Scratches on Athena body

Hello,
i want to change my Ameo in a new one because there are a lot of scratches on the front body. The reason is that the keyboard slipping on the surface of the body.
If any one have the same problem please Post it here because i want to show T- Mobile that this is a failure of construction.

Mine is exactly the same, I tried to take a picture, but it wasnt comming out very well, I was quite annoyed because I tried to keep it good. Does anybody know if this happens with the black ones or is it just silver. mine isnt insured and T-Mobile wouldnt entertain me for insurance because it was 3 months old. though I have heard you can insure it online somewhere.

i've got the same kind of scratches at exactly the same positions.
but i don't think t-mobile will do anything about this

I have some scratches as well, fairly similar to yours. I'll have some pics made if I can get a hold of a good enough camera.

I have a scratch at the bottom of the screen surround. The keyboard clear top has a tiny bump on it (from where it was moulded i think) and this has scratched the case! If it had a decent leather case then it wouldnt happen!

Same here, Same scratches, same area..
Guess we need to find a decent case to carry our precious around in...
Something that has some padding between the 2 parts.

Mine doesn't have this problem. Not a single scratch at all. It still look brand new. I don't use the keyboard or the leather case though. I just carry mine "naked" with my DIY belt pouch. I just have the standard free plastic screen protector over the screen area only and not the body.
This is ironic. The keyboard is supposed to protect but does the opposite.

It definetely does protect (the screen from cracks).
And imho some scratches on the body of the ameo are much better than a cracked screen

You now, we are speaking about a 800€ all in one device? Such a failure must not happen. If you had a 800€ Notebook with the same problem you would complaine about.

This is what my U1000 looks like close to the VGA camera on the front.
There are 2 more areas where I have some damage but I can't capture it properly on camera.

This is why we should take out insurance on our most expensive phones, as i hate scratches on my phones and if you complain about it with your provider/supplier and they are not willing to replace it when its a manufacture defect then i would personally claim on my insurance QUOTE (MY PHONE IS LOST/STOLEN TO GET BACK A REPLACEMENT) Its too expensive a device for it to scratch so easily.

I have the black HTC Advantage and I have the scratches too.

I have the black Athena and barely any scratches on mine. I use the stock case. The only time I got it scratched is when I first got it because I tried to use it without the case. Mistake on my part.
If you search the forum, you can also buy a $25 solution that protects your entire Athena. It's a plastic transparent covering that protects the entire body of the device. I think I may have posted it in the past to the accessories area. Well worth the tiny investment to protect the looks of your device.

Yep, I have the Black HTC Advantage X7500 and I have no scratches on it. I also do carry naked in my pocket especially around the office to meetings. However, I do feel I need something to protect it without gaining the bulk. I am still looking for a belt clip to carry it.

Looks Intresting.. But we all know that these type of solution are never as easy to install (Esp. as there are 8 pieces for the Athena)
as they are in the Promo vidz. The vidz also mention that the film has Adhesive on it. How would this affect the deve by:
1. Discoloring over time
2. Being able to easily remove the film, if need or if damaged.
3. Being removed from the screen, without pulling the touchscreen's
touch sensor film off.
Has anybody tried this stuff yet? I think I'll wait for more feedback before I buy.

From some of comments, it seems easy to remove from a pda.
I don't know if that comment was from someone who works for ShieldZone though.

I just ordered one. I'm having it shipped via 3 day UPS. I'll post my thoughts once I try it out. For the cost it's worth a try. They also have a lifetime replacement policy so if they get screwed up you get a free one. We'll see how it goes.

I will wait for your feedback before I try one. It seems to be right thing to have with this device but I am not sure yet.

I have it on for over 4 months. Search this very forum for an extensive discussion on it. Easy to install with the water spray bottle provided. The screen protector is a bit sticky so I took it off and used a regular one.

[Q] Display repair: What should I do?

Ok,my HD2 is broken since October and I'm a student and i just couldn't afford the repairs. All I know is that - it seems like this - the connector to the display is not working anymore (common problem I heard).
But honestly I have no idea what to do:
Money is still a bit tight so I can't really buy a new phone.
On the other I couldn't even figure out what to repair. I know the display is a whole unit (LCD and touchscreen glued together) and somewhere in between is the connector,which lost his contact to the mainplatine.
But all I find are the plastic frames with a connector ( http://www.algogo.com/store/product...er-HTC-HD2-II-LEO-T8585-.html?setCurrencyId=2 ) [I have no idea what digitizer means..i always thought it's the same as the touchscreen itself but that's not true.]
Or I find things like this LCD+Touchscreen or even cheaper this .
I know I need the big connector cable as mentioned in the first link of the digitizer offer but here the connector cable is suddenly on the side and not down to the keys...
Well,but it's the whole display package so I guess I need this...
I already have the right screwdriver for this work but I'm still not sure what to do/if it worth it.
Ok,the 70 Euro plus shipping..that's cheap but on the other hand the HD2 is already a bit old (but I still love Windows mobile and what do keep that).
So..any clues..suggestions?

and try by your self..

