[Q] Power button stuck inside unit. - Oppo Find 5

Hey guys, got my F5 and like an idiot i messed up the power button. It is now inside the unit but still accessible. I can press it if my nails are long enough but i want to know if there is anyone with a fix for this. Nothing urgent since I'm on stock ROM with tap to wake. So has anyone been through this?
Update: Plying it out with a needle did not work.

Get something flat and wedge it out? Happened on one of my older phones once, usually just raises back into place with a little tough love. The find 5 back cover is also "fairly" easy to lift,as demonstrated by XDA unboxing.

I tried with a needle and it wouldn't budge. Ill try again with something wedged. Just dont want to damage it any further.

Hello Fkardame, I hope you've got a chance to watch the torture test on the official site where a guy uses the find 5 as a hammer so going by that i'm impressed. I was considering a Nexus 4 but have switched my mind and i hope it stays as i plan to order one in the next couple of days. The other contenders were Gionee Elife E6, Dream D1, and the micromax canvas turbo. But I think Oppo has a perfect blend of all the qualities and features i'm after and my only concern is it isn't IPX-7 certified

My phone has hit the ground from about 1 meter (3 feet) 2 times on the corner. The plastic on the corners is somewhat damaged but the screen is still perfect. If I remember correctly it has Corning Gorrilla Glass. My HTC Desire also had that (but an earlier version), it dropped from about 1 meter high onto a steel corner. The aluminium unibody had a small dent in it, but the even here the screen was still fine (no cracks or scratches).
So in my experience Gorilla Glass is something you can rely on.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but can I get an update on the power button? I have the same problem now

Wait are you for real? I can't possibly open up my phone? What about warranty and such? I'm a real noob when it comes to those things :s

oppo power button
It's not the mechanism inside the phone, but for some reason oppo 5 has an inside button and another button glued on top of that. So when you loose the upper button (which is just stuck on with cheap double sided tape) you see the inside one that doesn't rise out of the case. You can just reach it with your fingernail. If you measure the size, you can get a replacement cut out from 1mm plexiglass with a laser cutter and glue it in. I did that multiple times as it falls out every 3 months. I think this is a serious design flaw on the oppo 5.

The back case is actually really easy to remove. Get a credit card and cut it so it has a bit of edge like a razor then firmly push IN THEN UP. If you just pry up you risk breaking the little snaps. Once your in you can just re-position the power button back on to the button with a toothpick. If the button is really loose you might want to stick a piece of paper inside to make it tight.
P.s. if your every careful about removing the case it does it void the warranty as the technicians simply visually inspect to see you didn't **** it up. And i won't tell

what awful crack!...
Strange that the "new" redesigned case has date of manufacture -> 08w39 and the "old" cracked one is -> 08w44... Could it be that they knew it all the time that these cracks will be happening, but instead of mass recall the "cracky" cases they sold all of that saying "What will be will be...."

Thats because it is a sticker on the phone. Not the case.
somehow i dont think its the redesign issue, something else thats unknown must be the problem, my xperia date is 09W08 with the same design as the second pic, still no cracks...
Uh... where's the difference in the design? Can't really tell.
Had a crack in the same place, and now also have the "new" redesign case replacement.

No sharp corner in the new design. The first thing you learn to not have when you study design. Everyone learns that except the tossers at SE

yeah bro SE has the worst designs...
Does somebody have the old design on pic without the crack so it will be easier to see?
Edit: Fixed it. Nobody can miss the difference now.
if you look closely you can see the difference. the corner where the crack starts is different from the one without the crack. the corner is filleted (ie. rounded) where as the corner with the crack is pointed.
i was gonna wait before i send my x1 to get the housing replaced. i didn't see why people would send the phone in for repairs when SE haven't even come up with a redesigned housing yet and just end up getting cracks all over again. but now, it seems like a good time to do so. btw, i've counted a total of 8 cracks on my x1.

Good choice. This was my second time I had it on service for a cracked case and if you put it all togehter (had it on service three times) I have had my phone on service for 63 days. That's 2 months on a phone that isn't a year old yet.
time to repair
I have the problem where my phone won't charge unless it's turned off.
But now I also have the cracked case problem.... So I think it is time to repair.
I really love the phone... but at that price, I expect better quality. I just hope they don't keep it too long.

I have dropped mine more than 10 times. 3 of them hard falls. Not a crack or a scratch on it. I use it all the time, in my pocket, on the desk, in my hand, etc.

A wtf over my DHD screen...What should I do?

Hey guys,I just discovered that something has appeared on the upper left corner of my DHD,thankfully over the screen(Look at the attached images).

