I have galaxy s4 i9500 model, after 4.3 official update, everything isn't working correctly
My phone keeps repoting it self and when it starts after that rebooting it goes in infinite loop showing samsung logo and rebooting.
I remove the battery and put it againg then start the phone, it starts but shows that the battery is low eventhough It was over 50% before rebooting, when I checked the battery somehow it feels like it became bigger pregnant ! !
Can anyone help me on how can I downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.2 before I lose my battery.

Well it's better to loose your battery then your phone,
officially samsung confirmed that they have shipped a large quantity of S4 with a bad battery you can reconize these battery because their serial is starting with BD
battery is slightly swelling up or is already bigger.
I was in the same situation as you,
the phone kept rebooting and stuck at the samsung logo the only way to get through is to plug in the power supply.
you have a use battery drain before rebooting about 87% after just 1 %. once you are booted the phone will reboot during an incomming call or simply when you try to sent an sms
this behaviour has NOTHING to do with any custom ROM available here at XDA
my advice is change the battery asap because the longer you wait the more the risk of a battery exploding,
exchanging battery is still under waranty
I hope for your sake it's not going to explode when it's in one of your pockets of your pants, at that moment you damage even more then just your phone ...... and we don't want that to happen.
good luck

My battery starts with BD
so this means that I have one of the phones with the problem ?!
so changing the battery will solve my problem and this has nothing to do with my s4 hardware or ROM
another question
does changing this battery goes under the warranty or should I buy it on my own ?!!
thanks a lot for your reply

most likely yes
and yes again changing the battery will solve your problems (I know so because I had the same experience)
and no it has nothing to do with the firmware/hardware/rom on your phone
since Samsung confirmed that there is a problem with a serie of batteries it will be replaced under warranty
glad that I could be of assistance
Thanks again, I will go replace the battery ASAP.

Well make sure the replacement battery has full charge....and retry ...also insert your battery into another phone and check if its chaging....because usually the phone starts up unless the battery has gone bad....if the phone doesn't switch on...I guess its a hardware issue...which I highly doubt....make sure the wall socket is functional as well....these are little things that could be triggering this...so check everything. ..good luck

Its problem of the battery maybe. Try to buy other one only without the serial having BD letters
If your battery is DB beginning serial number, you shall notice that even with some load remaining, you cannot turn on the phone without the charger plugged in.
In that case, you can of course buy new battery, but Samsung is replacing that BD batteries free of charge.
After few roms which I tried I got a problem with my S4.
When I remove battery during phone running, next boot stuck at boot animation and never starts. Helps only reflashing rom.
I tried original rom, all wiping, formatting... everything without success. Only cure is reflash...
Simply it happens always when phone is forced turned off.... discharged battery or removed battery or long holding power button... doesnt matters, same effect everytime...
Anyone have some ideas?
Thank you a lot.

Why u remove the battery during phone running?? This is like a outage for ur phone. If u did that a lot of times (for sure u did how u are explaining urself) maybe u ****ed up the motherboard. 2 councils:
1. Get it to repair to one service center
2. When u wanna power off ur phone, use the power button :silly:

Replace the battery before explode in ur face then :good:
By the way, title is meant to say "SHUTS down" but obviously a typo.......
My phone was running Unprficial CM13. This evening it reached battery 50% level then the phone shut down and rebooted. Then has continued to do this every few minutes after reboot and the battery % is stuck at 50. Battery % hasn't dropped whilst trying to sort the issue out or increased when I try to charge it in the last 3 hours.
I've tried rebooting numerous times, wiped cache and dalvik, wiped phone and then restored numerous previous backups through TWRP but still the same. I can run the phone for prolonged period in recovery (TWRP) although the battery % was showing 50% there too, so it's not the actual battery that's the issue.
How do I resolve this?
Dead........
Put on charge overnight, woke this morning to see flashing red led light. Won't boot, won't switch on.
RIP Zuk Z1??!!
Try official CM13,

It has some less features, but its stable.

