[Q] Will this brick my device permanently? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a 910H model want to flash 910C fw using odin. Just to see if it will unlock the LTE bands since they have identical Hardware including modem chip. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hard to say. Usually as long as you can get back to download mode for Odin you are okay. You wanting to flash a firmware that's not for your phone goes against the norm. So, do you feel lucky? lol

As long as the brick is not permanent. I am willing to be the guineapig if I can locate Odin flash-able files for both 910h and 910 c. If the hardware is truly identical as was mentioned then 910H should behave like 910C ala LTE . OTOH I may be screwed ..... so trying to figure out the probability of the later.

Oh my God... NO!!!!!!
It's not hard to say, it's very easy to say that one should NEVER flash a firmware that is not meant for the SPECIFIC MODEL they own.
NEVER.

Um, hi and welcome to xda! They do things like this on occasion.... Some flash to make phones work on other carriers. I didn't sign off on his flashing but am curious about the results!

Hi, I've been here a while...
People flash unbranded firmwares of the SAME model to get rid of carrier specific bloatware. NEVER a firmware meant for another model. But I can only speak on behalf of sane people.
If you're curious, flash your device and tell us all about it.

sometimes I will say bootloader mismatch... I wouldn't recommend using odin a firmware that isn't for ur phone, just flash a rom, and this way u can see if it will work,

I flashed both roms sweet and wanam from exynox 910c on my h variant everything work fine but under the baseband version in the about debice i have test1 and the lte doesnt work even though i have it in the network settings and in the service mode

[Q] Turning the i9505 into i9505G : because of the bootloader ?

I'm wondering why we cannot flash directly the I9505GUEUBMFP (4.3) - U.S.A (XAR) firmware on "standard" i9505 as Faryaab told us here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342377
After reading some posts in dev section (Aerys is trying to bypass the problem, but I have no news since yesterday...), it seems that the bootloader won't allow complete flash of the i9505G firmware, as it has a "write protection enabled". Is this the main problem that avoid flashing ?
So, are we forced to use only unofficial ports of i9505G firmwares ? There is another way to unlock/bypass such protection to flash the original i9505G firmware ? And what do we really miss when we flash/use ported ROMs than the original one made by Google ?
Thanks for your answers !
Yea we cant flash the .pit/modem/bootloader from I9505G on our I9505. Maybe it can be bypassed but idk how.
Write protection: Enabled (in Downloadmode) is our main issue. THis prevents us from flashing other devices odin files.
One reason: Modem.

Different LTE frequencies. S4 Google Edition is being sold in the US for two carriers. Both use totally different frequencies from i9505 (international version).
This flash might be possible on S4 of the same carrier but not on our international edition.

This is the problem ?
In this forum all have the own personal idea about this problem
It is possible to flash part of the odin files of the leaked 4.3 firmware, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342377&page=14
When the i9505g is available we can see how it differs from the original. Im sure we can then flash the bootloader etc to our i9505 completely.

AFAIK, the difference is N910H doesn't have LTE
How do I do that? Or can you explain me what exactly do you mean? I have a N910H and I'd like to flash roms down the road (maybe if some AOSP comes out later) but I have noticed most roms so far are coming for the C version.

You can flash the f/w. I am using WanamLite for N910C on my N910H and it works fine. Of course 4G/LTE is not functioning.
The only last step to the conversion is establishing if the modem of N910C will work on N910H. Until now, we know that the modem hardware is the same on N910H and N910C. I haven't tried to flash the modem on my N910H because I really don't want to brick my 800$ device I bought last week. Down the road someone is bound to try it, then we can even enjoy 4G on our N910H variant if it works

1- As far as I know, no, the modem stays untouched while flashing custom ROMs through CWM/TWRP. Maybe someone with more experience on the matter could confirm this.
2- Both are much better and have noticeably better battery life.

