Hi, I live in Mexico, and I want to buy a Samsung Galaxy S but i'm not sure what version should i get, the International i9000 (8GB) or the ATT Captivate (16GB).
I know the Captivate can now be unlocked and this should work with no problems with my carrier since they work on the same network, but i'm not sure how customizable this device can get compared to the i9000.
I would like to use it with LauncherPro (to be more vanilla) and remove all the ATT Stuff and of course to LagFix-it. Also i don't really care about not having a front facing camera on the Captivate.
On design i really like the back of the Captivate (with its metallic battery cover), on contrary to the i9000 that feels a lot more plastiky.
So, i hope your advices can help me decide wish version of the Galaxy S I should get. All I want is not to get abandoned by not being able to update it when new versions of Android get released. If ATT don't update it anymore I hope the community does it.
Que bandas de 3G usan las compañias de telefonos por alla en Mexico?
UMTS 850/1900/2100 (i9000m Bell, SGH-i897 AT&T)
o
UMTS 900/1900/2100 (i9000 international)
o
UMTS 1700/2100 (SGH-T959 T-mobile)
o son
CDMA 800/1900 (Epic 4G)?
dependiendo en la respuesta sera el modelo que te funcione mejor en tu pais.
Its the exact same band as ATT. but i really don't use it under 3G, just WIFI, thats why i could use the i9000.
hmm.. si es asi, entonces cualquier modelo te va a funcional sin problema.
I9000 international version 16GB here. Haven't even seen a single 8GB. Where are you guys getting those from?
A friend of mine bought the 8GB version from the UK.
lots of 8GB UK version here 16GB UK are in low stock
but all Bell are all 16GB
A minor consideration if you use premium headphones w/mic (Etymotics HF2, BOSE, iPhone compatible stuff): the i9000, at least the ones from Singapore are hardwired with the mic and ground wires crossed on the 3.5mm jack. This means headphones that work with the iPhone (and most other US phones from HTC and Samsung) will not work for phone calls with the i9000.
The Captivate and Vibrant are compatible with iPhone-like headphones.
I agree with you that the back on the Captivate is the best. The Vibrant looks like the same back as the i9000. I hate that weird hump at the bottom.
Remember the i9000 has an iPhone like center button on it and two capacitive, the Captivate/Vibrant have the four capacitive buttons, which is more "vanilla" for android users.
Also, you might want to consider a Vibrant, since they are unlockable as well, and supposedly they have the 3G frequencies for both AT&T and T-Mobile compatibility, which makes it much more world-friendly than the i9000 or Captivate in my opinion.

I new about the headset "problem" with the i9000, but I didn't knew that the american versions had this "fixed".
I haven't consider a Vibrant but that could be a nice option so I could get a i9000 case.
THANKS.

It does notm atter what country you set up in Locale. It only matters what SIM Card is in or what WiFi you are using and how it identifies itself.
You either need to be using 3G with a US SIM or WiFi that identifies itself as a US network.
Hi. Which one is better in performance n battery life?

i think both are the same, but the korean version has removable battery and micro sd slot which are awesome. but with 3000mah battery on the D802, i never run out of juice before the end of the day though. and i believe the d802 has much better dev support in custom rom and tweaks.

Thanks. I still thinking to buy one. Removable battery n ext sd card is a must for me. Korean version included 2 batteries n desktop chargers thats a bonus. But what a point of that if the performance is lower than international version one. I guess need an answer from people who have international and korean version lg g2 to satisfy me.

Oh, and for the batteries, on heavy duty, i change it the evening. Its the big "plus" of the Korean version, with it 2 batteries and stand alone charger.
I takes me 10s max to change battery on it.
And the micro SD card is awesome, 64gb without a problem, accepts files bigger than 4gb.
Bought korean ver f320s. Satisfied. I rooted it.

Hi,
The Korean version is such a great device with its additional benefits sd slot and replaceable battery
I'm using the G2 F320L and was hoping to take its battery performance a step further.. is it possible to get a 3000mah battery for it as opposed to the 2610mah variant or would it be a different size/ not fit?
Thanksm

I have used F320L in UK with O2 carrier for couple of months, never faced any problems. 3G connectivity works fine, but not sure about 4G network (never used).
F320 models support any band in EU.

Hi!
I have also a korean version of LGG2. I have already used it in several countries within Europe. It works under all of bands and networks included 4g LTE as well. Tested in UK, France, Netherland, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy.