Thanks your these links but the thing is..I already know them and tried it as far as I could (which is why I already have the right screw driver for it). In the end I just scratched it more and more...
The thing is..I'm not really good at this - especially the display removing and heating part of the job. So I thought I could bypass that by simply replacing the whole display unit. Ok,still 70 Euro if I chose the second ebay link but that's way cheaper than the other ebay offer plus really really cheap compared to these send-in repair shops from the internet (about 200 euro then).
I'm just not sure if these are the right components or if there is a cheaper offer somewhere else.

I bought my LCD+Digitizer for 55USD with the shipping costs, from ebay.com.
It was from a China seller, not an OEM item for sure, but after all, my LCD was as a new one!!!
I also needed an adhesive tape like this one.
you should remember that you will need to detach the LCD+Digi from the middle metal plate frame bezel
and the only way is with heat. I tried with a hair drier..
And all went as is should be..

I'm sorry to dig this thread up but I just found my old HD2 and wondered if I could get it back to work.
Of course I need a new battery and stuff but actually it's still ok.
The concerning part is the glued display and the heat you need but now the HD2 gets older and the prizes drop so I saw a complete display (the glass, the screen and the touchpad-layer) on amazon for 60 euro.
Would you go for it?
I'm not quiet sure how to disamble the device but there are videos for that. And then it should work, right? There is no glue or duct tape or anything involved if I swap the whole display-component, right?

From the research I've done you'll need either super glue or 3m double sided tape.

Replacing Tf300 Digitizer

Hi i have looked just about everywhere i can find and have been unable to find any sort of concrete information, if anyone has themselves replaced the digitizer how did you go about doing it? As of now i am unable to tell if it is possible to take the screen off from the front and snake the connector back through where the other one went and just hook it all in that way (it is my understanding that it is held in by double sided tape making this possible) thus avoiding taking it apart piece by piece, or if i will have to take the entire unit apart piece by piece to do the install(also i suppose if anyone knows a few specific screws that will release the whole insides as one unit it would be very helpful). Anyways anyone with any experience doing this your advice would be greatly appreciated and if not i suppose i will be tinkering with it and try to figure it out on my own.

Try youtube. I found one for the eepad tf101 i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-6dKsGJ4VY&feature=plcp its the best reference you can get...otherwise keep trying repair websites I think Ifixit would be a good place ( although I can't be 100% sure). I dont know for sure but it seems that the lcd and the digitiser are most likely adhered together, most capacitive displays are these days are; so the best option would be to use a heat gun to seperate the two or i guess a hairdryer. But thats after you remove all the frame and stuff off it lololol. So you might just have to spend at LEAST two days with nothing to do besides repair...If it happened to me and if asus voided my warranty or i ran out of warranty I would do it...considering I have experience with repairing laptop lcds and phones, so I guess I would be brave enough to try. Otherwise the cost of repair is 200+...and by comparing replacement digitisers http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-EeePad-Transformer-TF300-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Glass-Replacement-Brand-New-/280929374154?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4168b20fca#ht_4213wt_1397 this being the cheapest, you might have to look at the most viable option here. [Q] Replacement Parts SM-N900W8

I fell on some stairs and landed right on my Note 3, cheek to stair. Despite having the Otterbox, I bent it quite a bit and the glass is shattered.
In any case, I'm trying to find the parts I need, and I believe I have, but they are either generic or for US models.
I'm looking at the following two parts from ETrade and I'm wondering if they will work. I've contacted them twice but keep hitting midnight, their time, and they haven't gotten back to me by email.
My phone is SM-N900W8.

Are you saying digitizer and s-pen work? If so why are you buying whole thing? You can buy just front glass, there are few videos to show how to replace it and I admit it's time consuming and little tricky, but if you really mess up, then get the whole digitizer. Also the glass itself is much less expensive and probably the same across all models. Just search youtube for instructions.

yeah, and follows the exact curve of my rear...for comfortability
I could probably do the glass and case and attempt to replace those, but the glass is REALLY shattered and if I botch that then I've wasted $100. Not to mention they say without an autoclave you're chances of going bubble free are pretty slim and I'm willing to spend the $300 to get this back to its former beauty. I can't imagine why Canada's model would be so different.

Just be careful, Crapple lawyers will go after you , 5S came out first with curved phone, so they have patent for that. LOL
Seriously now - ouch, if the frame is bent the whole screen will not fit either, me think. If it was my phone I would take it apart and very carefully try to see if I could make it straight again. I would still insist all you need is front glass, if it doesn't work you'll be out $20-$30, not $300. I have hard time to imagine the screen assembly is bended, but not frame. If frame is bent new screen won't fit. Of course without seeing it, I'm speculating and I could be completely wrong. Hope you get it sorted.

This is what I thought, but I don't want to spend $300 to find out they were right.

Glass only breakage.

Guys, Not sure if it's ok to post this here, but I figured what best way to get honest answers...
My wife cracked the glass on my S4, it all works, but the glass is broken. I know I can use a heat gun to remove the glass and buy an OEM one off of the internet (many fakes out there). Adhesion is a different story. Some use the double sided tape method, but the OEM way to do so is through a clear glue that's activated via UV light.
I personally am not willing to try this as I have too much invested in my phone to screw it up royally. Anyone had this replaced with a reputable company? I know local places do it, but none have been reputable. Aside from sending it back to Samsung, have you guys had this done anywhere you'd recommend? What did it cost you?
