[Q] flashing roms s4

i just got an s4 which is locked to mediel and i would like to know if i want to install a custom rom on it does the phone need to be unlocked.
sorry for the question but it's my first android phone and i'm used to iphone

Your phone is unlocked.
However, there is no way to get back to "Official" ,if you root it.
The choice is yours.

no the phone is locked to meditel. and i'm asking if i need to be unloked to install a custom rom on it?

Hi,
I think you mean "Sim-locked"
The phone itself is not locked,just the sim card.

yes that's what i mean so can i install any rome i want on it or do i have to unlock it before?

You do not need to sim-unlock your phone.
Flash any i9500 ROM.

if i install a rom on my i9500 which is an international variant and sim locked to a carrier will i be able to use it as a phone or will i not be able to use my sim card?

[Q] please help with imei and baseband

i rooted my S4 GT i9500 yesterday and everything was fine.
but when i flashed a custom ROM (arrow rom) the phone stopped recognizing the sim card.
under Baseband it says unknown, and under IMEI it says unknown.
Please help!!!

You flash it with an incompatible recovery, try with latest CWM.

I have no idea since the list is so long.
Try reading the label on the box it came with
And match some letters and numbers.
But to be honest: I have no clue.
Maybe kies can help disaster recovery back to stock

How do I know if my phone is jlfte or jlftexx?
I have a:
Galaxy S4 i9505 16gb
Baseband: I9505XXUFNC4
Android: AOSB 4.4.2 (I have flashed the jlfte version but have problem with the camera)

Jflte is the modelnumber for the galaxy s4. Jfltexx is the International model of the galaxy s4.
Different carriers have different modelnumbers because of their lte frequencies. All of them have the Snapdragon 600. If you no carrier restricted phone then you have the jfltexx
Alternativly you could dial *1234#

And a jflte ROM is for every snapdragon S4. So for the jflteatt, jfltevww, jfltetmo and of course jfltexx. It's called a unified build. The jfltexx is just the i9505. So the device you own. You can flash jfltexx ROMs and jflte ROMs. They both should work.

Are you sure? I've never heard of a jfltevj.. could you tell a little more about the device? Which ROMs have you been flashing and did they work?

I never changed the ROM, I'm using the original. This is the first time i'm trying to change de ROM.
I installed Root from JflteXX and it worked. But i know that i can brick my mobile if i install the wrong version of TWRP.

Yeah, im 99.9% sure you've got a jfltexx. The VJ is just your modem. Just go ahead and flash jfltexx twrp.
Also, the i9505 is nearly, I repeat, nearly unbrickable. Almost everything can be fixed by using Odin.

I researched more about Jfltevj and I didn't find anything. So I decided to install the JFLTEXX version and at first moment it is working normally.

once unlocked that's it for good,it's unlocked

you can flash any compatible firmware or rom, phone will stay unlocked

Download the rom you need from Sammobile.com/firmwares/ and flash the .md5 file with Odin 3.09 with the phone in downloadmode.

Im new to this flashing stuff so i dont know much. Having said that i went to sammobile/firmwares and there are firmwares with different PDA . How do I find the one thats for my mbl. My mbl info :

Baseband Number : G900TUVU1ANCH

Try the latest UK BTU rom, it should work fine, don`t know if LTE is supported on your phone because of the supported bands/frequencies.

Nope, its compatible with your device though i don`t know if the Pakistani laguage is included.
