Rooted Nook HD+ Wont Boot from any SD - Nook HD, HD+ General

After I flashed my HD+ to the stock rooted rom I had noticed that my bluetooth keyboard was not compatable with the stock nook OS but worked fine with CM. I stuck the bootable SD in and it would not boot, I thought maybe this might be a problem with the sdcard well 5 sdcards later it still wont boot, this problem did not start until i flashed firmware 2.1.1 rooted on there. Is there anyways to get clockworkmod back on this device? If so is there a link anywhere to a flashable image and the name of the partition I would flash it to. I still see cyanaboot when i boot up but holding the N key to access the menu does nothing either. Thanks in advance

There is no menu in the cyanoboot screen. To reset your device do the 8 failed boot procedure. Just interrupt the boot 8 times in a row by holding the power button until it turns off. On the 9th boot let it complete and it will reset itself to pure stock. Then you can start over.

The only way you are going to be able to mod the device any further is to get an SD to boot. Did you try the new procedure in my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature?

It comes with and gets installed with the ROM. And it is just like the earlier bootloader, hold the n key.

Your n key works, right? And don't press too soon, wait for instructions to do it. It may be corrupted. Reinstall.

Yes, but if your n key is not working, I'm not sure this will work. Just hold power and n at the same time while booting. It should go directly to recovery.
You should also be able to boot to recovery from inside CM10 or PA by using the power off menu. After you select reboot, a second menu comes up to ask if normal reboot or reboot to recovery.

Thank you for reply
n key works in rom itself, so I assume it should work when nook starts. When nook starts and push n key, nook displays "loading menu" and that is it.
Any other ideas?

Did you try the other method of power and n?
It could be that cyanoboot is corrupted. Reflash the PA rom.

power and n works because I have to do it in order to restart NC. It gets frozen when I try to get to cyanoboot menu.
I installed SCHIZOID and moved from CWM to TWRP recovery and still have issues. Do you think I need to try wiping boot partition? I was going to try in stall CM10.1.
Thanks.

Be very careful about wiping /boot. If you do, be sure to flash a new ROM before you reboot. You can mess yourself up good if you don't. Another thing to try is my partition repairs in my partition thread linked in my signature. But if you do that you lose you media files, so back them up. That will fix boot. Do the 145678 zip.

Only if you go back to an old CWM. Eyeballer has a 3.2.0.1 version on his emmc install thread. It just boots to a skull. I have cyanoboot on all my new CWMs. Why is it a problem, it just boots past it?

When you have to do a home/power to recovery then you have to hold the "n" down to get to a menu to choose a recovery option.....to use an old North Carolina saying....Seems like you got to go around your a-hole to get to your elbow!
All my other devices just go straight to recovery. But, if thats the way it is...then thats way it is....
Funny you should mention eyeballer. I was just going through my root folder on the pc and I still had a 1. something eyeballer zip back from the auto-nooter days.

Since you are talking about recovery on emmc, it uses cyanoboot too. You can substitute the new cyanoboot with an old cyanogen u-boot.bin, (which is where cyanoboot is located), like from a CM7 ROM, but each time you flash a new ROM, the new one gets put back. So I think you are stuck with it.

Nook Color (Won't Boot/Hold Charge)

Hey guys ,
Just wondering 1st thing does the Nook Color only boot through the sdcard?
and i don't think it will hold a charge, not too sure hasn't been turning on for about 6 months now and i think it's bricked not too sure.
I have it charging right now and the light is orange on the charger so it might be charging. I will let it charge and see what happens.
The nook color is rooted with CWM recovery and wit cyanogenmod ROM just don't know what versions of both if you ask and it's needed.
Any help will be appreciated if you need more information please reply and i will tell you.
Another thing is my nook won't show up on my computer so i can't try and fix it from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
UPDATE: I guess it's fully charged by the green light on the cord, just still won't boot or connect to my computer so i can get it to boot up, so please help me fix this issue. :crying:

Yeah i tried that last night and i tried again 20 minutes ago, would help if my computer would recognize the nook color.
Had to use an old phone to burn the .img file and put it back into my nook and still won't boot up
EDIT: It booted up so now i am downloading CM 10.2 is that a good ROM to flash?

You say you got it booting, but you do not burn by hooking the device to a computer, you take the SD out and insert into the PC. And any ROM should fix it. Try the same one you currently have installed.

Lets say i boot into cwm/twrp using SD or emmc i cant do a creen install (u know formatting data, cache, ect) and then did its time to install the rom, it installs like normal, no problem whatsoever, then installing g apps, same as before not a single problem or error message, then i reboot, see the cyanboot then its says "loading Emmc" or something close to that then the screen goes black, and stays black. weather 5,10,30 mins, an hour goes by nothing else will show on the screen. i though maybe i didn't format my cache (sometimes that's the problem on other devices in the past from booting) so i boot back into cmw/twrp and format it again, reboot, then after the cyanboot screen complete black screen, but i can run roms off SD fine but i dont like too

Hi leapinlar,
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I just dusted off my Nook Colour and want to take it back to stock. I followed your tips and used CWM-6.0.1.2-bootable_SD to restore back to nookcolor_1_4_3_signed.
I followed another threads instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931720) where it told me to first format data and format system. I then chose the nookcolor_1_4_3_signed to install and rebooted.
I've rebooted a couple of times now and it is stuck on the screen with the n and "Contains reader mobile tech by adobe.."
I then went back into CWM and chose the restore function but i'm getting the same result.

I believe I already stated that I did use your files?
Edit: Sorry, now I see I missed the note about formatting with 5-6-7. I'm not sure what that really means, or how to do it, but i've downloaded it and I'll put it on the SD card and see what I can play around with in CWM.
Edit 2: Got it working! Thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to re-format the SD card so I can use it regularly again.

I tried repairing it using your 3 codes. It still boots up to " Read Forever"
And won't go any further. It acts like it's installing the update or installing
Back to the stock, but then it sticks.
I went back and re-read your answer. Am I wrong ? Is this just for if you are
Using an SD card to run your ROM with? You see I accidentally , some how removed
The emmc off of my internal drive... I think? When I put my SD card in to Change ROMs, it has a system , data, cache, sd card, sd-ext, but no emmc?
It acts like its installing the ROMs but you take the so card out and power on, and it
Sticks at Read Forever? I think I've really goofed this time!

It is possible that your NC internal memory has become read only. I have seen this happen rarely before. It acts like you are writing to it but nothing sticks. Successfully flashing the repair 14567 zip should have caused it to boot to cwm when you remove the SD. I am afraid your unit is toast.

I finally got everything to work. I was going to throw the NC away, and decided I would try one more time, and it worked. The results were after I flashed the partition 1,etc... and it would not do anything, until I flashed the partition 2, and still nothing, until I flashed the NC stock update.
BUT.... I just posted a new question, about it will only go to Stock 1.2. It will not let me
put 1.4 NC update on it, nor any of the custom Rom's ? Is there anything more I can do?