It looks like the black whatever-the-hell-it-is behind the screen glass is broken at that point. From what I recall,I have only dropped it one time, but it was from like 40cm onto a wool carpet,so no damage there. The only "experience" that might have something to do with it is that my pal tried to punch me on the leg,and the bastard hit my pocket, where my phone was(the shock I was in was unbelievable! But his hand was aching for like 2 days! ).I cannot know where he hit it,but if it was the upper left corner, then this might be the answer.
I would have known earlier, but I only noticed that some days ago when I watched a movie on my phone in a dark room.In bright light it's not so easily seen.It is,however, annoying to see because it catches my eye(I can't help looking at it when I know it's there)and I am constantly afraid it might expand and cause a serious problem.
Given that there is always the chance it's a manufacturing defect, should I return it?I mean,it's not that big a problem, but it is a flaw in a rather flawless phone!
What would you guys do?Is it worth the trouble?I could always wait and see if it gets worse and get used to it on the way.
Any opinion/help welcome!
EDIT:I forgot to mention that it is only observable when the screen is on,so the light comes from within the device. That's what led me to the conclusion that it's an internal fracture.
Sorry mate but I really can't see **** from your photos. I think you really need to adjust the expose settings on the camera or just use a better camera to begin with... Happy to comment when I can see the problem
Same here man, would love to help but i can't see anything. Better pictures would help.
If some one hit me hard on my leg pfff... If some one hit me hard on my phone, he will be searching for his teeth now....
Jokes apart, it could well do some damage to the phone, it wasn't meant to sustain this abuse on the screen.
Take a better photo where you actually have some back light. I can't see jack in the photos.
I have this too, but to a lesser extent.I don't know what caused this but it was there when I got the phone. It's like a small dot of light leaking. You should take better pictures so we can see better.
At the very least use a paint program to circle what you're trying to show because I'm with the others above and can't see what you're trying to show at all.
Ok,you're all right, pictures are ****,but the only camera I had available atm was my Desire,so you can understand!
Anyway, will take better ones and upload them.Until then,if someone wants to search for the problem,it is a lit scratch-like thing on the upper left corner of the screen's black surrounding!

Well, his hand was in pain for two days and his head for like 5 minutes(second was obviously my work! ),so that's punishment enough I think!
Btw,to avoid misunderstandings, the punch hit the phone's back, probably around the speaker(can't be sure about that though),not the screen(which appears very sturdy btw, doesn't need protection).

Well, these shots are taken with my sister's Lumix,I circled the wtf and now I hope you can see it without problems!
Thanks for your replies guys!
It looks like the screen got loose from the main body of the phone a bit. Speaker is less or more on tho opposite side of that place. My best suggestion is it got ''loose'? Not sure if it's the right word. I doubt it's possible to fix it anywhere except at HTC service center man.
I think its the black finish inside is slightly off. I also think I have the same thing but never noticed it till I compared my display to your pics. Honestly, it does not look like a problem.

Weird, I had such a problem with my Galaxy S, which has Gorilla glass. It started small, but grew little by little. It even cornered! When you pressed the glass, it became clearer, indicating it was on the inner side of the phone.
My guess: some sort of cutting of the black mask damaged the surface and weakened it.
So I' ve bought a DHD and sent the SGS back for repair under warranty.

[Q] Shake your Xperia Play

Hey Folks
As a nooby I must admit I'm quite intimidated by the video I was subjected to at registration but I've worked up the courage to start up a new thread
My Xperia play has an audible rattle when it is shook even lightly.I'm trying to firgure out what this is as it does not happen to my brothers.Another thing is that there is no rattle when the phone is open in controller mode but only when it is closed.
I'm wondering if this is normal with x amount of phones or whether or not its dodgy. It must be something to do with the hinges as far as I can see because it does not make a sound when it is open.Any response would be greatly appreciated
I've seen a thread similar to this on these forums as I've been lurking for a while.I'm just wondering how common if at all common is this?
If I shake mine up&down fast enough, it makes a small rattle. Doesn't seem harmful, and my phone's been working perfectly for months.
Gave mine a little shake up and down and it rattles a little. My phone is fine. Never noticed because I never shaked it before.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
Yep, mine rattles when the gamepad is closed, but doesn't when it's open. It sounded like it could be the buttons but I shook it while holding different variations (of buttons) but it still rattles. It must be something inside that becomes taut when you open the gamepad.
Out of interest, why were you shaking your phone?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Also, I don't have to shake it much, and it rattles when shook in any direction, more so when up and down though.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Has anybody else noticed that, whilst typing, the two halves of the phone sometimes hit against each other?
Hey guys thanks for the replies.
I always get all ocd with my new gadgets .I wasn't sure if this was a widespread minor annoyance or a defected handset.I got a flashlight widget which requires a shake to switch on and off so that's how I discovered it.
To milkyJoe.that problem drove me absolutely insane so I had to come up with a solution.i'll post it tomorrow when i've more time pal

there was a thread about this a while back and i think that they found out the reason it does this is because of a cable or a loose piece of plastic in all xperia plays. it's perfectly normal and nothing is wrong.

