[Q] What is the latest Cyanoboot? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where do I get it and how to install it? I was running Mirage 7.2 and trying to upgrade to PA. It looks like I have Cyanoboot installed, but I can't get to menu. Can somebody help?
Thanks

It comes with and gets installed with the ROM. And it is just like the earlier bootloader, hold the n key.

I installed PA 2.99, I can't get to menu by hold the n key.

Your n key works, right? And don't press too soon, wait for instructions to do it. It may be corrupted. Reinstall.

n key does work I just can't get it to show menu. Is there any other way to get to recovery?

Yes, but if your n key is not working, I'm not sure this will work. Just hold power and n at the same time while booting. It should go directly to recovery.
You should also be able to boot to recovery from inside CM10 or PA by using the power off menu. After you select reboot, a second menu comes up to ask if normal reboot or reboot to recovery.

Thank you for reply
n key works in rom itself, so I assume it should work when nook starts. When nook starts and push n key, nook displays "loading menu" and that is it.
Any other ideas?

Did you try the other method of power and n?
It could be that cyanoboot is corrupted. Reflash the PA rom.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab running Tapatalk

power and n works because I have to do it in order to restart NC. It gets frozen when I try to get to cyanoboot menu.
I installed SCHIZOID and moved from CWM to TWRP recovery and still have issues. Do you think I need to try wiping boot partition? I was going to try in stall CM10.1.
Thanks.

Be very careful about wiping /boot. If you do, be sure to flash a new ROM before you reboot. You can mess yourself up good if you don't. Another thing to try is my partition repairs in my partition thread linked in my signature. But if you do that you lose you media files, so back them up. That will fix boot. Do the 145678 zip.

endless loop when installing cyanogenmod

Hey,
So I installed Cyanogenmod nightlies from rom manager on my nexus 7 and it downloaded and installed fine, but then the device rebooted and has been stuck on a loop of the cyanogenmod splash screen for a hour or two. What did I do wrong and how can it be fixed?
Thanks

I think you have unlock the bootloader. I might be wrong, but that’s what I did. I unlocked and rooted my N7. Then I flashed a rom, but I was on 4.1.1 then.

dp you have a adb setup or maybe wugs toolkit? Correct me if im wrong but the old bootloader had a bug when manually going into the recovery vai button holding at power up
if you have adb setup try a adb reboot recovery and see if that gets you into clockworkmod/twrp, report back
so i have a new problem....i can boot the nexus 7 into recovery mode, but none of the volume buttons work to change the choice, and the nexus 7 toolkit doesnt see the device
now the screen is going nuts https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3678314/20121017_190402.jpg

After using your "NookColor-emmc-repair-partition-2.zip", no effect... so I tried "NookColor-emmc-repair-partitions-1-4-5-6-7-8.zip" too. And now I get Cyanoboot everytime I power on... The Factory Reset dosen't work anymore, I can't even know how to turn my Nook Color off. I guess I just made another mess... Could you please help me get back to normal state.

I don't know what you mean by factory reset. Do you mean the the 8 failed boot reset? That would be gone because you just wiped your device of everything completely. You were only supposed to do the partition 2 repair. Now you need to finish the process and reinstall stock.
Flash the format zip and go to my tips thread linked in my signature and look at item A15. It tells you how to put stock back on the nook.

Is there any way to disable or remove Cyanoboot? Seems like a very unnecessary step in the recovery system.

Only if you go back to an old CWM. Eyeballer has a 3.2.0.1 version on his emmc install thread. It just boots to a skull. I have cyanoboot on all my new CWMs. Why is it a problem, it just boots past it?

When you have to do a home/power to recovery then you have to hold the "n" down to get to a menu to choose a recovery option.....to use an old North Carolina saying....Seems like you got to go around your a-hole to get to your elbow!
All my other devices just go straight to recovery. But, if thats the way it is...then thats way it is....
Funny you should mention eyeballer. I was just going through my root folder on the pc and I still had a 1. something eyeballer zip back from the auto-nooter days.

Since you are talking about recovery on emmc, it uses cyanoboot too. You can substitute the new cyanoboot with an old cyanogen u-boot.bin, (which is where cyanoboot is located), like from a CM7 ROM, but each time you flash a new ROM, the new one gets put back. So I think you are stuck with it.

Rooted Nook HD+ Wont Boot from any SD

After I flashed my HD+ to the stock rooted rom I had noticed that my bluetooth keyboard was not compatable with the stock nook OS but worked fine with CM. I stuck the bootable SD in and it would not boot, I thought maybe this might be a problem with the sdcard well 5 sdcards later it still wont boot, this problem did not start until i flashed firmware 2.1.1 rooted on there. Is there anyways to get clockworkmod back on this device? If so is there a link anywhere to a flashable image and the name of the partition I would flash it to. I still see cyanaboot when i boot up but holding the N key to access the menu does nothing either. Thanks in advance

There is no menu in the cyanoboot screen. To reset your device do the 8 failed boot procedure. Just interrupt the boot 8 times in a row by holding the power button until it turns off. On the 9th boot let it complete and it will reset itself to pure stock. Then you can start over.

Lets say i boot into cwm/twrp using SD or emmc i cant do a creen install (u know formatting data, cache, ect) and then did its time to install the rom, it installs like normal, no problem whatsoever, then installing g apps, same as before not a single problem or error message, then i reboot, see the cyanboot then its says "loading Emmc" or something close to that then the screen goes black, and stays black. weather 5,10,30 mins, an hour goes by nothing else will show on the screen. i though maybe i didn't format my cache (sometimes that's the problem on other devices in the past from booting) so i boot back into cmw/twrp and format it again, reboot, then after the cyanboot screen complete black screen, but i can run roms off SD fine but i dont like too

Hi leapinlar,
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I just dusted off my Nook Colour and want to take it back to stock. I followed your tips and used CWM-6.0.1.2-bootable_SD to restore back to nookcolor_1_4_3_signed.
I followed another threads instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931720) where it told me to first format data and format system. I then chose the nookcolor_1_4_3_signed to install and rebooted.
I've rebooted a couple of times now and it is stuck on the screen with the n and "Contains reader mobile tech by adobe.."
I then went back into CWM and chose the restore function but i'm getting the same result.

Hi leapinlar,
I believe I already stated that I did use your files?
Edit: Sorry, now I see I missed the note about formatting with 5-6-7. I'm not sure what that really means, or how to do it, but i've downloaded it and I'll put it on the SD card and see what I can play around with in CWM.
Edit 2: Got it working! Thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to re-format the SD card so I can use it regularly again.
