S4 Green Led always on - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
Yesterday I had a new issure with my i9500. The green led stays always on, even if the phone is turned off, the only way to disable it is pulling out the battery. Now, I know I have a faulty battery, I was at a Samsung Service Center and they ordered a new on for me under warranty, which should arrive in the next few days.
Do you think it is possible that the battery is causing it?
thank you very much!

Is the phone plugged in when it happens?
If so, it is just a notification indicating that you have a fully charged battery

It happened to my i9505. Took it to service center and they ended up replacing the whole mainboard.

hi! help! my hermes suddenly "died?"

hi! i have a dopod 838 pro. and it suddenly cant turn on. i was just texting then it went buggy (hanging up) then i did a soft reset then all of a sudden it didnt turn on. i was charging it at that time.
the phone never got wet, was never dropped. i installed the official wm 6.1 rom and it had been running for more than two weeks so i dont think the problem was the ROM. battery is good since i still get two days of battery.
i have tried hard resets, used the usb connector to power the phone up. havent tried another battery though. is there any way i can diagnose the problem before spending for diagnostics in the shop?
this was an observation: when i remove the battery and connect it to the charger, LED is red then it disappears when i replace the battery. no amber going. how do i test if the problem is in the battery? battery connector? power? or (please i pray not) the motherboard itself?
a little help please! more power to this forum. thanks!
gab
Would suspect the battery... Red LED WOULDN'T turn on if this was a hardware problem, broken battery connectors and such. However, if you install the battery when the red LED is visible (connected to charger without battery) & it doesn't turn amber (charging) then I'd suspect the battery has died.
Take in to a shop and ask to try a battery, easier if you know someone with the same phone.
Cheers...
i have it sent to the authorized htc center here in our area. the technician tried using another battery but still it didnt work. my phone will be left at the shop for about 4 to 5 days for diagnostics. the technician said that theres a possibility that this may be a motherboad problem like the board short circuited.
but how come? how can this happen?
can anyon confirm that this is a motherboard problem? awh! cant wait for the result of the diagnostics.
thanks!

HTC elf doesn't start

Hello i have a htc elf0100, and suddenly he doesn't charge anymore nore start. It's completely dead, i already tried a new battery and i even charged the battery with a battery charger. I have measured the contacts of the phone when is connected to a charger and i have 4,7V wich may indicate that the power of the phone is ok. But in fact it doesn't power on. Does anybody know what might be the problem
Mainboard
Is it possible to buy a mainboard for the htc elf0100, and if so where can i buy it and how much will it cost?
Have you had any further luck with this problem?
I have a bought a Touch which appears to be suffering the same problem.

I tried repairing mine but no luck. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong inside it. Actually I had just finished refurbishing mine and for 2 days I was admiring its brand new white covers... Then, all of a sudden, the mobile turned off and doesn't respond to on/off,resets,chargers ever since. I am also guessing that my CPU must have been destroyed... :-(
I solve this problem whit the rework station, you need to heat the board, like 2 minutes in 400 Celsius, tried to don`t burn the conectors and the stikers.
Yesterday, after 2 months, it accepted the chrarger (led on) for... 1 second and then it started booting (for 5 seconds) but died again...
Wow! It responded again! This time it turned on and stayed on in bootloader! So I flashed it, and it WORKS!
So my tip is: every time you try to turn it on, always try in bootloader mode. So if it turns on, at least you will be able to do something!
Hi papajohn
how did you get it to turn-on again?
mine's dead no power response at all, completely dead, no tricolor, no white screen, no response to hard reset, can't enter bootloader, no orange led indicator when plug into power supply.

HTC Touch does not turn on and does not charge

Hey
My friend has a problem with her HTC Touch that it cannot turn on or charge. Sometimes (randomly) the amber light turns on for a second (when we plug it in to charge) but turns off. She changed the battery with a new one which fixed the problem for about a day and afterwards same issue. She also tried with another charger and same issue as well. What could be the problem or how can we fix it?
i had same prob luckily it was in warranty they changed the main board

If it’s under warranty get your motherboard replaced or if you are fortunate you can even get a fresh device but if it’s not under warranty get ready to play a whooping 14K for a new motherboard.
I have got my MB replaced

[Q] Strange battery issues

Hi all. I got my phone about 1 1/2 months ago, and I always thought that my phone charged slowly. I remember one time when using 4g and connected to the wall charger, it only added about 1-2% after 2 hours. Recently, there are some times when I go to charge after a day and the phone tells me "battery not connected" and the battery icon on the top bar flashes red. I also have a battery widget which says failure whenever this happens.
Is this an issue with the battery or the phone? Is this something that can be fixed by samsungs warranty? My 30 days are up.
I forgot to mention that after turning the phone off, taking out the battery, and turning it back on, all the phone appears to be fine. The problem comes back eventually, though.
Does anyone have an answer? Does anyone else have the same problem?
Sounds like a hardware issue.
That's a problem with the battery. I ordered the chinese batteries from Ebay and one of the batteries never connects - it can only be charged through a wall charger. Try a new battery and see if that helps.
Ok, should I try to contact samsung for a new battery, or should I just go ahead and buy a new one? Is the battery covered by warranty?

Hey flhurricane - man - could be either or both now.
I'd find a Sprint Retail store nearby with a repair center and try and get some advice from the guys that get these types of questions more often. They'd know if it was the battery or hardware, and might be able to swap you a battery on the spot just to see. I think Sprint may be revamping the repair policy so go talk to them - if it needs repair - you may be able to get a good deal if you're past 30 days and can't return at no cost. I think they dropped all repair charges down to $35. See here.
Not sure what Samsung offers for hardware issues on undamaged phones, but again, the local repair center could give some more direction.

How many have sent N4 in for repair?

Title pretty much says it all. Also, could you state what you sent it in for? I currently am having issues with it thinking it's charging when it's actually not, and am considering calling LG to send it in for repairs.
what do you mean by charging when its actually not? is it charging USB when its plugged into the wall?
plug it in the wall and then check about phone -> status.... does it say charging (USB) instead of charging (AC)?
nah, when it's unplugged the phone thinks it's charging. battery icon has the lightning symbol, lockscreen says charging
sounds like a software problem. flash a custom rom and kernel (optional)
not worth RMAing it just for that. if it still does it, then flash it back to stock and u may RMA if all else fails.

I read that you have one year of waranty.
My N4 have the same problem, but I dont know if Google accept it with the bootloader unlocked however I think my phone is fried, so, how can they know if phone even turn on..>>?
i sent mine in, dropped it and got a crack in the screen and the touch stopped working. Hopefully I'll have it repaired soon. Not covered under warranty because it was physical damage.