I cant. The phone is dead. wont boot. At all. Connected to power, I only get flashing red light. Will not turn on.
the phone fell last night 20 minutes before the problems started, so I can only guess the battery or phone is damaged....
Am having the same issue .just flashed cm 13 and the problem started instantly ... Phone was working fine all morning on stock rom...
And my phone didnt drop

hey bro..i just resolved my issue....phone is now charging properly and have stop rebooting..
I recently changed my screen and know if what i did will fix yours.....
But all i simply did was take off the back cover and without disassembling anything played with the ribbon that connects the phone to the board by simply moving the battery in all directions...
I believe this worked because of a build up of oxidation ...later on today i would disassemble mine and clean it with a electrical spray to be sure..
I'll try that tonight!
Same problem --' , have you a fix for this issue please ?
After a drop too .... (Little nothing broke)

make sure you connect your usb so you could see when the phone battery starts charging..
even if the phone battery is dead , once the charger is plugged in you should see when the battery starts charging while playing with the battery
I decided to return the phone. Now gave a Nexus 6P which is a great phone but I do miss my Zuk!
Will definitely look to buy a Zuk again ( or a Honor 5X).
Thanks for your help.
I'm having exactly the same problem - today morning my zuk fell off my hand to the bus floor, maybe from 1m height, and is now at 50% battery and suddenly to empty battery (red with ! mark) and switches off. when powering on it still has 50% of battery and again to empty and switch off. i have stock COS 12.1, i have it only for a week or sth like this.
is it completely broken or I can repair it somehow? thank you for info.
@olefou-zuk - have you repaired your zuk as it seems you had the same problem as me?
need to buy new battery for zuk z1, part nr BL255 - repair shop said the battery tape connecting battery and mainboard was damaged during fall and they cannot repair it. so where can I buy original BL255, only aliexpress? need it fast here in EU. thanks!
Sameproblem here after OTA update last week to CM12.1-yog7pas9ig. My Z1 began to show the battery status wrong.
After charging it drops to 50%, then to 1%. Then it automaticaly shuts down due to low battery.
After reboot it works when used constantly, but as soon its in my pocket is does again shut down.
Anyone with the same problem ?
It startet to behave like this direcly after the OTA update and it was not droped or damaged in this time, so I dont think that its an hardware failure...

I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910T) last week on Ebay. It is a refurbished one sold by a seller named Cellfeee. On the first day it came with 0 percent. So I charged it with the generic non-fast charging charger it came with and it worked good until it suddenly turned off on 5 percent and I couldn't turn it on until I put the charger on. The next day I used another charger with a fast charger (not sure if the charger was broken) and it took 7 hours all night to charge but it strangely last for 10 hours and shut off at 20 percent. Is this a common issue? Should I send it back or order a replacement battery?

I have the same issue my phone n910t shutdowns at 20% and sometimes at 15% and phone won't turn on.but i can enter download mode and it remains on for hours
but when i plug in fast charger back it shows same 15% then why the hell it won't turn on ?
I think its nothing wrong with my phone not refurbished never rooted it definitely could be bad battery..
I have the same problem with my 2 year old Note 4 - bought a new battery but that didn't fix it. Phone usually shuts off at around 15-20% battery. However, when I connect the charger it shows 0%.
So, either there's another hardware fault which is misreading the battery level, or there's a problem with latest Android or Samsung app which is causing it.

Try this
Dial*#0228# and press quick start at bottom of the screen and hit yes.
This will clear old battery calibration status.
Then turn off the phone and charge to 100% and reboot
And your new calibration status will create automatically.
I did this and now my phone is not shutting down at 15 or 20%.

Hey trex.. i have the same problem phone shuts down at 15 to 10% but when it shuts down it goes to bootloop whenever you power on the phone it goes again to bootloop but once you connect the phone to the charger it boots just fine! I'm on stock rom not rooted, 8 month old phone. Did you noticed this behavior n your phone or it's just me .

I tried that with 2 batteries. I have bought a now oem one and it's worse than the 2 years old one.
I have exactly the same problem as everyone else, the phone shuts down at 20-30-40% and sometimes even at 50%.
Edit: I was talking about the *#0228# method.

I never face any bootloop issue. after i recalibrate bettery status its perfectly fine.but still sometimes when phone heats up a lot while gaming and it shutdown at 5 or 8%.
Maybe you flash a clean stock firmware and make factory reset after flash should fix this bootloop issue.

Thanks for your reply, it isn't bootloop as i described but it fails to boot if the phone is not charged enough( it should be over 5 percent) it will go to Samsung logo the restarts again unless i connect the phone to the charger.. very strange behavior! This started to happen after November security update.. i was thinking to factory reset but i have too many apps and without TB i will suffer backing up all these data 😣.. if factory reset did not help i will send it back to Samsung service center and let them suffer 😈.. thanks for your help trex really appreciated.. cheers

It might be a software issue. The battery still lasts pretty long even though 20% is like 0%. So buying a new battery didn't help. Did you try a non-oem battery? if so, did it do the same?

It might be because your battery can't supply enough power. I had the same problem and brought it to Samsung, they said I only need to change the battery. And since I had another backup one, it was fine and decided to buy 2 more batteries just in case. No more problem so far.
