Can i use modems from i337m with i9505?? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can i use modems from i337m with i9505?? Like i may get better signal if I use a modem that ships with my provider's SGS4, but they only ship i337m,
So can I flash modems for i337m on my i9505?

Just asking why not mate? The full system hardware is the same. It's even possible to use every I9505 rom with the I337M. May the phone brick or something?

Seems it's just a matter of the bootloader... not too proper for the modem of my country. I'll have to wait for a 'major' update. Thanks anyway mate!

I'd like to root my phone but i dont know what build it is ? i've checked in " about device" and see that my model number is sgh-1337. So i dont know if this is the I9500 version or the I9505 version. I dont want to pick the wrong version number when i root and mess things up. Thanks
It's the SGH-1337 version. DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING MEANT FOR THE 9500 or 9505!

Actually, you can flash I-9505 ROMs, just not the radios/modems.

[Q] How to extract a ROM

Hello, i want to extarct the ROM from my moms S4 any way to do that? and i preffer a way that wont damage the device or any data on it i just need a copy of the ROM
What exactly are you wanting to achieve by doing that ?
The only way I know is to make a backup on her phone in CWM and then restore it on yours.
Pointless though.

What's the point in doing that?
If your mom's phone has a stock rom in it right now, why not just download the stock rom
from SamMobile.com ?
If your mom's phone has some custom rom in it, why not simply download the same
custom rom which you can find here in xda ?
Or perhaps you just want to spy on your mom and see all her texting, email and phone numbers? LOL
My moms S4 has a modem that works well in israel the i9505 works badly if its bought not from sanny ( a i9505 supplier ) and my is a T mobile from the states so yes getting her rom would work best for me and i couldnt get to copy her modem to the PC always stops before starting like its blocked or something
Ummmm you should make sure that its not an i9500 if it is that will explain why it doesn't seam to be as good I think.

Hers is a different model than yours. The ROMs are interchangeable but the modems are not. You cannot use a 9505 modem on a t mobile 919. Besides, the modem isn't part of the ROM so backing up her ROM wouldn't let you move the modem to your phone.

Yeah but extracting/flashing a ROM on the s4 will not change the modem. Modem can only be changed with Odin or heimdall and flashing the wrong modem=bad news. If you're asking how to extract a ROM to fix modem issues you probably shouldn't be playing with your modem... but here you go.

Dude i live in israel why give me T mobile antenas?
Well, there are a plethora of modems in there. Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada for a few different firmwares. I don't know what exact phone or baseband you have but I linked that for the reading about modems.

Good modem for Philippines(Globe)

I'm running Golden eye rom. And my baseband is I9505DXUAMDM. The problem is, i'm having trouble with the network. When the phone gets idle, then i use it, it has no network and takes while to have it back in. Idk but when i bought this phone, it was only locked by Globe(sim) which i was using globe as well. So i believe it doesnt have anything to do with that carrier locked thingy. TIA.

I am using the MJ5 modem on most of the 4.3 and kitkat roms and I am not having any network drops.
Since the 4.3 update, old modems are getting network drops. So you need to update your baseband. Try MJ5.
Btw I'm locked to Globe as well.

Flash this via odin and this should fix your dropping issue and make sure to choose the right one. or go here and choose the modem you want http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025
f you are having the old bootloader XXUB flash http://www.mediafire.com/download/48r0rgqv25s8968/GSM_Modem_XXUEMFK_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.rar file with odin by selecting phone.
If you are having the new bootloader XXUD flash http://www.mediafire.com/download/zriv6i5c01lqns6/GSM_Modem_XXUEMFK_and_LTE_Modem_XXUMFK.rar file with odin by selecting phone.

Yep just download the MKE and MJ5 earlier on that thread.
So, just flash it then? No need to reinstall everything?

[Q] S4 Won't Turn On?

Hey guys, so I recently failed flashing a rom onto my phone, and now it won't turn on at all. I'm pretty sure the battery still has something left in it, and I've been trying to turn it on to the odin download mode, but the phone isn't giving a response nor is my computer recognizing it. Is there any fix?
What did you try to flash? Pretty sure you hard bricked it.

Live and learn. Always check what you're flashing and only flash what is for your specific device. All s4's aren't the same.

Yup. Just questioning now, I looked at the website and they offer to allow me to chose a rom for them to install. Can they install CM11 or CM10 even if I have the MK2 S4, which only allows TW roms to be flashed?

If you're on mk2, no. I don't think they can, but can they flash mdl on your phone? That would be cool.

[Q] Will this brick my device permanently?

I have a 910H model want to flash 910C fw using odin. Just to see if it will unlock the LTE bands since they have identical Hardware including modem chip. Any advice will be appreciated.
Hard to say. Usually as long as you can get back to download mode for Odin you are okay. You wanting to flash a firmware that's not for your phone goes against the norm. So, do you feel lucky? lol

As long as the brick is not permanent. I am willing to be the guineapig if I can locate Odin flash-able files for both 910h and 910 c. If the hardware is truly identical as was mentioned then 910H should behave like 910C ala LTE . OTOH I may be screwed ..... so trying to figure out the probability of the later.

Oh my God... NO!!!!!!
It's not hard to say, it's very easy to say that one should NEVER flash a firmware that is not meant for the SPECIFIC MODEL they own.
NEVER.
Um, hi and welcome to xda! They do things like this on occasion.... Some flash to make phones work on other carriers. I didn't sign off on his flashing but am curious about the results!

Hi, I've been here a while...
People flash unbranded firmwares of the SAME model to get rid of carrier specific bloatware. NEVER a firmware meant for another model. But I can only speak on behalf of sane people.
If you're curious, flash your device and tell us all about it.

sometimes I will say bootloader mismatch... I wouldn't recommend using odin a firmware that isn't for ur phone, just flash a rom, and this way u can see if it will work,
I flashed both roms sweet and wanam from exynox 910c on my h variant everything work fine but under the baseband version in the about debice i have test1 and the lte doesnt work even though i have it in the network settings and in the service mode
