[Q] Contacts list not responding - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So when you go into your contacts list, the first one listed is "Me". If I try to click on myself I get the following message (screenshot) every time. However if I click and hold, I can go in and edit my personal details. Just wondering if this is normal?

I get the exact same issue! Just got the phone today and went through setting it up and wanted to check my contact info, and got the same crash each time.
Can anyone shed a light on this?

Bumping! i am still facing the same issue. Please help!

do a factory reset and if it does not help clear defaults and cache the next time.

Hmmm ya factory reset may work. Don't want to go through setting everything up again just for this. Everything else is working for now so I'll wait till I get the 4.4 update

Make a backup of your contacts (or not, if they are stored on Google), find the Contacts app and clear cache and data. Reboot phone, try Contacts again.

It worked! thank you! cant see my Google+ profile in this though!
EDIT:
To provide an update, looks like the Google+ integration is doing something. As soon as my google+ profile got connected to my local profile, i am again getting the same error.

Same problem here :/

Thanks, re-adding my account fixed it.

you dont need to remove your account btw. just select the account. uncheck all, then re-check what you want. it "unjams" it.
the sync gets stuck sometimes because you lose your network as it's trying to communicate.

What is this?

After rebooting my AT&T GS4 this notification showed up and in confused as to what it is. If anyone knows what this is, please let me know

I'm not sure :s
Maybe its resending any failed messages that may not have gone through before you rebooted
Are you using the AT&T Locker service or AT&T Messages or anything else that might be periodically backing up your SMS data?

It may also be Google attempting to backup messages if you have that option checked.

Where is there an option to back up messages to google's cloud? Of all the years I've been using android devices, this has never existed.

And this backs up and restores all your SMS/MMS messages, as well as "application data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings"?

To be honest I don't use it much. But it appears to.

i think this is the samsung backup, you probably selected auto-backup when you first booted your phone, i had that too but when i reset my phone i didnt check it and it stopped
If you run an AOSP rom this is just the settings defined for backing up what everyone has always come to known: contacts, wifi passwords, apps. There is no SMS backup to google.

Surely turning this off would cause ADM to stop working.

In settings / location services try turning off wifi and mobile network location.
Also in settings / accounts go into your Google account and check what syncs you have on. Maybe you have app data, Picasa, contact syncs running in the background. I only leave on Gmail and calendar.

Email glitch: "-1 new emails"

Does anybody else have this issue? I already deleted all email accounts once, then added them again. It fixed it, but now it's back. Husband's Note 3 just got this bug too. ?

Setting > application > email > clear data ,, then updated it again from Google Play
:good:
Yeah, that's what I did. Then I had to set it up again. Just like I said in my 1st post... It was good for awhile. But now the glitch is back.
So, anybody else has a problem like that? What causes it and is there a way to remedy it once and for all?
P.S. update what from play store??
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
...same for me from time to time. The only solution is to identify which account is affecting it by marking its messages as read/unread until the icon shows the -1 value. Then delete and set up only that account again. Same phenomenon happened to my Note 2 at day one, fixed with the first firmware update.
What causes it? The total incompetence of Samsung on this kind of applications. Certain problems are well known since a couple of years now but simply they don't care.

Problem with Exchange email in built in app

I have a problem with the built in email app on the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-9005).
I use the built in email app with an Exchange account for work. Since day one it has been working flawlessly.
Yesterday, all of a sudden, new email doesn't show up in the mail app. Email arrives as it should to the account when I check it at the computer. When I try and manually update in the app, the time stamp for "last updated" in the upper right hand corner doesn't change. It does however seem to try and check every once in a while, since the time stamp updates during the course of the day.
I have tried to change the password on the account and the phone, but it doesn't help.
I have also tried removing the account altogether and then adding it again. That doesn't help either. What's even more strange is that the email will sync back to the device when the account is readded, up until yesterday. No email from yesterday or after shows up.
None of my colleagues experience the same problem, but most if them are sporting iPhones.
I can't think of anything in particular that I have installed lately that might bring this problem along.
Does anyone recognise this problem, or even better, know how to fix it?
Thanks!

Really, no one recognises this? Strange problem. Still haven't solved it. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Did you frozen or deleted the magazine app? If you done that then email brakes.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Really? I might have done that, but I don't think so. What exactly is the app called? Could you post a screenshot of är the icon. It would be much appreciated!
