems with my Spring GS4 connecting to mobile networks. I am in an area where I should have LTE, but most of the time my device constantly switches between 1xRTT and eHRPD (and NO network connection). Occasionally it will connect to the mobile networks 3G on 1X and 4G on LTE, but that usually requires restarting the device/ turning on/off airplane mode.
Any thoughts that you have would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to supply additional information upon request.
When you say 'should' have lte, do you mean Sprint had officially announced lte live in your area?
If not it's likely your issues are associated with lte deployment and are fairly common until upgrades are finished.
If so, if try prl and profile update

My area has an active LTE tower. I sometimes do connect, but soon after it goes back to no data.
I have tried a prl and profile update, although I will try again right now
Update: I did a prl update, but the profile didn't work (my device won't stay connected long enough for it to finish. Multiple attempts)

So what do you mean there is 1 tower in your area that has LTE? If that's the case it will be a while to get a consistent stable LTE connection because they would be doing NV upgrades in your area. And how far are you exactly from the tower that has LTE. It is probably just out of range or can't penetrate the walls or something. You should probably just go to s4gru.com and find your market thread and read. Also are you on a custom ROM. We can't really help without more info.

try a ##72786# reset(may need msl/spc) to reprovision your data profiles. I'd suggest being on wifi before you do this so that the profiles update over wifi after the reset. Do your PRL update over wifi as well.
It's possible that Sprint is in an upgrade phase which is causing issues. Here in philly we have many LTE towers yet my connection with eHRPD/LTE SUCKS!!! I know what bad is... this is worse than that.
You can get around this(YMMV) by setting the mobile network to cdma(cdma/evdo) instead of cdma/lte(cdma/evdo/lte) in settings. Doing this will make your phone ignore eHRPD/LTE and just stay on EVDO.
I read that ##72786# really screws up this phone on another thread
OP If you have NV upgrades going on in your area, give up on depending on your phone. I had to switch to Google voice just so I could find out if someone tried calling me because I would miss everyone's calls in addition to having almost no Internet.

Update: I connect well to LTE, but whenever it is eHRPD I lose connection. 1x works find, as does EvDo. Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks for the replies u guys. Im guessing that in my case its an upgrade phase. I still get connections all over but it switches back to EVDO all the time. Ill keep u guys updated.
Update: been plugging in at different locations and lte is connecting. When I unplug shortly after back on evdo 3g. Does anybody think power management on a system level might be a culprit? Anybody having similar results?

2 Devices. One seems to connect to LTE better than the other. Same Place, Same Tower. One is stuck on 3g (or worse) as you detail above while the other is solid 4g. Data on/off cycle doesn't help. I was using RF Signal tracker to see tower, and network information. I have also had many dropped calls, as well as Bluetooth troubles.
I have N9005 in the UK on EE network. We have 3g, H+ and LTE 4g. In my area I don't get LTE so that os irrelevant.
When I make a call, sometimes I can use data on the phone. For example, whilst on speaker phone, browse XDA.
However, very often, I have no data at all during the call. No 3g, no H+.
The problem is not data signal, as when the call ends I can easily use data.
So, does anybody have this issue?
Also, can anyone explain why?
F. Y. I it is GSM in the UK.

if you have a data signal while on a call your in a H+ area anything lower the data signal drops for the call

yep basically only a H+ signal supports voice and data together. i had it since sgs2 just sort of learnt to put up with it
My understanding has always been that only Three network could use data during a call. Unless I'm wrong.

does your wireless carrier support phone call and data usage simultaneously. You probably need to call your wireless carrier and find out. Goodluck

YOU don't get LTE because N9005XXUDMJ6 firmware
My one is same, wait for N9005XXUDMK2 firmware or just make clean instal with odin v3.09,Then you will get 4g/lte,
Yesterday i had same issue with calls,,when i make call or receive call data signal was gone its all related to N9005XXUDMJ6 firmware Just install N9005XXUDMK2 then everything will be fine....
Since the update to Lollipop I have terrible cell signal and constantly drop calls. My data is fine. I want to flash back to the KK modem but in reading I saw something mentioning the Kernel controls the cell signal. Is that correct and flashing the modem will be pointless?
Thanks

Are you with Verizon? If not, have you checked with your carrier to update your APN?
If you are with Verizon, I would address the problem with them. Just dial *611 if you don't want to go there.
I have already spoken to Verizon. They checked and said I'm on the outskirts of coverage and tried to cell me the range extender.

I am having a problem on my phone where I am frequently losing LTE - my phone goes to 4G and I have trouble with data.
If I turn Mobile Data off and back on it connects to LTE again.
This seems like it started happening after I updated to the GoldenEye ROM - before that I feel like my LTE coverage was a lot better and more consistent.
Can anyone advise me on how to diagnose and hopefully fix this issue?
Hi,
Anyone else experiencing poor mobile reception on their OP5? Running stock, rooted, but reception always seems to be poor and whoever is on the call says i keep breaking up.
Reception bars are nearly always 3 or more, but I'm wondering if these are showing a false reading.
I've done *#*#4636#*#* and selected LTE/UMTS auto PRL and European band, but nothing improves.
I've tried a few network providers, but same issues.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
I have the same issue. The oneplus 5 has a very weak modem. Theres nothing u can do. I suggest downgrading the plan you have. I myself went with Mintsim. They're very cheap. The signal itself has to be strong in your area because the phone wont pick up the slack. The bars are just telling you that you have a good connection to the tower in your area.
