Greetings!
I would appreciate if someone could tell me the difference between these two Galaxy S7 Edge ROMs? I know for previous models, It was safe to flash a 'F' variant ROM onto a 'W8' variant.
Does this still apply?
I'm interested in flashing the SuperNexus 2.0 build on my Canadian Galaxy S7 Edge.
Cheers!
i have a sm-g935w8 currently flashed with king rom v8 and jesse kerne and no problem
and from what i have read is the f version is the international one and w8 is only for canada but seems to have the same hardware but different software like modem and bootloader

That's what I was thinking. So you've flashed the F kernel on your W8?

Oh Interesting I was hoping it would. Since its the same hardware, I was hoping that maybe I would be able to use band 30 if I flashed the g935w8 modem and firmware on my g935f.

I believe you could flash the modem through Odin but don't quote me on that. I know that even if you wanted to flash firmware Odin won't let you do it. If you tried modems only maybe? I think the bands are hardware anyways, can't manipulate them.

I see, that makes sense then. I was just reading other's posts that said the g935w8 is the same hardware as the g935f (considering they are both exynos), so I thought maybe that the LTE bands were due to software differences. But if its a hardware difference its probably a bad idea for me to try it.
Thanks for the feedback guys! Currently running Debloated DD1.1. Really recommend it!
Guys I bought a canadian g935w8, and I do not live in canada. Right here I get a weak 4g signal unlike my wife's g930f. I would like to try and flash g935f modem over my g935w8. Do you think it's possible ? Is there a risk that I loose my IMEI ? Can I try ?
Please advise me. Thank you in advance

I wouldn't do it if I were you mate. Criss crossing custom roms is fine as they are compatible with each other but flashing one variant of modem over another is a big NO NO and could potentially brick your device.

AFAIK, the difference is N910H doesn't have LTE
How do I do that? Or can you explain me what exactly do you mean? I have a N910H and I'd like to flash roms down the road (maybe if some AOSP comes out later) but I have noticed most roms so far are coming for the C version.

You can flash the f/w. I am using WanamLite for N910C on my N910H and it works fine. Of course 4G/LTE is not functioning.
The only last step to the conversion is establishing if the modem of N910C will work on N910H. Until now, we know that the modem hardware is the same on N910H and N910C. I haven't tried to flash the modem on my N910H because I really don't want to brick my 800$ device I bought last week. Down the road someone is bound to try it, then we can even enjoy 4G on our N910H variant if it works

1) Is this going to be the case always? or are there roms that include the modem when flashing?

1- As far as I know, no, the modem stays untouched while flashing custom ROMs through CWM/TWRP. Maybe someone with more experience on the matter could confirm this.
2- Both are much better and have noticeably better battery life.

I have a 910H model want to flash 910C fw using odin. Just to see if it will unlock the LTE bands since they have identical Hardware including modem chip. Any advice will be appreciated.
Hard to say. Usually as long as you can get back to download mode for Odin you are okay. You wanting to flash a firmware that's not for your phone goes against the norm. So, do you feel lucky? lol

As long as the brick is not permanent. I am willing to be the guineapig if I can locate Odin flash-able files for both 910h and 910 c. If the hardware is truly identical as was mentioned then 910H should behave like 910C ala LTE . OTOH I may be screwed ..... so trying to figure out the probability of the later.

Oh my God... NO!!!!!!
It's not hard to say, it's very easy to say that one should NEVER flash a firmware that is not meant for the SPECIFIC MODEL they own.
NEVER.

Hi, I've been here a while...
People flash unbranded firmwares of the SAME model to get rid of carrier specific bloatware. NEVER a firmware meant for another model. But I can only speak on behalf of sane people.
If you're curious, flash your device and tell us all about it.

sometimes I will say bootloader mismatch... I wouldn't recommend using odin a firmware that isn't for ur phone, just flash a rom, and this way u can see if it will work,

I asked the same question and was told that we can only use specific W8 Roms up here. Unless its unified and AOSP. There's a moron named 'thatsupnow' running around here saying flash anything, but don't listen to him. While I can't confirm with absolute certainty, I do believe were stuck with Roms from Canadian telecoms., as far as stock goes anyway. COLOR="Silver"]

FlashFire is the compatible recovery. There are two ROMs for the Verizon S7 Edge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/development I have personally verified that the PlayStore ROM posted for the Edge will work on the S7 flat.
I should mention that you need to be on the U firmware prior to flashing those ROMs. The ROM also installs the G935 engineering kernel, so you need to flash the G930 boot kernel with Odin afterwards. I can make a write-up later if there is any interest.
I can even modify his ROM with the correct build.prop and kernel for the G930V.
How's the stability and finctionality?
A guide would be awesome. How do I get it up and running lol.

If you intend to root it, then you still need to use the same engineering kernel. I will say that before I rooted the U-firmware, the phone was much smoother and faster in stock form than the stock Verizon firmware.

Not just the kernel alone. Flash the U firmware and you will be able to select any band, as long as the radio is in the phone for it.

G930v custom recovery pass dm verity
Can someone point me in the direction of a thread to install custom recovery on the Verizon varient S7? Say hypothetically I could pass the dm-verity check.
How would I go about implementing the pass to install a custom recovery.
I know that the AT&T and T-Mobile variant of the S7E can use the custom international firmware, but can our variant do the same? Like can I use any of the SM-G935U or SM-G935F, I know this is a newbie question, but I'm asking because I had a S4 and I could load custom roms on my S4, but I'm not sure about now since I switched to iphone then switched back.