Whats more important is the fact that the slide mechanism scratches the deck pad near the select button after repeated open and close
It's a manufacturing defect and I've seen it twice on 2 different models of Xperia
So I know it's not a coincidence.
My newest one has a rubber protector over it I made to stop the scratching and the "jiggle" the OP is talking about

Man that is genius! I should look into that, although I haven't really gotten any scratches from the slider yet and I've had it since June.
I took it apart thoroughly and there are several loose parts inside, but I'm pretty sure it's the power/lock button. The flat cable that slides is not going to make a sound like that and the headphone jack and front-camera didn't seem nearly as problematic.

On my third one and I just put clear tape over it. My first one didn't show wear nearly as fast. I disassembled the second and saw that the Teflon (or whatever it is) dome nub/button was kinda creased and had collected contamination, though the damage was already visible while the phone was otherwise pristine and new (hardly even a speck of pocket lint!). It wipes right off and, honestly, I think it was the metallic paint that it was scrubbing off and not externally acquired dirt or dust. My second one also quickly developed a scratch on the underside of the top piece from a screw on the bottom that was screwed in too far and protruding. This was before I took it apart, so I am not to blame!

Has anyone's charging port cover broken yet?

Saw a few people over at AC say theirs had broken already! Getting my S5 today so I hope it's a bit more durable than a few days!!

I think the key to keeping it from breaking is to pull it all the way out and rotate it out of the way. Otherwise, you end up bending the little plastic arm that holds it in and it will snap.
Hasn't broke yet, but I have a feeling I will eventually break it

S5's charging port cover is curved. Be sure to pull out and push in the cover according to the shape of the hinge. If you pull/push it straight, the hinge will receive more force add more pressure.

It depends on how you pull and push it. I personally haven't broken anything out of more than 10 phones I've ever owned and used, no scratches either.
It's a bit fragile, but it will probably last 2 or 3 years with a bit of care.
If a replacement can be bought for $5 and installed with a screwdriver.. I don't think it's of much concern.

My wife's just broke after 2 months of use. TMobile refer you to Samsung who say they will fix it for free but it's a 2 week turn around. Don't know who would choose that option. They also say that fixing it yourself or another 3rd party voids the warranty.

Some people will have bad luck or some people are harsh in how they handle equipment. Mine is three months old without the slightest sign of wear on the USB port cover. Regardless the part can now be found for less than < $1 and it only takes two minutes to install.
Voiding your warranty? Only if you told them that you did it yourself. And if you really thought that was a good approach, then you have larger issues than your phone's warranty.

It's a bit fragile, but it will probably last 2 or 3 years with a bit of care.
If a replacement can be bought for $5 and installed with a screwdriver.. I don't think it's of much concern.

That would be nice if that is the case. I hope it doesn't require a full disassemble as the S5's waterproof design is a bit of a PITA to take apart and put back together unlike the S5 that takes under 60 seconds to take apart and reassemble.

Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZB9aFOFqDU is a guide to replace the usb cover flap. If you use your phone with a bit if caution it will probably hold for a year until the S6 launches

Well, Booyah! That's simple.
Needs to be put on a sticky-thread that has all-in-one info for S5.

do i have a broken home button?

so i received a new device today as the other one was replaced cos of some issues, anyway, this unit is way better than the other one except for one annoying thing ,the home button, well it's not so loose like the old one and doesn't make the click sound at one side only like the other one did and generally it's better yeah, but i was examining the home button and i noticed 2 small metal parts deep in the gap that surrounds the button, here it's

is this normal? anyone??
I don't have a magnifying glass handy, but I can't see anything like that with the naked eye.

hmm then i might have a faulty device unfortunately i can't replace it as in my country they only allow 1 replacement and i already replaced one , do u think this issue may lead to water leak?

I really don't know. Only one replacement? What a strange warranty policy
That's not normal. I don't have it on mine, and I have never seen it on any other S7 or S7 Edge. Only one replacement? Where are you from?

and what else could it be ! EGYPT of course, the country of absolute madness and none sense , well to be honest it doesn't look that clear when i hold the phone in my hand i mean it's not easy to notice those part, it takes me some time and a lot of phone tilting to find them, now here's a screenshot i toke from a teardown video,it shows 2 small holes on top of a golden bottom ( which i guess the shiny part in the first pic)
so i don't know whether or not iam supposed to be able to notice those holes, all i can say is that the button is quiet wiggly just a little bit and when i slightly slide it to the top, those holes become a little harder to notice, anyway i couldn't resist not taking the phone for a swim lesson, so i submerged it in water 2 times for about 3 mins and i even had the balls to press the button and even hold it! and thankfully no damage was done, the only thing i noticed was some small air bubbles around the button when i pressed it under water, dunno if this normal!

Well all I can say is that I do not have those two "thingys" on the home button, and I have never seen it before on other Edges too, so it's probably a production error where something or someone has been a little hasty with that part. I guess you could contact Samsung and just ask if there are any chances of getting a production error fixed, which you can even document with photos. If that fails, then I don't know. Contact a service center and ask how much it'll cost to get that button corrected or swapped?