Canadian Variant 928W8 stock firmware

Any one knows when it will be available? My phone has been FRP locked, so need it urgently to unbrick my phone... Thanks!!
Sam mobile usually has all the firmwares available to download as Odin packages. If not I could probably do a factory reset, make a twrp backup and upload it for you? You'll of course need to root/install twrp following all the guides here for that to work though.
I don't know if you're looking for a stock ROM or not. Honestly haven't read much about the FRP lock, haven't even bothered flashing my Edge+ yet (also W8 variant, which is weird for me, first android I haven't flashed.. ). Anyway, there is THIS in the T-Mobile section (rooted+deodexed though).
Hmm... the problem is that I cannot even boot into recovery mode as this stupid FRP is blocking every custom recovery/kernel/ROM.... Only the stock firmware would help to unbrick the phone...

Thanks for the link, but it is not the stock firmware so that it won't help in my case. FRP basically blocks any recovery/kernel/ROM other than stock version. Please please please always keep in mind to check"OEM unlock" in developer option before doing factory reset on a custom ROM, in particular we are using W8 variant, that Samsung hasn't released the stock firmware... In other words, there is no way to unbrick the phone once it is FRP locked.
Anybody manage to find this? I need the stock firmware now too :\
Is it true that the battery doesn't charge after it's FRP locked? So the missing W8 firmware even if it comes eventually when the battery is dead the phone is dead? How in the hell are we supposed to fix this with no firmware available on sammobile?! Is there really no other way? Who has the firmware? Do the carriers have it?
Samsung Firmware has stock firmware for the W8 variant (full ODIN tar files), both OGD and the new OK5. I've been checking sammobile daily, and nothing (even at the time of this post).. Just thought I'd post in case some were not aware..

there are 2 possibilities about flashing g900f firmware on your g900v:
1) it will refuse to flash
2) you will hardbrick
as I said earlier, please flash this to check whether your bootloader is locked or unlocked.

The G900F has an unlocked bootloader - the G900V does not. If it does flash, you can root if you want. If it doesn't flash - all your stuff will still be there.

I would NOT attempt to unlock the bootloader, just use FlashFire, unless you want AOSP. Try flashing a G900F rom on yours. I don't see why it would not work

I would NOT attempt to unlock the bootloader, just use FlashFire, unless you want AOSP. Try flashing a G900F rom on yours. I don't see why it would not work

Samsung SM-G935F/SM-G935W8 ROM difference?

Greetings!
I would appreciate if someone could tell me the difference between these two Galaxy S7 Edge ROMs? I know for previous models, It was safe to flash a 'F' variant ROM onto a 'W8' variant.
Does this still apply?
I'm interested in flashing the SuperNexus 2.0 build on my Canadian Galaxy S7 Edge.
Cheers!
i have a sm-g935w8 currently flashed with king rom v8 and jesse kerne and no problem
and from what i have read is the f version is the international one and w8 is only for canada but seems to have the same hardware but different software like modem and bootloader

That's what I was thinking. So you've flashed the F kernel on your W8?
Cheers

Do you have the Bell SM-G935W8? What Root did you use? Did you use Philz Touchwiz for 6.xxx? What ROM did you use? Thanking you in advance.

I've never used philz. Always twrp and I use chainfire for rooting. G935F model is exactly the same as our Canadian model.

God no. Why would you want to? No advantages whatsoever. You can only cross flash custom ROMS

Oh Interesting I was hoping it would. Since its the same hardware, I was hoping that maybe I would be able to use band 30 if I flashed the g935w8 modem and firmware on my g935f.

I believe you could flash the modem through Odin but don't quote me on that. I know that even if you wanted to flash firmware Odin won't let you do it. If you tried modems only maybe? I think the bands are hardware anyways, can't manipulate them.

I see, that makes sense then. I was just reading other's posts that said the g935w8 is the same hardware as the g935f (considering they are both exynos), so I thought maybe that the LTE bands were due to software differences. But if its a hardware difference its probably a bad idea for me to try it.
Thanks for the feedback guys! Currently running Debloated DD1.1. Really recommend it!
Guys I bought a canadian g935w8, and I do not live in canada. Right here I get a weak 4g signal unlike my wife's g930f. I would like to try and flash g935f modem over my g935w8. Do you think it's possible ? Is there a risk that I loose my IMEI ? Can I try ?
Please advise me. Thank you in advance

I wouldn't do it if I were you mate. Criss crossing custom roms is fine as they are compatible with each other but flashing one variant of modem over another is a big NO NO and could potentially brick your device.
